sorry (Yall know i cant spell or type). but i was wondering near the end of the year if we could retire the bag tags for 2004. What i mean is the # you are holding is the number you keep and start a new Bag tag next year and the money raised for new tags can go to the club. just an Idea

Man, I can't figure out this posting crap. I finally figured out how to do it. Just want to say that I hope everyone is telling all their bagger and non-bagger friends to come out and support GVDG, 3 rivers too. The more money we make through monthly's & CFR's, sponsorships, etc the more cool stuff we get to do for the club. YEEEAAAHHH! Yo Scotty, I asked my bossman about sponsoring a hole. He sounded a little reluctant but me and Dub will keep trying to get him on it. If not, me and Dub are gonna sponsor one, probably next month or so. Aight guys, we'll be out at The Meadow 2day. Tag match and ace runs. Peas

Biggs, I feel the tags should go at least a full year. J Clark started them.... well I think it was the morning after I last got laid....so mabye way to long ago. Next spring we should be able to do something, and mabye run it through the club. Oh, and a big congratulations to my boy, the original 0 time champ, J Clark. 1 time now.

Yo Biggs. Sounds like your plan needs some fine tuning man. What do you mean by we would just keep our old #. Is that supposed to be like a points standing or something. OK update..Hole 1 tee area/18 basket area has been worked on and is cleared out a lot..hole 11 and hole 13 back tees have been trimmed and are playable thanks to Stew and his hard work...all back pads are playable except for hole 10..it is playable..just dear God..don't miss the fairway..this is why we are not playing it this weekend more and likely...tennis balls have been put on top of the baskets on top of the pole to act as a barrier from disc getting cut from the pole...more work will be done tommorrow...
scottfaison
Nov 11 2004, 08:30 PM
Oh yes..some yellow lines have appeared on the course..HazMat made me put them there...hole 2 has an OB "black ice pond"..hole 3 has an OB corner..if you go OB early just play from drop zone..if you go OB after drop zone..play from last spot inbounds...hole 5 has OB right of the basket...hole 6 and hole 7 use the split rail fence as OB..parking lot and softball fields OB of course...hole 11 has a casual area marked with the same yellow paint but is not OB..if a disc goes in here..play from directly behind the disc in lie with the basket without a penalty stroke..you will be punished enough going in for your disc...hole 13 has an OB line right of the fairway..anything right of this will be OB in tourney..not casual..and since some people dont like fairways..there will be 2 mandos on hole 14..these are basically there to make you play the hole the way it was designed..as a tunnel shot..not a hole to throw out and around and over a softball field..the mandos should not come into play unless you are intentionally trying to throw over the hole..please don't complain about the OB or else HazMat will require more yellow plaint and a sacrifice of lost CE disc...

What the hell did you do to Scotty MTL. Why you gotta be haten! Aight, anybody who wants to know, New Bern is da [*****]. Me, Jeb, Fred, and Grant went to check it out the other day. There are all real baskets there, 16 Discatchers, 1 Discatcher Sport, and 1 Mach 3. In case this doesn't impress any of you, then let me tell you it's awesome cause we've been putting on homemade [*****] there for a long time on some of the holes, but now we don't have to deal with the "Fan Basket" or the "Grill Basket" anymore, shweet! Also, they put in tee signs; look out for the one on 18, it's directly in front of the tee pad (the Rotary Club put all the signs/ baskets in so blame them if you hurt yourself). Also, hole 15 is incorrect, they put the tee sign in the wrong place. Someone moved the Blue Pad from the correct spot ( all be it a better hole, it's wrong). Other than the bull, the course is frickin' awesome man. So if you see any city workers or Joe out there tell em thanks for all the hard work he's put in to get Glenburnie to where it's at now. Best course East of I-95, no lie. Great time of year to play it too, so go and check it out. Kick some butt, or play the blue pads and get your but kicked. GVDG for life *******!

