Hole # 23A . To Mando or Not to Mando?
I think that a mando on hole 23A. Would make it a better hole, Anyone can throw a hyzer around the tree's(except for atwood and pelman :D. The mando will force players to play the fairway and increase the difficulty of the hole.

23A is one of the new holes recently added! After the long hike up the hill #23! Yo Martin! Was Happening!
It is a new hole that plays hyzer over the street or a low tunnel slight anhyzer shot. Lenght about 245ft. it is after hole 23. Walk to the right toward the street. It was a temp hole for last years Tx10.

Man!!
I had a great day at UC today. Shot two under, minus 5,6,7,8,9.
Came back around and shot +3 the second time, and then shot E on the 3rd go around.
They really need to add some holes soon, cause 5-9 were absolutely necessary.
Well looks like RT took back the # 1 tag.
well done RT , and Mark I'm sure it took everthing he had to get it. That #1 tag has had more partners this week then Marka misssed putts. ( on any given hole )
Wel I ask for it so, I'm ready for an a** woooooppppp'n

As RT has eluded to, the concrete is curing nicely and would like to see if anyone would be interested in helping out with the basket installs either Thurs. or Friday afternoon. Let me know.. Once the baskets are up, as always, we will need your "constructive" PROFESSIONAL opinions of these holes. Our ears are open to suggestions...

I think I can shed a little light on this for ya. See, the pressure of having to back up all his smack is already starting to take its toll on Mr. Vargas (although I didn't think it would happen quite this soon). He doesn't have his mind truly on his game right now, because he's running scared from Team E and wondering just what he's gotten himself into.
For his sake, I'd like to see him just put all that on the back burner until its time (of course, he'll crumble at the challenge, but that can't be helped).
I want to see him hold on to the #1 tag long enough to bring it to Waco on that fateful day. It won't leave with him, obviously, but it needs a ride up there.
I'll see all you Live Oakers on Saturday.
Can I get a big, Liiiiiiiivvvvvve Oooooooaaak!
Oh, and Bill, your whoopin's comin', don't worry. I'm bringing it with me. :)

Chris, RT has it for now!. ;) Also Chris looks like Marka comming down to Live Oak, and bringing someone with him to hand out a** woopings, so bring so extra putters for Marka!!. There is wather around 50 ft from some of the baskets and he may overshoot agian and agian and go OB.

Wow, that's a pretty fast fall from grace. I knew all this pressure would get to TR #1b, but I thought it would take a while. Mark, try to hang on to some of your game for a while at least. I mean, you're going down, but I'd hate for it to get embarrassing.
Bill, Jim and Dave, I'm still not sure what division I'm playing Saturday. There's no OMB's (age discrimination sucks! I'm just kidding RT, calm down. :D), so I don't know for sure what I'll do.
There has been a call out for me to play Open, which would be pretty darn funny, but if Pellman can, why can't I? I was also thinking about choosing between Adv. and Int. based on which had the bigger field. Guess I'll wait until Saturday morning to decide.
I'll be bringing an Open ringer with me, so who knows. :)

Hey Marka, I guess great minds think and putt alike. I went over the top also and ended up at the edge of the schule. I also missed the putt.
Will that get me admission into the Back and Forth College of Putting?
I would like to take partial credit for Josh Nix's great 2nd round, in which he brought himself back to tie for first in Adv. before losing a playoff and taking home 2nd place. He told me at our first hole in the afternoon, that seeing his name below mine on the card at the start of the final round was enough to sober him up and give him the focus he needed for such a great afternoon.
Happy to be of service. :)

Definatly have to give some credit to Martyr for the wake up call! I knew I would never hear the end of it, nor would my pride ever recover if he beat me for the tourny. Coupled with the great card we had, I was able to play fairly well...Thanx!
And I too, would like to mention my new found respect for Shawn Low, Nix. Man, that was a spectacular display of simultaneous smack and good golf. Very impressive. Who knew he had it in him?
The 30 week pro/am random draw doubles league will start Wednesday, April 7 at Live Oak City Park at 5:45 pm. Last year we averaged 25 players a week, lets see if we can do better this year! Meet at hole 28 or is it 30 or 32? :D So many holes, so little time! Come support the Live Oak Disc Golf Alliance!
And i understand why you could not play Sat. Brian...I have even refraimed from giving you a hard time about it ( :o) but where were the tags? I guess next time I see you will be in Gonzo??

Hey guys, thanks for the kudos on the course!! They make my DFL performance a little easier to handle. Staff always
appreciate your input and the fact you don't take aim at them while they mow. Congrats to RT for an excellent tournament. Anytime you want to host again, let me know what we can do to help...Several have asked about the new hole numbers. Hey, The Other Joe,
How about that Mando on hole 23A, on the far right side of the first Oak Tree? It makes prople play the fair way, thus adding difficulty to the hole. Which I think it needs. It would also limit the number of discs landing in the street.
True but that's a great sucker shot the way it is. People can go the big hyzer route, but it'll cost 'em. I like it as is, unless safety and the street are concerns for the city.
I'll stick to the fairway either way with a turnover or a flick.
Ya, thats true I have seen many land in the street, including myself 1 time only, but I just feel the hole needs more to really make it a nice hole and a mando would compliment it. I think that making it more technical would make up for its short distance, and make it a funner hole.

