Oh, WHATEVER. You and Clay really pairing up. Mace shouldn't let you post such a thing 'cause with you and Clay being together, no one will beat you. I bet all those Dallas boys will be too skeered to sign up.

I'm down for GB today if everyone else is. Or maybe the OMBs will just forfeit ;). Of course I don't see a problem with postponing this week's match due to rain. We could play Saturday instead of today if that'll keep the OMBs from whining too much :D

May 06 2005, 12:52 AM
Time to change the avatar again.

Last couple of weeks, the YGBs outnumbered the OMBs, this week they could barely match the number of OMBs. Have they all given up already ?

reddman
May 06 2005, 12:54 AM
Josh's partner was a newbie to Smack Talk. He's played less than 10 rounds of golf. I think most, if not all, we quite impressed with his abilities and his coach. :) On top of that, his coach almost aced #10 tonight with a sidearm.

27dogs
May 06 2005, 12:59 AM
josh was playing cali till the newbie showed up. of course he was getting stomped already. the newbie did not play like one for sure. he should definately keep playing.

gnduke
May 06 2005, 01:01 AM
Metal on #10 for Marc. Impressive shot.

I can't say much for the newbies coach. His natural ability is impressive in spite of the form his coach is letting him get away with using. He is going to be a crusher when he figures out the X-step and how to use his larger muscle groups instead of his arm to throw.

Josh re-injured his shoulder today. He should probably let it rest at least a couple of weeks before stressing it again.

And again we both missed a 10 footer, but made an 80 footer. Too bad PT wasn't there.

It's almost not fair to count this one, but if the shoe was on the other foot, I'm sure the YGBs would count this one.

This count is for the Thursday evening series. You are more than welcomd to keep track of whatever you wish. It will start over when the series switches to the weekends in the winter, and again next spring.

Watts - if you are playing today after you take care of the jeep let me know. I decided to take the day off and may get out this afternoon. I am going to see if Dieder is off today also.

You have my #

and it counted :D but I do love how the schedule is set by the OMB's...just because you were not there, doesn't mean they didn't lose :o

If we do Porter we should just play all the long pads ( alts or originals)...some of the alternates are much closer and alot easier birdies - my 2 cents

1 over won it at the beaver

sandalman
May 07 2005, 11:40 PM
17 is in long and adds one stroke compared to the course at the maceman show, so a one over is the same as the second best score. only claydog's first round of -1 was better.

i got a three for the first time one 1. my up came to rest exactly 1/4 inch from the pole. and notched my first birdies on 12 and 14. coupla totally avoidable bogeys 5 to start the round and 16. overall an okay round.

of course i know if you woldnt have been skeered of the wind you'da won with a -5. but you should, since its your backyard!

27dogs

we should define (and possibly argue about) which holes would be considered "long" from the normal pad, and which from the alts. I'm sure some OMB will have some whining to do...

I haven't seen most of the alt tees, so don't have any real comments on the length.

The some of the ones I heard about seemed shorter.

I would say 6 from back toward 17's teebox somewhere and 7 from 6's tee box.

If you think random partners is causing you to lose week after week, and the competition is not doing the same thing, why would you continue to do it ? Put your best ringers together and bring it.

I plan on having Frank as my partner at several upcoming doubles events and like to have the practice time as a team. It's pretty hard to find time for doubles practice when you have a full tournament schedule. I would rather take advantage of it than flip, but if winning one time means that much to the YGBs.....

First off i have no random partners. Josh and i have played 2guether since the start of the new season! I have no complaints about you and francine plying w/ each other :D
My point is that every other omb team has been beatin at some point in time by ygb's. I dont think it should be omb vrs ygb in that scenario; mind as well make it ygb's vrs. omb's and frank and gary!!

May 09 2005, 09:34 PM
ok frank, while i believe that a 48 on the beaver is within your capabilities, the following table will illustrate why i have my doubts.

this table takes your reported score and calculates the probablity of your actually carding that score. the probability is expressed as a percentage. it contains two models. on the left is a generous estimate; on the right is a very realistic estimate.

after calculating the probability of your reported score for each hole, we can determine the odds of putting all together in a single round. this is accomplished by multiplying each hole's probability. it can read as "the probability of shooting a 3 on one AND a 2 on two AND a 2 on three"... and so on.

i then multiply the overall probability by 100 to see how many rounds of 48 you could expect in 100 rounds of golf. finally, i reduce by the least common denominators and express the results in standard odds format.

holes where your reported score is extremely likely i left as 1:1, ie a certainty.

so, if indeed you shot a 48, i congratulate you, because you beat 25:1 odds.

it has nuttin to do with that, silly. i have no idea what you threw that day. i know it was pretty good, thats all. what this has to do with is that if you shot a -6 at the beaver you had a very impressive round. i would put money on you averaging no better than -2 over 10 rounds. like i said, a -6 is within your reach... you'd need to make no mistakes and at least a half-dozen brilliant shots.

