UPDATE...the Disc Golf Charity Marathon is scheduled for July 30-31. The monthly is set for that Saturday, July 30. I have sent emails out with information about both and about other club news and events. Sorry I have not posted or emailed a lot of information lately but real life things have kept me busy. I can't wait to get back to The Meadow and see all the hard work that has been done and play some golf. Keep up the good work!!

There will be some softball playing at The Meadow on the 4th.arrive between 9-9:30ish AM...bring gloves..wooden bats will be used..meet at the small field...winning team gets apple pie...Pygmy is hosting this so you know it will be fun and food...doubles will still be held that day at 6 PM...sounds like a lot of fun..I would be there but I will have a apartment full of family (8 total) and we will be taking in the sites and sounds in DC...have a happy and safe 4th whatever you do...

Just wanted to thank Greenville for Thursday night doubles at the meadow. I also wanted to invite everyone down to Kinston. We have got the course in the best summer shape you have ever seen. A lot of trimming and a lot of spraying. We have a small club started and have a nice web page that is updated often. Me, Scotty, PJ, and Max played RIPT at ECU today.

One card makes you swap lies with your opponet. PJ parks hole 4 - scotty takes a Roc and throws it as hard he can sideways, and hits a small gap - well, I'd say pures a small gap actually. The disc landed on the right side of 6's fairway.

Me and scotty are laughing like crazy as PJ throws - well he put it about 10 feet from the pin.

Just a classic moment.

I created a Stout 9, more of a final 9. Please, if the course is not crowded, play it, and see what you think. Scotty shot a 30 today (-3) and that was the best.

incase anyone was wondering why i wasnt at dubs yesterday....i was fixing my printer at work and the paper that was jammed up was near the hot spool that puts the ink and toner on the paper and i didnt think i as close to it as i was and burnt the crap out the tip of my middle finger....right hand....so im gonna take a little break from throwing so i dont pop that blister i now have.....good playin by all the gvegas boys up in chapel hill.....sorry i didnt represent until the 4th round in chapel hill......oh well.....im such a let down!.....good luck to everyone thursday at dubs and hopefully ill be good to go by monday night!!!

In other news, I just found out that I did not get the job in Rocky Mount, which means I will be moving back to Raleigh next week. I will miss this area and it has been the town that has really made me love this game.

The monthly on July 30 will be a regular format and we will not be doing the LAF Charity marathon. This is due to 2 reasons. The first is there was some communication problems with the group organizing the event and second there was hardly any interest shown by you golfers in participating in this. The packages needed to be ordered before the event and we have not received any orders so it was decided to just cancel. There will be a regular monthly though on Saturday July 30. If you are interested in doing the marathon, you can go to Raleigh this weekend.

Robert Wynne was in a fatal car accident this morning, on his way to greenville.
i'm sure all our prayers are with his family. it really hurts to lose one of our own. i figured you guys should know.

Everyones prayers are with Robert and his family, anything that yall think we might be able to do to help out anyway let someone know, maybe we can arrange something to help his family, its the least we can do for a good friend of ours.

Robert Wynne will truly be missed by all of us. He was a good golfer and a great friend to those who met him. We will always remember him.

It was a really nice service, it was rough at times, but we all had some good laughs and good memories of Robert

It was always a joy to play with or just hear/see Robert on the course. Its amazing how sad it is to loose one of the disc golf community members.

Last night at J-ville doubles (Which Scott said some very nice words---not easy to do in front of a crowd) Jeremy Lee suggested that we put together a fundraiser tourney sometime next month. Kinston seems to be the local favorite to host the event...but does anyone have any other ideas????

Robert carried the three rivers series for a long time with Jody, and he definately had an impact on disc golf in eastern nc. least we could do is have a tourney in his name.

I wish I could have attended the funeral. Sean, I'm off work Fri. afternoon and Sat. and I'd like to join you. Man......I'm stunned. Robert 's a great man....never without excitement...I've enjoyed many rounds with him; he's always been a staple of down east discgolf. I'm going to go have a drink in his honour...my sincerest thoughts and prayers are with Robert's family and everyone in the discgolf community. Man, I'm sad. Rest in Peace, Robert...we all love you.

It was always a joy to play with or just hear/see Robert on the course. Its amazing how sad it is to loose one of the disc golf community members.

Last night at J-ville doubles (Which Scott said some very nice words---not easy to do in front of a crowd) Jeremy Lee suggested that we put together a fundraiser tourney sometime next month. Kinston seems to be the local favorite to host the event...but does anyone have any other ideas????

Kinston is a good choice for next month, it just so happens that the year finale o the Three Rivers Series will be at kinston on August 14th, i think we should do everything we can to make it a fun time in Robert's memory, i know he would want everyone having fun, cause he was one of the funest guys i knew, he will be missed and the Disc Golf community has lost a good golfer and ever better friend, the term " Bagger" was made famous by Robert's constant shouting of it, no one could call out a bagger like Robert, so again i say, lets try to make this a very fun time, and a good way to raise money for his family, especially his young son. If anyone needed to talk to Jody about making something happen, his number was a couple pages back on this thread

Robert was the ultimate "bagger" shouter. I'll think of him every time I hear it now.

when is the monthly??? I still havent played this course. As for Roberts memorial tournament, myself & a few others have talked about it & we are looking at an event on Sunday Aug.21 .. I didnt realize 3rivers was in K-town the wknd before so perhaps New Bern would be more ideal for this fundraiser. Im open to ANY suggestions or help on this event. Send me a PM . CTP's will be very welcomed also.

JLee..your idea sounds great and GVDG will help out as much as we can..we will have our August monthly then August 13, the Saturday before so that entire next weekend can be to his memory...if there is anything we can do let us know...also can wait for the monthly this Saturday..doubles today was sweet..nice shooting MTL and Bert but I couldnt let MTL leave town as a winner..had to steal your thunder...

Good shooting to those who came out for the monthly...congards to Fred for his $100 ace on hole 6...BW won intermediate, Max and JonVee tied for the advanced win, and the top 4 in open were MTL, Pygmy, Bert and Dan Dill...and the good news is MTL found his keys and can move back...thanks for all the effort you have put it in GVDG..and you leave with more money than you came to Greenville with...

Come out to GVDG Monday doubles where the ace pool is $216+....hit an ace and make some new friends..tee time 6 PM, register before 5:45 PM..entry $3 and ace pool $1...

gotta love it when someone admits to throwing a shot they didnt mean to and then hittin the center gap on hole #6 and then acing it for a hundred dollas......awesome shot fred even if it wasnt what you were tryin to do.....fred, jeb, and i said we were ace runnin everything from the shorts so in theory he did it right......now its my turn to do that during doubles on monday....cuz i really need the money

If anyone is interested in doing a league this year, I am all for it. I will post details here later and also email the information. Just a little friendly competition off the course. It would be a simple format, just something we can do. Also, we could have a draft day at someones house.
