All the scores have just been sent to Gary to prepare to post. Now we just have to work out how to post tables on the new board. Please be patient.

I forgot to mention the awesome finish by Donald Ellsworth last night. Last hole in the lead group Donald steps up and hits a 2 skip ACE on hole 18 to finish 1st in the bonus money. The gallery went wild. Barry must have having flash backs.

More soon.

The best thing I will take from this weekend was getting the plessure to see not 1 but 2 people blowing chow at headquarters....The most amazing thing about it is, that it wasn't drunken disc golfers.

You have seen the "Wingman" coors light commericals aye? Buy the "other" girl a beer while your buddy is playing tonsil hockey with the brunken bar-maid?
Well what do you call the girl the holds the other girls hair while Spewing Chew, ensuring that no chunks get in the puker girls hair? I call it the HOOTERS GIRL not liking the taste of my special sauce. Now that would be a good commercial

Sorry for getting off the subject. GREAT EVENT I'll be at many more next year.

When Rodney (Hi Erin) does them does it make a difference that the holes changed from the last event there? The Am's played long wiht no OB while the Pro's played no and all OB. Also Holes 5 and 9 at the Lake are now long. Or is it just a comparisom between the players at that event?

I used only Open Pro from
this event. Therefore, no other events matter.

The SSAs are only (semi-)valid for any divisions that played the same layout as Open Pro in this event.

My stats aren't quite up to date, but these are probably reasonable approximations:

Round 1 = 47.4
Round 2 = 46.5

I am still in Lewisville. The plan is to head south early Thursday. So if anyone is trying to get hold of me please be patient.

Gary and I have been numbers crunching the approx $20,000 player bonus. We are hoping that ALL Amateurs that play 4 events get at least something in the payout. Just something to think about.

I will look at the video soon and see if it's good enough to put on to a DVD.

My next job is to put together a photo essay for sponsors to say thank you for this year then for new ones next year. I met with Budweiser for an hour yesterday and shared a few new ideas.

For the last month I have said I will always be able to sleep in December. Right now I hope that is true. Still lots to do.

Thanks for the good words about the tour. Yes next year will be huge. The estimated $20,000 bonus along with a few other things I have planned could make for a fun year.

The 2003 ZiegenBock Texas 10 Charity Tour finished out the season last week in beautiful sunshine and clear skies. What a year we have had. Its been a long, yet rewarding year for everyone concerned. Next year I promise to raise the bar even more, and continue to bring disc golf to the minds of businesses all across Texas. Most of you already know a few of the things in store for next year. Heres one to think about for a few minutes$10,000 added to the Players Tour Bonus.

Our wonderful relationship with the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) will continue in 2004. Please support Texas 10 and help us in our goal of donating over $25,000 next year alone. More news on the LAF, and how we plan on gaining national exposure very soon.

In a tour such as this, many people, cities, and businesses are involved. There are way too many names to thank, but I would like to name a few that have always believed in my dream of bringing Texas 10 to corporate America and building a solid foundation to increase exposure for our sport. To all the wonderful people I have not named, thank you.

Mr. Don Fischer General Manager of the local Anheuser-Busch distributor. You believed in us and helped us proceed in the right direction. Thank you for your efforts in securing national sponsorship support from Anheuser-Busch. That support will always be appreciated.

The City of Lewisville have provided wonderful support and encouragement for our tour. Not only are the courses always maintained, mowed and cleaned, but also the belief they have in how disc golf in Lewisville helps the community. I look forward to many more years of bigger and bigger events in Lewisville.

USAutomatic and Tom McCutcheon as I have said many times before, Tom has and continues to be my mentor, business partner, and my friend. Your experience and guidance has been invaluable from the very start, thank you.

Innova-Champion Discs thank you for continuing to supply the best discs on the market.

My staff and volunteers through out the year have been awesome. Thank you to everyone that has lent a hand, large or small. Not only do I appreciate you, but also disc golfers all across Texas appreciate you.