From the start, the lowest scoring all YGB or OMB team has claimed the victory for their side. Split teams can win, but it does nothing for the YGB/OMB decision. Ties are not allowed and must be played off.

Man, can't you guys find a few ringers to get a victory, we are not that good and our scores prove it. :D

Ah, but Mr. Parker, I *have* beaten you. Many times. I'd say historically we're probably close to even, but recently I've been the victor more times than not in this twisted little comparison. Maybe those guys at Just For Brakes over-torqued your lugnuts again. I think they carry a workmanship waranty, might want to have that checked out.

Ms. Watts. Quit trying to use big words. I don't think it has ever worked out in your favor... but then, "guarantee" and "theirs" aren't exactly big words. Maybe you should just stop posting altogether :D

I came to a realization today. While it is true that the OMBs (I mean Duke and Pinkie) have gotten the better of the YGBs so far this season, it is also true that it cannot last. These old bastards are in the best shape they'll ever be in. They have highest mental capacity right this minute that they'll ever have. Their game isn't going to improve after today. We may be behind but we will catch up, thanks to the laws of nature. This is the very reason that the PDGA created the age-restricted divisions in which our silly OMB friends take shelter during nearly every tournament. Their aging muscles, hearts, brains, and  egos couldn't take the strain of playing in a more open* division. They are, after all, over the proverbial hill. But, I digress. I'll be there this Thursday. Woody and I will continue to improve our doubles game as well as our general skill. The OMBs will continue to get old. I'm also going to try and be at GB today at 5:30. wish me luck.

*Before you tards make a comment about "open," it does not mean "pro" it has simply been misconstrued as such. "Open" means "no restrictions." Any age group, sex, or classification can play in the "Open" division, therefore it is the only division in which under-40 pro-classified men can play... so the connotation is "pro." By using the term "more open," I am referring to a less-restricted division such as MA1 where the only restriction is "amateur". Of course I do not expect this explanation to prevent any contradictory comments. We are, after all, dealing with tards. I doubt any of the OMBs have the attention span to even read this far down.

just to clear up some confusion... la marka calls me pebbles. its from quite a few years ago at the first Live Oak TX10. wimm coined the name, mark-the-wannabe-crossdresser is simply not that creative. had to do with my complaining about some bad luck i had on the island hole when my expertly thrown tee shot swooped down at precisely the point i intended. it was preparing to skip to the pin when a small stone a foot OB caught it like a 15" rainbow trout on a nightcrawler and stopped it dead just inches from safety.

he mostly upset with me because i refuse to wear a t-shirt that says "it doesnt matter how i played as long as i beat atwood". he's pizzed because a) i have never lost to him, and b) i realize beating him is as brag-worthy as being able to breathe.

So we have 2 Pebbles....that should definately be an OMB team :D

You not losing to Mark isn't the great accomplishment...enduring the putting is :D2005 and no Atwood sightings yet....miss you brother and I am sure Frank and the rest share that...a fun fellow to say the least :oand not a good track star!

First off, I don't think my Pebbles would want to play ANYTHING with Pat-Pebbles /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif, and second, I don't think he could stand the fact that they'd probably take her drives more than his if they did play doubles  :D:cool:

Andrew,

Kevin, Mario and myself run the Wednesday minis now. Brian's wife has had or is fixing to have a child so he stepped down for the year.

I'll be there for a little while tomorrow, but I won't be playing since I have to run to Austin Thursday morning to help run COTO as the TD for Waterloo.

The draw is done at 6pm so sign up early or we won't let ya in, due to problems we have had recently with people showing up while we are drawing and the confusion that causes.

See ya there sprout. When do you start basic training?

Here is a little history since 2005 hasn't brought them together much

2004 Season

Wichita Falls Parker 117..Josh 122
Denton Parker 121 Josh 125
Carrollton Parker 259 Josh 265
TX10 Finals Parker 110 Josh 118

but wait 2003...and they were both in rec at one time

Carrollton Parker 276...Josh 256

and the finals... Parker 122 in Rec and Josh 117 in Am...

The battle continues :D

Im I the only one seeing a trend here?:.... it appears that bbd did beat me my first year playing disc golf.... what you guys dont know is that when I was in rec I had a prostetic right hand, I was playing left handed back then.... thanks to smerfs (by the way... those teletubby things... are they not the offspring of smerfs and barney the dinosaur?) research, it is apparent that once I had my right hand re-attached I commenced to whup him by an average of over 5 strokes a tounament.... untill weekend before last anyway... but we all know I stubbed my toe on the way to the first teebox.... oh and the course was a temporary course... and lets not overlook the fact that I forgot to make my bed that morning.... you guys all know how bad you play when you forget to make your bed right?

Krell stole it with a nasty 53..it was a windy dog out there and the Porter crew is having mini's at GB on Wednesday..looked like about 20 of them, but they just won't start before half the round is played in the dark..