What cost them a birdie...oh that's right you don't hyzer. :D
But seriously I do think as the hole is now it does need a mando for the reasons M.Vargas gives.
However as someone on another thread says I should keep out of things as I don't do any of the work so I have no say.
Can't wait to get there tomorrow night to play the first doubles of the year. Are all the locals Pro now for the mini's? Could be an interesting card draw and handicapping.
Thanks
Chris
I think most Adv. locals will play pro.If not they should. You guys know who you are!!!!The same guys who played Adv. at the GDStour on sat.
James, your home course should be demanding to make better golfers of its locals. If you learn to play that low slight anhyzer or flick consistantly it would definatly improve anyones game.I say mando!!!

Mark that is the route that I take, you know that I have a weenie arm, I only wish I could be like you. Mando is fine with me, just rib'n you.
Smartazz. You know what I meant. I saw plenty of folks go for that wide open hyzer route and end up in the street.
But saftey first, true. :)

yes I was disappointed but had to do the family day at the lake house.
Who's up for a round today :D
I like the mando idea, but at the same time, I've parked a Monster on the green before and it sure helped my score alot (being that it was on the back 18) Since I last played the hole casually, though, I've taken (4) quite a few times. I'd rather just three it safely. There isn't a single mando hole on the Live Oak course, is there?
Nelle 18131

Nope, no mando yet. I think it would be a great addition just for the difficulty of it. Why not add it?

Mando whould be Cool!
Vote for a Mando Contest?
Yes here!!!!
I think it would be interesting and an added challenge!
Joe M is left handed anyway, he should have no problem with the Mando! :D:D:D
All good feedback fellas, I also agree on the mando but let's take it one step further to eliminate the left and right hand issue. There is a small ( makeable ) clowns mouth shortly ahead of the box, make us go thru the middle and make us all better players. Please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the exsisting mando something about the short tees? :D Bring on the mando you can't possibly hurt my game, if I had any.

Well every one has a good point. The street is hazardous, but if you have a nice hyzer shot the hole is a breeze. Personally I would like there not to be one, but thats just because its the route I take. But in all honesty there should be a mando to make the hole more challenging, especially with the new hole that should play as a par 2. I also made it out to the course today about 9:30 and its a swamp. if any one goes out later today i put a yellow orc off ten. Dont expect any one to get in, but if the water clears up it might be visible. Ohhh also what time tomorrow do I need to be out there for league and how much $$$$$$$$
Nelle 18131
Apr 06 2004, 02:18 PM
Its starts at 5:45 and it is probably about the same as the UC minis. Maybe $6 or $7.
Mark, on the mando, will it be the last tree to the left we will have to get around? because I like to do a roller, it works sometimes and it goes like where Jimbob said in the clowns mouth. I cant see where the mando would be. I am ok with the mando but want to know what tree I need to get around?I guess I will have to go out there and look. I say clowns mouth .
look out San Saba team K is going to rock in Rec!!!!!! ;)
Yes REC it's the freaking worlds baggers galore!!
Mark, also on the Wednesday deal is it am/pro doubles?
Nelle 18131
Apr 06 2004, 03:11 PM
Yes it is Pro/Am dubs and the mando would be to the left of the first tree on your right when standing at the tee box. Either a flick or annie would get you there. I guess the roller would work also. Go vote on the mando on the thread under courses.
uhoh...
No more Orc for Frosty. Looks like you'll just have to get some max d outta your Rhyno next time we play #15. :D
The Mando should probably be a TD decision. If you guys want Mando on Saturdays, you've got it. I'll let you vote before Saturdays mini starts.

OK Rich! Sounds cool!
How about Mr. Vargas stand's were the mando will be and we can test it OUT! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
A permament mando would be better if you're going to do it. This eliminates confusion, and the TD having to remember to remind everyone all the time. Plus Live Oak could then put it on the tee sign so it is a permanent reminder.
For the record, I don't like mandos unless they are there to protect other players, pedestrians or park structures. It does not seem to be the case on this hole, but if you do it, make it permanent.
If you're trying to eliminate an easy hyzer, then I say eliminate the easy thumber shots on 10 and other holes. Really, the tee box should have been situated as to eliminate the hyzer in the first place. Course design 101.

Beastmaster, what holes are we playing tonight??? We must know, we have to know!!!!! Oh, and good points about the mando.
Does anyone know how the front holes look? Any water or soggy, muddy areas we need to worry about?
Nelle 18131
Apr 07 2004, 11:07 AM
2 and 6-9 are very soggy/covered. All others are fine.
If the water has receded by today, the affected holes may still be water logged. Even with the mulch around the baskets. No. 10 was looking playable this morning.
Thanks Other Joe and Nelle, are the two new holes ready?
So do we actually meet at LO at 5:45, or are we starting at 5:45??
I have a dr.'s appt at 4:45 :(
Sign up by 5:45, no later. Random draws force us to be time sensitive. CTP at 6pm, then tee off.
RT, I will put a flag in front of the tree Sat. morning. I had a conversation with Mr.Painter (AKA God) on Friday about the Mando and he is against it. But just like the concrete being in or out is determined by the TD on any given tournament, the same can be done on 23A. Hope to see you Saturday. I hope to play in tonights mini. That is if I can talk Steph into playing as well.

All concrete in bounds.

I will be there after I make a quick stop at Hooters and Outback
I will have a few Quad backstraps for those people that have asked.
Working on the artwork for the Marathon today. Looking good. Stay tuned for a date in Live Oak for this cool event.
Steph wants to know if Michaela and Laura will be at Live Oak tonight around 5:45 ;)
