Just wanted to keep you all informed. Dave's Mom died Monday sometime. If I get any more info I will pass it on. By the way, my back is getting better. I still have trouble getting up and moving. I don't know how long I will be out, but I hope it isn't too much longer. I sure miss playing with all you good people.

Rich, I agree, no need to cancel Saturday's mini on account of Gonzales. Most of the Saturday players don't make the Sunday mini or the Gonzales mini anyway. Please give the players the option of going out of town or staying and playing LIVE OAK!

21 players braved the Round Rock like winds at Universal City on Sunday. 4 players tie for first at -1... RT Evans, Beastmaster Rex, Smokin Joe Torres and Keith Baker. After a playoff, RT - 4th, Baker - 3rd, Joe and Beastmaster split the difference cuz we were hungry, and really with two such awesome players, the playoff could have gone on forever :D Steve Anderson continues his domination of the amateur division with another win in singles and doubles.

The $400 ace pot is still intact, and the Sunday doubles ace pot is up to $239.

Come on out to Gonzales this Saturday for a singles mini and a doubles mini directly after. Tee off 10am.

This Wednesday's pro/am doubles league will be held at Live Oak - sign up by 5:45pm. Reminder... you must play in at least 10 league events out of 30 to qualify for the ace pot CTP (if necessary). I estimate the final ace pot tally to be $1,800+, to be split evenly by all aces at the conclusion of the league, or we'll CTP it for a 50/30/20 split of the $$!

And any one who is out north 281 this course in Burnet is a MUST stop and PLAY course. At this moment it's a 9 hole but real soon to be a 18. It a 9 hole but plays real well, a couple of long holes, a couple that play longer than they look ( for me anyway ).
I guess a good way to say it would be it's a good little winding course around a little river, some realy killer looks at the basket. most of the baskets are protected with trees and a few are open for aces. And look out for the river, it's deep and unforgiving, and loves to eat disc, If you throw them right you will be good, if you shank one, Bye Bye disc.
All in all it was a great time, and Thank Mark for showing us around, and playing with us.If I was not so hung over I would have whooped you. Mark hit like 4 big put in a row guys yes I said 4. a new course record for Mark.

Well, we set a new attendance record with 37 players at last night's pro/am doubles league in Live Oak! Thanks for supporting the Live Oak Disc Golf Alliance! Mark Vargas and Jim Bob Karshis set the new 2004 league course record for the front format at Live Oak at -12.

6 new players came out and each received a 5 point bonus for entering their first mini... thanks for coming out!

The first League Ace was hit by Eddie Efsic... hole 6 with a dragon! Eddie is now guaranteed a share of the final league ace pot total, which should be close to $2,000 at the end of the 30 week league. It pays to play!

Due to an incorrect card being turned in, the pro payout was wrong last night, and is now correctly reflected on my website. I will credit those I owe, and debit the player I paid in error.

I am doing some better. Thanks for asking. I still have some pain when I make certain movements. I tried putting last night to see if it hurt or if it would stiffen up. It seemed to do okay. I am a little hesitant about trying any drives just yet. Hope to get back soon. I really miss it. Sitting at the picnic table yesterday and watching the players warm up was difficult. I had to leave before I did something I knew I would regret later.
By the way, I still got my touch on my putting, so you ams be aware when I get back. :D

how's the course looking this AM?

Live Oak has 32 holes just because it rains doesnt mean golfers should be scared of coming out to play. Yes, if you have wet sox wear them, and it wouldn't hurt to bring an extra towel, but the course drains fast and all the back holes are usually fine to play. I know I'm a little late on this post , but from reading earlier posts people sound as if the course is scary full of water.
So Live oak is fine to play even after a big rain just don't play the front holes! :D

I can't make the meetings but I can help on supplying paper work on the benefits of charity involvement etc. I have a very good letter from Live Oak saying how good disc golf is, I use it for other cities if they question me. Let me know Dave. I will bring what I can tomorrow night.

It couldn't hurt to have a disc golf presence at some of these meetings, but Dave Tayloe and I have sweated blood trying to get the City of SA to do ANYTHING with disc golf for years. Soccer and football rules.

Doubles is $10 per player either Pro, Advanced or Am. Nothing too strange on that. However I will be closing doubles between 5:30 to 6pm so I can get an important job done in the park. Cards will be collected on Saturday morning and paid out then.

I am on the way out for the morning so if there are any questions please ask on the ZT10 thread and I will see them later today.

Sorry I couldn't play doubles last night but it will be worth it come Saturday.

The Live Oak Disc Golf Alliance Wednesday Night Pro/Am Doubles League results for week 4 of 30 are in. 34 players play in warm, cloudy and windy weather. Tracy Olson and his partner Jacob Sisson break the UC temp format record with a blistering 10 under par. They received an additional $10 each for breaking the course record. We are averaging 34 players per mini! Thanks for supporting disc golf in South Texas.

Week 5 will be back at Live Oak on Wednesday, May 5. Don't forget the Texas 10 on Saturday, May 1 at Live Oak.

Members of the LODGA met with the public works director, a city council person and the owner of the private property yesterday to discuss the addition of five to six new holes to replace the holes removed from Red Horse park.

The meeting was very successful, and we have a handshake agreement to put in the new holes. Now we are just waiting for all the legal stuff to get done, as the city enters into an agreement with the property owner.

The property encompasses 50 acres past Hole 12. We will utilize about a third of the property. We will need volunteers to do all the clearing when the time comes. Disc Golfers will clear the way, and UC will put in tee boxes, signs, baskets and benches for us. UC will also maintain the holes by keeping them mowed, trimmed, etc.

Hopefully we can start in June or July! It will take a month or two to clear the holes, so we could be playing them by early fall.
