hey guys, it's divot reporting in! tried to check out the scores but they don't have the totals for Big Valley up yet. Hope you guys had a great time. Tulsa is definitely going on. The trip started out kinda round. Our flight from Greensboro was cancelled at 2am on Saturday. In a rush, Sean, Fred and I got our flights switched to another flight, and ended flying through Orlando and then on to Tulsa. We were split up though, and Rob and Jeb had to drive back to Raleigh and get a flight through Chicago to Tulsa. Fred, Sean and I were getting loaded in Orlando at 10 in the morning. 16 oz Sam Adams and a Jager shot, definitely the way to start off our week long adventure. Meanwhile, somewhere over the mideast Jeb and Rob were flying first class sippin free liquor drinks, reclining back in their ridiculousy comfortable chairs enjoying hot towels. We got back together in Tulsa, and watched 200 "Freedom Riders" welcome back an injured soldier. And this was all before 2pm. Then we got our rental and headed to the sweet house we got hooked up with and met the parents and some of their friends. We played Hunter yesterday. Fun course; the shots were pretty tricky. OB creek throughout the whole course, a little elevation and oh yeah, wind! Then we got gutted on mexican, and chilled out at the house. This morning we woke up and played Haikey. Really really pretty course. Lots of distance and some shorts techy holes. Ask us about "The Guantlet", haha. Then we got lunch and signed in for the tourney. Got a sweet players pack; Revolution weekend bags, 3 discs, lots of minies, and cool course book that shows all the holes with descriptions, pictures, distances. Also, an AM Worlds dry fit. Pretty cool stuff. Then we went and played McLure. This course is fun. Made really good used of a hilly park that has lots of swirling wind, some tricky uphill down hill shots with fast greens. This is some fun golf guys, really fun. We met some Texans today too, and they were pretty cool. Gonna play The Hawks and Divolio tomorrow, and get ready for some great golf. Hope you guys are doing good. Have fun at dubbs tomorrow, and keep an eye on us. peas

Good luck crew and keep us posted..now some local news...
Congrats to Ryan, AJ, MTL, JD and Max for all placing in the payout at Big Valley...nice shooting by Millsie, PByrd and Stew, I know it sucks to be the first person out of it but you all still played good...hot last round Max and I hope you get those 3 points to make it a 1000 round...
The "Robert Wynne" Bagger doubles was fun tonight and in true bagger style, 2 of the top 3 teams happen to be Pygmy/JonVee and Stew/Myers...at least there was one team that was in the top 3 that had a true am as a partner :)
We still miss ya and think of you Robert Wynne. Thanks for the putter you gave me years ago, it came in handy tonight. I guess I will use it again in another year. You will always be here with us in spirit...BAGGER!!!

What up guys. Reporting in. We've made it through the first two day, with warms up I'd say roughly 200 holes. We're fighting through them and having some good times. All of us have had some cool people on our cards, having a good time. I think Jeb and I will be in A pool to start the day tomorrow. Pretty sure Sean, Fred and Rob will be in B pool. We're gonna fight hard to get back in it, Mohawk should set up well, quite reminiscent of NC. Check the scores for the rounds, they go like this. McClure, Divillio, Haikey, Hunter - Shuffle. Alright guys, we're about to grill out with some local folks, We'll be in touch, peace.

Well, you have to look at who posts here. The quality of the thread, the information it provides, the laughter it creates has nothing to do with it. If you had the 10 greatest posters in history on here, then the thread would be rated much higher. If it was just regualr posters, much lower even though they could post the exact same information.

Just to let everyone know, the basket toss will start Monday August 14. Its $1 for a shot or $5 for 6 shots. We will have a qualifier from each of the 4 weeks who will be in the finals at the DEPC. You can also qualify at the DEPC on Saturday after the second round. Everyone who makes it into the finals will win something. Please support this side event if you can because this is how we are raising money for your player packages so we dont have to take it out of your entry
scottfaison
Aug 08 2006, 12:40 PM
The DEPC will be here sooner than you think. Get your entries in as soon as you can. This makes it easier on the TD and also makes sure you get in. We hope to get as close to 90 golfers as possible (we can go to 95 if needed). We had 60 last year and want more golfers to enjoy the hospitality that is GVDG.
Dont be scared of HazMat's Mando, it will only hurt you for a little while...

