192 Players...
Please do not come here in the morning expecting to play. I was very nice to all the people that turned up late today. The rest of the year I get mean. There will be 2 ghosts cards on each course tomorrow but no 6 some's. If things run slow please blame all those that don't think it is important to enter early. Next event they will learn.
The full players list is currently being put together by the web guru Gary Duke. They will be on the Texas 10 site very soon. I will post a link.
3 people try to pull the ratings wool over my eyes. These people were moved up a division due to their rating.
Nathan Bitner - now Advanced
Stuart Doing - now Int
Sean Pool - now Int
My-Hero Paul Kreke confirmed his entry with me this afternoon, thanks.
My room service is on the way, then it's back to doing the doubles results and a few more details for tomorrow. I will post more soon.
Thanks
Chris "we are full" Himing

Life must be nice Chris. We will miss you tomorrow at Gonzales, but I guess we will excuse you "this time"!!! Don't work to hard and be sure and give Atwood a hard time for me!!!

Life could be better but then again I will be in the park with 193 of my closet friends tomorrow. My thoughts are with my friend in San Antonio that just had knee surgery. It's been a long and tiring week so it will be good to kick the year off tomorrow.
We couldn't get the Texas 10 score page going so I will try to post the player list here without the hole assignments. Be at the 8:30am players meeting and all will be revealed.
Doubles results soon.

AWESOME - wonder if we will be able to beat the record in the Nation for the biggest MA2 field of last year, which was set at the Finals.
Weather is going to be good - looking like low 60's and windy.

The service has been suspended, I just hope they turn it in to a Sprint store somewhere.

Dropped by the course today to see everyone.
Met a disgruntled Disc Golfer who had to play with guys "smoking" on the course.
Need less to say, he is talking about quitting the game.

Do you ever have anything postitive to say Bryan? Please email and explain. All I heard was everyone had a great time. Thanks for dropping by to spy on my players and then try to spoil the day after the fact. Here is an interesting fact Bryan that since you seem more interested in putting down someones event...the guy serving the beer all day was DEA and was armed. Do you know what DEA does Bryan?
Sorry for not getting the scores up last night. I did the usual sponsor meet and great until late. The Mardi Gras party at Sneeky's was fun. When I got back I emailed the results to Gary and he will have them posted on the Texas 10 website very soon. He would have done them last night but I didn't get them to him until late. The PDGA does not allow me to cut and paste the results now so we will include a link to the results.
194 players and a great day for us all. I will write a lot more later and give some info. I am about to head north to Wichita Falls for the day to check out the scene there. I plan on giving a full overview of the next location Texas 10 will desend apon on march 20-21.
Did I mention we will be having a $25,000 Hole in One in November.

(gulp) Did you say armed DEA. Are you kidding me? Everyone has a job right, so what makes this guy any different.
All this talk about "smoking", you Texas guys kill me.
Maybe if you were more worried about your scores and less so about what others are doing you would have a better time at these events ... if you partake great, if you dont great.I mean who cares, and if you have to spend your time hiding behind trees trying to catch those drinking an adult beverage, or smoking the "evil weed" then you need a life. Maybe thats just how we do it up here in Indian Territory. Please take note.
Thank you have a wonderful day.

