Anyway, as for accommodations, is anyone staying in Austin? San Marcos? Wimberly? I'm thinking Austin will be a better place to stay, and it won't be too bad of a drive in the morning. I won't be able to leave DFW till about 5:30 pm, so the sooner we get to a hotel room, the better. an hour drive in the morning isn't so bad. Besides, as a child I had a bad experience with a scorpion in a wimberly motel. Any suggestions on a hotel are welcome. thx!

With the $25,000 Hole in One this year at the final I would expect a few the Am's to go for the extra event.

Thanks to Gary's awesome stats we know of several people that have played 10 in one year, and that is awesome. Before Texas 10 how many people really traveled that much for one day events?

We have had a wedding, a marriage proposal, Hooters on fairways, Hummer's on fairways, huge inflatable beer bottles...what will be next? :D

Chris, are those towels you mentioned on the previous page the ones you can find every once in a while at Academy? I've found 5 of them in a mix of black, green and navy. They're about 2-2.5 feet long with velcro and chamois on the inside if you unfold it? Or are these different? Either way, since no one can find them anymore, they'll probably sell fast! I love mine, it really helps when it rains so much that the towel is soaked.

The points are being handled a little different this year. Instead of only having one champion per division, there will be a payout to all players that amass certain levels of points.

First level is 125 points and gets you a voucher equal to the current price of standard candy (Z/Pro-line/Champion) plastic.
The second level is at 200 points and gets a voucher that will get you 2 candy discs.
The top level is 250 points and that gets you enough for 4 discs.

The points breakdown like this:
Points for participation are divided by players per division. A win in a division is worth 25 points.
You automatically get 5 points for playing, Added to that is the bonus differential multiplied by (you + everyone you beat or tied). The differential is calculated by dividing 20 by the field size. If there are 20 players the differential is 1 point, if 10 players it is 2 points.

9 * 25 = 225

Bonus qualifiers:
TDs of other events can become bonus qualifiers (ask Chris how, not my job) and have their events contribute bonus points toward the ZLT10 bonus points competition. Each Bonus Qualifier you compete in is worth 10 points to a maximum of 50 points. Points are flat rate, you attend that qualifier, you get 10 bonus points.

10 * 5 = 50

225 + 50 = 275

The final 25 points that can be earned are from the attendance bonus.
5 of 9 events = 7 points
6 of 9 events = 11 points
7 of 9 events = 15 points
8 of 9 events = 20 points
9 of 9 events = 25 points

275 + 25 = 300 total possible points

gnduke
May 14 2004, 02:26 PM
One more thing.

In the past the points were only good within a single division. If you moved around and tried different divisions, you didn't get to use all of your points toward the divisional title. There may still be something done for the winners within each division this year, but the vouchers are being done on points alone, so all points earned will count toward the point total.

dannyreeves

Thank you Master of the spreadsheet,

Now could you explain it in English? :)

gnduke
May 14 2004, 02:56 PM
Play as many events as possible, and you will get free plastic. It is planned so that if you do well in 5 events and attend a few bonus qualifiers, you reach the first level. the next level is about 7 events and all bonus qualifiers to reach the top level, you must do well in all 9 events and attend at least 5 of the bonus qualifiers.

It really helps if you play in at least 5 of the bonus qualifiers as well. 50 extra points. The bonus qulifiers are listed on the Texas 10 Tour web site under bonus info page.

Bonus qualifier points are not added to your overall point total until you attend at least 4 ZLT10 events (and I find time to calculate the points).

May 14 2004, 03:01 PM

good, I plan on playing (and again sponsoring) Mr. Jim's this year. and yeah, I know there is golf outside of DFW :-). I played in Wichita, but Nacodoches is out for me. Not seeing the Carrollton Open on the list, I kinda assumed it wouldn't be a bonus event. That would have been very disappointing, so I'm glad I was wrong.

