haven't you used this line on this board before? I suppose originality has been put aside for this fairly weak attempt at a slam.
Due to the lack of original content, the use of coattail smack (trying to use another user's smack to make you look funny), and the general lack of humor in the post, this smack does not meet the standards we have tried (and continue to try) to impose on this board. In an effort to maintain a quality smack environment for the users and lurking readers of this board, your post has been summarily rejected and will be returned promptly. Thanks for trying and better luck next time!

it's a radio giveaway. you send in your info, and they pick a random entrant each hour during the work day. If you call in fast enough, you become the "workforce employee" for that hour. It pays $100/hr, except on Thurdays when it's $500 per hour. If the person whose name they call does not call in, the previous hour's "employee" stays on the clock. Since this giveaway only runs 9-5, GW just got on for today's last (4:00-5:00) hour and won $500. If tomorrow's 9:00-10:00am employee does not call in, Gary stays on the clock for that hour. That situation can be repeated every hour till somebody manages to call in after hearing their name.
Will that explaination suffice? :)
garywatts
Mar 03 2005, 07:30 PM
92.5 KZPS is a radio station here in the DFW area, on weekdays from 8-5 they randomly call out a name, you have to go to there web site and fill out a form, you call in in the aloted amont of time and it is yours. Thursday is 500 dollars every hour and the other days are 100 dollars an hour. This is the second time I have won in the past 5 years.

I got to jam with Bo and Jim a few years ago. They (at least used to) have a band called the "Frontal Lobotomy Boogie Band" and their drummer lived across the street from my ex. This was like 8 years ago, but it was alot of fun. I sat in for Bo on a few songs and just jammed the rest of the time. good times :)

OK... I'll bite. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Why would you be less affected by the mud than those of us who wear shoes? Do sandals not still have a sole to them? I'm failing to see what the absence of material covering the sides and top parts of the feet have to do with making a sandal "less affected" by the mud.
In fact, I would think you would be more affected by the mud, since it would also get in between the bottom of your feet and the sole bed. Slippery on bottom, slippery on top... I'm thinking that wouldn't be good.
sandalman
Mar 04 2005, 02:23 PM
soles are roughly the same, so thats a wash
the biggest factor in this case is my feet weigh the same wet or dry - and i can wash the mud of by dipping them them in the pond or creek. so i wont be weighted down at all.
the slippery mud between toe and shoe sounds good on paper, but it actually doesnt work that way - the strap keeps the feet extremely snug and tight to the sole. no slippin occurs.
the chaco sandal really is a phenomenal disc golf shoe!
bambam
Mar 04 2005, 02:31 PM
Interesting... I hadn't thought much about the weight factor. The shoes I wear are incredibly light, so it didn't even cross my mind. They do get heavy when the mud cakes on them, but I can usually find a stick or something to flick off the excess mud with. I can see how periodically washing the feet off in a creek could be quite refreshing, though.

Mar 04 2005, 02:33 PM
do those sandals have cleats on the bottom? b/c with all the slop, traction is going to be a concern. I think I'll try to pick up a new pair of water socks and wear my cleats. They have a top *and* sides, and they lack the awesome toe strap, but I think I'll survive. :D
discgolfdog
Mar 04 2005, 02:58 PM
$900 and counting. Heard you on the radio when I was at lunch Gary.
I rarely see Pat slip in wet conditions. I always thought it would be easy to roll your ankle in those sandals. Never seen him do it though.

well hell guess i got booted, they did not call at the noon hour, did any one happen to hear if some one else called in??