And I mean. What more can you ask for in a DG course? There's a beautiful sig hole that plays on the neuse river, more elevation than any course around here, blue & white tee's that are completely different shots, distance and control, OB, big fairways, bathrooms, water fountains, picinic tables and grills, shelters galore, lots of little tadpoles (after those rainy summer months, ya'll know what I'm talkin' about), the Waste Treatment Plant that sometimes provides an aromatic display that could turn your stomach, and who can forget the ever present *** community :DSuch a splendid course. So now that everyone knows that New Bern is the heat, let me give everyone a standing invitation to come play. Any, and I mean ANY time someone wants to play New Bern call me and I will drive, accompany, guide or carry any one to the course. It is just the most beautiful course I have ever seen, and I've been to Rock Hill and Cedar Rock. Castle Hayne is awesome, but New Bern is more fun, and might I add a lot closer. By the way, I shot a 52 from the longs in NB, and I rule the Meadow (course record) and have really gotten turned on by it. We have a great course which should enable all of us GVs to kick anyone from the Raleigh area's butts. This includes, but is not limited to: the NCSU football team, the Hurricanes(after the strike), Governor Easly, Cedar Hills, that *** American Idol singer, and RADL members. LOL! Don't forget Raleigh has Zebulon and Buckhorn my friend. But I'm partial to both GVDG and RADL. One thing is for sure..... I can't wait to play New Bern! DEP4LIFE! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
cant we all just get along??? i dont think that greenville's new course will enable us to whoop up on everyone in raleigh...maybe everyone else you said jeb....but lets not get ahead of ourselves
is anyone going to play NEW bern Saturday? if so give me a call. kell's sick and i need to get out of the house. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I got my first round in at the Meadow this past weekend. You guys have put in a lot of work. Keep it up. Saw a lot of briars and poison ivy out there. Keep on whacking all those vines to get them outta there!!
Also, the tennis balls were a nice touch, but I think they would do me better if they were on the trees instead of the baskets cause I hit a lot more trees than baskets when I was out there.

I just wanna send a congrats out to Adam Baker, Sean Gough Chris Cox and Josh Johnson for playing in Durham this weekend. Playing out of town only makes you a better golfer and builds the quality of golf in Greenville.
That was my 30th PDGA tournament this year and I can honestly say it wa one of the funniest years of my life. I grew as a golfer over the stretch, but more importantly as a person. I am really lucky to have the money to get out and do what I love every weekend.
I want to encourage everyone to play PDGA's like crazy next year. Start in December with One Moe.

Hey guys, Fred and I went to Kinston yesterday to help out Joe and the guys with some cleanup. Hole 2, 3, & 4 are lookin perty good. The back 9 is lookin aight, Joe and Mike went out a few weeks ago and cleaned them up. For the most part though, the course looks good. Nothing too drastic that will shave strokes off your score or anything. As we said yesterday, " We're not really giving you a chance, just a fair chance!" Go play NB. If anyone is interested, call me or Jeb today. Yo Shweb, wanna play NB?????

I appreciate it Rob, even though I played like *****. Congrats to mus for cashing, first time he did and I didn't.
Rob is right, playing out of town will make you better, especially if you like to play competive golf. Play tournaments if you got the $, if not, play casually for the fun.

Yeah Mus, congrats man. Good to see GVDG up in the rankings. Getting around to new courses will definitely improve your game. Shooting under par at your home course is good. It'll improve consistency. But trying out your game at other parks, learning new shots, how to through long and short control shots, hyzers, Anhyzers, thumbers, etc. will definetely get you ready to take on competition in tourney's. But, keep on putting. Putt, Putt, Putt, Putt, Putt, Putt, Putt, Putt, and then Putt some more. Oh yeah, reminding everyone that there is a club meeting tonight, Pyg's house. Be there, and if not, Happy Thanksgiving. Anyone interested in some good golf, go to Castle Hayne on Friday, me and Jeb are meetin a few buds down there, hopefully will be kicking some [*****]. Will report in at a later date. Peas.

Yo, I have a question for Sean & Mus. Right now, B-Dub and I are looking into sponsoring a hole with our boss. As is stands, he might do half and me and Dub would do the other half. If that falls out, would you guys be interested in sponsoring one with Dub, Jeb and I? Just throwing the idea out there, let me know. Oh yeah, yesterday I posted that we're gonna be playing in Castle Hayne. Ya'll should come check that [*****] out with us. If your fam will let you tear away from the for a day, give us a hollar! Once again, have a great Thanksgiving and we'll see ya on da flip side.