Maybe Mace should make his final event in the DFW Food Drive Series a qualifier too... a double charity event!! Now that would be cool.

Sorry I left out a word. After you play 4 Texas 10's the bonus info will kick in. Thanks Gary.

Just got back in from a successful couple of days on the road.

I helped design a new 18 holes in Victoria. We will use the original 18 plus the new 18 for the Texas 10 on July 31. Should be fun. The new course will require a lot of straight tunnel shots. It should provide a good balance to the more open original 18. It will also be shorter. I did get to play the original course without any wind. That must be a first...no wind in Victoria. As I said before Chili's will be catering lunch for us at Texas 10. The lunch and the after event party will be great.

I spent last night and today in Corpus Christi. I enjoyed a very tasty lunch at a meeting with a potential new sponsor. No news on that one yet but it could prove very interesting.

Now I am back in San Marcos all the focus is on Wimberley this Saturday. The weather will be great as will the courses. More news tomorrow on Wimberley.

Thanks

The ZT10 website is almost upto date with players. I think there are 72 entries plus the 14 (not online yet) I received this morning that Gary has now.

Don't forget I will be doing doubles on the Rolling Meadows course from 2pm on Friday. I will accept entries from then until I leave around dark.

Pizza sounds good to me and cheap. We should start a poll to see what types I should order. I plan on ordering enough Pizza for 100 players. I expect 120 - 130 players so if you don't want Pizza bring a lunch bag.

Okay the person spreading rumors that this weekend is full please stop. It won't be a fun sight if I find out who it is. Intentially lying like this will not be taken lightly.

As I have said many times (Atwood stole my line) if you don't hear it from me the TD don't believe it.

The update to the entries for Wimberley will be done later today but we have about 95 paid entries. As you also know Wimberley has 2 courses so we can fit up to about 160 - 180 players. Does that look like it's full?

That said if anyone shows up after 8am on Saturday morning you will be turned away. Everybody has plenty of opportunites to enter so there is no excuse for being late. I will be at Cirlce R all afternoon Friday then from very early Saturday morning.

Now the good news...it will be a great weekend and beautiful weather.

Looks like at least 6 Pro Women. World Champ Des Reading (and Yeti) are back in town ready to play. Jay and Des also have some very nice PDGA Worlds fundraising discs if you are interested. See them on Saturday for those.

As I said yesterday we will be having lots of Pizza for lunch. If you don't want this then town is 12 miles away. Plenty of time if you need to run into town. Just remember that Wimberley is dry. However we will have lots of cold Ziegen Light and Ziegen Bock for everyone at the course.

I am heading out to the ranch later today to see how the courses look and whatever.

Thanks

Here is the latest player update. 113 paid players so far.
Titledisc entries will close late tonight so if you want to sleep in a little more signup on Titledisc today or early tonight.

http://www.texas10tour.com/results.php Then click on Wimberley to see who is in.

I have to go to Blanco at 7:30am tomorrow then I hope to go straight to Circle R after that. My cell phone does not work in Wimberley so if you need to call me do it today.

Otherwise be at the ranch tomorrow afternoon or bright and early Saturday morning. No entries regardless of field size after 8am.

Here is a situation that happened in Live Oak that will not happen again. I had 2 different people call Friday saying to put them on the list and they promised to be there early Saturday to pay. I thought okay I will do it and save myself a few minutes Saturday. They didn't show and it took me half an hour at lunch to remove there names, adjust the field sizes and the payout. It also caused a 3 some on a card instead of a 5 some. That will not happen again. Don't bother calling to say you will be there, just do it  The time and stress it takes to call me and ask if the event is full you could have entered by then.

I look forward to a fun day in Wimberley at Circle R. I was there yesterday for a short while and from what I saw the Meadows looks beautiful. The grass is green, the fairways mowed and lots of water in the creek. Also I hear the waterfall is looking good.

