Ok, Chris I never ask you any questions because I am a good listener, and on that list you said you weren't joking around.
BARRY SHULTZ IS PLAYING?
Joke right?
No joke. He is playing the VPO the week before then ZT10 just like he did last year. I also expect a few other big name pros that want to have a shot at the $25,000 Hole in One.

Chris said he was not joking. He said Barry Shultz is playing. Barry, plus several other touring pros played last year. It was a great event. It was nice that a couple of the pros walked the course and watched the Am's play in addition to the Am's watching the Pros the next day. What a great idea!, as long as everyone stays mindful of the cards playing around the card they are watching. I can't wait.

so... time to start thinking about the final. only 1 month away :D
I'm assuming that Chris will be moving a few people up who signed up for this event when they were still rated in a lower division. In other words, get those baggers out of my division :). Twisted one, you have earned the right to stop taking plastic away from us MA2s :D. I would assume that there are a few more. Maybe we can talk Mr. Pozzy into another ratings update the day before the final

If Chris was able to somehow move a player's contributed bonus money up if the person moved up a division, I bet more people would move up. I know that's why I'm not moving up until next year...my rating won't be advanced until after the final anyway. ;)
I guess that is one thing to consider when you start taking entries months in advance!

The clubhouse is almost ready to fit out and the courses are coming along. The Park Hill course has 18 cement tee boxes being laid tomorrow. The newly redesigned Park Shire course will get 18 cement tees next week.
If I don't answer my phone or emails today now you know why.
I am all ready to hang out with Lance and Sheryl this Friday and Saturday. The bike handles well and I should be able to get it around the course Friday morning. Bring it on Lance :D

Derek there you go again... If there were not so many baggers in MA2 in the first place it wouldn't matter. Also the only thing stopping you from moving to MA1 for the final is greed. Huge added money in MA2 or big added money in MA1? Move to MA1 as you want to and play well and all the money will come. It's amazing how well some people might play if they didn't worry about winning and extra $10 in plastic.
I will try to have the added money stats online before the end of the weekend. Maybe Robin Williams can help me do it :D

here's what i sent to the website and board monitor contact emails:
Not sure why conrad is ignoring PM's , but there needs to be an apology to hawk for the scurrilous way in which his avatar was deleted without so much as the courtesy of asking him to remove it. It's not like it was even offensive, in fact it was as tame as the article in DGWN featuring playboy bunnies. Being there is no clear policy on avatars, it is patently unfair to remove them without first creating guidelines as to what is allowed and what is not. At the very least a warning or Pm asking him to remove it would have been a better way to handle this. I am a board monitor for another site and a volunteer for the PDGA also, yet this does not make me, or any of us, from making mistakes. the best way to handle a mistake is to apologize and correct the situation so that there is a clear process to follow in the future to avoid such mistakes. Avoiding the issue will NOT make it go away, and the board members will not continue to be ignored. If you like we will go as far as calling for a vote for the board monitor and IT positions, so as to have some accountablility for the actions of the people running the message board.

Since I played intermediate all year long, if I moved up to advanced for the final, I wouldn't qualify for the added money/tour bonus/whatever you call it, right? If this isn't true, let me know. What's the point in coming to so many events during the year if you aren't going to be able to play for the tour bonus that you've been putting money into during the year?

I don't feel any apology is necessary for Hawk's avatar being removed. You, personally, may not have been offended by his avatar. However, this is a public forum with numerous underage users, and as such, should be beyond reproach where such content is concerned.
Bottom line is, it shouldn't have been there in the first place.

You are still not listening or reading anything Gary or I write Derek. You can move up a division and earn bonus payout. You can not move down and get bonus payout. Don't you think that is fair.
Since nobody listens, reads or remembers anything anymore I am sure I will alter the formats for next year. I have just recieved the 2005 PDGA Proposed Tour Standards so that will shake things up a little.

Chris, this is great news; however I've never seen it posted anywhere here or on the ZT-10 site. I apologize for relying on others for a rule which I was told as "if you play in 4 or more events, you qualify for tour bonus payout for the division in which you played the majority of the time." Please post the fact that you can move up a division and still qualify for the tour bonus on your website, that's where I looked most recently for the information. Sorry for all the confusion folks!
It didn't help with the addition this year of the bonus points prize getting confused with the tour bonus payout I guess!

I have wireless access in the room so I will be able to occasionally give some fun updates of what is happening.
The first news story of the day is that I have a $100 donation coming to Lance for a picture of Robin Williams saying hi. Another $200 for a one of Sheryl Crow's.... ;)
I also just heard that Lance used his power to make dress code changes to a school mountian biking race. Apparently a large group of kids were DQ'ed for wearing LiveStrong wristbands. The rule is no jewellery. Lance made some calls and the kids were reinstated and the dress code changed. Well done Lance.
It is awesome to see everyone from all over the world walking around the hotel wearing yellow and Lance t-shirts. The LAF staff are so friendly and professional. This is gonig to be a great weekend.
Time to rest for the big ride in the morning. I am just hoping the course is not as hilly as last year.

I do think it's fair, and I'm not sure if I will be affected by this or not. I've played 5 events in intermediate and 1 in advanced (bad idea, I'm not ready yet :) ). I'm hoping that since I played at least 4 in MA2, that one MA1 disaster won't mean that I'm "moving down" to play MA2 in the final. BTW, I'm rated in MA3, but I won't be moving down that far ;)

Sorry Joe no go on the 2 photos you wanted but tomorrow is another day and another night out with everyone.
Time to crash for the night as tomorrow is another big day.
One last thing...we raised $36,000 (still have $1500 more on my desk) with 400 plus individual donors. The awards were presented to one person that had 500 donors and the top award for the night went to the top fundraiser and it was $50,000 raised. 2005 will be a big year I promise for Disc Golf and the Lance Armstrong Foundation :)

Well my 4 day weekend of fun, games, celebrity meetings etc with Lance and the Lance Armstrong Foundation is almost over for another year. It is sad to say goodbye to some people I met while here this weekend, but happy knowing the passion we all share will bring us back next year to support the cause.
As I look back on all the activities of the weekend I have so many great memories that range from inspirational, humorus, exhausting, and enlightning.
A special thanks to all the LAF staff and volunteers. I have never seen a more professional and passionate group of workers and helpers. All your enthusiasm and support made for a wonderful time.
I would lalso like to thank Jennifer for joining me for the weekend and getting a little look into the world of Lance and what the foundation does. Our conversation last night will stay with me forever and help make next year (and the years to come) a very special year, thank you.
Our last main function last night was to listen to Lance be interviewed by NBC's Anne Curry and a dozen cancer survivors. Listening to Lance and these people talk and share their stories about surviving cancer you would think be a sad thing. Yes there were sad moments but the overall feeling was of celebrating life and of surviorship. These people in front of us had faced death, and because of people like Lance and the foundation found hope to fight for their lives. These are the people that our donations help.
I will leave you all with this statistic and the knowledge that the money we as disc golfers raise for the LAF has a direct benefit to many people. If you think it will never happen to you think about this...1 of every 3 women and 1 of every 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
Thank you,
Chris

Sounds like you had a great weekend. I am proud to be a little part of this organization. My father-in-law is a survivor just as Lance is. Isn't it great to meet people who are much more unfortunate than many of us are have such a great outlook on life and the all of the possibilities that await them.
Change of subject now, I have one question about the final event.
Is there a hotel deal or did I miss that information?
Great job Chris and keep up the grerat work.
Hey Chris!
It sounds like you had a great time!
As you know I work for Hospice and deal with people everyday that are facing end-of-life. What you and all DG's who participate in this cause do for the LAF is awesome! Okay here are a few numbers to get you all excited. These numbers include sponsored money and the $3 per player from each event.
Only the people that have played in 4 or more events this year (not including the final) will share in this money.
<table border="1"><tr><td>Added to Pro: $4544</td><td>
</td></tr><tr><td>Added to Ams: $9822</td><td>
</td></tr><tr><td>Total Added: $14,344</td><td>
</td></tr><tr><td>
</td></tr><tr><td>MPO</td><td>$1,847
</td></tr><tr><td>MPM</td><td>$1,054
</td></tr><tr><td>MPG</td><td>$830
</td></tr><tr><td>FPO</td><td>$791
</td></tr><tr><td>MA1</td><td>$1,744
</td></tr><tr><td>MA2</td><td>$2,790
</td></tr><tr><td>MA3</td><td>$2,273
</td></tr><tr><td>MM1</td><td>$1,364
</td></tr><tr><td>FW1</td><td>$697
</td></tr><tr><td>FW3</td><td>$964
</td></tr><tr><td> </tr></td></table>
Please note, anyone can play the final event. You will just receive the normal event payout. If I hear again people saying you can not play if you haven't played in 4 or more I will not be happy. Anyone can play!
<font color="red">This is a normal PDGA event so anyone can enter. If you are not a PDGA member just pay the extra $5. </font>
These numbers are the percentages of the field that will be paid out in the final. The PDGA payout is for the event entry and the Bonus payout applies to all those that have played in 4 or more. So basically if you enter the event as an MA2, MA3, FW1 or FW3 and have played in 4 or more you will be gauranteed to cash and share in the bonus even if you DFL.
<table border="1"><tr><td>PDGA</td><td>Bonus
</td></tr><tr><td>MPO</td><td>35%</td><td>50%
</td></tr><tr><td>MPM</td><td>35%</td><td>50%
</td></tr><tr><td>MPG</td><td>35%</td><td>50%
</td></tr><tr><td>FPO</td><td>35%</td><td>50%
</td></tr><tr><td>MA1</td><td>40%</td><td>50%
</td></tr><tr><td>MA2</td><td>50%</td><td>100%
</td></tr><tr><td>MA3</td><td>50%</td><td>100%
</td></tr><tr><td>MM1</td><td>40%</td><td>50%
</td></tr><tr><td>FW1</td><td>40%</td><td>100%
</td></tr><tr><td>FW3</td><td>40%</td><td>100%
</td></tr><tr><td> </tr></td></table>
I am sure this will pose lots of questions both good and stupid. Please just be patient with my time of responding, I am in the middle of several big projects right now.
A cool new disc will be available for sale in the next day or so. What is it? Wait and see. :D

