Yes you can Melt. One of our ams is 970 rated. and has not cashed yet.
970 rated AM??? You guys are just full of competitive spirit :(
are you serious? hopefully you were joking
Not Joking. 970 and still playing Am=lame Wait Jeff - what's your rating 964 - and you play open, and cash regularly.... how did you put it? what's so complicated?
Although the team seedings have not been made known to me, from the discussions I've heard the two 1000+ rated "masters" players on our team have just as good a chance of filling one of the 4 open spots.

okay, you're joking this time right? or, you must have a really liberal definition for "ca$h regularly".
by the complicated line i was referring to the rules john had set forth. im not going to get into a discussion about another person's decision on their playing status, nor will i get into why it is or is not lame. i think theres plenty of threads for that already. but, i assure you the person in question is not lame nor does he lack competitive spirit.

Biscoe---What is hawk hollow's condition right now? Ice everywhere?
haven't been down there but judging from my yard/the rest of the farm there is likely ice everywhere.
Will it be playable tomorrow for the nova tryouts?
depends on how you define "playable". other words which may be applicable are "treacherous" and "dangerous".

for those intending to attempt to qualify for the nova or spotsy teams for vti- the qualifying event for tomorrow has been POSTPONED- I am not comfortable with people playing the course in what is a potentially dangerous state. this is 100% my decision, the respective team captains have no say in it at all so please refrain from complaining at them. please let others know as you can. contact your team captains for rescheduling info. thanks.- the management

2 rounds from the long tees is what the plan is as of right now.
spread the word...
john---you said the discussion page for the nova site still works? how do i get there?
i'm still worried about playing on the ice tomorrow though no matter what the location...tommy seemed to think loriella has been played in this weather and it wasn't that bad...i'm still skeptical...
has anyone been out there since all the ice? what's it like?
probably be able to throw some cool skip shots off the ice...

Now that the Spotsy and NOVA teams are set. Both clubs has taken in extra money for the clubs(great cause!). Will the clubs now pay for the teams members to play in the VTI????? I think Spotsy had 16 on list and only maybe 14 showed up??? $15 for club membership and $10 entry for trying out.
14 X $25 = $350.00
I think there are 8 members on a team?
8 X $30 = $240.00
Only seems like the right thing to do to me!!!!! Club still makes over $100.00.
Or will the people who made the team be paying $55.00 each to be in the VTI??????

good luck at the vti guys...
it's too bad my streak of playing for nova had to end because i didn't want to play on ice at loriella (like many other people too)...
oh well, that's the way it goes i guess...
next time that we decide on a system where nobody is guarnteed a spot because of seniority, player rating, etc and we leave it up to an open competition for all spots it would be nice if it truly were an open competition based on skill...
not to take away anything from the team because it looks like a strong team, however i'm sure we might've been able to field a stronger team or at least made these people earn their spots....
ok, i'm getting a bit whiney now...there was a tryout that i knew about and i didn't go (because of the conditions) so i guess i have nothing to complain about...

Conditions were interesting to say the least. During the morning round, one guy in my group fell three times. The guys that were smart enough to wear some form of cleats had a distinct advantage, they could actually do a run-up. I'm not complaining, I still had fun and wouldn't have qualified if I'd played my best golf ever. The conditions were the same for everyone. I certainly can't fault those that stayed home, there were some spots that were difficult to even stand on :o

it was a wierd setup. there was 4 pros not including ryan and myself. joe was in masters. there was a rule made that we could not just play and run down the scores as they helped the team. we were forced to pick a division. jones and myself didnt want everyone in open to be guaranteed a spot, and neither one of us wanted a free spot in masters. in order to help the team jones and myself agreed to play in open, let joe get the guaranteed spot in masters and ian, naved and jeremy guaranteed. out of tommy, jones and myself, 1st goes to open, 2nd to masters and 3rd place gets eliminated. i hope that made sense.

