Since 2012, the PDGA’s Women’s Global Event (WGE) has enabled women and girls from all over the world to participate in one unifying event. The global leaderboard offers the opportunity for each woman and girl to compete in the division of their choice with competitors around the globe. Don't have someone in your division at your local event? No problem! The global leaderboard lets you compete against someone in New Zealand, Poland, Canada, etc.!
What is your favorite or most unique item you've received in a player's pack?
Some of the more unique answers included a custom charcuterie board, a towel with a painting on it of a local course, and a disc the players got to stamp themselves.
The title sponsor of the 2026 Women's Global Event (WGE) will provide funding that will allow the PDGA to provide a unifying players pack piece to all of the players around the world. In return, the title sponsor will be recognized for their generous support to the 2026 WGE in a variety of ways.
About the WGE
Inaugurated in 2012, this biennial event continues to break records as the largest PDGA event for a single demographic within the sport of disc golf. The idea is that no woman is playing alone (even if she is the only woman playing at her local tournament) as women all over the world are playing with her that day.
Planning a women’s disc golf event often comes with big dreams and tight budgets—and that’s exactly why creative fundraising matters. Whether you're aiming to elevate the player experience, cover player fees, have extra bathrooms, or simply cover rising event costs, the right fundraising ideas can transform what’s possible.
Over the years, tournament directors around the world have tested countless approaches, from classic raffles to community-driven partnerships, each one helping grow the sport in meaningful ways.

This October, the PDGA made the pledge to donate $2 to Throw Pink for each competitor playing in a gender-based division at a C-tier and above tournament (worldwide). This included each time each competitor played. In October, there were 3,255 instances of this happening which means a $6,510 donation to Throw Pink.

In 2005, Vanessa Chambers came back to disc golf after a 15-year retirement. In March of that same year, the two-time PDGA World Champion and inaugural World Disc Golf Hall of Fame alumna went on PDGA Radio to talk about revitalizing the PDGA Women's Committee. Chambers was hoping the PDGA Women's Committee would be able to encourage the PDGA to support women competitively.
Let me introduce myself: my name is Sofia, 32 years old, pdga #223259, from Mexico, used to be a dancer, I work in finance, play disc golf… that might be my usual speech, give or take a couple of details, but I would never think to say cancer survivor and a year and a half ago that is what I became. As you may know, October is breast cancer awareness month and I’d like to share my story. For me hearing other people’s journey with cancer was a big part of my healing process, hopefully someone else can find some comfort, shared experiences or strength through mine.
In 2013, the PDGA started an initiative to increase women’s participation in disc golf events while also raising money for an incredibly important cause, the fight against cancer. Most years during the month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month), the PDGA would donate $2 for every female that competes in a PDGA-sanctioned event to charity. This initiative took a hiatus from 2017 to 2024, when we brought it back.

Ever have an idea that keeps gnawing at you? That's what happened to Tracy Heyd. She and her boyfriend were playing disc golf and talking about how they need to practice putting, which led to tossing around the idea of starting a putting league.
He likely long forgot, but she kept thinking about it.
The 2026 Women's Global Event will be May 15 - 25, 2026. The 2026 WGE will span the entire 2 weeks starting on Friday the 15th and ending on Monday the 25th (U.S. observed Memorial Day) for added flexibility.
Just as in years past, participants will be able to play in multiple events to try to obtain their best placement.
To participate in the WGE as a tournament director, simply have your event within the May 15 - 25 date range and include "WGE" in the title of the event, showing your intention to follow the required criteria for a WGE event. To participate as a player, simply sign up for an event!
Stay tuned for more details as they are announced.
Alessandra (Ali) Lance started the Boulder Ladies Disc Golf Club (BLDGC) in 2017, to provide a space for women to play together and create a community in what has historically been a very male-dominated sport.
We celebrated PDGA Women’s Disc Golf Week for the first time in 2023. WDGW was set up to function as a bridge between Women’s Global Event years and a way to encourage organizers to keep their WGE events going during the off years. Women’s Disc Golf Week is designed to, like WGE, celebrate women and girls in disc golf and to encourage as many women and girls to participate in the sport as we can.

Two different communities have been rallying support for women in their local area – specifically for them to play at the 2025 United States Women's Disc Golf Championship in June in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

From 2013-2017, the PDGA ran an annual fundraiser for a breast cancer related cause, which served as both a way to get more women to play in events but also as a way to give back.

Since 2012, the PDGA’s Women’s Global Event (WGE) has enabled women from all over the world to participate in one unifying event. The WGE gives women and girls the chance to compete with their peers, ones that share the same love of the game, no matter the distance between them. It reminds us that even if we are playing in a division by ourselves or are the only woman in the tournament, we are not alone.
A highlight of the United States Women's Disc Golf Championships players' meeting is the recognition of the new winner of the PDGA's Becky Zallek Award – a recognition of a peer-nominated individual who has advanced the game of disc golf among women due to exceptional organization and execution of disc golf events. Madison Tomaino #60798, was nominated by women who described her as having all of the attributes of a women-friendly tournament director. Some of the specifics include:
