Stretching back a little on this thread, but the name ACDC - Alamo City Disc Club has already been used.

When Father Dave Tayloe got things started in S.A., the club name was SADA - San Antonio Disc Association. After he moved away and Keith Baker, John Ince, et.al. took over, the club name changed (or a new club was started) to ACDC. It has been inactive for a while (ever since the Dog Days of Summer tournament stopped running; originally at 7 Oaks and then at LH7).

True Gordo, but that doesn't mean we can't revive it. It really was never an official club. I know, I helped start it, and took it over from Keith /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Jul 17 2003, 02:22 AM
Here are my thoughts on our tag rules, your thoughts please.......

<FONT SIZE=" 2">ACDC Bag Tag Challenge Suggested Rules</FONT>
<UL><LI> Any player may challenge another player with a lower tag <LI> It is called a bag tag for a reason, KEEP IT ON YOUR BAG and readily available for challenges. <LI>I encourage you to make and accept as many challenges as possible. <LI> It is MANDATORY to accept challenges on the card at any organized singles tournament. This includes all club weekly/mini tournaments, as well as one or two day tournaments. It is not required that the tournament be sanctioned. It is not mandatory to accept a challenge from another card, unless there is no tag on your card to challenge, then that player must accept the first side challenge from another card. You are allowed only one side challenge from another card. <LI> All challenges on your card have priority over any side challenges from another card. Example: Tex with #5 &amp; Brian with #14 are on the same card and challenging each other AND Brian has a side challenge with Danielle with #33, who is on another card. Tex shoots a 51, and Brian shoots a 50. Tex loses that challenge and gets the #14 tag. Brian, now #5 can settle his challenge with Danielle. Danielle shoots a 49. So Danielle wins the #5 tag from Brian he now has the # 33 tag. <LI> Challenges during Doubles Rounds are not mandatory, however if the tournament is bring your partner doubles, and all four players have tags, then it is suggested that you accept challenges. <LI> PDGA rules must be followed unless otherwise agreed to by all challenging players</LI>
<FONT SIZE=" 1">Fun Suggested Tag Challenge Rules</FONT>
<UL><LI> This is for casual round challenges. Let the person with the lower tag determine the course format played. Some suggestions: <LI> Match play: you only keep track of who wins the most holes, not a total score. <LI> Bottom of box (BOB) chooses the tee off point for next hole <LI> Play the course backward. <LI> Worst drive singles, both players throw 2 drives and let the opponent pick the one you play. You could also do worst putt where the player has to make two putts from any distance in order for it to count. <LI> Opposite hand challenge, righties throw lefty and vice versa. <LI> On failed challenges the loser has to pay the winner, or donates to the club improvement fund, an agreed upon sum for his trouble. This would work best if it were someway tied to the number difference between tags. IE: #5 challenges #1 and loses and has to pay one dollar per point for a total of four green American dollars for wasting the very valuable time of player #1.</LI>
<FONT SIZE=" 1">The No Runaways Rule</FONT>
<UL><LI> Tag numbers 1-10 MUST BE defended at least 6 times a year, and preferably every month, on either the Live Oak or U.C. course. If the player wanting to challenge you for one of these tags cannot agree to this rule then they ARE NOT eligible to win the tag. <LI> If a person wins one of these tags and then doesnt show back up to defend the tag they will be shamed publicly, forever seen as a tag fizag, and eventually banned from the great State of Texas. Yes, I do have that power!</LI>
Jul 17 2003, 09:58 AM
Seewhere, when do ya want to leave? Is Dana going?Your truck?

Jul 17 2003, 11:32 AM
Thanks Jerald, I'll look at them and get back to you soon. Good work!

Jul 17 2003, 11:32 AM
Jerald that was nice /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif I still like the pink tag idea. Maybe I should start girls tags and if we challenge and guys lose then you have to carry the PINK tag to show everyone that you got beat by a girl. Then you might want to leave TEXAS with the tag fizag.

Jul 17 2003, 11:36 AM
Wednesday pro/am doubles league results are in. A small turnout of 17 said to heck with Hurricane Claudette, we're not skeered of a little wind and rain. And then lo and behold we had sunny skies for the mini! Ruben Campos and his partner Russell Evans shoot 9 under par to take the honors.

Next Wednesday mini at 5:30 July 23 at Live Oak.

Jul 17 2003, 10:17 PM
Hey Jerald, lucky #13 here,( that's rhe perfect # for my game don't ya think ) thanks for the lesson on Wed. After that fiasco of mine I now know why there were no takers on my partner request. Just jokin' I got one. Great job on the tag rules, sounds cool. I thouhgt the #1 tag was pink

Jul 18 2003, 02:23 AM
Danielle we are already looking to see if they have pink tag making material. Way ahead of ya there kiddo.

Jul 21 2003, 12:26 AM
I had some questions asked about the tag rules. . .
<UL><LI>First, will there be some sort of reward or prize tied to the top 10 tags? Well, I would like to do that. I think that it mainly depends on how many are sold. The main reason I wanted to do these is just to liven up the game a bit and give us something else to play for. I think that playing for tags is fun. Raising money for the course is also GREAT. However, if we sell enough and raise enough money to do something like a top 10 payout then I think we should. What will that payout be? Again, it depends on how many are sold. <LI>Second, it was brought to my attention that some people may have misunderstood my optional challenge rules, especially the one where the challenger pays x$ per tag difference for a failed challenge. That IS NOT A MANDATORY RULE AT ALL just a fun option that someone might want to use. In paid singles tournaments this optional thing should NOT BE USED! Tags are on the line there automatically. <LI>I apologize to anyone who showed up Sunday morning and didn't get a tag. Hopefully, we will spread them out some so that this won't happen again.</LI>
Jul 21 2003, 12:05 PM
Universal City Sunday mini results are in. Tracy Olson takes Open with 6 under par, and Chris Jones depletes the ace pot yet again for $38. He hit Hole 8 with a teebird. Anyone who knows the UC course knows that 8 is a VERY hard hole to birdie, yet alone ace.

Wednesday Pro/Am doubles will be held at Live Oak this week. 5:30pm.

Tournament Teaser!

As soon as we can come up with a date in October, a one day Saturday tournament will be held to benefit the Alamo Area Fire and Police Memorial. We will combine the donation from our Wednesday league with the proceeds from the tournament and give one big fat check to them.

Stay tuned as details develop.

So Jimbob you Have bag tag 13 I think I want it, I will have to chanllenge you soon to a Dual TO THE FINISH and have 13 for myself LOL

Jul 21 2003, 03:06 PM
#8's hard to Ace, that's fair enough, but I don't know about "VERY hard hole to birdie." Heck, even I can usually do that. /msgboard/images/clipart/proud.gif

Jul 21 2003, 03:51 PM
If I had played UC more than once, I would be able to chime in a little more on how "spectacular
" a feat it is....

congrats regardless......

Jul 21 2003, 03:56 PM
Mark, #8 is the one across the street in Red Horse Park that plays through huge trees down a hill, over a valley, and then back up a hill where the basket sits perched about 20 feet from OB jogging path. We call it the longest 275' hole you will ever play because it is so hard to reach. I think I have birdied it twice and have played it hundreds of times. Jerald Locke says he has never birdied it, and he's no slouch like me. Ron Russell played it twice and missed it both times. He commented to me later that he would love to figure that hole out! Chris Jones threw a huge booming hyzer over the trees and it hit the tree next to the basket and fell in. Too bad the big ace pot had fallen last week to Tracy. By the way, Chris Jones will be leaving us for good to go beat up on the corn-fed Iowa crowd in a couple of weeks. We'll miss him here!

Next time you're down UC way, I want to learn your route on #8 Mark!! I could use a few more birdies in my game /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

You should play doubles with us this Wednesday, too! TDs rule.

Jul 21 2003, 04:00 PM

O.K Dave since your so good with #'s let's look close. I've only been playing for ALMOST 4 months now and have played UC maybe 3 times. Now you've been playing how long? sounds to me if a 2 is all you can do after all this time you need to spend more time on your short game instead of attending all of those meetings. It's all love baby, and for the record I thought we were just bouncing around names since THERE IS NO OFFICIAL CLUB YET and I thought if we are going to put LO on the map let's do it all the way. What does all that have to do with Joe P? he's just another fello player with an opinion, can you dig it? Peace brotha it's all good!

Hey guys I'm not here to step on anybody's toes , but when I posted something there for RT the other day about the name we were having some fun . Then all of a sudden I read what Joe P. put on the thread ,it seemed to me as if he was against the whole ACDC thing , I really don't care if there is a club here in the GREATER SAN ANTONIO AREA. If anybody else wants to have input on a club name have at it . All I know is that there are clubs all over Texas that are willing to take new members . Tournament pre-announcement. On Saturday, October 11, 2003, the first Alamo Area Fire and Police Memorial Classic will be held at Live Oak City Park. Details are being worked out, but here is what I know (subject to change on a whim)... 1 round of 18, 1 round of 9 - singles. $22 w/$5 going to the charity, and $2 to the ace pot. Dinner w/keg (maybe free?) to be served after the event to be combined with the Wednesday Night league awards ceremony. Those who purchased mulligans all year will have a chance at winning a basket, and we will sell more raffle tickets for the basket at $1 a chance - all proceeds to charity. Pros will play for cash, ams will play for points towards merchandise. Ams may combine their league points with this tourneys points to buy stuff. Still looking into a possible players package. Proceeds from the league and this tourney will be combined and delivered to the charity.

Potential sponsors may contact me at [email protected] This is a worthy charity who does terrific work honoring those who gave their lives serving our communities. http://www.aafpm.com/

AAFPM Tourney Update: New date... November 1, 2003. Too many conflicts on the 11th, 18th and 25th of Oct.

The first round will be the back 18 at Live Oak including the monsters - 10-28 excl 13! New entry fee $20. The second round will be an ace race of 10 holes. $5 per person, 3 shots at each basket 1, 2A, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9A, 10A. The "A" holes are shorter basket placements, and there will be rec tee boxes on anything over 275 ft. 100% payout to all aces. CTP by division if not hit, as if. Aces during the first round will get a share of the pot in the second round.

We should be finished and at the awards ceremony/dinner by 4:30-5pm, out of there by 6.

This should be exciting!

Aug 05 2003, 03:46 PM

It's a done deal with the city and Joe Painter. Joe has put the city support behind me running the event, Mr.Atwood as well.

I am still concerned about Brian as his mini is on Sunday at UC. I really want to speak to him. My thoughts are this...we can still do Brian's mini and the Ace Run event at the same time just by doing it all at Live Oak.

Sunday, September 14
10 am Meeting
Round 1 / Mini
12 noon Lunch by the Lions Club
Round 2
Finish around 3pm

I have emailed flyers to Joe at the City. It anyone else wants one just email me and it's on the way.

A limited edition discraft disc, a t-shirt and a sticker for $15 is a great deal. Plus the most aces wins the super grand prize.

Guys try to encourage your wives and girlfriends to play. The holes will all be short and fun. Let's have a huge girls field/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

More news soon...Brian call me.

Aug 21 2003, 02:56 PM
I appreciate all the folks that thought of me for this and I really think its a super idea and will be a blast of an event. There are three disc golf destinations in Texas that I can't get enough of and Live Oak tops that short list.

I was unable to do an Ace Run event this year with all I've got going and with the short notice on those dates. I will DEFINITELY do one next year somewhere, and I'll try as hard as I can to attend Chris' LO event. I'm sure it will be as fun and smooth as everything else he does.

As TD's go, y'all got the better end of the deal this way anyway. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

My mouth has always been big, and as for my rating, I don't put much stock in mine, as so few and stale rounds are reflected in that number.

You know there aren't many of us girls out playing, so it just makes it a bit more interesting. It just sounds like there will be a good field at States for the Advanced Ladies, and that is a welcome change, there are a couple of local girls who don't play out of town that should make things even more interesting.

And remember, that beautiful new black cart will be staying here in Houston! /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Isn't it funner this way? Stirring the pot is always interesting and makes for better entertainment. My nickname on the HFDS board is SSH, can you guess what it stands for? And recently I've been way to busy to smack at all, so "bring it on"! /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Just remember, I'm a real South Texas girl, more like a Bobcat. Expect to have some fun! Maybe we'll be able to get some other ladies into this kitty fight! LMAO! /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Too bad we can't challenge during doubles. But by then, I'll have #1, that is if you are going to Outlaws!

Why don't we doe a mass challange at Outlaws for AC/DC tags? that is if you all ain't skeered/msgboard/images/clipart/proud.gif #23 The same for Windriders tags.