sandalman
Mar 04 2005, 04:13 PM
in heavy mud, cleats are no better than slicks. the mud just cakes on anyway and you are on a flat surface.
chacos have a heavy vibram sole. great for natural tees, great for cement/concrete, great for sand. they work in mud as well as any sole can.
as far as rolling over, the chacos really do provide incredible stability. i thought it would be a problem when i first starting wearing them. i had been wearing salamon x-treker, a mountaineering cross shoe. i have rolled my ankle in those several times, both playing golf and trail-running back in the catoctins (maryland). i have stepped into hoels, bumps, whatevers, many times in the chacos, and believe it or not, they have better stability! due to the design of the strap the shoe actually pulls the foot back upright instead of allowing it to roll completely over. the closest i've ever come to rolling over was a few months ago out at crowley on the pipeline hole... rolled it enough to feel a twinge, but 15 minutes later it was completely fine. in my salamons (which are a legitimate shoe) i would have done some real damage i am sure.
tops and sides are way overrated

I use baseball-style cleats which resist this condition much better than the grass-football style. It takes quite awhile to get to the "slicks" condition with these, so I just keep em clean between holes. 10 seconds worth of cleaning with a stick every 2 or 3 holes does really well. The only time I won't go to the cleats is when the course has concrete teepads. Those are the bane of the baseball cleat. Since CH does not (at least not yet) have concrete pads... I'll be just fine. :D
sandalman
Mar 04 2005, 04:37 PM

hey frank you are an [*****],, looks like it will be - omb's flip flop, stupid dumb butt, seach party,, ygb's smurf, turd, Mr. 500 oh wait most of the holes are to short for him.... :o
here's an idea, 3 on 3,, that way you guys dont have to worry about how i play,, think we could just stomp a mud hole in there buttocks..
Frank, Johns is downtown on lower Greenville, kinda out of your way, but if you want to meet there ok,, or we can blow it off.

team golf there's an idea, and flip flop man knows how to score it.
sandalman
Mar 04 2005, 11:12 PM
3 on 3 is silly for those courses isnt it? i mean do we really need 3 shots at a 210 foot hyzer???
sandalman
Mar 04 2005, 11:14 PM
team golf is different story - that would be cool with 3-3. and i do know how to score it!
i just got done printing up a bunch of nice scorecards for each course - i'll bring em and pass em around to everybody tomorrow
27dogs
Mar 04 2005, 11:16 PM
oh wait the three of us against those three that wouldn't be fair. :Dwe may have to give them strokes. :ogary your right but with all the bragging you do on the place i gotta try it one of these mornings,.
sandalman
Mar 04 2005, 11:19 PM
actually team golf (match play) would be perfect! each player would play one-third of the holes against each member of the other team. if we're playing 36 then a match would be 12 holes. whoever wins the most holes wins the match. whichever team wins the most matches wins the day.
i like it. i like it a lot!
garywatts
Mar 04 2005, 11:20 PM
if we dont do 3 on 3 then we would have to flip for doubles,, frank think about that we could be partners,, now that would be the sheet :D

todd/murphy/crill were -4/-10 and frank/gary/pat were -6/-8. clayton/josh/keith were 4/-2
we played two playoff holes at 3/2 each and decided to call it a wash.
TMC made about 6 50+ putts. pretty amazing. we cant complain after gary knocked down a 45' off my drive on 14 coyote and frank then called his 125' knockdown on 15 coyote. we went 2/3 on 17/18 beaver to go into the 36th hole (hole 1 beaver) tied. TMC's tommie was 15' past the p[in sitting 2. but pinkie's skipped off a tree and settled 4' right of the pin for the push. we played #2 from behind the driveway. TMC drive to about 40' and i got a roller 2' behind them then splashed out on the putt. they came up 40' short on #3, and i parked it one foot short, 6 feet left. after two misses, their last hope drained it for the push. some clutch shots on the last three holes FER SHUR!!!

Howdy Dallas. I'm an OM(B) from Lubbock, and have work in Dallas this week (and about every 1.5 months for the foreseable future). I've played most of the courses in the past, but several years ago...being old and having slept some since then, I sure could use a tour guide(s). And maybe a few side bets along the way. Mostly, my schedule will only allow me to play Denton Monday, then Carrolton/Dallas proper area courses the rest of the week-evenings (possibly). Gary gave me the scooop on his preferred courses (kind of had the same thoughts). I've printed the pdga coordinators...expect calls.