I am very proud to announce again that next year we will be called

Ziegen Light Texas 10 Charity Tour

A new beer for a new year, stop in at your local beer store and try the new Ziegen Light before our tour starts next year. Both Ziegen Light and ZiegenBock will be available at each of our ten events next year.

Here is my other announcement I made over the weekend

$10,000 will be added to the Players Tour Bonus in 2004

Thats right, $10,000 will be added. This money is on top of all other player bonuses, sponsorships, entry money, raffles etc. In 2004 I hope that you the players will share in over $20,000 just in the tour bonus alone. Before the first entry is taken next year we start off with $10,000.

Congratulations to Nolan Grider in his efforts to make history this year. He fell a little short in the end and did not win the $10,000 Pro Bonus but gave it a great run. You will have plenty more chances in the years to come Nolan, I promise you.

The USAutomatic $10,000 Hole in One was given a shake but it did not fall. A couple of people hit the basket and several buzzed the chains but nothing fell. There is always next year. Someone soon will win at least a $10,000 hole in one at a Texas 10.

During the finals weekend in Lewisville we had Richard McMakin who is a professional photographer walking the courses. Please check out the following link to see hundreds of great photos from the weekend. You can purchase any of these direct from Richard on his website. www.mcmakinphoto.com (http://www.mcmakinphoto.com)

You may even see photos of Donald Ellsworths double skip ace on the final hole on Sunday. In the lead group joined by World and US Champ Barry Shultz, on his last shot of the event, in front of the large gallery Donald skip one in to secure 4th in the event and 1st in the tour bonus. Great shot mate.

Thanks to Barry Shultz, Ron Russell, Kevin McCoy, Eric McCabe and all the other touring players that came to town to play. I trust you all had a great time and will be back soon.

Here are a few statistics about the final event.

250 Players
$22,703 Payout (cash and merchandise only)
143 of the 250 players were qualified for the tour bonus

There are still some collectors sets left for sale. Go to www.discgolftourist.com (http://www.discgolftourist.com) to order yours today. Only 50 of these 2 disc sets will ever be made.

Next years first event kicks off back in Lewisville on February 28th, 2004. All the information you will need will be announced very soon.

Thanks again for a great year. 2004 promises to be even bigger and better for everyone. Happy Holidays and I look forward to seeing you all on the course again very soon.

Yours in Flight,

Chris Himing Tournament Director

It's that time of year to have some fun and win some prizes.

I am very close to completing the 2004 schedule. Who would like to guess where the 2004 locations will be?

The 1st person to correctly guess the 10 event locations for 2004 will win an Innova Tour Bag worth $65.

I will do not expect the dates to be complete for the next few weeks but the locations should be. To the handful of people and friends that have been let into the secret locations sorry please don't post. I will buy you all a beer next time I see you.

Chris,

Are there 10 distinct locations or is one or more of them used more than once? If one is used more than once, I would think that we would have to list only 9 locations.

Instead of a beer I will buy you a diet coke to keep quiet.

Dec 08 2003, 04:05 PM
I havent seen the 2K4 requirements, but does it REQUIRE 36 distinct holes, like last year was SUPPOSED to? (no jabs at the ones who didnt)

ozdisc
Dec 08 2003, 04:09 PM
Yes and No. The preference is for 36 holes. If not we will work something out.

In 2004 I will try to have each event play 36 holes. Just remember I can put up portable baskets anywhere. Anything is possible if I need it to happen.

I have to run out for a while but here's a little more info.

1st and 10th event in Lewisville. The final will be 2 days, the same as this year. Am's Saturday and the Pro's Sunday.

Don't worry about whether a course has 9, 18, or 27 holes, I can make things happen and will.

Here's the original post again.

LOL.....good guesses Edman.....

I have a feeling, its going to be a rather strange list, that Chris is confident nobody will figure out, to offer such a sweet prize...

I heard some rumors/stories earlier in the year, and have talked to people around the state over the last several weeks, but think 2-3 of my guesses are pretty far fetched.

I will offer up a wild guess at some point, after some more people make guesses, to potentially narrow down my possibilities.