Thanks Chris and Crew for putting on a fun and memorable event.
Can't wait to taste that Mark Atwood beer at WF. Thanks for making the Second round a fun filled walk Frank. This couldn't have been better scripted, unless of course, you didn't like the outcome :p
Hey Chris, When can we start signing up for our chance at the $25,000 ace run and the tour bonus?
Ray :D
Goooooood Morning from rainy Temple, TX. Before I start my new campaign of putting Bryan James, Former State Coordinator and long time disc golf malcontent in his place, I'd like to start on a more positive note regarding how awesome yesterday's ZLT10 #1 for '04 was. :)
Let's first get out of the way all the pesky nonsense of how much crap I talked compared to how I actually played. Regarding that, let me just say...WHAT'S NEW? :DMy first round wasn't horrible, and even my score which wasn't good, still had me hanging around middle of the pack. Then the Lake Course and the Curse of Poole came back to haunt me, as usual. Where my 1st round was only inches away from being a pretty respectable round, my afternoon at the Lake was nothing short of brutal to watch. It was cringeariffic. In fact, if I hadn't made several dramatic and outstanding upshots, I shudder to think how much worse it would've been. :)
That said, it was so great to be back in OMB again and playing with all my friends. Gary Duke, Gary McDaniel (who somewhere along the line in my abscence has learned how to play), Frank Dorsett, John Welch, Jerry Power and Ray Murray were all outstanding cardmates and reminded me once again why this is the most fun division to play in tournament golf. Thanks to all of you guys for making it such a fun day in spite of the cold and the wind.
Thanks also to the Dorsett family (as always) for being the best out of town hosts I have the pleasure to call my friends. You guys are the bomb. (BTW, tell Danny that if he would just put that "Mark Atwood $ucks" disc on ebay, I can guarantee him there's a market for it.)
Congrats to all the winners, the staff and volunteers and to all the players. There's not much better than hanging out on the course all day with about 200 of your friends, while playing and being part of something really special, like the work that the tour is doing for not only disc golf in general, but for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Well done, mate. We all appreciate what you're doing and wish you continued success.
BTW, Frank, where's my disc? Can you point it out to me?
Now, I have a lot to say about this (like that surprises anyone, duh!), but I'm kind of in a time crunch right now so I'll keep it mercifully brief.
While I have way too much class to make public, private conversations or emails on the board (unlike what a certain neon colored pasta dish has done in the past), I do think its important for anyone who's curious about Bryan's strange and seemingly unecessary derision of a great event yesterday to know that there's a history here.
While I totally expect him to deny it publicly, Bryan has always had issues with Chris personally and with the Texas 10 events. Without being specific, suffice it to say that any negativity directed at Chris' events or things that occur there, emanating from Mr. James, should be taken with a whole block of salt.
Bryan, I have spent plenty of time with you discussing certain aspects of our sport, its growth, its problems, etc. And there's one thing I've never understood. If you spent more of your energy in a positive way, you could do a lot of good. Instead, you seem to relish upsetting people and only pointing out negative things.
While that approach may make me wonder where your priorities are, it leaves little doubt in my mind what kind of person you are. Thanks for removing that doubt in other's minds as well.

I don't think ya'll should be jumping on Bryan so hard. He has a pet peeve and someone told him about something they saw. I have the same pet peeve, and so does Chris. Nobody came up to me and told me about anything. I don't think anybody told Chris about anything.
As the SC for the PDGA, I do feel obligated to do something about what I see on the course, or even what I am told about what is happening on the course, but Bryan didn't even tell me about this.

is it just me or did BJ pull the same thing after the opener last year and the year before...just a thought...sounds like another great event...and Mr. TY might think about a different division...MJ
Atwood, since i see you are in Temple and the sun is now out I was wondering if you were scarred to get your shoes muddy out at the course today? You can name the time.

CLASS ACT !!!!! (http://www.texas10tour.com/images/index_r3_c1.jpg)
Gary, as you well know, Bryan and I share the same pet peeve, as do you, Chris and numerous other players and organizers.
What does this have to do with his approach, his methods or repeatedly offering nothing but negativity where this topic is concerned? What about when there seems to be a pattern when it comes to Thunder and Texas 10?
Sorry, but I call 'em like a see 'em. If it quacks like a duck...

Ok, I may have deserved that.
1st off, let me say that the tournament yesterday was the bomb. I wish I could have played.
Everything about the Texas 10 tournaments is great. It does not bother me that people are allowed to drink when playing. I mean, the tournament is sponsored by a beer company. You don't have to leave the course to eat, you don't have to worry about finding a place to stay, (unless you drive in the night before) You get to pick your own plastic, from GREAT stuff. Chris does not inflate his prices, he does find deals for the players.
Chris has done more than almost anyone else in Texas to further Disc Golf. Before Chris started the Texas 10's, you rarely ever saw "pick your own". You rairly ever had lunch at the course. (good food on top of that) You never saw $10000 (or $25000 for that matter) Ace holes.
Chris has also supported the fact that POT has no place at a tournament. BUT some people just don't get it. That is what frustrates me.
Chris does all these good things and someone comes up to me after the tournament and tells me (without me saying anything about it) about this guys who smoked out durring the round. This apparently even happend next to the street.
Why did they not tell Chris about it,
THEY DIDN'T FEEL THAT ANYTHING WOULD BE DONE ABOUT IT BECAUSE NOTHING IS EVER DONE and that it was not a PDGA event.
I did tell him that Chris follows the PDGA rules and he should tell him about it.
All I stated was a fact. What was I suppose to say, Nothing??
The main problem I have with this is the FACT that I have personally LOST a BIG sponsor because of this problem. I have personally had friends and family quit playing because of this.
I felt that I needed to state this publicly because some of you have forgotten it. Believe me, I don't enjoy the flack I get at the courses when I play. I am afraid to walk around for the fear of walking up on someone. Even durring casual rounds when I NEVER say anything, I feel strange.

