Following a rain-soaked start to the 2021 Dynamic Discs Open, day two saw plenty of sunshine and hot scores as players got their second crack at the attackable Jones Gold course.
Ricky Wysocki led the charge, catapulting up the leaderboard and setting a new course record in the process.

EMPORIA, Kansas – Just over 10 hours after her day started, Catrina Allen had to reign it back in.
Not a problem.
Allen kept pace throughout a long day of disc golf at the Dynamic Discs Open on Thursday to take a three-stroke lead at the midway point of the second PDGA National Tour stop of the year.

EMPORIA, Kansas — Catrina Allen knew it was coming and in turn, was ready for whatever the elements or the course threw her way.
It worked out well.
Allen finished off a postponed opening round of the National Tour - Dynamic Discs Open on Thursday morning with a 5-under 65 to build a three-stroke lead heading into the second round of action, which kicks off Thursday afternoon back at the Jones Gold track.

The late Dr. Stancil Johnson, PDGA#009, was fond of quoting Michael Murphy’s 1972 classic, Golf in the Kingdom, which casts the sport as a contest between the golfer and the golf course; an effort to master one’s surroundings.
Another round of weather in the afternoon then led to a late finish in Emporia.
Twenty four players had the finishes of their opening rounds delayed until Thursday morning due to darkness, including six of the top eight scores, after a lightning delay derailed the MPO round and another late-afternoon storm forced a second 30-minute halt for the division.

It came together quick and marked a significant milestone in a historic and challenging year for disc golf in 2020.
After a two-month shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Emporia, Kansas welcomed professional disc golf back to action in June 2020 with the Dynamic Discs Open — a re-start to the professional season in a year that featured unprecedented growth and coverage for the sport.
Just under a year later, the 2021 edition of the DDO returns as the second stop on the 2021 PDGA National Tour.
