So I remember Laura, who along with Danielle played in the Men's Intermediate division, saying they had beaten one of the guys...according to the results, that would be Steve Welguin. Is this our own infamous "DJ"?
As in.....

no no thank you. way to get the ole putter working. too bad we missed easy putts on # 1,2,6.
I think we will start singles by division to determine handicrap for the winter league this week and sdetermine handicaps on the winter course for the winter league. Which means we will need to meet at #13 this coming up week and have PIZZA after the round. If anyone has any good ideas on how we can change up some of the holes PLEASE let us know. thanks

Rivery or Cat Hollow sound like better ideas than ROCK winter course...IMHO...although it don't matter what courses y'all decide I WILL be winning my first full session /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I am stunned how few club members played ???
Maybe it is just because I am wishing I had the ability right now.
Looks like a good overall turnout.
Now How many will be there next Wed for the summer league party ?
Rob = 1
What's the course record at Cat Hollow, 14-16 down? Sounds like a lot better than the Winter course. And how many people do you think will show up at the Rivery by 3:30 in the afternoon. I agree the winter course needs some work but we always have to consider time constraints. I know I can play the whole 18 before dark but there's too many others that throw a wrench in that program. Is there are a way to use the whole course and shorten up the holes, maybe change the way some are played to where we can finish by dark? I'm up for suggestions. But the Double-R needs to play at the Rock for league play in my opinion.

Okay, sorry for the last minute update. We will continue to meet at Hole 1 and play the whole course until the time change Oct. 31st. This new league is divisional singles, you play for side bet money based on your respective division, and your score will be computed at the end of 8 weeks to establish your handicap for the next winter league. You must have atleast 3 players to have a division. The club is providing pizza, beer, and sodas after the round at the hole 13 cabana. See you then :D

I did another clinc at lakeway and it was a big success. We had somewhere around 30 kids from lake travis high school show up Saturday morning 9:00 am. "Pretty good since that had a home game the night before."
The cit of lakeway gave away over $300 in merch to the players and they plan on doing this again the first weekend in Nov. This time a sunday so more people show.
I also meet with a church group St Lukes at 620and2222 and they want a course and to do the same thing lakeway is doing. So all this is paying off. Next event for Lakeway will be a pro/am so I will be INVITING pros to join us. And for all the people that donated disc for this....you will be happy to know I saw all kinds of kids throwing the donated plastic....Thanks again guys

Idiot alert. Sometime between Saturday night and right after the Sunday morning round at the Rock I managed to LOSE MY WEDDING RING. I know, I know. How do you lose a ring off your finger? Stupidity is the only answer I can come up with. I was driving home from the park and just happened to notice that the GD ring that has been on my finger for NINE GD YEARS was gone. Is this mini 5 bucks a head as well? Sounds good. I have never played RR and would like to see what everyone is talking about. I hear this course is hard. 1000 foot holes....Yikes!! I just wanna see someone crush a disc 600 feet. That is so far. I gotta figure out how to get past 400 feet. It is killing me cause I know I have it within me. Anyway.....hope to see you guys out there.

Any dragons with nothing scheduled this weekend can come down to Waterloo and give V and me a hand with the baskets. The Double R is sponsoring by doing this. Thanks for all who have let us use there baskets. I almost have enough to go set up the old walnut creek course at least 9 holes of it. :DI've only practiced there but you can see some sweet lines from years back, way before my time.

Wow I never new that. Steve-o lives there now and I've played at those for years. It's so disatifying hitting a big putt and hearing....well nothing. What a trip.
ahhh, I just thought I was over those cable baskets and Larry had to bring them up. Trevor, Joey and I made sure that those cables met a quick death. Tree/Strip donated galvanized chains and we cut them suckers off and crimped the new ones on. My forearms hurt for weeks.
I hit the BIG woods of mid Mizzou this weekend. I can not describe how beautiful it is here right now. Saw a lot of turkey and deer. The weather is to die for. Mid 60's.
It's good to be home. Headed to ST. Louis for Monday Night Football.

Absolutely bring back Walnut Creek as a temp course. I only played it twice, back in the early, dark ages of my disc golf odyssey.
Don't recall if there were tee signs, seem to remember a lot of searching for the box but, I do remember those "cable baskets", pretty sure that's the reason I only played twice out there. :(
About twice a year I email Gordon asking if the Waterloo club has talked with the city about setting up that course again. (No, :()

I was wondering that too. As in, how well did I sandbag my way to a comfortable handicap? ;-)
But seriously, yesterday at the Rock was awsome!!! I scored a personal best (57) beating my previous personal best by 2 strokes. I hear Efrain beat a personal best too.....way to go Efrain! Playing the Rock (and playing it decently) is almost good enough, but having the after-round cookout makes it really worth it, IMHO. So much so that I'm going to lobby to have my mgr let me quit work at 3pm on Wednesdays so I can do the Winter League and do the Rock all year round. :D

Clemens? it was enevitable.
I would like to personally thank Mr. Kreke for not calling me back right after the game, even though I called him after the very first batter in the very first inning. It just goes to show that he is a class act. Never mind the fact that I already changed my welcome note on my phone to Mr. Czimskey has retired for the evening and is no longer able to accept annoying phone calls from Cardinals fans.
How come you did'nt call and listen to my most excellent message? Do you realize what concentration that took at that time of night? Little bitty buttons in a low light condition, in my condtion????

Live Oak is coming up this weekend with sanctioned singles on Saturday and the unsanctioned Big Money Doubles Series on Sunday. Early registrations are going great and with the $445 carry over ace pot from the first three DiscGolfStore.com GCCS events, the ace pot should be close to $750 for the day!
For anyone who needs a hotel for the night, the Comfort Inn has rooms ranging from $59 to $69 depending on Triple A membership etc. I am told it is very nice and has a free breakfast and a pool. (Phone # 210 659-5851, 200 Palisades drive, 78148, Directions from I-10 from Houston, take 1604 right/north, go 7 miles and turn right on Palisades and you are there - - the internet maps steer you wrong apparently).
Directions to the course: NE of San Antonio on I-35, take Judson Rd. or Toepperwein exit to Leafy Hollow Dr, which leads into City Park. 1st tee at the end of park road.
Tournament central will be set up in the pavilion near hole 1.

Hitchcock Report
The last DiscGolfStore.com Gulf Coast Championship Series event in Hitchcock went great with 65 players on a pretty day. A huge thank you goes out to the local Brooks players who helped set up the course and coordinated the 3 extra holes. Over the first three events we have had 112 different players and we have not even started the swing over to Victoria, Round Rock and Live Oak.
We have had some confusion with the players packs. Each AM at EVERY event gets a players pack. Please see us during lunch or after the second round to pick it up at each event. These packs are available through the generous donations of our donors and raffle ticket sales.
In the Open division, Alex Huges drove over again from Austin and took the division by one over local pro Michael Ynfante by one shooting a 119. The big story of the day came from the Advanced division where Brian Boo Pearson beat not only the Advanced division, but EVERY division with a smoking 115 on the day. The estimated ratings for Boos rounds came out to 989 and 991. Matt Hall (121) and Keith Vest (124) took second and third.
In the Advanced Masters division Cecil Larkin (130) came from 4 strokes back to beat Steve Dufrane and Jake Walsdorf by two. DeAtra Edwards (151) won the Advanced Womens division and Jenn Daigle (170) took the Recreational Womens division.
Intermediate was won by Marty Cooper (129) by two over Jaymie Perry and James Bailey. Jaymie had the hot round of the day in the division with 61 during the 2nd round but it was not enough to come back for the victory. The large Recreational division was won by Dan Showman (133) by three over Russell Carmichael and five over Steve Bachtel.
Thank you to everyone who came out!

Found a disc under the left side trees on #2, looks like it had been stuck in the tree for a long time. Its a Bob Marley colored Disccraft Z disc, unknown what model as its well worn, 172g (bob marley colored, as in dyed orange/yellow/green). The disc apparently belongs to a Keith Machen as I looked up the pdga # that had been written on the disc. From his tournament history, I'd guess he lives in the Dallas area. Anyone know him, let him know to contact me here via PM. Thanks.
I'm not gonna make it tonight...Have fun!

Yah ! I think we put a scare into that stadium.
Everyone I know who went to that game is horse today from yelling at our team in the first half.
Then yelling at their own in the second half !
Ah yes the drama of watching a bunch kids play games.
We need to teach these people about disc golf - a real sport.
I bet Joe Bob was a teeny bit excited too ???
I think ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) almost helped UT this year.
Thank Mac for the pay-off for me. ;) ;)
Now how much for a home win in basketball ?
I just got back from the toe Doc.
It'll be at least another month for me .... bummer.

The tree loss on #4 and if you think about it #3 and #17 lost trees that were important.
If you design a course around trees that only live for 20 years and they are 10 years old when you design it. In 10 years you have open fairways. But we have new trees in the ground.

Very Sad those trees were very important to the course.
Be sure to encourage the growth of the new ones.
Keep em well watered and dont trim them too much.
Still the greatest course ever.
who is there? i will be pulling in right at 4! please wait for me!!
