Oooo fresh meat! Just kidding. I am glad there are more and more women playing. Not a better place to play your first tournie than a Texas 10. Ladies love Chris. :D
You know, Ayer's rock is one of only two places in the world where that particular type of rock is jutting up out of the ground like that. Can you tell me the other place?
(Hint) You don't have to look far.
Alright, I'll end this storm of curiosity about my trivia quiz:
The answer is Enchanted Rock located in the Texas hill country between Llano and Fredricksburg.

Hahahahaha! Actually he will be playing Advanced in all PDGA events until AFTER college. He is only 16, so get used to him kicking y'alls Asses!
The reason behind him playing all PDGA events as an AM is because he doesn't want to loose his college scholarship chances by taking "professional" cash. Smart kid, huh?
I finally got to meet the kid. He is a pleasure to golf with. So mature for 16. The OPEN leader card after the first round was Coda Hatfield(-11), Kelly Allen(-10), John Maiuro(-8), Mike Brown(-8), and Nolan Grider(-8)
The final results in OPEN were as follows. Coda(-22), Kelly(-17), Nolan(-16), Mike(-15), and Maiuro(-13), Dixon(-13), Jay(-13), Robinson(-13)

Ah, great day to play disc golf. It was fun for my wife and I getting to see EVERY woman that she use to play with back in the day. (you know when that kid from Okie was still in diapers)
I played the 1st round with Coda and he was a very nice 17 year old kid. What an arm. He was putting very good today. I only saw him miss one put that first round.
As for me, it was GREAT to get out and play my first tournament in 7 months. (and 2nd and 3rd rounds too) I fell apart at the end and finished 3 strokes out of the cash, but I did tie for 11th (out of 25) and played better than I expected.
BTW, Chris was mean and got the rope out for a big turnover shot. There was OB right and left and behind that basket. I turned my roler over too early and rolled OB, then overshot my upshot OB past the basket. Donut 5 on that hole. My only badly played hole that first round.
I had a blast and look forward to playing in May!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, thanks Justin Kerr for running the other course for Chris today. I know it was hard to watch us all play your home courses, but it will not be too long before you can play again.

Chris and staff, another great event. 168 players...WOW!!!
Trivia tidbit: It is possible to drive 6 hours north from Houston and not leave Texas. I love this state.
There are great moments that happen on the course (hitting an ace and witnessing one on the same day)....and then there are those that some would like to forgot. Mark, you might want to skip down a couple of paragraphs. :D
Here my card comes to #3 tee which provides a lovely view of #6's basket, when we notice The Right Honorable Sensei Atwood approaching to #6, leaving a 20 footer for par. Stephen Brower, HCF sponsored player*, makes note of the MASoB&FP, and well, let's just say it took Mark awhile to finish the hole (4-putt). Meanwhile, we're trying not to draw a courtesy violation for excessive and obtrusive laughter...
But later, on #11 Stephen puts himself in possible birdie position with a great drive and mentions the MASoB&FP again. Bad idea, as he proceeds to finish the hole in true Atwood style. This thing is real, folks. Beware of MASoB&FP applications arriving on your doorstep....
Mark did redeem himself at Jaycee Park nailing a couple of long ones, back to back.
And Mr. Cox, I believe the deficit is now 13. I also notice how you left me out of the $5 side with Murphy and Krell. Picking on the Intermediates still? Oh wait, Mr. Berry cleaned up that one.
*This post is not a paid endorsement of Hill Country Flyers. Mr. Atwood provides enough entertainment free of charge.