Thanks
Chris

Disc Golf at the Circle R, I knew there was a reason we came all the way back here from Iowa this week.
Speaking of which, I brought a small quantity of Worlds discs.
Not the Super Rocs, but the official discs from Innova/Discraft that feature all the killer art work that was submitted during our contest.
Also, hot off the presses are the Worlds Bag Tags. These are hot-stamped actual cattle ear tags that will directly benefit the Worlds hospitality efforts. The tags are $20 and will enter you into a drawing for $1500 in killer Innova baskets, merch and VERY special discs. Every tag holder is eligible even if not attending Worlds. But, if you do go, your Bag Tag will also get you in on the special Tag Challenge happening in every division during Worlds.

Come Get You Some!

Disc Golf at the Circle R, I knew there was a reason we came all the way back here from Iowa this week.

That was very nice of you both. Those discs Jay has are great and for a very good cause. He will have a table set up at lunch for the discs and bag tags.

So far 15 or 16 women will be at Circle R. Susan Jones is on the way all the way from Tyler! Des flew in from Iowa...what time was Julianna's flight again? Who said long tough courses turn away the girls?

We now have 120 players paid for and that is not counting today's Titledisc entries. Online entries will close later tonight so if you want in do it now.

I had a call from someone an hour ago asking what day the Texas 10 was. As soon as I said Saturday he said, "okay thnks" and hung up. I hope he doesn't turn up after 8am.

Due to the time it takes to play both courses and the warm weather I am likely to cap the field at between 150-160.

Speaking of warm weather...I will do my best to have plenty of water and ice on both courses and soda, beer and water at HQ but please be responsible and bring your own, you can never have enough water in this heat. The creek is flowing nicely and the waterfall on Hole 7 is the perfect little swimming hole. Could be a popular place at lunch time.

Correction to the totals...we now have 134 players! That is without whatever Titledisc entries I get from today and tonight. As soon as I get those numbers either later tonight or first thing in the morning I will let everyone know.

So that means I would recommend coming to Wimberley tomorrow afternoon to enter. At this rate I won't be taking entries on Saturday morning. I will keep everyone informed as things happen.

Remember my cell phone does not work at the ranch so don't try calling me tomorrow. Give a friend your money or whatever but don't wait.

Thanks
Chris

With the entries I just got from Titledisc and those I missed we are now at around 147! I know some people will be coming Friday to pay so that means no Saturday entries for anyone. I quote, "No entries taken Saturday". Please spread the word.

See you all Friday afternoon. I have a dentists appointment at 7:30am tomorrow so by the time I will be at the ranch it will be around noon.

Thanks to all those people that make a TD's life easy and sign up early. I may even have the scorecards made this time. :D

Hey Chris, Joey from Temple here.
A freind of ours is hoping to sign up Friday evening. She should be there by 7:00pm. Is that to late? If so I will check with you Friday mid day and pay for her entry.
Her name is Tracy Gilliam from San Marcus and she plays Rec. Women.
I will not be checking the board again before the tournament. Just got off work, (Pulled a double so I could be off Friday), and now it's time to get a little sleep before I head out in the morning to Circl R.

hey, i know it's late and I'm not sure if anyone will even read this before the tourney, but...

Chris, I'm hoping you can answer this before I hit the road tomorrow afternoon. I need a couple shoulder straps for a couple new bags I bought for myself and my better half. I also need some plastic, but I KNOW you'll have plenty of that in the thunder! I guess my question is, should i procure some straps before I head to Circle R, or should I just pick em up from you?

Also, I think it's notable that (according to the 146 currenly showing on the website) MA3 is the largest division! Is this a first? I know Ma2 has been the largest many times, but I've never seen this much of a Rec. turnout. and how bout the 7+ Rec Women? Deidre (my aforementioned better half) will be playing her second ZT10 with lots of girls to compete with. Needless to say we're both excited about this tourney.

See y'all in Wimberly

Wow what a day. The dentist didn't kill me but did knock me out for a couple of hours. I spent the day at the ranch turning people away. Not much fun but we all know how to fix it.