Wow Bryan. You dropped by to receive some complaints. How conveneint. You are not the Dad of Texas disc golf. I actually agree with your beliefs, I just drastically disagree with your un-needed/unwanted, policing. Your heart is in the right place but you have made yourself into a nit-picking, old hen that no one wants to listen to. I hope you continue to run great events. I hope you stop turning what you have done into "that Bryan James is a one stop shop of anti-drug blah, blah blah." You know me well enough to know that I speak from my heart.
Funny, who made me the conscience of let me show you the way.

oh, BTW, In the Carrollton newspaper, there was a write up about the tournament all the Texas 10 tournaments. They even talked about the $25,000 hole in one for the finals. (this was on Wednesday)
My Texas final tour continues.
Chris, great event. Please continue for many years. YOU are making a difference.
My-Hero. Your hospitality and friendship is first rate. Thanks for the best sleep ever!!! Good luck with little Lucky. Your going to be the best dad.

I am back in Lewisville for the day then back south to San Marcos. Then it's turn around and head off to Waco to play.
Wichita Falls was fun yesterday. The sun was shinning and both courses were fun to play. The 35 mph wind changed scores a little however. I will post full info and photos of Wichita Falls later this week when I get home.
As for Bryan's comment I will comment more later. If you don't think I have ever done anything about DQ'ing someone think again before you mouth off. I prefer to do a good job running my events (and follow the rules) then post negative words about Texas 10 and disc golf in general. You say Bryan you have lost sponsors for the Carrollton open because of the smoking issues. Well guess what, check out my sponsor list. I even got a major new one Saturday after the presentations from the what I did during the day.
Back to the positives...I would personally like to thank everyone for allowing be to honor my cousin with the Australian National Anthem on Saturday morning, it means a lot to me.
As Chris Ware says, "Cancer Sucks". Texas 10 is making a difference. :)

TWISTED FLYER - A NEW SPONSOR COMING TO A TX10 NEAR YOU.
Chris, as usual it was good to see you and the Thundafromdownunda.............You ARE the standard for disc Golf Tournaments anywhere!.......Every thing about these events is Top Notch........In a few years we are going to be looking back at these events as the fledglings for the Super Events being run by you.....Having said that,...........I can't let Bryans post go unanswered....I got on line this morning to check everything out and BAM was hit in the face by Bryans first post.....just totally brought me down......I like Bryan and agree with him on this matter......BUT......This is not the way to adress it!!!!!
"THEY DIDN"T FEEL THAT ANYTHING WOULD BE DONE ABOUT IT BECAUSE NOTHIN IS EVER DONE"
THAT SIR, IS AN UNTRUE STATEMENT AND HEARSAY AT BEST!!.
...Last year at the finals Chris made a ruling on this matter towards someone that is VERY close to home for Chris....reported him to the PDGA and followed all proper channels........For you ( Bryan) to post what the "other guys" said on this board without talking to Chris seems out of line.......I can't help like feeling these comments do not pass the "smell" test on a few levels............Bryan I agree with you that pot has no place on the course but I also feel that your earlier post has no place on this board............GGGT........john

Wow! 193-4-5 players. Full + field. And no real slow downs during play either (even with ghost cards and LL Woods OB).... Great job Chris!
And Re: The smoking issue. Chris does not play. Not taking care of it risks his sponsorships and image. But he can't deal with what he doesn't know.
And a Good Rule of Thumb -- Sign up early or stay home, regardless of division.
Mr. Bender, this note is to inform you of the status of your good standing as an Alum of our University.
That standing is in jeapordy. There are two reasons for this.
First, hexing the Dean is against our School Charter. After encouraging your entire card to cheer for me after a successful 3-foot putt in the morning round, I was cursed and didn't make another putt for the remainder of the round. This selfish act calls into question your dedication to our program.
Secondly (and most importantly), I have heard reports from credible sources (spelled sourses if you're from Australia), that you had numerous opportunities to provide great examples of what we teach and passed them by. According to my sources, there were a number of times when you eschewed the back and forth putt, and selfishly chose to drain your first attempts instead.
We have our eye on you, Mr. Bender.

did everyone play same layout with same OB's? if so we got a BAGGER in ADV and quite a few in AMS!!
also was it WINDY. those LL woods scores are pretty WEAK!!! :D
Chris Ware, I did not see where anyone answered your question. So, here it is. The pros and advanced, men only, played LL Woods with sidewalks and beyond OB. All other divisions played with only the concrete culverts OB.
PS - I don't know what or how much yet, but Don & I will be donating to the Chance Fund, too.

And Re: The smoking issue. Chris does not play. Not taking care of it risks his sponsorships and image. But he can't deal with what he doesn't know.
It's not only the TDs responsibility to police the tourney for rules infractions. As players, we share that responsibility: to enforce all rules.
The following incident occurred during this year's Victoria Open: A guy on our card broke out a baggie of weed and was getting ready to role one up. I immediately told him, "I'm going to have to ask you to put that away." I didn't ask him to put it away. I demanded that he put it away.
Had he rolled and lit one, I would have asked him to immediately leave the course, stopping only to DQ himself with the TD.
So...my new stance is: if you're on my card (or if I witness you on another card) and I see you pulling out your stash...I'll simply tell you to put it away. If I see you smoking, I'll ask you to DQ yourself. And I'm not open to debate on your answer to either request.

I wanted to congratulate Chris on his choice of renditions of the National Anthem for the opener. From where I was stationed by the PA system, I could see several eyes wiped during the anthem. I must admit mine were a little moist as well. Great way to get the point of the charity across and one of the reasons we attend the ZLT10s.

Honorable and Most-Learned Sage of B&F Putting,
I merely was asking my card to encourage you to demonstrate the technique which the School advances and you have perfected. I felt they would be enlightened upon seeing this skill and attempt to try it during the rest of our round. To my dismay, they chose to continue the standard putting technique of placing the 1st putt in the basket. Luddites....
Not long after my encouragement, I was inspired and successfully completed a difficult 10' 3-putt. I continued my success at your esteemed putting method in the afternoon as well. So those who saw me drain putts either were mistaken or enjoying too much Ziegen Light.
Obviously, my "sources" were merely trying to get on my good side and drag your good name through the mud. After careful consideration of both sides of the story, here's my final stance on the matter:
1. Your non-standard 10 foot 3 putt is a shining example of what we strive for here at MASofB&FP.
2. Its obvious that with the GPA you carried throughout your time here, that the intial reports of your putting couldn't possibly have been accurate.
It is therefore my reccommendation that this report be forgotten and will not show up on your permanent record.
Sincerely,
Marka, Dean, MASofB&FP

Standing 30ft. out, looking at the chains. What's going through the mind? "Don't miss. Just ching it in there." You set, throw and crap you miss. You take that LONG walk around the basket, head held high because you WILL make the next one. Set, putt and "NOT AGAIN". Take that LONG walk, head a little lower but you still have FAITH. Set, putt and can't believe what you see. Take that LONG walk again with head down low. Know what's going through the mind now....

Hey Chris,
Will you be rating our individual rounds during the TX10 events this year? If so, I assume you will be making these ratings available to us, either here or on the TX10 website, correct?
gnduke
Mar 02 2004, 04:55 PM
If I do the ratings this year, they will be available on the ZLT10 web page in the results similar to the PDGA results page. Still haven't decided if I will be doing it this year. I usually don't know when different divisions play different layouts. If you get this wrong when entering scores, it really messes up the ratings for all of the divisions.
I will probably do it this year, but it won't be for a few weeks. After I get everything set up, they should come out within a week of the event.

Your putting at the Lake Course during the start of the ZLT10 Season for '04, is worthy of our consideration. Taken on its own, it is enough to garner you the attention of our recruiters.
This outstanding performance, coupled with your long history of missed putts, doinkers, bounce outs and fly bys, makes you a perfect choice to represent us.
Therefore, it is my pleasure to inform you that you have been chosen as our first female student to carry forth to the world the principles taught here, at MASofB&FP.

The 2004 Ziegen Light Texas 10 Charity Tour kicked off in fine style in Lewisville last Saturday. 194 people ended up playing with many more being turned away. There are only so many people you can fit on two courses.
In memory of Tony Solo Ware and Liane Himing, who passed away last week of cancer we all observed a moments silence then played both the US and Australian Nation Anthems. Cancer does touch all our lives and the work we are all doing to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation does make a difference. Thank you.
With so many players and a less than usual staff level everything went off with perfect timing. Lunch was provided by Sneaky Petes, and the new Ziegen Light was cold and fresh. At 5pm the Hooters Girls arrived to cheers with 500 wings, which were snapped up very quickly. As the girls drove off into the sunset we began the presentations well ahead of schedule.
The big announcement that I had been talking about was released. At the final event in Lewisville on November 13 and 14 we will be having a $25,000 Hole in One. Entry details for the final will be announced very soon. Who will make disc golf history?
A group of us then headed over to Sneaky Petes for a Mardi Gras party then onto Hooters to thank them for the wings. It was a great day and a great start to the 2004 tour.
Full results can be found at http://www.texas10tour.com/results.php
Due to the obvious popularity of the 2004 tour please do all you can to enter the events early. In future events I will be less than likely to allow late entries as I did Saturday. You have many options to enter, there are no excuses.
On Sunday after the event I drove north to Wichita Falls to check out the courses. I will post a full report and photos of Wichita Falls next week but I will say a few things. We will have a hotel deal, lunch at the course, directions posted, course maps and everything you need to have a great weekend.
Saturday March 20 will be a Texas 10 event as per normal. On Sunday March 20 we will do a PDGA B-tier event with $500 added to the Pros and player packs to all Amateurs.
I have heard a lot of talk about the courses. Here is a little overview before I post the photos and hole details.
Lucy Park: this will be tournament head quarters. The original course is short and tight. However we have extended 7 of the holes to make a tougher test. Holes range from 180 feet to over 450 feet. Add the ever present wind and it will be a fun course. The numbers of the extended holes will be announced next week for anyone going to Wichita Falls to practice.
Jaycee Park: About a 15 minute drive from Lucy Park and is a lot longer and more open. It measures at about 6500 feet. The course is well covered with newly planted trees. Being a flat course the wind really makes a difference. The original course will not be changed except for moving hole 1 a little to the left to make it further from a longer holes fairway.
The weekend after Wichita Falls I will be running a one day PDGA C-tier in Gonzales. This new 18 hole course is just 40 minutes SE of San Marcos and an easy drive from Austin and San Antonio. As normal there are plenty of entry options including www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) This event will be capped at about 70 to 80 people because it is only 18 holes.
Thanks again to everyone for a great start to the year. More info on the upcoming events will be available next week.
Yours in Flight,
Chris Himing

I don't know how long Josh will bag, but I know that there are plenty of baging a** MA2's out there waiting on their ratings to move them up!! Move up and get a better payout!! Josh and the other cat were playing off for count em $7 and the right to 1ST place!! That division pays out deeper so more people get paid (which is a good thing).. Then the MA2 leaders B**ch about thier payout.. Boo!! Grow some and bring it to Advanced so the field isn't pissss poor.
Oh and just as a side note MY player rating just moved me out of REC. I don't get to play in a lot of sanctioned events but i hit the Z10's so my rating stays low.. I would imagine there are quite a few people in this situation. I think most of them are sticking with thier ratings even though they know they are better than MA2!! In about another year I think the ratings will take care of some baggers.. Congrats on your move COX..

Chris - any information yet regarding hotel rates in Wichita Falls next weekend?
Jaycee Park is now called Lake Wichita Park, and it should be in the course directory. I am going to send Chris driving directions either today or tomorrow, and he will get them out to you as soon as possible.
Adam, and all, just got off the horn with the intrepid Mr. Himing, who is still in Wacko. He mentioned that he wouldn't be home until later tonight and that he'd be posting hotel/etc. info soon. To quote, "No worries."
Hey Justin, what do you mean directions to the course? I thought all 150+ of us were showing up at your house for the big party and then following you to the course. :)
No wait, the party's at that Japanese place right? The one with S. Brower's picture on the wall over the Saki decanters? :)

That isn't encouraging news...Kerr, Newberry, someone, let us know how many baskets are missing - may need to bring some portables.
I seem to remember that the first few holes at Jaycee have been gone for some time. The city hasn't been to hot to replace 'em, but we'll show 'em than we can make a little impact when we show up in ZLT10 numbers. Maybe they'll be encouraged to get 'em back in the ground.