Sounds like another GREAT Kangaroo event!!!
Chris, we in TEXAS are DEFINATELY proud you have chosen TEXAS as your new Home. Keep up the great work!!!
Sorry I've missed 2 already this year, Hope to make Gonzo!!!
Wow, what a great time on Saturday. Who would've expected that turnout for Witchita Falls? It was a blast to see alot of my OMB friends and get to play with some new ones for the first time. Awesome OMB field too. 21 Players. Suhweet!
I wasted my opportunities to place well right off the bat at Lucy in the morning with a stinking +2 on a course where I should never shoot worse than a -2. Yes, it was mostly due to the hole (#6) that Young Master Bender spoke of.
I fear the MASofB&FP! I step up to my upshot, which really wasn't all that bad when you consider where my crappy drive and lie were, and go to line up about a 20' putt. I glanced over my right shoulder because I got a really creppy feeling that I was being watched. I see Mr. Bender and his cardmates standing on the ridge to the right of #3's tee...watching...waiting...anticipating. I turned back around to look at my putt and the only thing that was going through my mind was the damned MASofB&FP! I couldn't shake it. I was so twisted up that I was hardly surprised when I sailed my putt past the basket. No sweat. I had been sitting at -1 and was playing pretty well, so my confidence wasn't damaged. In fact, I remember almost chuckling to myself as I stepped up to shoot my comebacker. I knew I would hit it. Now, by that time, anyone on Tony's card who wasn't paying attention, or my card for that matter, had their eyes fixed on me as they began to smell blood. No problem, I'll show 'em. My heart stopped beating for a few seconds as I watched my comebacker sail wide of anything resembling metal. Well, time to stop the bleeding, I told myself. At least there's no way I'll miss this one from about 12' and I can get the heck outta here and move on. Doink! I didn't make a putt outside of 5' the rest of the round. I was so shaken up, I didn't even want to go to the longer course in the afternoon.
Fortunately, I saw Mr. Bender at the start of the second round at Jaycee, and instructed him not to speak to me, look at me or even think about me. With that little detail out of the way, I went out and shot the second best round of my whole division.
All in all, it was a great day and much fun was had.
I hear there was a tournament on those same courses on Sunday, but I really don't have any details on that.

Adam,
Your current avatar reminds me of the old "Far Side" cartoon where a driver is looking at his side view mirror, which at the bottom says, "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear", and all he could see in the side mirror was a giant eyeball :D
Susan, I really enjoyed the evening with you and David and Justin and Laura. I don't think I knew it was your anniversary. Congrats! I eat at Samurai every time I'm in Witchita Falls now and sadly, I usually find the right amount of saki that qualifies as too much. :)
The school colors for the MASofB&FP are fairly obvious. Black and Blue, for the bruising, with just a hint of dark red, for the bleeding.
Too bad you didn't have them made, along with extras, this past weekend. I had a half dozen players actually request applications to attend. Evidently, there's quite an untapped B&FP demographic out there in the disc golf hinterlands.
gnduke
Mar 23 2004, 01:22 PM
I think there are a great many players that attended for at least a semester or two. Some went on to complete their education at more prestigious locations, but most transcripts probably show some credit hours from B&FP.

Just wanted to say that I had a blast this weekend. So good to see so many familiar faces.
Jones's, congrats on your 9th. I pray many more for you! It was a pleasure to see part of my much missed East Texas family. Man I miss being there!
Ryan, What a pleasure and experience to lose that basket to you. I keep replaying that in my head and now have several bruises from where I keep kicking myself. Ha Ha! Still, the MRV is going on the wall and the mental image of that disc hitting the chains and sticking is priceless. I now realize what I've been missing all this time.
Chris, as always thank you for a great event and for the plug about the Allen event on May 31. Everyone that can be a part of it please support our growth. $15 bucks for the demo and $6 for the mini. It will be a great event!!
See you all in Wimberly!!

I almost forgot...thanks to Innova for the Discatcher portable basket we gave away on Saturday.
Players could ace run the basket for $1 a throw. All the money goes to the Lance Armstrong. If the basket is not aced by the time I am ready for the presentations the basket goes to the final raffle in November.
Within 5 minutes of starting Saturday Shaine makes the crowd go wild with an ace. Then just minutes later Ryan Cooner hits it again. After everyone else had had there chance to throw we did a 3 throw ctp throwoff between Shaine and Ryan. Ryan took the basket.
Lots more Innova baskets to give away this year :)

Shaine, it was a good experience, to say the least. I enjoyed getting to meet you, and look forward to playing some rounds on the same card in the near future - as long as it's the top card
That sure was crazy the way the basket worked out, huh? I gotta tell you, I almost didn't throw after you hit it so quick. :p Glad I didn't stick to that decision! It sure was fun, though, having the throwoff afterwards... I think I was more nervous on those three shots than I was during the tourney.
I, too, would like to thank Innova and Chris Himing for the basket! A great prize from a great group of people!

