Out of the 33 players in MA3 showing registered at this time, the highest PDGA ranking amongst them is a 843 for Jan Baumgardner. The majority are not even PDGA members.
Guess you could check the other thread about bumping up locals players who don't have rankings yet, but consistently place in the top in their division.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone has a room that needs a room mate? I can't find anyone to carpool with down there, may be I can justify putting over 500 miles on the car if I can at least find a roommate.
Don's running a workday at Veteran's Saturday (and he's still playing gimp with his right elbow out) so he won't be coming with me.

I will make sure you have a spot in the tournament Laura so come on down. I know you will like the course.
Hey Here's Duhhhhh, I looked up your PDGA tourney stats and your stats from the ZLT10's. Funny thing, there weren't any. Even Funnier, they have you listed as an M10.
So when, exactly, have you beaten me? GDS? I think not. If being able to beat me is the only thing you're hanging your hat on, I would definitely recommend that you remain in Rec. Even on your home course.

Back in the late 90's when I was promoting mountain bike racing at Fort Hood Lance just showed up! No one knew he was coming at all. He entered the Pro division and blew away every top Texas racer! He flew through the 10 mile loop of singletrack, fire roads, and steep climbs liked greased lightning. He donated his cash winnings to a charity on Fort Hood for children with cancer. THE MAN KNOWS SPORT and would probably be great at any sport he chose.
I wonder if he will start playing some disc tournaments?

All you tough guys out there prepare for a little tear in your eye on Saturday morning.
I heard a rumor someone had a question...???
No Island hole this year, that is so yesterday :D
All Pro and Adv divisions (inc ladies) will play ALL cement OB. That includes all culverts and the area around 16.
All Int and Rec divisions will not play cement OB.
Only the Rec ladies will not shoot across the lake on Hole A (after Hole 2). You Rec Men the time of recogning is here.
Doubles format will be the usual. Pick your own loser (I mean partner) and enter or bag in what ever division you want. $10 per player. Cash to Pro's, merchandise of choice to Am's.
I have to stop double signups around 5:30pm or so as I said last night. I have a very important job to help with.
I have to run over to Hooters and Outback arouund 4pm for a little while if someone could watch the Thunder for me. I'll bring you a wing back.
Back to work...

Nah, I had too much fun in San Saba. My arm was hurting most of the final day, just didn't know how bad I had hurt it until I tried to play the next weekend. It feels much better now, but I can still tell that something is not right, better to let it heal fully before getting back out instead of extending the healing time.

Gary - it appears that the played event totals are wrong for the overall standing in divisions (atleast in MA1 and MA2)..nobody shows they have played 3 events, but when you click on a players details it does show that some of them have already played 3 events - don't know if you can fix this or Chris - just a little FYI
:o
Who'd a thunk it?
As many "almosts" and "dam nears" as I had today, I can't call my venture into the MA1 division an unqualified success.
What I can say is that everyone I played with in my last two times to play this division (both at Live Oak, GDS and ZLT10), were a ball to play with. I will say to those Rec and Intermediate players who wonder what to expect when thinking about stepping up to MA1, fear the level of competition if you must, but don't fear a perceived lack of fun with the guys that make up this division. Its a great balance of fun AND focus on good golf. I like it. :)
Congrats to Gary Collier, a he11 of a nice guy and a dam fine golfer. Your 2nd round Gary was very inspiring as you played solid and consistent golf, putting with great confidence when opportunities arose for birdies and never getting so upset by a shot that wasn't where you wanted it that you failed to focus on rescuing yourself. Even from the shorts on the back course, which is certainly the tougher of the two courses, an -8 with zero bogeys was a freakin' smoking round. I'm glad I was on the card to see it. Now move to Texas so we can see you on the course more often! :)
Hope everybody got a kick outta hearing my name called in Advanced at a ZLT10. I know I did. :)
Great job as always mate, and congrats on a fine turnout under conditions that no doubt scared a few folks off (pansies). You're perfect weather streak may have only lasted 3 1/2 years, but your streak of great events goes on with no end in sight. :)

You're perfect weather streak may have only lasted 3 1/2 years,
Hey now...it may have rained on the day of the event, but it wasn't actually raining while we played, and if the storm was just a little quicker, we'd have started on time and not have to play during the rain. I'd say technically the streak is alive; just a little delay this time. Maybe that will bring us luck in the future. Great time guys, I was impressed by the Live Oak course. Put in the last 4 for a full 36, and I'll definitely stop by again, if not for more than the 2005 ZLT10 stop. Congrats to all winners, including Blake in MA2. That's back-to-back man, hopefully I can break that streak in Wimberley!

OMG Chris, don't whine. Sheesh. It was a tourney decision made for the best interests of an ENTIRE field with a late start in adverse conditions. If that kind of thing, which is out of the TD's hands, happens sometimes, are you really gonna take your toys and go home? C'mon dude.
Besides, if you'd have played the way you're capable of, you could've gotten more than your money back. :)

You could have asked me anytime and I would have given your money back. If you want to complain do it to me. I made the decision and I will explain and deal with it. I spoke to you at lunch and you said you were fine with it and understood my decisions so don't try to make it look like you never had a chance to talk to me.
I had a difficult decision to make and I did what I thought was best for ALL the players not just you (big arm). When you run a tournament with 150 players and have the decisions I have to make every minute of the day then I will accept those. As things turned out we finished on time. If the long boxes were played it would have been very close to dark. The weather improved which was fantastic, if it had not you would still be playing.
Sometimes hard decisions have to be made and not all of them we please everyone and I am sorry for that but I do my best with what I am given.
See you in Wimberley on the long boxes.

I have a game, this weekend it didn't show. No big deal, analyze, correct, and move on.
I also have respect for TD's and understand that conditions can dictate changing layouts (and I wanted to play the long boxes as much as anyone else). Himing doesn't run these for Open division golfers only. He runs them for all disc golfers, and the numbers he can get at the ZT-10 events prove that the idea works.
You want Open-catered events, go join the NT.

Turns out, I ate breakfast, took a nap in the truck during our delay, woke up , rain gone, I felt better, I played, and I had a great time. I think Chris made a gr8 decision to shorten the boxes. And I think I could probably out drive seewhere. and I still had a great tourney given all these set backs. Gr8 shooting Gary Collier. Good morning everyone,
What a weekend! Thanks to all 148 players for trusting me with my positive outlook on the weather. I got to the course at 4:30am to clear skies, humidity in the air and no wind, I thought I had got lucky. At 5:30am the temperature plummetted and the wind howled. This was going to be an interesting day.
We held the 8:30am players meeting on time and the decision was made to meet back at 9:30am to see how the weather was.
The culvert by then had burst it's banks and created a lot of water on a few holes. I changed the course up to loose Hole 16 on the Back 18 and Hole 28 on the Front 18. That would elimnate a long walk around the water.
By 10:20am all groups were out playing and the rain was gone. The wind was still howling and did not seem to be letting up. I made the tough decision to have everyone play from the short tees. You can read more about that on the previous posts.
Outback Steakhouse served a great lunch for everyone. The Red Bull girls showed and still no rain. The wind was another story.
The second rounds finished around 5pm and with perfect timing the Hooters Girls arrived with 500 wings. I think we set a record for how quickly 500 wings can get eaten.
With the small pavillion housing the meetings, food, drink I didn't have a chance to setup the PA system and music.
I just realized why the 2 Ziegen Bock kegs got finished so quick, we had 20 ounce cups instead of the usual 12 ounce. I hope everyone had enough beer?
The Hooters Girls helped out with the raffle. Brian Foster won the Innova DISCatcher and Joe Minella the Hotel stay. I think a couple of the girls won the Ziegen Bock Disc Clocks.
After it was all over the rain had not touched us after the that huge hit early in the day. 148 players had a great time as did I and my staff. Special thanks again to Jason and Ginetta Chamberlain for driving from Dallas to work. Laura Karshis for being the beer girl and to all the locals in Live Oak for there support and help with the course.
A huge thank you to the City of Live Oak!
The rain affected badly my plans for our new sponsor advertising tool but I did get a couple of photo's before they got washed away. With the expertise of Bill and Jimbob Karshis over the last few weeks designed and developed how to spray paint our sponsor logo's on the fairways. Go to the gallery on the website to see the Hooters logo on Hole 10. Look for more of these as we improve the process.
The night activities were a blast. Outback treated us like VIP's, I had a plateful of shrimp off the barbie and the owner was very happy.
I then had to head over to Hooters for more meetings. As you can see from the photo's on the website it was hard work. I want to thank my 2 un-named helpers that night (one is married). Thanks to Hooters for taking care of us. Look for more involvement with Hooters in the future.
At 1am I was dragged off to some locals house to play pool. They were all there to try and take me down after the last whipping I gave everyone. They had some luck but I am still the King of Live Oak Pool.
Thanks to Gary Duke for having the scores online around 9pm and before I had even headed off to dinner. Your the best. Hope your arm heals and we see you in Wimberley on May 22.
Upcoming Events:
May 22 - ZT10 Wimberley
June 19 - ZT10 Arlington
June 5,6 - Lewisville Marathon
Check out all the scores from the weekend on the website. Also make sure you look at the fun we had at Hooters that night.

The over riding call was "all divisions play short tees". The rules sheet and signs were made well before the event. If this was not clear and people played the long tee then you are all DQ'ed and I keep the money :)
Any other curious questions I would be happy to answer but for now I am off to the airport.

