directions are easy....on your way into greenville from newbern just keep straight...thats charles blvd...take that all the way to campus and make a left at the light when you cant go any further downtown....that will lead you right on green street....take that across the river....after you pass the concrete place make your first left followed by an immediate left and the course is dead straight!!!

Met with the people from Recreation and parks with Stew and Pygmy about tee pads...I will be marking the tee areas on Wednesday and then very very soon Parks will be digging the areas out but we will need to shape them and put the frames in..after that the concrete will be poured...what the club and golfers need to do are 2 things..we need to do the finishing touches on any tee pads that have bveen dug up by Parks and we also need to coordinate a workday to put the frames in the gorund..more info will be coming..

Remember..monthly this Saturday..also Ice Bowl Date is now set for January 29...more info to be posted on that soon also..go play golf..its nice putside today..

Monthly is on for Saturday, January 8, 2005. Players meeting 9:30 AM and tee time 10 AM..usual entry fees...normal format...don't forget 3 Rivers is the next day at New Bern...
More to come..posting in sections..making easier to read for the ADD followers of HazMat...

Ice Bowl is set for Saturday, January 29, 2005...Players meeting at 9:30 AM..tee time 10 AM...entry fee for all divisions is $10 and 2 canned food items ..with each entry players receive a disc and a mini...first round is a mulligan stew format (no we are not cooking our Treasurer, Mr. Goodson)..golfers can buy extra shots for $1 each shot with a max of 5 mulligans a hole...this round will be from the white tees...all money raised from mulligans will go to the charity/food organization we select..we are still finalizing which charity/food organization...second round will be from the whites also and will be a doubles format...partners will be based on scores from the previous round..the highest scores will be paired with the lowest scores...there will be an overall winner and divisional winners along with many CTPs...remember this is an event for fun and charity so score is not the main thing..and the motto for all Ice Bowls are "No wimps..No whiners

Monthly for March is tentatively set for Saturday, March 19, 2005.....the theme for this event is "March Mando Madness"....every hole will have at least one mando on it from both tee pads..some mandos will change between rounds...a few will be easy and some will be challenging and some will be just silly...just a format that is unique and fun since GVDG is a unique and fun club...the name is a pun on basketball march madness....
As you can see, no planned golf playing events for GVDG in February but there are many around the state..Sunday February 6, 2005, is Jacksonville Super Bowl Monthly...Saturday and Sunday, February 12-13 is the Buckhorn Open in Raleigh...Saturday and Sunday, February 19-20 is the Winter Coastal Plains open in Jacksonville...

Meeting with Recreation and Parks happened Tuesday with Stew, Pygmy and me discussing tee pads and trash cans...they have not forgot about the trashcans and will be doing it as soon as they can...the tee pad installation process will work something like this..I will be painting the tee pad areas this week hopefully on Wednesday...when they can they will get a front loader to break the ground in the designated areas and move some of the dirt...we then need to take those areas and make sure a 4 foot wide by 8 foot long by 4 inches deep area is prepared and smoothed so the frames can be assembled and put in..after that the cement will be arranged to be poured...we need golfers to work on the preparing and smoothing of the areas..when we go to put in frames we will have a workday to do that and some more clearing of the courses rough areas..we also need to have some people available the day the first batch of concrete is poured to help..as soon as we get that date it will be announced..Recreation and Parks are very pleased with how things have developed so keep up the good work...

OK..all the news for now..I am sure I will have some after tomorrow..going to work on course and contact potential sponsors..keep the sponsors coming..we are getting closer...nice shooting at Jacksonville this weekend SchweBB..I would love to know the rating on those rounds..

Thanks to all who came out today..great shooting to new course record holders..MTL from the whites with a -10 44 and to SchweBB with a -10 45 from the blues..nice bogey free day to him also..I will post the scores later on our web space and then post the link here..

ok, Scotty give MTL his props, the course record, that he set from the shorts was a 14 down 40, and you had ith right with Schweby had a RIDICULOUS, 10 down from the longs, and if you havent played the longs at the MEADOW, you will understand why a 10 down is ludacris for the long pads when you see the course, so MTL and Schweby very big props to you both

The thing was, that lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng name was causing a problem, making the screen too wide...this one's better. ;)
