Reign or Shine

On a wet and cold Sunday morning, the women at the United States Womens Disc Golf Championships ventured out into the mist for the final round of the tournament and for some, the last round of the season.  The arduous journey that is the National Tour can be tough on the body and mind, but its events like these that get marked on the calendar year after year, even though it is late in the season.  There is a different feeling about this event.

As day two began at the 2013 United States Womens Disc Golf Championships, the autumn showers that are typical in the Northwest finally began, and umbrellas littered the courses in Portland, OR.  The pools switched courses for today, as the Professional divisions played two rounds across the rolling hills and under the towering firs of Pier Park, and the Lady Amateurs went off in tee times, and were challenged by the length of the track at Blue Lake Regional Park for their only round of the day.

Day one of the United States Womens Disc Golf Championships started out today in grand fashion.  Portland, Oregon is home to several incredible courses, so the task of narrowing them down to the two courses being used in the event was an extremely difficult task for tournament director Rebecca Duffy.  The amateur field was set to tackle the short, technical, and majestic track at Pier Park, while the Pro divisions would test their merit at the lengthy Blue Lake Regional Park. 

Women Pour into Denver for RMWDGC

Playing in very damp and rainy conditions, 115 women disc golfers from 14 different states showed up in rain-soaked Denver for the 3rd Annual Rocky Mountain Women’s Disc Golf Championships on September 14 and 15.  The tournament was played at both the Colorado Heights University Disc Golf Course and a special temp course at Ruby Hill Park.  The ladies were able to throw their discs into 18 powder-coated in pink DGA Mach-III baskets on the temp course at Ruby Hill.  The Open Women’s division had 13 ladies competing for the champion trophy.
