I don't think I will make it this week.. I will talk to Jay and see.. He lives right by me. I only drive to wrk a couple of days a week. I carpool with a friend, so I can't go unless I have a ride home.. OK, here's the format for this week:

To appease Frank, we will be doing BYOP dubs again this week, and there should be a few players without a partner, so come on out and play regardless. Those who didn't bring their own partner will flip for it. If you don't get a partner, then you can play 2 extra shots per hole. Kinda like "double cali doubles".

Because Bear Creek has both Regular and Advanced tees, as well as A and B pin placements, this part really needs to be specified: We will be playing ALL LONGS except for hole #9 which is nearly unplayable from the long tee due to tree growth. On a couple holes, the "long" tee is not much longer, rather more difficult. So look for the "advanced tee."

I hope we get more than a few players, but this is a tough park fomr some folks to get to. Next week will hopefully be Audobon, but Denton is next in line if Audobon is unplayable. Those of you who play in other minis and like to talk smack, spread the word. Issue a few challenges. Let's get some people out to this thing :)

I'm not sure if I said anything about it yesterday, but I was out at the course yesterday. Hole 1 is better played from the Advanced tee when in position A. It had been in position B for awhile, and nearly unplayable from the Adv. pad, but now that it's moved back, it's a little too easy from the Am pad. As long as it's still there, we'll play it long. If somebody moved it to position B since last night, then we'll play the Am.

For those of you that don't know Bear Creek very well, it's a MUCH different course from the long tees, and the holes with alternate pins really change it up too. Here's the layout as of last night:

Adam and I still have some unfinished business with the Frank / gnduke team. Once we put that to rest at Audobon next week, you can carry Frank for awhile. Last night Mr. Watts carried Ms. Dorsett all over the course. I think they used Frank's drive on holes 2, 6, and 16. The rest was all Gray. Maybe you should team up with him instead, BamBam :)

Between Frank's griping about playing doubles to his taking a break to go swimming for 20 minutes on hole #15, he really hurt the OMB team. The result was -4 to -2, with Gary making a solo birdie on 18. I have no idea what the CTP count was, but I know we were up by quite a few. Frank doesn't seem to want to keep track of CTPs when all his throws are in the trees or in the water :D

I will take any partner I can get, and I will be at aquabound next week to join in on all the fun,, no more driving to Mars to play around for me though.. all though it was kinda fun watching Frank splashing around in the chitty water..

I still beat Josh and I was chewed up and spit out and then stepped on by the back 9 of the Beast. Shot the front 9 at 30 with three birdies and the back at 41 with 2 birdies losing my approach/midrange driver on my first shot on hole 9. What happened to ya Josh :o

He had to play all the short pads in waco, he still plays with the rec kids... and no there are no short pads at audobond.. there are three different tee placements on #2.. I guess if he is parking that one then there must be a 4th up real close to the basket.

3 placements on #2???? I have always played the top of the hill up by the city electric equipment. I know they also shoot directly below that through the trees, but what is the 3rd placement..????

adam there is a anhyzer shot now on 2 that can be parked if you hit the line, all the trees have been cleared out on the left side

up in the corner, fence line and tree line, straight at the basket, i would guess 350 maybe, they had it maked there when they were doing all the line construction, still was not that easy of a shot, kinda hard to throw 350 straight

OK, fellas. After an absolutely devastating round at the Beast in Waco, I hope I can play on Thursday :) I have no excuses, and I have no explanation. All I know is that I played like I had never picked up a disc before. Couldn't release correctly to save my life. The only high points of my round were a birdie on #5 into a heavy headwind, a 120' or so field ace on #9, and a par on #3 (561'). Other than that I sucked worse than anyone else playing that day. It was one of those rounds that actually makes you contemplate giving up the sport.

Anyway, Atwood got his money from me and has been relatively nice about it :). On a lighter note, Deidre is really showing progress, finishing 5th in FW3. At least I can be proud of her :D. Not only is her golf game improving, but how 'bout that schmack?!? Frank's gotta be hurtin after that beating. How's it feel to get out-schmacked by a girl??? :eek:

And I feel your pain about the round on the beast course, at the charity am's i shoot a 62 compared to the 71 I shoot on Saturday,, I did think for a while about giving up on tourny play,,, not

I shot a 63 on the beast!!!!!!!!! That was my ultimate goal for that round, as I figured it would be almost unatainable. Shot +2 on the front 9 and +7 on the back.