Speaking of the BRAWL, thanks must go out to the commissioner/inventor of the BRAWL Vince Whorley for his efforts to this series (this year for the most part left-handed). Numbers don't lie, and the turnout to this series over it's inital 3 years just goes to show what the BRAWL, and Whorley, has done for the disc golf scene in Western/Central/Southwestern Virginia. Hopefully, this is only the beginning.

why was ian, naved, and jeremy guaranteed or am i not understanding something...
don't know why you guys had to declare divisions before hand...i thought the "tryouts" purpose was to find the best players for the team...if biscoe has rules set up that allow people to play in different divsions then we should've taken advantage of that...seems to me ryan jones lost out big time on this..he played well enough to get in if i understood it right.

Relax dude, and spare us all the sarcasm. Just to be clear, Tommy mentioned team NOVA to me way back in Oct. at Hawk Hollow, during which I had to DNF the tourney w/ a 102 degree fever and spent the entire second round getting sick next to my car. I barely remembered my name much less talking to anyone about the VTI. I didn't hear anything else about it until Tommy emailed me two days ago and it was only then that I realized I had agreed to play for two teams. I felt horrible about the mix-up, and found a replacement for team NOVA by end of the day. No need to whine anymore, or clog the thread with petty crap. Team NOVA has a woman for their team.

TDs are srtongly urged not to exceed the values listed in this table in determining their 2007 PDGA net entry fees.
Division Pro Open All other All All All All
Tier Pro Women Pros Advanced Intermediate Recreational Juniors
A $100 $75 $50 $40 $30 $30
B $75 $60 $40 $25 $20 $20
C $40 $30 $20 $15 $10 $10
D $20 $20 $15 $10 $5 $5
Table shows net entry fees. PDGA player fees based on event tier, plus any local club or regional series player fees,
should be added to these figures in order to determine overall entry fees.
It is suggested that B & C Tier event TDs indicate on entry forms that all current PDGA members will receive a $5 discount to their entry fee.

Thanks for the financial concerns...all is well...
Sherando and Shenandoah Shag are being run by Brandon Bailey (ME) this year...and like at all the 6 previous Shenandoah Shags, the payout will out-weigh' the entry fees.
(for Pros and Ams)
Sherando will include a players pack for ALL AM divisions, at a total of no less than $15-20 (per player)... I have not yet decided if it be a disc / shirt / minis etc...or combo of merchandise.
Both tournaments will ROCK!!!

I have skipped Sherrando the last 2 years because of the price was a little steep for a one day tournament. I got scolled last year for making a comit. I was told it was within reason. As for the Shag.... This is a tournament venue everyone needs to play. Landon's course is one of my favorites. Missed it last year due to something. I do not plan on missing it this year. The Shag does not get the support that the course deseveres!!!!! I would really like to see the Shag fill up!!!!!!

I'll be at The Shag - Landon's course is one of my VA favorites. Last year was canceled after the first round due to a nasty thunder storm...which passed about an hour after it was called. So I'll be back to denfend what was shaping up to be a relly good 2nd round (I was only down by a few to start the round, and I was steamin rolling back up after the 12 holes we did get to play of the 2nd round) Yea...everybody needs to get out to the SHAG!

Why no VO, WVO or Pohick in ODDS?
pohick has been out for a few years- there was a question of whether the event would occur one year so it left at that point.
the 2 supertours are out for a couple of reasons- they don't really get any benefit from being odds events (they will fill either way), they tend to skew the points because the fields are so large, we needed fewer events, etc, etc.

Schweb shot a 45 the first round to lead. Todd Hunter and JG shot 49 I think. Winds are 20-30mph with gusts over 40. They were playing short to short(on most). Longs this afternoon should be interesting. There weren't many rounds in the 60s yesterday.

Kristen Weidle shot 50 as did several males.