At last count I think we will have 167 players. It could be a long day on those 2 courses but we will have a fun time.

Thanks to the <font color="red"> 20 Ladies </font> that have entered. 10 Pro, 2 Adv and 8 Rec Ladies. Now if each of you bought a friend we would really have a good number. We have a full mix from Iowa native and World Champ Des Reading to first timer from San Marcos Tracy Gilliam. Good luck girls and have fun.

When I left the ranch most people had finished setting up camp and settling into some food, putting games and that other thing you do when you camp. What time would you all like me to wake you up?

I won't talk about the people that missed out but more the 167 players that will have a great time tomorrow on two great courses.

I will see if I can post an update at lunch from the Pro Shop.

Thanks

My math skills are lacking this time of night. We may hit 170 players. Just heard from a Father and his 14 year old daughter that they are on the road from Corpus Christi.

Before any of the Pro's complain that I let these 2 play consider this...A Father drives from Corpus his 14 year old daughter to meet the World Champ and play her first event or let in 2 Pro's that are never enter on time and know better. I'm not the bad guy here.

What a day.

I left my store at 10:15pm last night and drove to Wimberly. parked right next to Thunder at 2:30am and tried to sleep till Chris go there and started banging stuff around.

So I got up and helped.

I wish my body would let me play 2 long rounds in one day. I played good the 1st round even missing about 4/5 putts. (but then everyone missed some putts today)

Got to play the 2nd round with Shannon Fosdick, Kid Roc, Mike O, and my second round with Big Bird. I was in pain the second round but still finished the round.

I tied with CWare :D(who made a comment that we should have played the short tees :D) sorry mate, I beat you to it.

Got beat by Pete Lopez, who cashed BTW. Time for me to move down eh?

I was only 18 strokes out of 1st and 4 strokes out of the cash.

35 Open players. And it could have been a lot more if some idiots would learn that GOOD TOURNAMENTS are filling up these days.

Thanks Chris for another great Texas 10. I hope you use this course again next year. How about San Saba????

G'day Everyone,

Wow that was an interesting day. I got home around 1am this morning after winding down a little at the Arlington camp area. Vinnie you sure know how to make a fire. Jason I am still laughing about the carpet thing.

Firstly about the scores. Gary has the scores and will have them on the website very soon I am sure. For anyone that did not know what happened last night here is the story.

The Am's came off the Meadows course very early (thanks for playing quickly). I had all the Am results done when the Pro's started to come in off the wind blown hill. With about 8 cards to enter into the computer I was taking a quick break talking to someone outside the trailer. While I was outside a nameless person somehow managed to spill a whole bottle of beer (and it wasn't even Ziegen Bock) all over my laptop. As you can imagine that peaked my stress level. Somehow the results were saved and transfered onto another computer for which Gary copied the results.

I now have a new rule for the trailer and it's not no drinks inside, it's...NO ONE INSIDE UNLESS YOU ARE STAFF!

During the presentations it was embrassing to me to stand in front of everyone and have to delay the payout like we did. If any of you know me at all is that I take pride in what I do and the way and timing of what I do. I will be putting procedures in place in the future so no one will have the opportunity to make me feel that way again.

Back to the fun stuff...

We had a great crowd of 171 players including a great field of 21 ladies.

2 Aces which payed $171 each. John Welch on Hole 2 Meadows and Jeff Lisle (1st ace ever) on Hole 7 Meadows.

We had a great raffle which included an Innova DISCatcher, 1st Run CE Valkyrie, 2003 ZT10 Collectors Set, Lance Armstrong Posters, Disc Golf Video's, and a bag tag for this years Worlds in Iowa. Sorry I can't remember the name of the basket winner but he was an Am and very excited.