I can't wait to get to WF! As many of you know, that weekend was originally scheduled to be the second part of our Evolution Series this year. I really appreciate Chris helping me out when I was down and out and taking over that event as he has many of my others for '04. Making it a one-day B-tier and coupling it with a ZLT10 is a great way to get people out to these wonderful, but under appreciated Texas courses.
As a TD of a B-tier last year on this date and having scheduled one again this year, I'm sure that this is gonna be a big weekend for Texas golf for a long time to come. Hopefully next year, HCF can get back on the horse, but this event is in great hands with Thunder on board.
Fortunately, now that my life has calmed down a bit, while I still wouldn't have had time to run it or come into town early as is my usual S.O.P., I do think I'll be able to come play. Its all part of my evil master plan. Schedule events, get Chris to run 'em, then I play and he works! :)
See you all in Witchita! (Falls, that is. Swimming pools, movie stars.)
:D
Hey Chris Will it be a prob for me to sign up early Sunday morning for this event? I will only be able to attend one event , but I guess one is better than none. If you want I can pay you with my credit card over the phone if that is a possibility.....
We do have 3 missing baskets, but not to worry, we have plenty of portables here in town to cover them.

As you all know I run both non-sanctioned and PDGA sanctioned events. The one common denominator at these events above all else is the following of PDGA rules and regulations.
Due to this I have come to a decision that will affect next weekends schedule for three well-known and liked Texas players.
Yesterday Justin Kerr, JD Ramirez and Barry Pierce were suspended by the PDGA for 2 months. Please read the other discussion thread for the reasoning on this. It had nothing to do with a Texas 10 event. I have personally spoken to these three players and have told them I will be holding up to the PDGA decision and they will not be allowed to play Texas 10 events during their period of suspension. The players all accepted my decision with respect to the difficult position I have been placed in due to the type of events I run.
While I have personal opinions on their suspension to PDGA events I will not voice them here. However please be aware the PDGA Commissioner and Competition Director have been informed of my opinions and they have been put in writing.
I look forward to all three players continuing to play in my Texas 10 events and PDGA sanctioned events in the near future.
Yours in Flight,

Chris,
I plan on coming to the Tx10 WF stop. Quick question, If i sign-up via Titledisc, but for some reason i don't make it, will it count as 1 of my 4 events that is needed in order to receive bonus $$ at the final?
Basically, i'd rather "donate" my entry to the open division if it still counts as 1 of the 4 needed for the final.(But i plan on being there.)
okcacehole
Mar 15 2004, 02:24 PM
From the Texas10tour.com website:
If you pre-pay for an event and don't show then you will not have that event used as a qualifier, however the entry will be donated to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
gnduke
Mar 15 2004, 03:10 PM
That is a change from previous years where the player was still carried on the scoresheet, and marked as a DNF with his entry going toward the division payout, the event counting toward qualifying for the bonus, and the player actually getting a few points for having signed up.
Chris does not want the last few events of the year to fill up with phantom players that are just trying to get that last qualifier in before the finals and have no intention of playing. This year (as explained to me) any player that pre-registers and does not show up (meaning he did not notify Chris before hand) will be removed from the division, have their entry donated to Lance, and receive no points or credit for playing that event.
I am sure that Chris will work with you to get a refund if you pre-register, but later are unable to attend. Of course this only applies if you let him know in advance that you will not be able to make the event.
that makes sense. or is it cents. or scince. or scents.
my_hero
Mar 15 2004, 05:03 PM
Booooooooo
Donating it to the LAF is far better than donating it to the open division, or whatever division you joined. That's a great idea! Not counting it as a qualifier, and getting nothing for your money is a bit harsh.
that makes sense. or is it cents. or scince. or scents.
Actually, its science. :)
gnduke
Mar 15 2004, 05:26 PM
Actually it is not having to turn away some players that are at the course trying to get in Friday night but you think the event is full plus trying to ensure that you don't have 2 man cards being sent out when the 2 or 3 players that don't show up happen to end up on the same card.

