There was once a team of YGB's that went to play some golf...and ruled the school!!!!!!!.....

Todd and Woody - both aced....Woody did it on his very last hole...and they split $265..

Adam tied for 1st place after a rules decision that was incorrect, but I am still completely happy with...I lost on the playoff with a WOODY shot...my only one all day...I NEVER even hit a tree all day...the conservationist I am.... :D

Deidre and I decided to hit Weatherford today instead of the McKinney event. I had my first DNF ever after I pulled a muscle in my right arm/shoulder. I'm not sure the name of the muscle, but it's definitely in bad shape. Deidre had a caddy the second round :) I might have the day off tomorrow, and if I do I'll be going to the doctor to see how long I have to rest it before playing again :(. I'm thinking I'll be ok to play this Thursday, but I'd really like to play Athens this coming weekend so I might have to sit out and rest for the tournament. Either way I'll be there on Thurs. Maybe since it's just Porter I can throw easy and putt and whatnot. I threw a few after the pull and as long as I throw 2-finger or light overhand, I'm ok. The occasional backhand shot still hurts though, even if I don't put anything behind it. What a shame to drive all the way to Weatherford and play a new course (very nice course, BTW) and not even be able to finish the tourney :mad:

Anyway there won't be any practicing for me this week and I'll have to see how the muscle feels on Thursday before I decide whether or not to play. So where did you fellers play today? just GB and Audubon? SCORES? :D:D

I've got to be honest with you guys... I'm a little worried about Sandalman. I mean, he's got to be taking this a bit hard. His beloved Discgolfdog has been beaten, quite soundly, by a Dallas-area DG'er. His world must have been shaken to its very core this weekend, and I'm not sure how he'll handle it.

Does anyone know his number so we can call him and check to see that he is OK? If need be, I could probably take off work a little early to drop by and check on him, just to make sure he's not depressed to the point of becoming invalid or anything like that.

Clay, I hurt the arm Friday last year. If my thumb is healed by this weekend I'll be there.

Playing 150 ft. holes over and over in a c-tier isn't exactly my strong suit. I either threw right into the ground or overthrew the basket. Smurphy would just put it within 30 and sink the putt. It was fun to watch Adam and Shawn battle it out. There was a ruling by T.T. that made it a tie in first place. Adam was gracious about the ruling and a true gentleman. We had a great time that round and I look forward to getting a chance to redeem myself against Adam soon. Congrats again.

I'm really not sure if I'm going to do Athens. I've decided to play the NT in Waco, so I'm not sure Athens fits into the plans financially. If there's a big OMB field I might change my mind. Last year was a pretty small field for us though. :(

I had never played Z-Boaz in that format myself. I didn�t even realize that most of those goals had placements like they did. Then again if you check my last few years at McKinney during the Alex Clark Memorial I usually am terrible on a shorter course. One of the guys on our card rolled #15 both times. In the morning he made it and I just couldn�t believe someone would try to roll that hole even though there are not tons of options. 2nd time he smacked the tree right off the tee-pad.

I'm not sure I'd ever say Porter is "for sure" when there's rain in the forecast. Of course, it hasn't rained a drop here in Denton all day today... ya just never know about those weatherman, right BBD? :p

I hope we can play Porter this week, though.. it's a fun course that I don't seem to get to play enough.

That's a great course. Yeah, last year it came a freakin' Noahesque flood, but hey, weather's a [*****].

The Cain Center is a great course with some very memorable holes.

I got to play Porter Saturday night and noticed some alternate tee boxes marked out there.

So today I snuck in a round playing from those. I found most of them and played a fun round.

Anyone know anything about those alternate holes/???? Are they playing them for doubles or something???? It makes a fund course. Some holes are longer, other really change up the holes. i only shot 2 down in the wind today from those tee boxes.

The one on 13 was missing, but i found evidence of where it was.

I could not find one for 7,8,10

Some holes have ones marked with red paint, 1,2,3,4,5 These are different than the other ones.

Here is where they are

#1 rope further back along the railroad tracks.
Red paint - by the kiosk
#2 Rope just past the last tree by the railroad tracks.
Red paint - before the last tree by the railroad tracks.

#3 Rope, straight up the hill from the basket (nice hole BTW)
Red Paint, straight up the hill from #3 tee box.