As a thank you to all girls that played we held a special "Ladies Only" ring of fire while all the guys watched. With Yeti on the microphone everyone had a lot of fun and won a lot ff great prizes. Thanks to Des Reading for donating some cool stuff. The award fro the "Best Reaction to a Win" goes to Tracy Gilliam from San Marcos. On realizing her win in one round she threw her hands in the air, jumped in the air and proceeded to run full steam at the trailer to collect her prize. The jump over the banner flags was spectacular. With everyone having a laugh she was told to collect her prize back where she came from :D Great stuff and thanks again to all the girls for the support. We had a couple of young teen girls, a World Champ, a PDGA board member, 2 that are pregnant and a host of cool girls.

More bad news...Along with dealing with my downed computer and those issues I DQ'ed and suspended 4 Pro players for drug use during the second round. I will be lettting them know of the punishment later. I will say that the 2 guys that had the honesty to admit it will be given a lighter penalty. The 2 that didn't are now suspended for the rest of the 2004 ZT10 tour!

All in all the day went great and everyone had a fun time. The Rolling Meadows course looked so awesome I wanted to play myself. Thanks to the Circle R guys for preping the courses for us all to enjoy.

More news and stories tomorrow but for now I am going to go back to bed and watch a movie and try to calm done a little

Thanks

Those are probably 2 of the best courses I have ever seen!! Wimberley has some beautiful scenery and the courses were in perfect shape for this event, if you ever get the chance this is a must play disc golf MECA :DThanks to the Circle R staff for all of the hard work they put in out there, it really made it very enjoyable for all of the players(especially the fact they kept the bathroom clean and stocked with good toilet paper all weekend). Thanks to Vinnie for hanging out Saturday night and cooking for the whole Arlington crew, you saved me allot of trouble. I'm absolutely amazed that someone spilled a beer all over Chris's laptop and it wasn't me or Ware . Please remember to support the sponsors of this event. I had the pleasure of playing the first round with Joe AKA Mr. Twisted Flyer and he is a very nice guy, so if you get a chance make sure to check out some of his products. Next stop ARLINGTON!!!!!!!

wimberley kicked ***, thanks chris! i hit dead center chains on one of the short (from the red) holes on the hill course, but it fell out..would've been nice to get my first tournament ace at such a nice course. we camped fri/sat and thoroughly enjoyed the ranch. we got 6 rounds in over the weekend, including an ill-advised nightlight round on the hill...and we swam in the waterfall pool at least that many times...crystal clear, cold, and refreshing.
meadow #10 from the blue may be my new favorite long hole anywhere, and meadow #7 (waterfall) may be my new favorite short hole. i should've chunked a disc off the hill from the blue on hill #18, but i didnt have the nerve.

yes, I agree. great event. This was the second time I had the pleasure of playing these two courses, and it had been about 2 years. Luckily, I was finally able to put together one good round, to (sort of) overcome one bad round. This was my first top-10 finish in MA2. Missing two 10-foot putts at the Meadow course (one on my first hole, one on my last), I still tied for the second-best round shot from the whites. I'm not trying to brag or anything, especially since there was alot of MUCH better golf than mine played out there this weekend... but I'm still very happy :). Not only did I play well, but for the first time in a long time, I got to play with 4 people I'd never played with before. Good times.

Thanks again Chris. I only have one constructive criticism: Don't sweat it too much about the 'computer delay.' I completely understand how you feel, but from a player's perspective it was a minor glitch in a great tourney. I wasn't upset about getting to hang out a little later for payout. See everyone in Arlington!

Well, Chris, it was another great TX-10. Wimberley is tough, even from the reds. My arm/leg muscles are still sore. This year's trophies are great! I'm glad you had a picture of the waterfall hole (Meadow # 7) since it was one of my two birdies of the day.
It was loads of fun playing with all the rec women out there and meeting the new ones. The young Ms. Lisle (whose father had his first ace) is a great player. She said she has been playing for less than a year. She's only 10 years old. Her approach shots are awesome. Like I told her dad, she could easily be a future world champ. Speaking of which, where was Paige Pierce? With 21 women out there, just think how many it would be if we got all the women that have played in TX-10's out there at once, definitely over 30.
Ladies love Chris!!! :)

Thank everyone. Here is a copy of an email I sent out last night with some updates. I lost some people's emails so let me know if you want back on my list. I even fixed the spelling mistakes.

