Sorry to all, just this course means a lot to me and getting it looking good...I have never wanted anything other than for Greenville to get its first public course and club and watch it grow..I know I get frustrated but you have to see it from my point and from the point of those who have put in a lot of work, time, money and blood lol..once again I am sorry and I will take the advice of Mr Spade and Simma Donnow :)

Here are the top 5 picks that are in the finals in no particular order.
1. Meltdown at The Meadow
2. Down East Players Cup
3. GVDG Open*
4. Emerald City Open/Shootout*
5. Emerald City Hurricane Open

All of the following information is important so read it carefully. I need you to vote on 3 names. Place the names in order of your preference or indicate which one is your first, second and third choice and email or PM the choices to me.
There are 2 asterisk * on the names above. These indicate that if you pick either of these names you need to indicate certain criteria. On the GVDG Open, tell me if you want the initials or the whole name. If this name is picked, we can use both the initials and whole name interchangeably. On the Emerald City Open/Shootout, please tell me which name you like better (shootout or open). The reason it is listed this way is because they are similar names and both receieved about the same amount of votes.
The criteria for making the final selection was simple. The name had to receive at least 2 votes from club members to be considered. The votes from the online poll helped break any ties or move a selection higher up on the list. As I said earlier, the votes we get from you club members are considered more than votes on the online poll at the PDGA message board. None of the names ere had less than 3 votes from club members.
Since this is a bigger decision than earlier, I am giving more time. You have until Monday, April 4, and on that date I will release the name that won. Go ask a guru on a mountain, read tea leaves, pray, ask your eightball or go ask your dad, but whatever take time and think about this. This name will be how people see us and it will be with us for a while. Once again think theme and how sponsors will see it. Each name has its pros and cons about it.
I really appreciate all the input that people have given and this makes this a much more fair and fun way to decide a name. The names that made the finals are all unique and have a good ring about them. Have fun choosing and feel free to email me with any questions.

Congratulations GVDG golfers, we have made a major milestone today. As of today, we sent a check to Innova disc golf, the last payment on the baskets!!! We can now concentrate on the remaining sponsors and tee signs should be getting designed and ordered in the future. No new word on the tee pads, but the hold up has been the weather. Parks still has us on its list of things to do soon. Thanks for the all the hard work on and off the course and a special thanks to all those who have helped with sponsors along the way. One product they make that might be of interest to disc golfers is the HandDri, which is a small drying bag made for hands. If you are interested in looking at their products, you can at their website, ClubDri (http://www.clubdri.com) . Thanks to them for their support.

There were 4 different courses played and I know for sure one of them is longer than the castle. Tourney started at 8 and ended at dark around 5:45 because of pools. It did rain a lot and the wind was sustained at about 15 with gusts to around 40. Example: I was on my knee putting into a headwind for birdie from about 12 feet, maybe less. I aimed at the bottom of the basket and hit the number plate. I also saw multiple 4 putts on the 3rd card advanced. I had one putt where I missed high right, snagged a chain and the wind blew it into the basket. :) Why do you think they call it Blowing Green?? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

And for those who don't want to wait, Raleigh is starting early. Check out Doubles (http://www.radl.biz/flyers/SUMMERDOUBLES.htm) Looks like fun. My rhyno will rule cedars.

We now have a name for our PDGA tournament. Thanks for all those who got their votes in to us. There was a point system that awarded votes to each place. A first place vote was 3 points, a second place vote was 2 points and third place vote was 1 point. That is why it was important to turn in 3 choices when you selected your options. Listed below is link to see all of the votes.
GVDG Tourney Votes (http://hometown.aol.com/scottyno2/tourneyvotes.html)
As you can see, Down East Players Cup was chosen as the winner in a very close vote. This is now the name for the tournament. All votes for Emerald City Shootout and Emerald City Open were counted together. This was the same for GVDG Open and Greenville Disc Golf Open. There was also a count going for the preferences of names for those if either of them had won. Thanks to all who participated. Now it is up
to us to make sure this is a great tournament! Keep up the good work.

That brings the total of committed holes to 11 3/4...we have some other people that are interested but have not made a final say yet...also a few of the holes that are spoken for are not fully paid off, but they are counted since they have paid some for their sponsorship...

Apr 06 2005, 02:53 PM
If anyone is interested, Tony and I are planning a weekend excursion. Our plan is to go to Cedar Rock park in Burlington on Saturday morning, the 9th, and camp out that night. We will return on Sunday evening. Cedar rock is two hours flat from Greenville, and we plan on leaving early. All are invited who wish to come. Bring your tent, girl, dogs, and discs. There are 38 holes of golf, free camping, fishing(sure to bite) waterfalls, hiking, and did I mention the 38 holes. Cedarrock is absolutely beautiful, your girlfriends will love it and you for bringing them there. A caravan would be nice, please post any commitments, questions. The only reason we will have to cancel is because of weather, I had enough last weekend in Illmington. Any one who has ever been there needs to vouch for its(the parks) unparralelled beauty.

Apr 06 2005, 03:06 PM
Just to let you know, they are calling for a little bit of rain on Saturday. Bring a tarp to put your tent on, otherwise you will be sleeping in a puddle.

Stew is dilligently working on that with Parks..it has just been a battle with the weather and timing...as soon as they get a stretch of good days and can schedule it, it will happen..remember that Parks has to set the date with the cement company a few days in advance.. so we are working on getting the timing right with 2 other entities and nature..thus the hold up..the new holes will be put in/moved when the new tees go in..keep your fingers crossed and we should have it for the next monthly..

Apr 06 2005, 05:12 PM
sweet thank you scotty, one more question how much land is out there that we are not using that we could use to improve the course ie... make it longer (coming from an am player)

scottfaison
Apr 06 2005, 05:21 PM
Umm about 1% lol..we have maxed out at land we can use..anything else is used by other park facilities, is not officially on park property or is an area that can not be used...we have used up all area that parks will allow and that they will keep maintained...in fact they have been quite generous with some of he property lines...also there will be some alternate pin placements on the course that will make use of what extra land we have...so now you know..and knowledge is power

I dont know about most girlfriends, but I'm not sure my idea of a great weekend that I would just love Scott for is to spend it with a bunch of guys drinking, smoking, fishing, WATCHING you all play lots of golf, and act like well guys........and I am a country girl who likes the outdoors but you might want to think again about asking the significant other to go or make it very exciting and well worth her while

I doubt this guy found it, but I had a very tough loss this weekend. After letting a girl use my 03 Roc at Kentwood, it is missing. If anyone is in the raleigh area and see someone throwing a 179 Candy Blue 03 USDGC CE ROC, it is probably mine, and they probably suck at throwing it. Doubt I will ever see it again, but I have to try.
By the way, directions this sunday for the GVDGers,
From Greenville: Take 264 West and take exit 63. Turn right at the sign(Hwy 258) at the first crossroads take a left.