Chris, right before we teed off for the 2nd round, you told Turbo and I to play the long #6 and long "A" on the front. I had asked if 6 was players choice as it is at most tourneys, and you said play the long position. I hope all open players did that. All the groups I saw played it long.

Mark aka Division Hopper is scared of Wimberley. Double digit losses are a common factor and PPS is a strong force there.
Wimberley info will be up on the web soon. Signups are on www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) as usual.

You know dat ain't right, Papa One-Eye C. Love. The Right Rev. knows those two courses as well or better than anyone in any division I might play. I'm hating not being there. Its making me sick that I have to miss it. Miss the ZLT10 that I've been most looking forward to all year, or get disowned by my family? Hmmm...tempting, I'll admit, but I'd better go to my nephew's wedding in case I need them in my old age. :)

Kid don't listen to Nathan he drives like a donkey. Wimberley is 40 minutes SW of Austin so it's not that far at all. South on IH-35 all the way to Austin then SW for 40 minutes, easy.

i think wimberley is a little less than 4 hours from dallas, neglecting traffic and/or excessive food/gas/restroom stops. that's going near the speed limit, so you could shave some time off of that going 80-85mph the whole way, if needed.

On May 1st our 4 year rain free record was interrupted by a 90 minute delay to the event by severe thunder and lightning storms. Despite this delay to the start of the event we enjoyed a full days play and had a great time. 148 players were treated to and enjoyed two beautiful courses in Live Oak, Outback Steakhouse for lunch and Hooters Wings for an after event snack. Texas 10 is going strong and keeps moving forward in event management. Click here for event scores http://www.texas10tour.com/results.php
A disc golf first was introduced in Live Oak. Spray painted sponsor logo's on the fairways. The wet weather Saturday morning didn't help but we learnt a lot and will be fine tuning the process for upcoming events. Click here for photo's of the painted logo's. http://www.texas10tour.com/gallery-liveoak.htm If you would like like your event sponsors advertised this way please let me know and we can work out the details.
Upcoming Ziegen Light Texas 10 Events:
May 22 - Wimberley, Circle R Ranch
June 19 - Arlington, Veterans Park (using 36 holes at Veteran's including the original front 9)
Texas 10 returns to the Circle R Ranch in Wimberley on May 22nd. Come to Wimberley and enjoy these two great courses. Full event details are located at http://www.texas10tour.com/wimberley.htm Pick your own partner, flex start doubles will be held from 2pm to 5:30pm Friday.
Texas 10 also returns to Veterans Park in Arlington on June 19. This time we will hold all 36 holes in the park. This will comprise of the original front 9 holes plus 9 new holes designed by Jason Chamberlain. This event will be special as the State Marketing Manager of Anheuser-Busch will be in attendance to see what we do. Don't miss this event, trust me.
Enter both these events along with all other ZT10 events at http://www.titledisc.com To see who is entered for each of the years events just click on http://www.texas10tour.com/results.php and choose which event you want to view.
Having driven to Wimberly numerous times, at both the speed limit and 100 MPH, I think I can provide a good estimate. An I live in Carrollton, which is 13 miles north of downtown Dallas. If you take the 281 route (67 from downtown to 281 in Hico), it's a guaranteed 4 and 1/2 hours at 70 MPH. If you take 35 to 290, it can, under ideal conditions, be about 3:45 to 4 hours. But if you hit construction, the inevitable accident, or rush hour in either Dallas, Waco, or Austin, it can be a frustrating 4 and 1/2 hours. I recommend the 281 route. Better scenery, a steady pace, better places to eat along the way. Just drive the speed limit through the few little towns along the way and enforcement is not an issue. Also, having gone the 35 route doing 100 - 110 MPH, we only arrived 20 minutes ahead of the people who left at the same time and did the speed limit, stopped for beer, etc. and they were a lot more relaxed. Relax, enjoy the hill country scenery, and plan on 4 and 1/2 and you won't be disappointed (which by the way, it the time estimated on Mapquest). Plan on spending Sunday in the Wimberly area. Bring a significant other .Swim at Blanco State Park, 10 minutes from the course and one of Texas best kept secrets. If you go to Blanco to buy beer, the state park is across the street from the grocey store,

never been there, just guessing.
Anybody who would drive 4+ hours to play any course, should definitely come to play this one.
The Rolling Meadows, in my humble opinion (okay, so its not that humble, bite me), is Houck's Masterpiece. No matter how many great courses go in the ground in this state full of great courses, including San Saba, none can oust this one from the top 2. Yes, the courses in San Saba are indeed beautiful, but the combination of shots, length and the broken in factor that is often missing from "ranch style" courses that get less play, make this one place that is a definite must play.
The Circ Hill course is also great, and is a good compliment to Rolling Meadows.
I'm so ticked about not being able to play this event that I'm thinking being disowned by the family might be worth it. :)