#4 Rope, back from the Tee box.
Red Paint, on the other side of the creek near #3 basket.

#5 Rope - back towards the creek from #4 basket
Red, even closer to the creek

#6 Rope - In the shul past the basket, it is marked with orange paint on the outside part of the trees.
red Paint - makes the hole longer by moving down the street towards #17 tee box, almost straight from #5 basket to the street.

#7 could not find any

#8 Rope was just moved back some.

#9 Rope was halfway to the regular 9 tee box.

#10 could not find any

#11 Rope was moved way back to before you cross over the mud. nice hole.

#12 Rope was moved way over down the fence line. the only shot is really over the top

#13 No rope but could see the evidence of paint behind the tee box.

#14 Rope down from the tee box and too the right. Tee off next to a tree with a small window throwing over the creek.

#15 Rope close to the sewer crossing regular 10's fairway.

#16 much shorter hole, near the street.

#17 near the creek after hole 5

#18 too the right of the regular tee box and closer to the hole.

Therre is also an alternate hole for #19 or the added hole between 16 and 17. It is way to the right next to the creek.

Bryan - I would like to play tomorrow also if I can. I will try to let you know tomorrow morning....waiting to see if this foot is going to heal up in time....

arm is still pretty stiff... I'm not going to throw until Thursday. I'll try warming up then and see how it feels. I can throw 80% at porter and still beat the OMBs so I'm pretty sure I'll be playing :) As for Athens, you are crazy to not be a fan of that course, especially with the added holes. I hope Mace follows tradition and does 3 rounds of 24 with a cut and the crazy final 9. I'm not sure if I will be able to make it or not since I'm supposed to be oncall this weekend. I'm working on getting a coworker to switch oncall weeks with me so that I can play. I guess we'll see

I can beat you at 80% at Porter b/c you suck at Porter. BTW, I hurt my arm about 5 holes into the first round. the last 13 holes or so were either *very* painful backhands or thumbers, flicks, etc. Plus, I wasn't in last place. Even not being able to throw backhand, I still had 1 stroke on last place. I finished the 1st round like a man. Played through the pain. Then I got smart and decided I wanted to heal for this weekend :D

The muscle is feeling better today. I think with some old-man muscle cream and avoiding too many 100% throws, Woody and I can take out you ancient loser punks without much problem.

Deidre and I are planning on Live Oak golf next weekend. Sure, it's a 1-day event, but we can do touristy stuff on the way home Sunday. There's a pretty cool drive-thru wildlife ranch on the way back to DFW. We went there last year and got some great pictures. There are also lots of other things to see and places to go... Just because there isn't organized golf on Sunday doesn't mean you're travelling down there for just 1 day.

I think I can make 5:30 or even earlier. Woody, wanna join and make it dubs?

Porter Alternates:

#1 - behind the original pad about 50ft...anhyzer shot..could be a hyzer but the telephone pole is right there.

#2 - another anhyzer..short of the original pad on the hill

#3 - sweet...straight up from #2's basket...too bad it will never work with nov players..they will hit apartments at times

#4 - Hyzer

#5 - Nice Hyzer line or a mando on the right tree would be sweet!

#6 - Pointless...pass the tree 10 ft in front of you and you have a birdie...just to the left of #5's basket in the woods

#7 - we found this one Bryan..it is across the Creek...and close to the extra hole (16B)...shorter..nice hyzer

#8 Deeper..same shot...could be moved to the left 5 feet

#9..shorter.hzyer...on the way from 8 to 9

#10 - This was just past #9 and to the left...longer crush to the pond..or across if you have the cahones (sp?)

#11...Nice, but another one newbies will push into the right side (private property)...landing at #13 seemed to be normal

#12 - HYZER>>HYZER...past the original pad

#13.. - just behind the original..not worthy of shooting..across the creek behind the pad might be nice..even at the top of the hill

#14 - Shortens the hole and makes it a definate lay-up or GO...good ace run if you hit the hole

#15 - added distance...nice hole still and a easy bird if you crush it

#16 - shorter on the left..I birdied...should be longer, not shorter..move it to the left corner or elsewhere

It all depends on how much rain we get over the next day or so. That could limit our choices.

We could always play the Lake course from the alternate tees that were put in a couple of weeks ago. I have played them, and they are fairly different looks at the holes, and are pretty good, for the most part. There are a few of them that are nothing special.