Gday Disc Golfers.
It may have been a while since you last heard from me but a lot has been happening both in Texas 10 circles and other events. From hosting over 160 players near the Oklahoma border in the Texas 10 Wichita Falls, to christening the new course south in Gonzales, to hosting a small event on the coast, we have been all over.
Here are the next few upcoming Ziegen Light Texas 10 events you can and should enter now.
May 1st Live Oak
May 22nd Wimberley
June 19th Arlington
Simple go to www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) to enter or call me direct with your credit card details. It pays to enter early. Its also a good way not to get a 4am wake up call.
Speaking of entering earlyits now time to enter to have your chance at the
WORLDS RICHEST Disc Golf Hole in One - $25,000 sponsored by USAutomatic.
Entries can now be taken for the final tour events on November 13 and 14 in Lewisville. This years final promises to be even bigger and better than ever before. Enter now and guarantee your place in disc golf history when hopefully someone will walk away with the $25,000 Hole in One prize. Not to mention the huge tour bonus money that everyone who plays in four or more of the first nine events can share in.
I am sure this has not been the first time and surely will not be the last time so here goesanyone can play the final event in November. You do not have to play in any other Texas 10 events. That means its even more important to enter early as many players will be entering just to get the ace money.
Go to www.texas10tour.com (http://www.texas10tour.com) or www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) for more information and to enter.
Some new gallery photos are also posted on our website along with the new t-shirt logo. Come to Live Oak to get first choice of all the new Texas 10 and Down Under Disc Golf clothing. We have t-shirts, dri-fit polos, hats, visors, towels, tank tops, along with the best selection of ladies clothing around.
Charity Marathon Info:
Coming very soon will be your chance to host or play in the 24 Hour Disc Golf Charity Marathon. In the month of June all over the USA and Canada cities will be hosting this fun charity event. Ask your local TD to host event at your course. For a $25 entry fee you will receive all this:

Gday Disc Golfers.
It may have been a while since you last heard from me but a lot has been happening both in Texas 10 circles and other events. From hosting over 160 players near the Oklahoma border in the Texas 10 Wichita Falls, to christening the new course south in Gonzales, to hosting a small event on the coast, we have been all over.
Here are the next few upcoming Ziegen Light Texas 10 events you can and should enter now.
May 1st Live Oak
May 22nd Wimberley
June 19th Arlington
Simply go to www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) to enter or call me direct with your credit card details.
Champion Edition Teebird TL
Innova Embroidered Hat

I'm thinking more along the lines of "why" does she do that? It doesn't look comfortable, can't be easy on the back or the right knee, and forces your head and upper body forward and down... just doesn't make sense to me.
But, then again, I know Adam must have put her picture in here for reasons other than me criticizing her form. :p

Good question Martin.
I expect the alternate holes to be very similar around the pond. The hole after that will need to change due to a new parking lot. I may have a look at that tomorrow night when I am there.
The good news is that the Lake will still be there when we play. It was due to be drained for the Summer. However the power of Texas 10 has delayed that until the week after. So come and play while the Lake still has water in it.

Chris,
I know it's a little ways off, but what will be the temp course at the Veteran's stop? I know traditionally holes are added on the north side and by the pavilion/pond, but I wonder if we could use a park that is about 2-3 blocks west of the course. It's Kelley Park, and it is nice and open/flat with plenty of random trees. I'm sure many of the Arlington-area guys have thought of this when driving by this park, and I'm not sure, but maybe it's been used before. It just looks like the perfect change up from the traditional Veteran's layout. Since it's pretty open, I bet it would play fast, which would complement the regular course well! Anyway, just a thought I had while driving from the Vet on Saturday.
discgolfdog
Apr 19 2004, 10:03 AM
Jeterdawg, Kelly Park was used a few years back for a VPO. There was a casual park user that got hit by a disc that weekend. Since then the parks department won't even hear of any talk about using Kelly Park. It was a great course. Too bad we can never use it again.
discgolfdog
Apr 19 2004, 10:07 AM
The temp. course at Veterans will most likely be alot like Brian's DFW food drive series. A few longer holes split up into two holes. Many of the old course holes(you play most of them during the VPO). Plus a few new temp. holes through the woods.
jeterdawg
Apr 19 2004, 10:11 AM
No wonder...well that sucks! It does indeed look like a great spot to have an 18-hole. I can see how someone would get hit though, there's always old people over there. The temp holes that the VPO and Mace use will be fine as always. I figured that using the other park would help us get that much closer to another park in Arlington!
ozdisc
Apr 19 2004, 10:34 AM
In regards to the 36 holes at Veterans I have not confirmed the alternate course design. Course Am, and course designer extrodinare Jason Chamberlain will be doing wonders to make a fun new course. From what I do know is that is may be different to what Brian Mace used but I will waht to hear from Jason on that.
Derek you should come down to Live Oak. Both courses in the same park is awesome and with more to come.
Then we go to Wimberley...now there's 2 great courses together.
Lots more news soon. Keep those entries coming and don't forget to check out the updates on the website.
Thanks

OK Chris, put down the Ziggy Light and back away slowly :o. The layout that we used at the Big Show will be somewhat similar to the TX10 layout. I don't want to cut hole #1 up again so I'm trying to find 1 more hole to sneak in on the front nine that will actually flow. Also (after Ginetta pointed it out today) the wild flower area to the left of 13's tee may cause a few changes to the "north course". I'll get you updated on what I come up with and will have the holes and pads marked the Friday before if you want to play them(no they will not be set up unless someone wants to drag out 18 temp baskets for me ). I really wish we could use Kelley Park, but it's just a case of 1 bad thing happening that ruins an opportunity for a long time. See everyone in Live Oak!!!!

There are many young Int. players that are wanna-be Adv. Masters with the pull-carts. This is the ultimate in lazy! But even more ridiculous than that is the baby stroller in place of the pull cart. At least use a dolly and don't look so much like a grandma taking little Betsy out for a walk. If you somehow rigged a pull-cart or dolly to where you had 1) a somewhat comfortable seat, 2) an ice chest with a minimum of 8 COLD beers, 3) a radio with anything but rap playing, 4) somewhere to put your DG bag, and 5) a place to put your cane, then I would have a little more respect. I know someone out there has a Deion Sanders golf cart equivalent of a disc golf pull-cart; I'm just waiting to see it.

The plan is to get all of the results online if I can get my hands on all of the results. I don't know if the early results are still availble.
Once everything is in, you will be able to see how a player performed and in which divisions for all of the TX10s.

Dear Mr. Bender,
As the non-member member of Team Evolution I feel you need to learn the basic rules of being a member of this great team.
RULE #1- You can NEVER EVER publicly disrespect our fearless leader about his disc golf game and specificaly his putting.
RULE #2- You can ALWAYS be replaced.
Nelle, Nelle, Nelle.....
A leopard may change his spots, an old dog may learn new tricks, but Mark will never outlive the incident now referred to as the "Lucy Park Putting" incident. Possibly the greatest moment ever involving a self-fulfilling prophecy in disc golf...
:D

In his defense, the "Lucy Park Putting Incident" is in fact, one of the most amazing, disgusting and humorous incidents in my dg life.

Super Rocs
Champion Classic Rocs
Champion Glow TL's
Champion Starfires
Custom stamped Champion Mini's
All these are a combination of ZT10 and Kangaroo stamps, and look great.
The Innova DISCatcher is ready to be given away by the Hooters girls and things are looking good for the weekend.
Keep those entries coming and make my life a little easier on Saturday. Regardless of field size come 8am Saturday no one will be let in. Fri doubles will go from around 2pm to 5:30pm if you need to enter then.

Mark,
Do many of the holes at Live Oak (Perm and temp for this weekend) have water hazards that would make me want to bring a little crap plastic that I wouldn't mind donating to the drink? I've heard that 5 or 6 of the holes have pretty tough water that I should expect to lose one or two. Let me know what holes do and how long they are. I'm sure this would help a few other folks out as well. Thanks

Derek there are some possible water problems. 2,6,7,8,9,10 all have water obs. There are some possible other temp holes (Chris had one across the pond at one time)but I don't know how he is going to set up the temp holes.
There ya go Derek, I knew one of the locals would answer your question better than I could. BTW, hit me up when you get there, I still owe you a buck. :)
Oh, one more thing, when it comes to water hazards, never listen to Tony. He has trouble seeing them, even when they are very large and obvious.
jeterdawg
Apr 27 2004, 04:08 PM
Yeah, he must be looking at the holes from a lefty's perspective. So how long are those holes that were just mentioned. Do I need to bring a couple of old rocs, aviars, or a couple of old banshees/eagles? I can't wait for the buck BTW...you on again for that bet this weekend? Mr. Bender and I already did...
sciencet_cher
Apr 27 2004, 04:12 PM
Rocs or putters will work on most of the real problems, the rest the water may just come into play on a bad drive.

Apr 27 2004, 04:58 PM
#2 is 234 feet curve to the left along side the water which has been known to swallow a few, 6 is pretty much straight 142 across the water with an alternate tee box (6E) which is a little longer shot through the trees over the water, 7 is a straight shot through a tight opening with water on the right, 8 is a straight shot at the water behind the basket, 9 has a line of trees on the right with water to the right of them and disc have been known to go in there, and 10 is a shot across the ditch which usually has water if you don't make it across (270 feet). Ditch is about less than half way. Problem is you have a tree line at the ditch you have to go over or around.

Just take 35 North out of town and exit on Judson to the east and take it to Leafy Hollow, left on Leafy Hollow down to the park. Watch out for cops, when the speed limit says 20 mph, they mean it. As for the best way to get to 35 north, it depends on what hotel you are staying at. I live about a 1 1/2 miles north of downtown and it takes about 15 to 20 mins to get to the course on Sat mornings.
I won't be making it to Live Oak either.
