Hi Dixon! Appreciate this!

I thought that my original post was phrased in a nice way using common courtesy. Attacking me, my profession and especially my faith seems a little mis-directed and far reaching. If my comments are causing you stress please disregard them. I was posting from the point of view of a person who is not up to date with all of the community surrounding these events. I was simply seeking information about the upcoming event and I only had about 10 minutes to find it. I love the fact that disc golf has brought you guys together and true friendship has followed. I was making a request, please ignore it if it is going to cause division.

Gday Everyone,

Firstly to all my American friends, Happy 4th of July. I hope you all have a great weekend.

A lot has been happening in the disc golf scene in the last month and a lot more will be happening in the coming months. On Tuesday morning I will send out another email announcing a beautiful new range of full color discs exclusive to myself. A lot of work has gone into these discs and I am sure will be hot sellers all over the country. These beautiful collectors discs will be availablewell you will just have to wait until Tuesday.

In this email you will find info about:

ZT10 Waco
USDGC Qualifier
ZT10 Victoria
ZT10 Dallas
Corpus Christi Event
Oklahoma Update?
ZT10 Finals News
24 Hour Marathon
Tour de France

ZT10 Waco:
With a week to go before the event we are just over half full. I will say this once more for those that dont understand the benefit of entering early. The last two ZT10 events have filled and I have turned people away. In the first five ZT10 events this year we are averaging 173 players per event! If you want to signup do it as soon as possible. I will not be able to accept phone payments this week so www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) is your answer. If you cant do it have a friend do it for you, its that simple. One more thing, dont believe the event is full, almost full or whatever other rumors you hear unless it comes from an email from me or my mouth. I will keep everyone up to date of everything important.

Players meeting in Waco will be at 8:30am sharp at the Hole 5 area of the Cameron East course. Thats the same place as we setup last year.

We will not have food available for lunch as it will be hot and people have plenty of close choices to eat close to the course with air conditioning. We will however have lots of cold drinks available.

Also we do not have a hotel deal as Waco is notorious for George Bush making an appearance and forcing prices up. The best and cheapest way to find a room in Waco is to go to your favorite online site and get an internet rate. I have heard Motel 6 is around $45 per night and its very close to the course.

USDGC Qualifier:
On Sunday after Texas 10 in Waco be ready to play the Beast as you never had before and in the process try to earn yourself a very coveted invitation to the 2004 USDGC in South Carolina. Click on www.lsdga.com (http://www.lsdga.com) for all the details or see Gary Duke in Waco.

ZT10 Victoria, July 31:
This event will be a lot of fun. Everybody keeps wanting a summer event in Victoria so we did it. A second temp course has been designed so we can play two 18 courses in the same park. Lots of details soon but we will have a hotel deal with La Quinta and catered lunch from Chilis. Also a Saturday night players party at Chilis. Camping is allowed in the park if you want.

ZT10 Dallas, August 21:
This years Dallas event will be in a brand new location. We will set up 2 new temporary courses at Flag Pole Hill. Thanks to Dirk Snow we have permission to play both these courses that sometime soon should become permanent. Dont miss your chance to play these two great new courses.

Corpus Christi Event, September 4-5:
The Coastal Clash is on again and this year we have big news. The event will be sponsored by Joes Crab Shack and Miller Lite Beer. The event will be a 2 day, 3 round and final 9, PDGA B-tier with at least $500 added to Pros and player packs to all Ams. Joes Crab Shack will be catering for us at the course both days as well as providing a private party location on Saturday night with a live band overlooking Corpus harbor. The Miller Lite girls will be there on Sunday for the final 9 and trophy presentations. This is the long weekend which makes it a perfect weekend to head to the coast with the family. We have a hotel deal with the Ramada Limited for just $39.95 per night, not bad for a long weekend in a beach town! Put this event on your schedule and I will let you know more news soon.

Oklahoma Update?:
Thats right I went north across the Red River last week to setup a big event scheduled for October 2-3, in Oklahoma City. In partnership with Twisted Flyers the Thunder will test the waters in Oklahoma. We already have a major new beer sponsor, restaurant sponsor and lots more planned. So all you Texans join me and head north that weekend to take some of that Okie money :) Lots more news soon.

ZT10 Finals News:
In the next week I will close of entries for the final on Titledisc. This does not mean the event is full just that I want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to enter. Online entries will re-open on October 1st. Make sure you get your chance at the USAutomatic $25,000 Hole in One.

24 Hour Charity Marathon:
Things are great around the country with those nocturnally inclined. Over 35 cities around the country are participating and raising lots of money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Click on www.discgolfersforcancer.com (http://www.discgolfersforcancer.com) for all the updates.

Tour de France:
Lances quest for 6 started today and we all wish him well. Over the next 3 weeks history could be made. You can watch all the action on the OLN Network or click on www.olntv.com (http://www.olntv.com) The latest news is Lances engagement to singer Sheryl Crow. I will be sure to wish her the best when I meet her in October while riding with Lance :D

That should cover things for now. Keep an eye (as I always do) on the PDGA Discussion page for any up to the minute news. www.pdga.com (http://www.pdga.com)

Have a great weekend, have fun reading the Tuesday email, and I will see you all on the course very soon. Dont forgetPLAY DISC GOLF FIGHT CANCER!