Mar 15 2004, 05:33 PM
Okay guys I go out of town for a few days and everyone is thinking the worst. I just got back and am catching up but here is the deal.
It is all about fairness. If you enter and I don't hear from you and you don't show I will put that money to the LAF. If you call me ahead of time and let me know you can't be there I will gladly refund your money. That's fair I think. As far as the qualifing event goes that is a little more difficult. As Gary said I do not want people singing up for events they know they will not be playing just to enter the final with all the added money. I am sure Kenny or Barry would like that option. I will always do my best to work with people but only if I know things ahead of time. If you play an event you get credit, if you don't sorry you don't.
John if you can't make it please just call and I will refund your money, no worries.
I have a few things to do but will post more later about this weekend.
Thanks

Basketball has March Madness, and now I think Disc Golf has as well. What a month so far, and we still have two more weekends to go. Get ready for a big weekend in Wichita Falls then the following weekend in Gonzales.
This past weekend I found myself and the Thunder headed to the coast for a one day Sunday event in Ingleside, just outside of Corpus Christi. Just five weeks ago the cities Lions Club asked the locals to hold a small event in association with a fun run. By the end of the day we had 53 players and paid out 179%. Many of the players were first timers and we all had a fun time. Plans are already in the works for next year along with a few surprises for the Coastal Clash in September this year, in Corpus Christi. More news on the Coastal Clash event soon.
This weekend the Texas 10 Tour will head north to Wichita Falls. To make it an even bigger weekend we will be holding a PDGA B-tier event on the Sunday after the Texas 10. Two big days of Texas Disc Golf.
Click on http://www.texas10tour.com for all the information you will need including directions, hotel deal, and the logo for the Sunday B-tier. Dont forget the B-tier on Sunday will have $500 added cash along with $15 player packages for all Amateurs.
Some of the new stock we will have in Wichita Falls includes, Z-CryZtal Challengers, Super Rocs, Quad Shocks, new Pro SE Teebirds and lots of new custom stamped discs. We also have DVDs of the 2003 National Tour and PDGA Worlds.
We will be holding doubles at Lucy Park on Friday afternoon from 2 to 4:30pm flex start
We welcome a new sponsor this weekend to Texas 10. Twisted Flyers from Oklahoma are happy to support our events and will soon have cool logo stamped discs for sale.
On Saturday, March 27 we head back south to Gonzales for a one-day PDGA C-tier. Gonzales is just 40 minutes SE of San Marcos and has a great new 18-hole course. Everyone that has played the course loves it. The field will be limited to around 90 players so please enter early on http://www.titledisc.com Doubles will be held on the Friday before from 2 to 4:30pm.
I will be in Wichita Falls from Thursday on, so please be patient if you email or call me. Before you ask if we have spots left in either event ask yourself what I always say. Sign up now and you will have a spot. See you in Wichita Falls for a big weekend of Disc Golf.
The Ziegen Light Texas 10 Charity Tour is proud to be the home to the Worlds Richest Disc Golf Hole in One Contest. The USAutomatic $25,000 Hole in One will happen November 13-14, 2004. Will you be there?

A buddy and I went up to WF (from Denton) today to check out the courses and practice a bit. I managed to get my first ACE today on #9 at Lucy Park...skipped a ProLine Monster into the chains! I'm guessing there will be many Aces at Lucy this weekend...I got my butt kicked in rec at Lewisville, and I managed a -2 and -3 on my two rounds at Lucy, and a +9 at the Lake (63...there are actually lots of par 4's and 5's as marked, so I really shot under posted par there, too) so I'm guessing there will be some REALLY low scores at both courses.
Lucy Park is pretty cool, but most of the holes are ultra-short (tees are marked in yards, not feet, and most holes are 50yd-75yd...many are ~150ft). There is one hole that is ~500 and a couple that are in the 300' range. I seem to remember seeing that some holes will be extended for this weekend, though. The feel of this course reminds me of the course in McKinney...lots of short holes through trees.
Lake Wichita Park (Jaycee) is much longer...almost all the holes are in the 400-500ft range, with many short trees making it a unique course, but it's still a little bland, imho. There is a giant dirt pile (at least 10 stories high maybe) that we climbed up and chunked discs off of down onto the course...that was the highlight of this course. Oh yeah, there are still 3 baskets missing (replaced by big holes in the ground with orange pylons in them).
If you start near #1 at the Lake Course..park in the next to last entrance on the left...if you start near #12 or so, park in the very last entrance near the giant dirt pile.

