Fighting Breast Cancer One Tournament at a Time
The PDGA will donate $2 for every woman participant in October

In 2013, the PDGA started an initiative to increase women’s participation in disc golf events while also raising money for an incredibly important cause, the fight against cancer. Most years during the month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month), the PDGA would donate $2 for every female that competes in a PDGA-sanctioned event to charity. This initiative took a hiatus from 2017 to 2024, when we brought it back.
For 2025 the money raised will be donated to Throw Pink. Throw Pink is a non-profit organization that encourages women and girls to get out and be physically active through disc golf. Throw Pink was established to raise money for women's health-related charities through fun disc golf initiatives. The program has raised over $200,000 for women's cancer initiatives, specifically breast cancer.
Throughout October, each competitor playing in a gender-based division at a C-tier and above tournament (worldwide) will help raise $2. At the conclusion of October, the PDGA will donate that $2 to Throw Pink. This will include each time each competitor plays. Plan on playing 4 tournaments in October? Great! As long as you are playing in a gender-based division, that will be $8 you'll be helping raise for Throw Pink.
In addition to the fundraising, to help with awareness, we'd love to share some stories from people who have been affected by breast cancer and would like to have a platform to offer hope, encourage folks to do their annual mammograms, etc. Please reach out if you have a story you'd like to share.

Previous Donations
From 2013 through 2015 the PDGA selected the Young Survival Coalition (YSC) for the October initiative charity. The YSC is the premier global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women diagnosed with breast cancer. YSC offers resources, connections, and outreach, so these women feel supported, empowered and hopeful.
- In 2013, there were 625 female participants in PDGA sanctioned events during the month of October that raised a total of $1250 from the PDGA. Prodigy stepped up and matched this donation through the sale of special edition pink discs, bringing the total donated to $2500.

Running Your Own Fundraiser
Do you have a charity that you want to raise money for by hosting a disc golf tournament? You can multiply your impact this October as we raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness or you can raise money year-round with the Competition Endowment Program.
During the 2024 Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser, there were 17 CEP events that had women participants in October (26 total when you include events without any women).
The PDGA Competition Endowment Program (CEP) was created to provide a means for Tournament Directors to hold events with the purpose of raising funds for a 501(c)3 or other charity. CEP events can be categorized as charity, scholastic, or developmental.
When hosting a charity CEP event, the $3 player fee is donated to the chosen charity. The event will also provide $3 to match that player fee donation. In addition, at least 25% of the remaining net entry fees must also be donated to the event charity. The TD treats the per-player donation amount as a pass-through fee. An added benefit for participants and TDs alike is that the $10 temporary membership fee is either waived or at the TD's discretion, may still be charged and also included in the donation to the event charity.