Yours in Flight,
Chris

BTW, for those of you looking for a Hotel for this weekend's Waco stop, I believe there are still some rooms available at the Motel6 Belmeade. This motel is actually closer to the course than the Waco South Motel6, and it's a few bucks cheaper. I paid 37.99 for a queen-size smoking room when i reserved it on the 'net. Look for the "Special Internet Rate."

I am working on the non Titledisc entries later on this evening which includes you Willy. I have about another 15 or 20 to add to that list online. You should think yourself lucky that you are entered :D, there will be a lot of people by Friday that will not be.

I almost forgot we will be having a raffle on Saturday. I have an Innova DISCatcher Sport basket, Lance Armstrong posters, a 1st run CE Valk and a few hotel vouchers.

By the way Josh OLN is the station that is showing the Tour de France so yes it's important to know if they have it in the hotels.

Back later.

Willy, I'm sure you haven't forgotten what the OMB division was like back when Big Bird, John Green, Geesa, etc. were playing in it. You didn't have any trouble then. Oh yeah, we're five years older..hehe. :) I'm looking forward to seeing you this weekend.

Jul 06 2004, 06:24 PM
Yes you can pay Friday or Saturday. We will be allowing other players that want to join the fun sign up on Friday and Saturday as well. The sooner the better since I do not want to stay up all night Saturday with the printer.

I am still looking for a couple of things.

We are in need of portable shade. EZ-UPs, canvas car ports etc. The location we are trying to set up as a viewing area is not well shaded.

Despite many efforts and a few false starts, we have not managed to get a committed food provider. If anyone has a large portable grill, and is willing to slave over it (with help I am sure) Sunday and/or Saturday please get in touch with me or Chris.

I am looking for someone to announce players teeing on Hole 1. I would do it, but it would be nice if everyone could understand what was being said. I would ask Chris to do it, but we need to be finished before dark. :D

Gary, I'd be more than happy to do the announcements. Since it will be early starting I promise that I won't slur too much :D. If not then Ginetta will be there and she won't even need a mic for everyone to hear her .

ozdisc
Jul 06 2004, 08:15 PM
Now that was funny :D I know Ginetta is home with you so she must be away from the computer.

Now for the serious bit...please make sure you enter the Sunday event with Gary as early as you can. This does not mean Sunday morning! I know the work Gary is putting into this and the little player perks everyone will get. If you enter late not only will it make Gary's night a sleepless one but you won't get those little perks.

Gary will be at the course Friday doing doubles which would be the perfect time to enter and ask all the questions you want from him.

Saturday night we all party at Crickets. I lost 2 games of pool to Danielle last week so need revenge :D We need to play with Aussie Rules! The rest of you guys can line up to challenge me :p

ozdisc
Jul 06 2004, 11:16 PM
The player list is updated online at http://www.texas10tour.com/results.php

If you have entered and do not see your name do not go crazy, just email me and let me know the details. If you entered today or tonight on Titledisc I do not have your entry yet but should have it updated by late tomorrow night.

We currently have 131 registered players!

Tour de France update: An Aussie leads the tour :D Lance will win but for today an Aussie is on top of the world ;)

Thanks

BTW, Chris I know OLN carries the tour. I was trying to make a joke. That's why I "ducked" when I wrote it. Anyway, the Motel6 does raise their rates on the weekend, and the rate I posted IS the weekend rate. In fact, I may be able to give my reservation to someone since we just realized that nobody can watch our dog while we're gone. If we stay in Waco Friday night, that's a bit long for her to hang out in the back yard by herself :). Of course, Chris could watch her during the rounds... she IS an Australian dog, after all :D All kidding aside, is anyone interested in taking the reservation? It's only for Friday night, and I can get my money back, I'd just rather see the cheap room go to another golfer rather than back into the rotation. PM me if interested

Bring the dog, but only if it's Australian. I am sure it would welcome a real voice to listen to :D

I booked the Motel 6 at $44 so Josh's rate is cheap if anyone needs it.

baldguy
Jul 07 2004, 12:34 AM
she is 1/2 Blue Heeler and 1/2 Kelpie. Both Australian dogs. She's a very high-energy dog, and a frisbee nut to boot. If you really want to watch her during the rounds, I'll take you up on the offer. I'll bring her crate so you can put her up if necessary. I'll bring her nylabone frisbee too :) Motel6 accepts pets, so I guess as long as you're serious, then we'll keep the room. If you change your mind, please let me know by 6pm on Thursday so i can get a refund on the room. :D Either way, we'll still be there by 8:00am on Saturday

[edit:] by the way, be sure you're checking the Motel6 Belmeade, not Waco. They're always a bit cheaper than the Waco one, and actually a little closer to the courses. I think about 2mi. north on 35 from the MLK exit, and they're right on the freeway. I know it takes about 7 minutes to get to the course in the morning

Beware of the killer roo on Hole 11. It must be hungry. At least there are no dingoes around.