As for Austin, Cong is very correct. Not the most supportive city in the world. The good news is there is plenty of good cities willing to support disc golf.

Hey Chris,

Which cities dropped out for next year?

spartan
Dec 09 2003, 12:58 PM
The pain of living in a Disc Golf Mecca with only two tournies a year. Not including the Ice Bowl and Worlds Biggest by Gordo. COTO, Waterloo, Ice Bowl and World's Biggest are the only events that I can think of. I know that Marka was going to have a two-day tourney out at Bart but not sure how he lined that one up.

Just plain sad. :mad:Someone else can respond as to why Austin is such a stinker.

Dec 09 2003, 01:17 PM
martin's right, we did originally schedule the Cold Turkey Classic at bartholomew park in austin. i was very excited by the prospect of an austin event, that is until i actually had to speak to the folks with the parks department. don't get me wrong, the folks i spoke to were real nice and sympathetic, but they have bosses. there were construction issues with the park that were supposed to begin prior to our event, that still haven't begun. there were park usage fees that couldn't be gotten around. there are insurance issues. most of all, there seems to be an attitude that the city of austin just really doesn't care if there are tourneys here or not. their courses are among the most played casual courses in the country, so beyond that they really don't seem to care about competition on them.

another big problem, at least in my mind, is that as chris mentioned, there are so many other cities out there who welcome us with open arms that we'd rather take tourneys to, that austin proper becomes kind of irrelevant.

this is all just the opinion of this author and in no way is meant to reflect anyone else's take on the austin situation. :)

spartan
Dec 09 2003, 02:03 PM
agreed. I would rather play casual here than worry about fees and so forth that the Parks Dept rapes us little guys on. There are plenty of minis to keep me busy all week long. :)

and Marka is right by saying that there are plenty of other cities that welcome us with open arms but might not have the night life that Austin offers. Or great courses. I do remember having a great time at the KoKo Inn's bar in Lubbock. Natty Light goes down so much easier when it is served from in a mason jar. :DFEAR THE DRIVE!

One of the courses usually plays at 18 to 21 holes. We will make it an awesome 36. Another location that is normally 36 will share an event. One location is further north and one further south. One is old, one is new.

Have fun with those.

That was funny :D

Dec 15 2003, 01:23 PM
I have to argue the sanctioning portion of that argument.

First, these are not sanctioned, and therefore do not have to follow any PDGA scheduling problems. Chris does work with the SC to secure dates that do not interfere with sanctioned events. He does not have to and any TD that wishes to do so can schedule an event on the same weekend as a ZT10(I guess it is ZLT10 now) except for the final.

Second, the ZLT10 draws in a lot of non-tournament players because it is non-sanctioned. Many of the new TX golfers that are starting to tour got into competitive golf through the ZLT10.

From an attendance point of view, if all of the ZLT10s were sanctioned the attendance of current touring PDGA golfers at ZLT10 events would increase, but the number of non-PDGA golfers would decrease. As it is now, the number of non-PDGA players that start in ZLT10 events that later go on to become PDGA members and start playing other events is increasing.

Personally, I would prefer that all of the ZLT10 events be sanctioned, but I think the current situation is better for the growth of DG in Texas.

Of course, I could be wrong.

This is just what I have noticed from watching the number of participants that start the year without PDGA numbers and end the year with PDGA numbers and how many of those PDGA numbers start showing up in other events.

On Saturday March 20 I will do a 2 round Texas 10 event. On Sunday Mark Atwood will do a HCF Tour Event. Now you have no excuses not to go. Wichita Falls is only 90 minutes north of DFW.

We expect a good crowd from Oklahoma as well as Texas.

Chris babe,

It's about 147 miles from DFW Intl Airport to WF. If you get there in 90 minutes, here's the math:

(147 miles/90 minutes) X (60 minutes/hour) = about 98 MPH or 158 KPH.

This is not posted to discourage a caravan from D/FW, but if I see the "Thunduh from down Unduh" in my rear view mirror, I'm gettin' outa the way!!