Gday Everyone,

The 2004 Ziegen Light Texas 10 Charity Tour has now completed 4 of the years 10 tour events. A total of 680 players have participated in these 4 one day events, thats an average of 170 players per event. Thanks to all these people for helping support a great cause and enjoying themselves along the way.

Here is an update and summary of what has been going on and what is coming up in the near future.

ZT10 Wimberley Results and News:

After a couple of years away we headed back to the Texas Hill Country and to Circle R Ranch. In keeping with history of numbers for the Wimberley event I had expected around 120 players. To my surprise and to the surprise of everyone that tried to enter after Thursday night (when we filled) we ended up with a field size of 171 players, and by tee time had turned away many people. If there is one thing a TD hates to do is turn people away but disc golf courses can only support so many players in a reasonable amount of time. The days of showing up at 9am on the Saturday of the event and expecting to play are gone. You just have to look at recent Texas 10 history to see I have done, and will continue to cap the field size to make the event as enjoyable for the players that enter early.

The weather was warm, just a little cloudy and the breeze was blowing over two great courses. 171 players started right on time. The field contained no less than 21 ladies which included a World Champ, a PDGA board member, 2 ladies that are pregnant, 2 young teen girls and a host of other great girls out to enjoy themselves and the company of their fellow competitors. An Open Pro field of 35 contained some of Texas best players from all over the state.

We had 2 Aces during the day which paid $171 each, John Welch on Hole 2 Rolling Meadows and Jeff Lisle (1st ace ever) on Hole 7 Rolling Meadows.

As a thank you to all the girls that played we held a special "Ladies Only Ring of Fire, while all the guys watched. With Yeti on the microphone everyone had a lot of fun and won a lot off great prizes. Thanks to Des Reading for donating some cool stuff. The award for the "Best Reaction to a Win" goes to Tracy Gilliam from San Marcos. On realizing her win in one round she threw her hands in the air, jumped in the air and proceeded to run full steam at the trailer to collect her prize. The jump over the banner flags was spectacular. With everyone having a laugh she was told to collect her prize back where she came from. Great stuff and thanks again to all the girls for the support.

Now the bad newsFor anyone that did not know what caused the delay to the presentations here is the story.

The Am's came off the Rolling Meadows course very early (thanks for playing quickly). As you can imagine that peaked my stress level more than just a little. Somehow the results were saved and transferred onto another computer for which Gary copied the results. The full results are now posted on the Texas 10 website thanks to Gary Duke. My laptop is now only partly working so please excuse my lack of web updates until it is fixed.

I now have a new rule for the trailer and it's not any drinks inside, it's...NO ONE INSIDE UNLESS YOU ARE STAFF!

During the presentations it was embarrassing for me to stand in front of everyone and have to delay the payout like we did. If any of you know me at all is that I take pride in what I do, the way I do things and the timing of what I do. I will be putting procedures in place in the future so no one will have the opportunity to make me feel that way again. Thank you to the people that came together at the end to help make things happen and make sure everyone got paid out and the site got packed down.

More bad news...Along with dealing with my downed computer and those issues, I disqualified and suspended 4 players for drug use during the second round. I will be letting them know of the punishment later. I will say that the 2 guys that had the honesty to admit it will be given a lighter penalty. The 2 that didn't are now suspended for the rest of the 2004 ZT10 tour! No tolerance means no tolerance.

All in all the day went great and everyone had a fun time. The Rolling Meadows course looked so awesome I wanted to play myself. Thanks to the Circle R guys for prepping the courses for us all to enjoy.