Mar 04 2007, 06:34 PM
Bobby N. had a 4 stroke lead with a 50 and fell into a tie after shooting 72 in the second round. Kyle B. tied him shooting a 65from the red's after a first round 57. My point is, the red tee round is what makes/breaks your tournament at Loriella. Espically with 25-40 mph winds like yesterday.

Don't know, ask Dr. Evil  ... It's my understanding that when the tournament is declared "over"...cash/prizes handed out, wrapped up and gone from the event, that the scores, as reported, cannot be changed. I had this happen in a slightly different scenario at my PDGA tourney last summer (it was to determine 1st place in a division after a scoring error was noted the day after), but the event was over, scores could not be changed from what was reported.

Thanks to everyone who made us feel welcome in Virginia this weekend. Me and TBut both had a great time. Your courses are enjoyable and challenging, I plan to make the VA open next year. The atmosphere down there is great, it was so relaxed. Special thanks to Erik Smith for showing us around, John Biscoe for helping to run a great tourney, Mike Trepasso for letting us play 3 sweet courses, Brian Law for letting us reg early, and everyone who helped with the tournament. I can't believe how efficient the tourney was run. I'm pretty sure that within a half hour of our scores being turned in, the awards were being handed out. It was fun playing with you all, Logan, Steve M, Tommy D, Pat, and Bobby.

Sherando Spring Breakout...March 25th...B-Tier...ODDS
Registration: Flyers are at www.spotsydiscgolf.com (http://www.spotsydiscgolf.com), please print and send yours in soon !!!
A current list of registered players will be available at the PDGA site, "Event Information", starting March 7th.
Since, tournaments now over-flow with entrants, there is no call, or email, registration. Those who send their registration forms in, are first "IN".
I can not promise that there will be spots left the day of the tournament. So, please, send registration...there are currently around 15-20 people signed up, and the field will be 100, on 20 holes.
Hope to fill the Breakout this year, and put on a great tournament!...And have it become a "must-go-to" event in the ODDS series.
Any questions on how to get to www.spotsydiscgolf.com (http://www.spotsydiscgolf.com) , and how to print out the flyer, call me at 7034014616

REMINDER....there is NO email or call list of saved spots for the Sherando tournament. I think it is only fair, in the year of the "PRE-REG", that those who send in registration are "IN" first.
I am trying to avoid the chance that someone drives from 3 hours away, stands in line, and I would have to tell them they are behind people who called, or emailed me. When the people who called, or emailed, may not even be there yet.
Bottomline...1st "IN"...those who have sent registration...NEXT "IN" (if not filled) are the order people are in line the day of the tournament.
Do not want to beat this into the ground, but also do not want any disappointed players tourny' time.

Mar 20 2007, 01:22 PM
most people do not make it out on friday...come saturday and sunday for golf AND distance/mta/accurracy....almost everyone tries these....they are fun.
most people don't participate in the freestyle either...
you can do as little or as many events as you want..
it's all included in the entry fee...
i have to check, but i think the entry fee is only $30

Mar 20 2007, 02:31 PM
yes, basic format for field events...
mta--you get 5 throws...they take your best time.
distance--you get 5 throws..they take your best distance for 1 throw.
accurracy---7 stations, 4 throws each...they take the total number you make out of the 28 total shots.
for each event, if you do well enough you make it into the semis where the slate is wiped clean and you compete again against everyone who made it.
the semis cut is the top 30 (15 from each pool)..the finals cut is the top 5 of those top 30.

if you are going to be at pratt that day why not just play in the tournament? or maybe i'm just not understanding the question...

Okay
April 4th
I cannot predict the payout in advance. $1 from each open entry each week goes to the final payout. I pay 1/3 of the total number of different players each year.
I pay for the trophies out of my pocket. If anything, you may get $50 and no trophy.

We've got preregistrations from NJ, MD, CO and VA, but none from NC. C'mon you gods of disc golf. Come up here for some easy pickins'. You know how bad VA golfers suck. We're practically giving money away up here.