The silence from Atwood is deafening, my bet is he is out practicing, or maybe just out buying bandages for all the blood loss of getting beaten all over the course!

You do, of course, realize that you are all entitled to kiss my arse, yes?

My silence is because I'm actually doing stuff today. It happens, you know.

Bill, no prob, just make it easy on yourself.

Josh and Adam, please make sure you ice my beer down. I hate hot beer in the summertime.

Martin, stop being a troublemaker or I'll have to come after you too. Come to think of it, how did we finish in the last ZT10 we played together? My memory is a bit cloudy, could you refresh it for me and the good readers of the thread? Please?

Jul 07 2004, 01:39 PM
BTW, Lance is wearing the yellow jersey now! Little early for him, typically, but maybe its a sign of great things to come.

At least its not on that Aussie anymore. :)

The Waco event now has 157 players. I expect that those people that are paying via Titledisc today will fill the field by the time I get home tonight.

Whoever picked Wednesday night for shut down is looking good right now. I did not keep track on peoples guesses so have no clue who those people are. I will let you know the exact time I close things down. :)

Anyone want a 4am wake up call?

Time to do an all nighter!

USDGC Hole 18. It was the perfect anhyzer that landed high right on the fairway short of the OB. 2nd shot low mid range. 3rd shot 25 foot downhill putt with serious drop off behind. Made the putt for a great 3. Finished the round with a 1004 rating. The next round was a little different :D

For those people that are planning playing the USDGC qualifier on Sunday look at this hole. If you go to the event it will be there waiting to eat you up and spit you out.

Simple the best event on the best course. If you have a chance to play, just do it! (I have legal permission to use that line).

Speaking of divisions...I will be having a word to several players this weekend about moving up to the next division. Winning or placing in the top few at multiple events with these huge fields means you are playing well and need to move up. Does anyone want me to name names? :D

Adam you never did translate my phone voicemail message. I can't understand why some people don't understand my message? Please help :p

Thanks

No need mate; they know who they are...just as we ALL know who they are.

But I think it's a **** good idea. Since these tourney's are not PDGA sanctioned, a lot of non-PDGA players end up playing (players without ratings or outdated ratings). And there's no other enforceable way to get these guys to do the right thing and move up. So, yeah, as TD I'd like to see you strong-arm some of these plastic thieves.

Nah...I doubt it. I've only played one TX10 so far this year, and merely tied for 7th. And after my second to DFL experience two weekends ago at Conroe, I'd say I'm probably closer to moving down than up. (Just kidding, of course...in fact, conversely, I decided to move up to Advanced for our weekley mini at Pease Park, and tied for 2nd place, one stroke off the lead). Golf is a wierd, wierd, sport.

Don't know official results. What is a Nolan and Pepper were tied at -11 after regular Cameron. Lot's of people at -7 or better. Then East. The Giggler tore it up at -3 and most other good scores were a couple over. El Chile was leading Masters with someone else. Courses looked great as usual. I had a great time other than those couple of holes on East when I cried like a Pro. :D

Hey Joey, you've got a PM next time you check in.

Waco was a blast everyone! I shouldn't have thrown the Beast as a warm up before we started--it set the tone for disappointment. I was just gonna warm up with a couple drives, but started 2-2-2 on 5-6-7, so I figured I'd quickly play it all to see if I could shoot close to par. The back nine quickly killed that dream! Hole 10 is the biggest BIT*H ever! I've 3'd it once, never 4'd it, and 5'd it a dozen times or so! Maybe someday...congrats to all winners. Hope to see all in Dallas in August.

Jul 12 2004, 03:13 AM
Cware I was happy to help find your disc. Thanks for the offer of plastic but I rather you come play our course in Temple when you get the chance. I didn't catch any ace runs with all the video I shot but I did get a lot of splash downs and a few decent putts. When I learn all the new software I'll try to burn a dvd so y'all can see your plastic one last time. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Had a great time... Thanks to the Chris and all of the Staff that helped out with water, spotting, payout and anything else I can't think of. From what I could see the event went off with out any problems, and with 180+ that can be difficult, great job guys... I was able to party with a lot of old friends I have not seen for a while, I beat most of them too :DI finally pulled my head out for a round, too bad I had to follow it with such a sh*tty one  Either way, still had a great time with all of the people I played with. What's the matter.....you can't spell F A H R E N H I E T Fling  Thanks for sponsoring the TX10 this year and for providing the Thunder with Twisted Flyer gear. We actually had a guy who wasn't playing in the TX10 buy a hat to give to his brother-in-law and there was a great story behind it. His brother-in-law had to have multiple surgeries due to the fact that an F4 twister put a 1" x 4" through his shoulder /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif, he started playing disc golf to help him rehab it and got a couple of people in the family involved as a result and they thought your hat with the Twisted Flyer logo was a perfect thing to give to him :D:D I just thought you would enjoy that.

As always I enjoyed the TX10....even if I didn't get to play. Several people asked me(as I am sure they did Ginetta) if we get tired of always working events and not being able to play. The fact that we can watch 180+++ people be able to go out and enjoy themselves, combined with all of the thanks we get, makes it all worth while. Can't wait to se everyone in Victoria!!!