Upcoming ZT10 Events:

All upcoming events can be entered online at www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com)

More news of these events very soon, but let me say, please for your own good sign up early.

24 Hour Charity Marathon: Lewisville, June 5-6

Lets all make this event huge and show the rest of the country just what can be done and the fun time we can all have doing it. For more information on the Charity Marathon you can go to, www.discgolfersforcancer.com (http://www.discgolfersforcancer.com) or click on the PDGA discussion page www.pdga.com (http://www.pdga.com)

We currently have over 30 cities around the country participating and more coming on board each day. In Texas events are happening in Lewisville, Live Oak, Houston, Corpus Christi, Victoria, and hopefully the new Cat Hollow course in Round Rock.

You can enter the Lewisville event at www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com)

Denton Open, June 26:

I would like to announce that the Saturday of June 26 was scheduled to be the McKinney Open as we did last year. This year the event will be located in Denton and called surprisingly the Denton Open. Due to unknown (or planned) scheduling conflicts with the City of McKinney we can not use that course that weekend. And if you take a look at the Texas schedule you will see that is it for dates. I will be requesting C-tier sanctioning and capping the field at around 90 players due to only having 1 course.

The City of Denton is very supportive and looks forward to us being there. Keep an eye out for more news this week on the PDGA message board. I expect to have all the entry info on Titledisc by the end of this week. So once more...no McKinney Open this year. The event is now...

Thanks for the support:

I can not say enough just how much I appreciate the work of the very few staff and helpers I have. Its amazing that everyone just wants to play these little social eventsJ. That is just fine because that is what we are here for, so that everyone can play, have fun and support a great charity. As a player when you see people working the event or just lending a hand please stop and thank them as they are there for you. If anyone would like to know how you can volunteer your help even just a little please just email or call me.

As you can see from the schedule above the coming couple of months are very busy. I will leave you with these little messages

Play Texas 10 Disc Golf Play Disc Golf Fight Cancer

The great pleasure in life lies in doing what people say you cannot do.

Thanks for the kind words Mr. C. I definately love playing the Texas 10 Tour, the events themselves are awesome and the job that Chris does for us all is very INSPIRING. I appreciate everyones interest in Twisted Flyer. Based on how things have been going I anticipate signing on for the 2005 season as well. I appreciate the people who sought me out to purchase Twisted Flyer Items in Wimberley, but as I said there, the only place you will be able to purchase Twisted Flyer will be in the TEXAS 10 THUNDER or at www.discgolftourist.com. (http://www.discgolftourist.com.) When I sponsored the tour in Lewisville, I sponsored as my trucking company (Streamline Logistics)After giving it much thought and talking with Tom (US Automatic)I decided the best bet for return business, which will allow for more sponsorship not only at Texas 10 events but other events as well would be to start working on the Twisted idea I have had for quite some time. When you buy something Twisted Flyer at an event your purchase after costs goes into a fund set up for future sponsorships, as well as helps support Chris and the wonderful tour he has founded. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Joe

So, would it be safe to say that the 4 DNF Open Pro players were the 4 in question?

Actually the reason he was DQ'ed in Live Oak was for very bad sportsmanship. I will not tolerate that either. My events are fun and competitive, and if you have an attitude like one that was on show (and reported my many players) then you will face the consequences.

I love what I do, I love to play and I love the fact that what we are all doing does so much good. I will not allow anyone to change that.

Now back to the good stuff...

The Arlington ZT10 on June 19th will be great. Next week I will be helping Jason tweak the new 9 holes that have been added to the original front 9 to make 2 great 18 hole courses at Veterans.

Chris,
I was interested in whether you support the new Pro 2 division, and are considering offering it at any events. Some people are very much against this new division, as they say it is a weenie division for wanna-be pro's who accidentally took cash and can't move down. I highly disagree, referencing the minor-league systems in most pro sports--they help develop players into high-class professionals.