Aug 08 2006, 01:50 PM
DEPCup will be a good time this year guys (as it was last year), so tell everyone you know to come on down. I think we should have a workday to clean up some vines/briars. One hole I really want to work on is 17. There is half a tree down and the briars there are ridiculous. There should be plenty of cabbage to keep the errant shots being punished, but I think the briars should go. Also, cleaing up around some teepads would be good too. Let me know if anyone else wants to help out. See you boys Thursday!
scottfaison
Aug 08 2006, 02:02 PM
We will more than likely have at least one workday a month before the DEPC to clean up areas. All of the holes will get a look at and see what is needed on each. Briars and vines have always had the green light when it comes to pulling them. Even though work days are great, it seems to me that a lot also gets done when individuals go out and do work that is approved or is common sense ( like the limbs WOP and Jeb worked on with hole 11). Tee pads will be worked on the week of the event so they will have the best look to them we can offer. I will post on the workday part of the website what each hole needs done so that way people know how they can help.
Niec shooting yesterday WOP.

Just got in for the night.Ran into Bert today so he got here ok.
Saw the cards for tomorrow and I'll be playing with Ken Climo tomorrow - should be a memoriable round for sure.
Played Pendelton today (onlyplaying it once and I've played it before). 1 non birdie hole and its an easy three. Def. a shredable course. Lots of low ceeling stuff (reminds me of Florida courses).
The did putting contest and I did the EDGE. Putted good, all I know is 3rd was 18 points and I got 13, so I'm hoping to cash at that.
After some laundry at a laundry mat, we headed out to Lake Olmstead which is an AWESOME course. Beautiful, challenging, fair. JJ called it a mini USDGC course. This course is def in my top 10 and is just very well designed.
Heading to bed. Keep up with me and Bert's progress on the PDGA tour link.

Aug 09 2006, 10:04 PM
Finally got underway today.
Started on a great golf hole where I just layed up off the tee and got a simple 3 - Kenny threw ob and got a 4.
Played ok, didnt throw very well but was scoring - getting up and down. Hole 10 is a perfect roc shot with ob left and i didnt get over on it and took a 5 (OB right off the tee). Next hole is a mini 888 from USDGC and took a circle 5 - everyone in my group, even the champ, threw OB on this hole. Rest of the round was just a 2 here and there. Saw Barry on a really hard par 4 throw it in for a 2. Round finished with a good 2 on hole 1 for a 56 (975ish). At the end of the round there was a gallery and players were asking for my autograph which was just cool as crap. There was a big leaderboard where the had our last names on and they took a pic of our group and are going to give us a copy for free. For the first time in my life in this sport today, I felt like a professional.
Round 2 was at the monster course. My strategy was stay away from OB and just get course birdies here and there. Only one OB stoke and it was on 1150 foot hole where I took a 7. Rest of the round was solid and ended up with a 62, which is around 1000. Kenny's 50 is an amazing round. There are two holes out there you are garuneteed to get at least a bogey (par 5's) and another par 5 where 3 is possible, but tough.
I'm in 48th place, in the A pool, which was a goal for the year. I'm having so much fun! Tomorrow we are in the woods and I hope to make my move!

well worlds is offically over for me :(
I really had a great time and finished wih a 1011 round. MY morning round wasn't as bad as the rating shows - I shot 10 strokes worse and those 10 all came on 4 holes - the holes with no trouble I threw good on, the ones with trouble I threw bad on - not the way to score on this course at all.
I knew I had to shoot like an -8 the last round which would have been like 1070 to make the top 60, and I was exactly right cuz I shot 53 and missed the cut by 7. The final round was one of the best driving rounds I've ever had - I missed 5 putts and took 2 ob stokes (which for this course is not bad at all) and still shot over 1000. I was happy to finish with a good round and so much fun this week. These courses are awesome and people really should get down here to play them.
I'm getting up early and watching semis and then I'll be watching finals tomorrow afternoon. While I was little upset with my performance, I really onlyhad 2 bad rounds and I'vebeen in a slump lately, especially with the putter. I really feel my confidence is back now, especially after the last round. If I can get myputt back to where it was and the way I've been driving, I'm really looking forward to tearing it up soon again. If not, I will always have fun, and this week was a blast! Thanks for all the support from you guys!

I just wanted to let everyone in Greenville know how much I've enjoyed playing golf with you. It's been a great place to learn with a lot of talent. I'm headed out of town at 5:30 am tomorrow morning for Madison WI, where I'll be attending the University of Wisconsin for grad school. Thanks to Max and my little bro T Byrd for helping me load the van. I'm gonna try to get down for DEPC, but if I don't see y'all for a while, take care and have fun on the course. If you're ever in WI give me a call and I'll show you around the courses and the bars. Take it easy, go Badgers!

Wow guys, I am truly impressed. Even though I won today I think I got more satisfaction out of taking it to the course with shovels, posthole diggers, concrete, trimmers, and lawnmowers than I did with my discs. We got alot accomplished today and it truly shows that with some innitiative we can accomplish large tasks. I think this is a big step forward for the course as far as fairness and asthetics. As soon as signs are on and we can clear a few more fairways to our liking, I think we'll have ourself a pretty dang good course. Not that the course isn't good as is, but we can only improve by removing briars and uneeded underbrush and down limbs. This year around I think people will truly be impressed by our efforts and that will be a grateful day for sure. Thanks again for being a great group to work with, you couldn't ask for a bettter (or funner, however you wanna say it) group to be in a club with. peas.

Sounds like things are looking good at the meadow, I wish the workday could have been a week or so earlier so that I could have helped and seen the improvement to the course. This is day number 8 in Madison, WI, and so far so good. It took about 23 hours in a Budget Truck with car trailer to make the journey. Overheated in the mountains and had to sit on the side of the road for 35 minutes, but all was smoothe sailing from there on out, driving wise that is. I picked up some sweet stomach bug between Nashville, TN and Louisville, KY, so dinner didn't stay with me Sunday night and I subsisted on crackers and ginger ale on Monday. Once health was restored, disc golf resumed. The three courses in the Madison area are Elver Park, Heistand Park, and Token Creek. Elver is on cross country ski trails, has two pads for each hole and multiple pins. Awesome ending hole- ca. 500 ft down a huge hill. Good mix of elevation and trees. Heistand only has one or two flat holes on the course. Playing this course can be a hike, but well worth it. Most holes have two pads and multiple pins. Token Creek is beautiful (cut out of wild prarie land and sparse forest) and challenging. $40 for a year membership, $5 for a day. Apparently you're subject to $160 in fines if you're caught without a pass. Token has two pads per hole and three pins per hole. You have to know how to throw a lot of different shots on this course. All three courses are awesome, making the decision concerning which course to play tough. Tonight it's league singles at Heistand though. If anyone's ever in the area, look me up. Fold out couch, sweet golf, and bars galore await. Peace.

If anyone needs a place to crash for the Oak Hollow tournament this weekend give me a call, I'm about 70 miles away. I'm thinking about attending this event anyway. Obviously playing any course blind is going to be challenging, but how hard is this one for playing it the first time?

These are courses you could play blind for sure.
The shorts at Johnston Street are like the shorts at the meadow. Granted, it is a tad bit tougher (I'd say more like the original shorts)
The longs are a great course. There are few tricky shots here and there, but most of them are pretty easy to figure out.
Festival is wide open and except for a few holes with OB, is pretty obvious. Just trust the distances they give you, not your eye!

Trust me, I emptyed my bag and brain to give him all I had. He actually had me throw thumbers and tomahawks at the camera man in the ball field and we had some close calls, real close. Classes at ECU are cancelled today. Glad I got up at 6am to find this out. I am also glad I looked outside and realized I forgot to get Mrs Scotty's WVU yard decoration and welcome sign in. I did find them but I wonder if this is an omen of things to happen on the 23rd of September. Now I am just hoping that the the grill did not get beat up too bad. That would be a tragedy that Mrs Scotty could not deal with

I will be playing beach golf:)
FYI, the schedule for the upcoming 3 Rivers is out. The next one is September 10 @ New Bern. If you are not going to the FDCs or the beach, try and go support them. They are making some changes this year in the scoring system and in entry fees. These changes are so they can make the series better for all the competitors. Pro entry is $15 and am entry is $10. You can see the schedule at 3 Rivers Schedule (http://www.3rivers.gvdg.org/schedule.html)
Good luck to all at either event. I know my weekend will be 1000+ rated