I have just updated the website to show the 2 hotels we have deals for, the new disc designs and a few other things you may want to know.
The discs look great. I am still deciding if I will pre-sell them online or wait until the event? What should I do?
www.texas10tour.com (http://www.texas10tour.com) then click on the Finals Info link at the bottom of the page.
Thanks
Chris

I wanted to address the runors that the LL Woods course was under construction. It is not. The road on the back side is having work done on it. The basket that was removed so it didn't get damaged is being replaced today in a more difficult position. None of this will affect the tournament. The City of Lewisville is in full support of this event and is keeping us informed of everything.
Just to answer this quesiton before it gets asked a million times...Pro's on Sunday will play path and beyond OB with a few longer tee boxes. Am's on Saturday will play the regular course at LL Woods.
Hole 3 from the sand peninsula on the left is the $25,000 hole in one hole at the Lake course.
Also please don't expect those hotel specials to last until the day before the event. You know if you are going by now so make life easy and reserve your room today.
Thanks

I hate to ask a question that sounds so pessimistic, but is there a limit to the number of times we tee off into the lake on the $25000 hole before we move on?

Come on Laura you know you can do it. The area to the right is not very far but I guess that doesn't earn you the money? Get Don out there to practise so he can win you the money.
I did hear the water in the lake is up right now :D
I look forward to someone walking away with $25,000!

Nothing like posting on a thread from 2004:
This came in from Chris today and he wanted his friends to see it:
How about a even better update from the MAN himself - Miss you Chris:
Gday all my American Friends,
Just thought it was about time I chipped in and gave a quick update on whats been going on. A few people have sent me emails over the last few months asking various things about me. I am not a current member so cant post on the PDGA message board.
Its now been about 2 years and 4 months since I left the US. Amazing how time flies and how things can change in such a short time. I havent picked up a disc in over a year but still have a wall in my apartment with all my favourite discs displayed along with plenty of Texas 10 and Lance Armstrong memorabilia. Friends that come over always are amazed at all the cool Frisbees I have.
I basically retired from playing and running disc golf events about a year ago. I did however a month ago trade several emails with one of the guys from the new Perth Disc Golf Club and supplied him with lots of info, business models, ideas, templates and some dos and donts on setting up a disc golf event or club. I hope they take the advice to heart and all goes well. I have seen some news lately that they did the opposite to what I recommended on membership fees etc so I hope they can learn from things if they dont go well first time around. Perth is such a great place for the sport it has always been a shame it has never really taken off as it should have. Hopefully these guys can get things rocking.
I now play ball golf as much as I can. I spent about 6 months last year with a full time PGA coach and learnt so much. My coach a former LPGA pro also allows me some input into her coaching and event management business. I also consult a little with my golf club on ideas for upcoming events and tournament procedures. Its fun to keep a finger in the event management side of things. I had planned in about 3 years to be good enough to hit the Asian Tour circuit but over the last six months work has been going really well and I cant see myself earning more than I do now playing golf. So for now I keep busy selling and designing houses for a building company and playing golf about twice a week. Its good to know even in a low market I can still do well. Cant wait for the next boom!
I am looking at making a trip to Shenzen China in December to play an amateur event at Mission Hills. Its a complex of 10, yes 10 world class golf courses all grouped together. Each one has been designed by people like Arnold Palmer, Nick Faldo, Greg Norman and Annika. It is the Asian mecca of golf right now.
I recently bought a new apartment downtown right on the water with cafes, restaurants and bars all around. 20 yards to the bay with boating, water skiing and yachting and only 300 yards the other way to surf beaches. I love the location and atmosphere. As I said most of my walls are filled with travel photos, Texas 10 and Lance stuff. I may not play disc golf anymore but I havent forgotten all the fun had in the past.
My apologies to those people that thought we would stay in touch with each other. Its a hard thing to do knowing you may never see that person or people again. It makes it hard to keep in touch however those people and friends that made my time in the US a great time will always be remembered, admired and appreciated. I do keep in touch with my brother from another mother Twisted Joe Rotan and love to hear and share all our ideas and thoughts on disc golf and life. Who knows one day this Aussie may surprise everyone and appear for the Twisted Flyer $1,000,000 Hole-in-One! Oops Joe did I let one out of the bag? Always expect the unexpected and always keep something up your sleeve.
I do keep an eye on the PDGA Message Board from time to time so know a little of what goes on. Funny to see names and events I know changing, not changing, been successful or not from the other side of the world.
Thanks again everyone and have a fun year.
Yours in Flight,
Chris Himing

It's great to hear Chris is doing good down under!
I played in many of his events in Texas before he left and always had a great time.
Best of luck to him and tell him to throw a disc now and then just for the hell of it. :D