Matbe I got alittle ahead of myself. We can't kick EVERYONE in Raliegh's butt. We can play much more competitivly(?) with our new course. Maybe I over stated my position because of how badly I play at Cedar Hills. Still, we should be able to do more. In other news, I was planning on going to Charleston next weekend and play the Classic. I looked on the site and see its filled for ams, or almost(2 spots). I was thinking about splurging and playing pro. Figured what the hell, I got a hotty to stay with downtown. So if your going, maybe you should play pro too(MTL) Oh, and if I cash, no matter the amount or more importantly the luck, I promise I will accept!!! Any way, going to Castle Hayne tomowo, maybe playing Jax, Richlands, Kinston, or New Bern saturday. Call if your interested, 670 8766. Jeb -
I'm going to Charleston and have no one to ride with. You are welcome to ride with me. The only thing is if you play pro, pros and ams are at different courses, so I don;t know how that would work. I'm staying with JJ and C Lee, so they could get you to the course of you could get a ride to the hotel.
I'm playing adv for another year, so just deal with it!
I wanna play Kinston and New Bern Saturday - haven't played those courses in a while - hit me up
Homegrown on Sunday - around 10:00 start - they are pretty slack. I would get there around 9ish. Entry is usually 11 (including ace) no matter the division. I played two of these last year and its just a group of the older guys that you probably only saw at the FL open.

Also dont forget that 3 Rivers is the next day in Kinston and the Festivus is Saturday night at the clubhouse at my apartments. If you need more info please feel free to contact me. Keep up the good work and attitudes, espically about doing work at The Meadow and other courses. We also have another sponsor now..Christy's Euro Pub..so please visit them and tell them thanks. We will discuss more at the Festivus so I hope to see a lot of people there...and you can bring a friend or loved one. Have a great day and eat more turkey.

ATTENTION THREE RIVERS PARTICIPANTS:
It has come to my attention that Kinston still needs some work on a few holes. It has been suggested that Dec. 5th, that we take the morning for about 2 hours and do the cleaning. Then after lunch we'll play one round from the long tees. This one round would be the tournament for December. I would like to hear some feedback on this issue. I realize people come to play a tournament, not clean up, so I want to put this out here for everyone to consider. Let me know your thoughts on this idea.
MTL21676
Nov 28 2004, 06:48 PM
Heres the main problem with that (please keep in mind I will be in Charleston, so my imput may not matter)
Lets say you have an average crowd show up, so probably 30. About half will know of this clean up idea. The tournament was annoucned today at Farm Life - what if someone from Raleigh gets up and drives 2 hours to find that we are working on the course. While I think its a good idea, I think it is bad timing for this.

Rob, I am going to try and get this weekend off to play Charleston. Was hoping to have off for the monthlies, but I've heard so many good things about the C-town course. I am looking for a way down there and around to the courses, and your set up seems to fit. If you still need someone to travel with, and there is room at the hotel, I might be able to make it work. Call me 7078046. I work Monday 8-4,5,or 6, Tues. probably the same. Leave your number if you leave a message, not sure if a have it. I know this is last minute, but I hope I can do it.

I dont count. I'm from Gvegas BEYOCH! :p As for your idea Jody, its a good idea in theory. I would be out there bright and early if there wasn't a special someone in Gville I dont get so see very often. I would probably spend some of the time with her. Its unfortunate but I would guess most people would use this as an excuse to sleep in an extra 2 hours. Also, it may even prevent some from making the trip all together. Some probably couldn't justify driving all the way to Kinston for a ONE round mothly. I'll be there either way and if we work I will guarantee at least half an hour of my time for working on the course.

I would go out and work if that is what is decided. I will be back anyways to run the Saturday monthly at The Meadow. It's almost like we all realize now how important these local courses are and we want to get them cleaned and looking good. This is a very good thing so keep up the good work, just make sure you don't get burned out..take some time to play on what you have worked on. Speaking of work, I will be working at The Meadow once I get back in town so if anyone wants to come out just call , email or showup....nothing too intense. Jody, whatever you decide is cool with me..you and Robert have been huge for disc golf in this area and its only right we help if that is what you decide. The only thing I would have to say is the amount of work we get done is directly related to the amount of golfers that show up.

With no sanctioned events in the state this weekend, and the one Moe the following week, we could get a pretty good turnout. I'll be in this weekend for family business, but I'll most likely sneak away for Scotty's monthly, and the party that follows. Don't know if I'll make the 3rivers, but if I do, I'll clean and play, whatever Jody decides. I do think that people should know that they are showing up to a workday if that is the deal. But Kinston in the cold may attract less people than we think. Whatever.

richmond hill is a tough course, and true some holes have issues, but it works you none the less. you have to throw good shots to hit those narrow fairways. my personal best is a 5down, with par 58.
The course to play up here is mars hill. Completely different, with wide open crushes and some tight woods. Even mTL couldn't complain about this course.