there are no water hazards at all...unless you throw WAY off and go into the wichita river at lucy (you would have to suck in ways previously unheard of). the lake at the other course is pretty far away from any of the holes. you could definitely chunk a disc in it from the top of the dirt pile though...
Brian, you may be surprised when you get to Lucy Saturday. My understanding is that there are longer tee placements for many of those "ultra short" holes you were playing off the marked pads.
I can't wait to see it. Lucy is a beautiful little park, with some huge gorgeous old trees. With a little length added that should be a fun, as well as a more challenging place to play.
ZLT10 + WFO = Great DG Weekend!

My-hero I expect Titledisc to close sometime later tonight. I haven't heard from Ben for a week so who knows. If you want you can call me and I will take your entry and payment over the phone.
Yes Lucy Park is short but we will be stretching 6 or 7 holes. I have an OB rope thought on one long hole which could be fun. Doubles on Friday afternoon will play from the long tees so people can see the course.
The missing 3 baskets at Jaycee Park will be there for the weekend. We have portables so no worries.

I am half way to Wichita Falls. Stopped off last night and now getting back on the road. I just got over 60 entries for this weekend but won't be able to get them processed until later tonight when I get to the hotel. Gary may be able but he will let you know and post here.
I am not feeling 100% or even 50% for that matter so it's going to be a long day. Maybe picking up the beer will help.
Keep entering on Titledisc. I expect it will close later tonight. If you miss it just call me tonight and I will take care of it.
Time to drive North.

Can anyone give me the actual driving time from Dallas? I am going to be leaving sometime around 3pm and want to know if it will be possible to get in a practice round before it gets too dark? I feel the need for a round!!

Newberry and Kerr - your discs were retrieved from Lewisville Lake and you can find the email to get them back on the Lost and Found thread

Dischappy, its about 110 miles from the Lake Lewisville course to WF. Guess it depends on how fast you drive and where in DFW you are. :)
See y'all there. I won't be in until late tomorrow night, unfortunately, but I'll be ready to smack around some old guys by Saturday morning. :)

"A dingo ate my baby"
Cool Adam, reminds me of home. That's one bid **** rock trust me. Here is a trivia lesson. It is the Worlds second largest monolith (bloody big rock), what is the first and where is it?
I am still not in Wichita, I am not feeling too good so trying to rest before I terrorize the highway with the Thunder. I hope to be there later tonight.

Okay - here is my guess:
Kata Tjuta National Park: 280 miles (450km) southwest of Alice Springs. Ayers Rock/ Uluru, the world's largest monolith and an Aboriginal sacred site is Australia's most famous natural landmark. Visitors may wish to make the tough 1.6km ascent to the top or take a walking tour around the rock with an aboriginal guide , learning about its fascinating with the Uluru people and its importance in dreamtime legend.

Internet discrepancies - I found what I posted above and then this one also:
Mount Augustus
The largest monolith in the world
Located 320 km east of Carnarvon, Mount Augustus is the largest monolith in the world. It is 2.5 times larger than Uluru (Ayers Rock) standing 858 m above the surrounding plain and 1105 metres above sea level.
Okay...you Aussies have some large rocks :D

You know, Ayer's rock is one of only two places in the world where that particular type of rock is jutting up out of the ground like that. Can you tell me the other place?
(Hint) You don't have to look far.

I am not fit to drive (on the USA side of the road anyway). I hope to leave very early in the morning.
Thanks Gary for updating the entries. I have about 10 more so makes us at over 100 for Saturday before the OK crowd and the usual late Pro's arrive. Looks like it will be a fun day and weekend. Titledisc is still open so enter now please.
Australia has lots of big things guys...you call that a knife  I just had a good idea for the next full color stamp.

Hope you get to feeling better soon, Chris. I've been a little under the weather as well this week. Just now starting my recovery.
Gary, could you double check my entry. The players list says that I'm signed up for ADV women. I don't think that's what David signed me up for. Thanks.