Seeing as how the ZT-10 is unsanctioned, there might not be a need for this division, but it seems like a good division for those in the high-ranked advanced/low-ranked pro situation. It doesn't really effect me much, since I'm still an MA2, but it will help me progress to advanced and maybe then some later on in life, so that maybe by the time I'm ready for Pro 2, it will be a large, competitive division. Comments anyone?

gnduke
May 25 2004, 11:47 AM
I think that the skill levels associated with a specific division were very localized pre-ratings.

By that I mean that within a certain geographic area, what is now a 900 rating would either make you a solid competitor in M2O, M1O or even an ocassional casher in Open. But if you take your 900-M10 on the road to where 900 was M2O you would get spanked. If you took your 900-M1O to where the 900 was a sometime casher in Open, you would dominate the M1O field there. (M10 = MA1, M2O = MA2)

That is where you heard a lot of advice about playing down a division when you were playing out of town, and playing advanced at home.

Now I told you that so I can tell you this.

There are Pro players out there that have been Pro longer than there have been ratings. They did not really choose to go pro when they got to a certain rating. In the old "Win and move up" system that existed before ratings, if you had a good couple of events, you were being pushed into the next division.

I think Pro2 gives those players a place to play without having to quit tournament golf.

Sorry Derek I am not going to be drawn into arguments about Pro 2. I have had a brief look at that thread and I don't want to get in that mess.

Since this did not happen, I spent the first hour - hour & a half today picking them up. I don't see Joe's cooler, do you know where it was? (I think the person that put them out should pick them up since they know where they were all located.

What's your problem Alex? I was there yesterday remember and you said you would collect them all (inc Circle R's) and I would pick them up later in the week. I am sure having an extra 8 coolers helped with your Sunday event. Now stop crying. I don't pay all that greens fee money to be treated like that.

I had a great time in Wimberly. Everyone seems surprised that there were 21 women. Honestly, it doesn't surprise me in the least. Women go where they feel comfortable and you are the best at doing that. Keep it up and we'll see the womens divisions keep growing.

David and I are going to try to make Arlington. That is one of my favorite courses. Even though I play like crap everytime I step on it, I keep wanting to go back. Things are a little crazy right now but we will do our best. Gotta find a babysitter.

Actually Chris, I expected you on Sunday to come pick them up. I had our Circle R coolers for the Sunday event. (which brought in another $28 for the LA Foundation)

Thanks for the LAF donations. I will collect that when I collect my coolers.

Thanks
Chris

Chris my man, I have no problems with picking the coolers up. I said I would & have done so. They are waiting for you when you get here.

"Stop crying" ??

"Treated like that" ??

The question still is...Do you remember where Joe's cooler was left?

Peace - Alex

No worries mate. I think Joe may have already picked his up. Chili had a couple but took one already.

I will take a look around on Friday when I get there. I think is could be on Hole 16 RM.

Please tell Zane the shipment is coming in Friday via UPS. I will be there to help.

Thanks
Chris

Remind me to get the $$ when your here.

As always, you ran a great tourney. Love playing the TX 10 tour events. Thanks for running it here at these great courses.

Use your preferences to set more threads to appear on one page. I must have 25 or 30 set for me. It wasn't on the third page for me!

How cool is that! Miss Australia just won the Miss Universe crown by beating Miss USA. Go Aussie!

If any of you guys are wondering see was exactly what an Aussie girl looks and sounds like :)

Did anyone hear the host say, "Congratulations to the Thunder from Down Under".

What a great day all round :D Proud to call Australia home.

I got home late and turned the tv on. The Miss Universe Pageant was on and I watched a little bit of it. As the ladies were parading around, one caught my eye. It was Miss Australia. I watched it long enough to see the swimsuit and she was definitely a standout. Then I flipped it over to basketball.

Chris, it's pretty cool to have a fellow countryperson as Miss Universe isn't it? Congrats mate.