OK..I will be sending this out in an email also but needed to post it here also. Some of the park users have had concerns about the recent number of dogs that are unleashed at the park. Remember..this is a public park and falls under the rules and ordinances of Greenville. This means that there is a 24 hour leash law. All pets must be on a leash when in the public. This is for the safety of the owners, pets, surrounding animals and park users. Please be conscience of this when using the facilities and then no one will have any issiues with dogs at the park. Also be responsbile for any "gifts" that your pet might leave on the course, in other words scoop that poop. :) Thanks.

Went to the course to look at some potential changes. The idea for a blue tee on 12 was looked at and the hole will not be changed, so we will still have one tee. The idea for a second pin though is still a high possibility. There's a good chance we will play a "trial blue tee" on hole 13 Saturday to see how it goes. The reason it is trial is to see how it plays and also we still need to talk to the Parks about it. I will try and have hole 10 blue tee playable for Saturday, but I am not promising anything :) The course keeps looking better and more worn in so keep playing and working, we still have a way to go but everyday we get closer. Ready for the Festivus Day?

So here is my problem with working at the three rivers. I'm a broke-[*****] college student. Therefor, I don't like the idea of paying 10 dollars(+1) to play one round at a course I've never played well at. I'll be there regardless. Scotty, I got some ideas about changing # 12 at the meadow. I've noticed the shortest holes on the course are the ones with no long pad oppurtunity, for example #s 6, 9, 12. With twelve, we could throw the pin out behind 13's pad, and throw the tees in the middle of twelves current fairway, Of course, this is just an idea, and we'd have to find out about the land ownership. There is plenty of room over there, it would be a shame not to use it. Any way, I'll be out today and definitly tomorrow. Congrats to our favorite CASUAL golfer Schweb, but no picture and trophy for you. Oh, and I started negotiations with our favorite (head)shop Ripple City on snagging another sponsorship. I just need a packet.
scottknapp
Dec 03 2004, 04:07 PM
I think the chick who owns Ripple City is from J'ville. She used to live across the street from Northeast Creek Park. She may have played a time or two. Moe and Bobby Cummings are friends with her. Her name is Christy Koren unless she got married and changed her last name.

Dec 03 2004, 04:09 PM
Oh yeah! I am good friends with the guy who owns Michaelangelo's Pizza up there in Greenville. I will give him a call sometime soon. Hole sponsorships are $500 right? Business name on the tee sign right?
jonvee
Dec 03 2004, 06:36 PM
Yes Scott the sponsorships are 500 for any entire hole, and the name is on the tee sign, check with scotty for the appoximate sizes
Okay here is the deal about 3 Rivers tommorrow. This is not set in stone, but it is the most likely scenario. We'll probably tee around 12. My plan is to play 18 holes from the long tees, and then the front 9 from the short tees. We will not take a break between rounds, it will be 27 straight holes with the same group. This all depends on the size of the crowd. I'm not expecting much more than 20, and as long as its less than 30, we should have plenty of time to get in 27 holes. I'll probably be out there around 9, Joe Weldin is the one that mentioned the clean up day, so I am gonna talk to him to make sure its a go. If I do not post anything different, this will be the schedule. Forgive me for any inconvenience, I posted as soon as I was told the clean up situation, so its last minute for me too.

Two news flashes....First, the fund raiser T-Shirts are in. The have the ECU hole 13 stamp on the back and also on the front where a pocket would be. They are grey with the print being in blue. We have long and short sleeves, and the cost are $15 and $13 respectively. If you want one, and you know you do, contact Pygmy or any GVDGer to get one.All the cool kids will be wearing them. Second, Greenville Recreation and Parks has said that they have committed $1500 to us for tee pads!!. Things are only getting better:)
TY scotty for everything you are the man......

Burt took the open. His 47 the second round was hot. Joe w shot a 45 the first round, I got a 48, and Durham transplant Kyle Jackson took the AM field shooting a 49 in the second AND would have cashed in the pros. The course looks great, Kinston Parks and Rec are going to clean up 11 and 12 this week, and I hope everyone enjoys themselves Sunday. Its a shame, I've been playing some of my best golf recently and haven't been able to compete in any sanctioned events. Too much stuff this weekend. And congrats to MTL and Schweb, good work in Charleston. Did Land take his first cash?
