Well thing went well in Austin for the Capitol of Texas Open, three people went to represent Live Oak and all of them placed Mark Vargas won second in Adv., Jimbo Yount won second in Rec and I won 5th in rec. Way to go Mark and Jimbo :D

Dave and Jim, did you get your payouts for the tournament?

Mark was going to pick them up for us. We talked to Ray before we left and he said it would be okay. Thanks for asking Lou. I also want to thank Mark for helping me on the second round on Saturday by carrying my bag and some good advice. It was deffinately a relief not to have to carry it the whole time. It was a great weekend and a very interesting course. Thanks to everyone that helped put it on.

Santa Cruz is beautiful, the weather was incredible, and the course is long and tough! I had a string of bad luck the first two days, and took some 6's and 5's when I was putting for 3's or 2's. You can roll several hundred feet if you miss a putt! I played much better Sunday, and really enjoyed my time there! Had drinks with Vinnie and Chile at the Lodge at Pebble Beach, now that's the life!

Maybe you need to watch the replay. You can see the clock start and then look at Derrick and he has already caught the ball and started to turn before the clock was started. He had a good full second to shoot. Duncan's shot, lucky or not was still made within the playing time and didn't need a late starting clock to make it good. See you next year. :)

Cong, I am FULLY aware and am in complete agreeance w/ the importance for common courtesy on the course, you however, are not aware of the specific instance and how completely blown out of proportion this has become. Unfortunately, I feel a need to justify your generic stamp of a statement to what exactly transpired.
So here goes:
My partner and I were discussing QUIETLY what we felt our next shot should be. It just so happened that at that same moment, said thrower was attempting an APPROACH shot approximately 80-100 ft away from our location. Immediately following his attempt, which by the way did NOT go arye, he then condemningly blurted out "I heard you when I was throwing!" In no way was it our intention to disrupt his concentration. I certainly wasn't crouched behind him yelling booga-booga-booga in hopes that it would cause him to miss-fire. He and his partner shot a terrific round and I couldn't have been more happy for them. So when we received what at the time seemed over-the-top and almost a verbal finger-wagging blame for it not going in, I was disappointed with the reaction.
I partake in the weekly mini's for the sheer enjoyment of playing with people that share the same passion for the sport as I do. I do feel however that some people take themselves and their game a little too seriously, when in fact they should realize that it is just a GAME and we are all just out there to have fun.
This was not a heated battle of divisional rivals going down to the wire trying to win the PDGA World Championship. This was just a casual round amongst friends that simply got carried away. In the esteemed words of one A. Iverson, "ya'll gettin' mad about PRACTICE".

Yah, you do seem to miss us pretty often. Everytime we're out playing, you're not their, and vice versa. I've been working from 10am to 7 - 9 pm, so I'm not able to play weekdays anymore. I was out there two days this past weekend though, and didn't see anybody but Blake and Calvin. John has to get a job soon too, and he's widdled his bag down from like 15 disc to 4. ;) Anyways, I miss getting out and playing daily alot, and my new job is dreadful, but I'll get by. You guys have fun.


P.S - Bill, John told me something about mill. or Innova sponsoring Randall. That would be rad.

If you mean me Bill I will be going to Lewisville (DFW) for the 24 Hour Marathon this weekend. I leave here Thursday.

I am working on getting Randall some shirts etc that would fit him for Worlds. Down Under Disc Golf and Texas 10 are proud to support him on his 1st trip to Worlds. I travelled from Australia to Sweden, England and Finland when I was just 16 to compete so I know what he is feeling.

Just please stop him throwing that two finger roller, his backhand air shot will always work better than that. Maybe I should give him that Pro Line Orc he enjoyed throwing.

Bill, Randall has one of the smoothest upshots I've ever witnessed from someone his age. Teach him that distance comes with technique...and he doesn't have to have a big arm to play par. Your kid is an inspiration, going out to compete with us, and on some occasions even spanking our asses. Tell him I said good luck, and if he ever wants to play, it's always a blast to have him on the card. Peace out guys.

Thanks to all the ladies that came out and braved the heat last night. Crista Bailey, Laura Karshis, Jennifer Morales, and Micheala Steele played in very hot conditions. Micheala brought our new LOLO tags and we had our first bag tag challenge. Micheala won the CTP prize donated by Chris Himing. Yah Nelle, I finally got a new job, and lemme tell ya, it's devastating my social life. My boss has me coming in at 10 am and I'm usually not leaving till 7 pm. I left last night at 9:30 Doesn't look good for me :(

Oh he is going to play, at least one more time this year. He's playing the LOSO! He is also running some smack about putting a whooping on the rest of the Open field. Who know's he just might. He would've last year if only I hadn't made him play one certain hole. :D

Nelle, I am off Friday, thanks to the President and I would like to get up there in time to play the courses some since I haven't seen them before. Have not really set a time yet, but probably some time before lunch or around lunch time.
