90 pros/90 am to be more specific

not true.

If there are 60 advanced golfers, 40 ams, and 50 pros, I'm sure they would put the 40 ams with pros and then everyone else with the advanced.

A few years ago, they did two pools of amatuer golfer to accomidate more ams.

I being novice and not thinking said huh? He said you know a B.S. Beast? I said a Bull S>>t Beast? then Schweb starts laughing and says if that is what you call it. I didn't know why he was laughing and I walked away toward my throw. Then it hit me that he was talking about a Barry Schultz Beast. heres a story joe to make u feel better...

In high school I was in band - actually was a scholarship for 2 years at ECU for marching band (insert jokes here)...anyway...

I made the all district band my senior year and was at the clinic. This amazing composer / conductor was working with one of the other bands. Not only was this guy a phenomonal and world known composer, he was also my high school directors mentor and college professor when he was in school.
My band was on a break and I wanted to go see him rehearse but other kids from my HS told me that was a total dick in rehearsal. So instead of going inside the rehearsal, I just stood outside.

As I'm standing outside, this lady comes up to me and asks what I was doing. I said "just watching and listening to rehearsal". She says "oh why dont you just go inside?" I say "I'm afraid too - I hear that Dr. Stamp (the conductors name) is kind of an [I'm a potty-mouth!]hole". She says "Well, I think you would be ok to go inside." I say "why would you think that?" She replies "B/c I know he won't get mad - I've been married to that [I'm a potty-mouth!]hole for 10 years now."

Thanks to Adam, Bert and JonVee for doing some work on the course on Tuesday...Bert and JonVee helped clean up the guardian tree on hole 13..JonVee had the idea to make that area an OB island in the DEPC...Adam cleared out the back bench area on hole 9 and it looks a lot better..we also cleaned off some of the vines on the trees on hole 14 to make them look better..also the small dead tree by hole 8's basket has been removed..

MTL21676
Oct 05 2005, 11:45 AM
.JonVee had the idea to make that area an OB island in the DEPC

Interesting idea.....my thoughts....personally I don't think you should add OB here - if you behind it, its a penalty and you are gonna have to throw a great shot to get a three - by making it OB, you pretty much garunteeing a 4 no matter where they are or who they are - give the person a chance to save his 3 after a bad shot.

scottfaison
Oct 05 2005, 01:06 PM
I see your view..the reason the ide of the OB is being brought up is because of how much of that tree/island area got bush hogged and made it a lot easier hole...if you land behind it your not OB but you have to get around (just like you normally would)..if you land in it that would be the OB...I have thrown a lot of shots that sneak through it that use to get caught up..now if we could plant some magic trees that would grow in 2 weeks we wouldnt even need to worry about it lol..the idea behind it is it makes a greater risk reward from the blue tee and makes you play it purer from the whites..we might experiment with it at 3 Rivers or a doubles and get a feel for ir (like how we did with the current tee blue tee pad on that hole many months ago)..this way we can get a better feel for it..

If you want to give me the money you can call me if you are in town or see me at Monday doubles...
Why the 9:30 AM tee time..the change in time is coming soon and daylight hours are getting shorter...also we are not exactly sure how long the rounds will play with a tournament crowd (backups, flow and the likes with 50-70 people)...also it allows folks from out of town to get home sooner on Sunday..also on Saturday we have to make sure we have time for the basket toss..I would rather err on the side of caution and have plenty of daylight then have the basket toss or awards be occuring near dusk...I hope that helped answer those questions

If more clubs took the initiative you all took and acted like you all, we could get a lot more done." The course looks sweet. The blue pads to the new positions on 11,12,13,15...butter, not parkay. Anyone that can score a birdie on 11 blue in the new placement is DA MAN. Distance for hole 11 is sick, 430 feet from long pad to long pin, and 343 from the short, so it will be a butter shot if you birdie it from either, oh and schweb hole 15 from the long pad to the longest pin is 623 so enjoy it, its a monster

Yes, our touranament was a success. The course looked awesome and everything was smooth - we all know this.

What needs to happen now for the club and tournament is we need to take it to the next level. Don't settle for what we have - if we can put the same energy into the course and tournament this next year as we did for this past year, imagine what it will be like.

Start playing games when you play - stuff like BOB on the hole has to pick up some trash or has to pull a vine - get creative and lets take this to the next level.

eddie_ogburn
Oct 25 2005, 12:04 PM
B tier next year!!!

scottfaison
Oct 25 2005, 01:26 PM
In my opinion, we keep doing what we have been doing and what we are doing. We still are not done with the course yet so we cant really take it to the next level, we need to finish this level. After we get this done we can see what we need to focus on next. If we keep the same focus and work effort that we have now, the next level will come on its own because that is the course we are on. So many times we look too far ahead and miss the things we need to do now. I have all ready been thinking and planning things for the '06 Ice Bowl and also for the DEPC '06. So don't worry, the work will continue and we will reach that "next level" but in due time so we do not skip a step.
I love the idea of trash games or work games. And yes EOG, our goal is B-Tier for '06.

The date for the November monthly is Saturday, November 12. We will have the pins back in the alternate positions for the month of November. There is no open weekend on the PDGA calendar so we had to pick the one that might have the least conflict. The format will be the normal one. Also the yearly Turkey CTP will be up again. Every year the winner of it gets it by acing LOL. Tee time is at 10 AM, players meeting at 9:30 AM. See everyone there.

Question??? Does or should your player rating dictate what division you play or should play in?

bschweberger
Nov 01 2005, 01:44 PM
I think you should play in what ever division you feel comfortable or competitive in. PLayer ratings are not always accurate if you dont play in enough sanctioned tournaments.

But people that have consistantly placed in the top 5 to 8 with a few 1st and 2nds thrown in and have played sanctioned events......shouldn't they move up?
I know the term bagger gets thrown around for fun, but isn't that like a true bagger? The idea is to be playing at a competitive level and advancing through the developmental levels if you are playing sanctioned events right?

MTL21676
Nov 01 2005, 04:40 PM
My 2 cents...

On one hand, you are gonna get better playing with better players. On the other hand, having a PDGA win and seeing your name in the magizine is quite a feeling.

I would say most golfers who joined the PDGA early in their career have a PDGA win in INT. I know I do....

Nov 01 2005, 07:48 PM
get that int win.......if ya start there get one....i had 3......now thats baggin......but nada in adv so far......but its all what you wanna do and how far you wanna take disc golf for you personally.......ill probally be adv my whole life.....ill never dominate advanced and never cash in pro......so im good right here.........my idol is robbie dunn

Play where you want to play, Joe (just play it again) :p TThe Pro said it right. Don't worry about the division, worry about the players. Play with the players you want to compete with. The Int. win is nice...I know, it's the only one I have...but moving up will help you, if your serious. Just be prepared for a possible butt-whippin' or two
Just have fun doin' it ;)

Sucks, but that which does not kill us makes us better golfers, right?! Anyways, just wanted to let everyone know that I do still have game, I aced 13 @ ECU yesterday. It was a tremendous straight shot that plowed into the basket, could not have been more perfect. And yes, it was a CHING ROC which supports my conclusion that CHING ROC's are the best discs ever. Hells yeah Joey. This years Moe.'s will be sweet. Can't wait to see the King's court. New Bern is gonna need a workday to remove some serious debree to make 8 (one of the sweetest holes in NC) to make it playable. Can't wait!