Too bad there isn't a decent course near this burger joint in Plano, JC's Burger House. I'm sure Ray and Duke can confirm that this is one awesome burger! Their regular burger is a 1/3 pound burger. Yes, you can order doubles, triples, and quads. If you order a triple and eat the whole thing, they put your picture up on the "Wall of Triples." One kid has his picture up there twice stating that he ate two triples in one sitting!! Three pounds of beef in one meal! Yikes - that had to hurt later that day on the other end. :D

Pat, the concept of riding someone's coattails does not have to do so much with your performance or standing in relation to that person's, but more to do with trying to "mooch" off of someone else's accomplishments instead of standing on your own merit.
Now this lesson is free, but the next one will cost ya. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I just wasted 10 minutes of my life reading the nonsensical babbling of 2 OMB lunatic minds... This thread has gone downhill, folks. Let's pick it back up. FRANK SUCKS! :D
Dolese for me and Murphy this weekend. I guess DFW OMBs are too SKEERED to make the trip, even to support the JDGF

Mar 08 2005, 06:16 PM
We need some more OMBs.
I'll see what I can do in the next few years. :p
bambam
Mar 08 2005, 06:29 PM
Yes, I know who WillyC is.
I, however, do not feel the need to cower to anyone who has ever won a DG tourney before, as you seem to today. :D

"I, however, do not feel the need to cower to anyone who has ever won a DG tourney before, as you seem to today"
huh? i'm not cowering. claydog is ruling 2005 so far. thats not cowering, thats a fact. i'll do my best to thwart him, and quite frankly, i am probably the only hope.

The only reason BamBam is even debating this is b/c he didn't see your performance... er, *lack* of performance at CH on Saturday. Had he been privy to that pathetic display, he would probably not bother. :D
To pre-empt any attempted (albeit lame) comebacks, I too played horribly. At least I am not making claims I can't support
bambam
Mar 08 2005, 07:14 PM
I know, but it sure threw ya there for a second or two, didn't it? :D
Claydog does seem to be playing very well this year, so far. I think there are several of us that are plenty capable of beating him on any given day, however. Frank and myself have already done so... in Arlington, even... haven't you heard? :D:D:D

Mar 08 2005, 07:22 PM
That's OK, Josh... I was present for most of his CH tourney performance. I know he was good enough to be two strokes down to me through three rounds, even though I couldn't hit a 10-foot putt all day long. Yay Pat! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Now I must get ready for the onslaught of weak-*** comments about how I didn't finish the tourney. (yawn) ;)
reddman
Mar 08 2005, 07:30 PM
Yeah, but did you finish the fourth round of the tournament? :D Oh, wait. This will be ignored just like Josh's post since we aren't OMBs. :D

Uhhh... we both shot 57 the second round, Patty. And in the third round, you beat me by two... if that's an *** kicking, then I guess my 4 stroke lead on your after 1 round was a complete and utter embarrassment to you.. a pummeling, a pounding, a throrough dismantling of your game... pick your favorite. :D
Seriously, thanks for the smack, Pat... it's been a fun day :D

i was, am, and forever will be the first to state that saturday of the Big Show at Cedar Hill 2005 AD was a complete and utter embarrassment to me, sandalman. my game was so thouroughly dismantled i was even behind you! i dismantled it myself - you see i take credit for both my great days and my bad days. i thought about not even coming back, but that would have made me a quitter.

geez i can't leave you guys alone for a minute. :Dpat pat pat, you have a lot to learn on this thread. :p oh and i am a dues paying member of the adga. i'm glad you made predictions though because the last time that happened the ones predicted to be on top didn't even make top 5. top three were tabor and bam bam and myself. so this weekend will be fun to see the outcome. this i will tell you. you will not beat me and clay dog will have to work if he wants to beat me and that's a fact jack. :D

It is really too bad all those TX10's were not sanctioned since I spent 2004 there...I placed in all but 1 or maybe 2 I played and my rating last year was based on Denton and years of bad golf before that...
Bring it OMB's...I may hunt you in Tyler!!!