My next goal out there is a +5 and I know I can do it...just can't miss too many fairways w/o really paying for it.....

heh yeah. in my case it wasn't the course that beat me as much as it was me kicking my own arse. When you burn worms into the brush in front of and to the left of #18's teepad.... something's wrong. My release was WAY off to the point where i was more confident with my sidearm shot than my usual backhand. In fact, a couple great sidearm shots kept me from getting close to +30 (!!!!!!)

I have shot a +5 out there, and I'm a better player now than I was then. I'm pretty convinced it was all in my head on Saturday. I made a few mistakes and they got to me so bad I lost all confidence. Thursday I'm just gonna have 3 or 4 CFOs before the round starts. That'll keep negative thoughts out :D

For the last time, there is NO REASON to stay in a division for a ZT10 bonus!! It mattered last year, but this year it's done completely differently. Murphy, Woody, all you baggers, MOVE UP!!! you will still get your bonus at the end of the season. Plus, in ZT10 al the am divisions cost the same to play. might as well move up and get the experience of playing with a tougher group. If necessary, I'll explain it all on Thursday, but as Mr. Duke has posted MANY times, the bonus is not affected by what division you play

Joe and I played the back side of the Beast again after awards and payout before we headed back to Dallas.

There are 2 "bonus" things going for ZT10. Here is how it works:


Points Race:
Every event you play in this year earns you points based on how you place for that event. Once you have played in 4 of the first 9 events, you are considered "qualified" for the tour bonus (see below) and to receive BQ event points. the BQ (Bonus Qualifier) events are not part of the ZT10 series, but they are partners. This means that each BQ event you play (regardles of how you place) gets you +10 points for the ZT10 season. last year and the year before, we had divisional titles. He who had the most points in a division won a basket. This year is different. The total points are going towards vouchers for discs, so that everyone shares in the "bonus point" money instead of just a few. Your points are your points, no matter if you move up or down. If you win the first 3 in MA3, and get 25 points for each win, you should move up. You then go to MA2 with 75 points to your name, and earn more points there. There's no loss for moving up. You could play MA3, MA2, and MA1 all in the same season and still keep all your points.

Tour Bonus:
This is different from the points race. Part of every entry fee paid to the ZT10 tour this season goes into the "Tour Bonus." There is also cash added (presumably by sponsors) to this bonus, for a total that should be close to $20,000 this year. Once you play in 4 of the first 9 events on the ZT10 season, you are qualified for your piece of this bonus, regardless of what division(s) you played in or how you placed. How you place in the Tour Final in Lewisville decides how much of this bonus you will get. There will be many people who do not cash in the final, but because they are qualified for the Tour Bonus, they will take home at least a little something. Let's say that whoever wins MA1 at the Tour Final event is also qualified for the Tour Bonus. He will get paid out MA1 1st place cash for the event, as well as MA1 1st place bonus cash. If the MA1 winner is not qualified, he will still get 1st place MA1 cash for the event, but 1st place MA1 *bonus* cash goes down to the highest placing bonus qualified participant in that division. So, if the top 10 MA1s are not qualified but 11th place is, 11th place gets paid out 11th place MA1 event cash and 1st place MA1 bonus cash.

I know it's complicated, but this is how I understand it to work. gnduke, please correct me where I'm wrong... but I'm pretty sure I've got it all covered. The basic message here is: MOVE UP!!!!!!

I'll play MA1 in all the ZT10 events except for the final, as I'm already signed up for MA2. Any PDGA events I play will be MA2 unless I jsut get a wild hair :) I'm not sure if we will play the fling this weekend. it's 100% up to Deidre since Saturday is her b-day :)

Good to hear...one last week of working over Gary and Frank and I think we should start either bringing our own partners all the time, playing flip, or using some system that gary proposed earlier with an average ranking...the more we can get to travel around the metro..the better...I know it takes alot of driving time, but the fun pays off...we can always keep expanding and having a blast...(happy face for Frank :D)

I am trying to get my wife into playing.. She is against it just because!!!If she would try it she would love it!! We took the kido to the park on the 4th and my wife and I were about 100' apart.. I threw 3 putters towards her trying to get her to play.. She threw them back alright.. From 100' she could put it within 10' of where I was standing. Some of them came right to me..no kidding.. I was amazed.. I may have thrown enough compliments her way to get her out to a course!! She plays softball on Thurs. though :mad:
