I haven't decided NOT to go yet....if someone brought a portable basket we could still cook and have fun under the pavillion....could have a Putting mini, lol. Wait. That nice pavillion grill isn't covered is it. Drat.
Personally I've got to be in that area anyways about 5pm (getting a smoker over at the RR Academy) so I'll prolly go there just to see how many people are actually gonna play in this rain. And have a CFO, of course. :D

not offical, no aces, lake is out its banks, but not over spill way.
Low water crossing out the park was 2' deep(good thing I got a real truck)
And sunday 's turn out have been bigger than R&R club standards will allow. I think a hugh feild of 10 people have been showing up.
We need to think of a way to bring them numbers down.....we can't have to big of a turn out for golf at the ROCK

More sarcasm... PLEASE.
Should we try to begin to think of moving the Sunday start time up to say 9:30
next week and then 9:00 later.
I can think of two good reasons to do this:
1) It's hot by Noon.
2) more time to go to the pool/lake &/or Honey Do's
Just an "Ideal" for Jiggy to think about.
As far as the ACEPOT which is huge by now.
How about using some of those Alternate tee's to make it more likely.
Personally I think a few short thumber holes would help.
Any who I guess I'll discuss with Jiggy (Mr Sunday TD) to see what he might think.
JohnE - I think you owe me a CFO for the Zappa answer ???
All please Have a Nice Day
:)
Feather
I think 9:30 is a good idea. The Jig meister needs to think about this one........but........it all depends on what time he can get up on a Sun morning. From experience I can tell ya it can be pretty tough sometimes, and he is the one that has the $#@&* to come out and get things going. Soooooo, what ever he says gos.
I wonder if the BART thread has as many sarcastic remarks from one single person as the RR thread does. It seems there is only one big sniverler in the group and the truth is in the history of this thread.

Let's all plan on having a really good one this year.
No more sniveling
Hey Roberto. All is well. Two decent bites on the house. Both a little to low. I can wait. Golf? Oh yeah, I remember what that is! I played a really cool course in STL last week and it was very hilly throught the woods. So different from what we have to offer. I tweaked my back either playing or when I busted my behind on a slippery slope. I just flew into ATex last night so I hope to get out and throw some. I wonder where my bag is?
Hey Ware, I spelled a word wrong! Let's see if you can figure it out! :D

I'm hoping after the toe surgery (July 12th) I will get better.
We haven't always had huge crowds at the Rock on Sunday but it has been

Try as you might getting a large number of people to get up early Sun Am isn't gonna
happen unless there is something in it for them beside a few dollars.

Jun 21 2004, 03:30 PM
That is what it is about, but can we have some direction and goals. Or am I missing it.... bettering disc golf in round rock, exposing the club to new people, and making round rock the capital of disc golf in Texas not the direction the cabinet is going for. Correct me! I mean if its only about showing up and playing with the same guys, not challenging yourself against better players. Or bettering disc golf as a whole.
Just say so. If its that simple everyone should be a cabinet member.

Hey so called shakers and movers of the cabinet.
Kick this around
Next wednesday league play (I know this is tough for you all to determine a format) but play some format(I think singles) at floating courses.
Anothers words 1 week ROCK, the next the kitty box(Cat Hollow lol),the next Rivery, then maybe san gabreal, you could even through in 9hole brushy(just add 9 temps)
This would give lots of varity.....it would have to be really orginazed so and we all know how big of a challenge that is :obut something to think about
thumber
Jun 22 2004, 12:14 PM
I've always loved the idea of a floating league.
I believe the RATS did this to some degree.
Perhaps something could be derived we would probably pick up a few locals
wherever we went and unfortunately we would lose a few locals from the ROCK
on the "away" weeks.
Good constructive feedback ( Still has little bite though but I can take it).
vinnie
Jun 22 2004, 12:26 PM
THERE IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE A BITE!
thats the only way to get this group of people motivated.
And as far as losing some ROCK locals, they have always been lost no big lose( I put a smile on it so the bite is not so deep) :D

I guess screw the party!!!
I thought the party was Saturday and the challange was Sunday?
Where is the conflict?
The way I party, Jr., you 'd be doing well just to keep up with me, much less play golf the next day. Remember, I have years of on-the-job party training as a former wannabe rock star. Try partying with members of Ozzy's band or Motley Crue till the sun comes up, driving 8 hours and then doing it all over again and then talk to me about partying with the big boys. ;)
I'm trying to make babysitting arrangements so that I can be in Stoney Hill on Saturday and at the bEast on Sunday. If I can swing it, I'll do both and I'll teach you a thing or two about how to party and survive it. :D
bigbadude

see got you wondering, but I see where you are being sarcastic. This is what I am talking about, why try to bring new people in or better the course it is so much better to be the same un-orginazed group that can't get anything done.At least I come up with new ideas, but you guys want to continue to have the same 20 people on wednesday and 8 people on Sunday playing the SUPER fun random draw. I am not a yes man who runs away from conflict or someone that says one thing in front of one person and says another to someone else. "you know two faced"
I don't care what my truck looks like or how someone feels about me.. I am a man not a person trying to win a beauty pageant.

Kreke,
Stand very still if you see a bear.
He will still eat you alive but at least all the running and screaming won't bother the other hikers.
Sounds nice up there.

It's still a cool Bruce flick.
All right who is familiar with the old show "My favorite Martin"
Sounds like another fun night at the Rock. I just played Frisco which is about an hour west of Denver UP in the mountains. I think the course is at 9,000 feet. Very different action on your disc. It's very fast but does not have glide. Everything goes left. Everything. The course runs through the pines and everywhere you turn you are looking at a beautiful mountain with snow on top. It's right on a lake also. I was getting winded walking up fairways! The coolest part was the drive back DOWN to Denver. It's 67 miles and the only time I touched the brake was to slow my coasting down to maybe 20 over. I had to touch gas pedal maybe three or four times. Unbelievable. There is no underbrush, that was cool. It's almost impossible to lose a disc. Some young kid came up to me and looked real spacey. He asked if I would help him look for his disc. I said sure Lucky. He looked for about two minutes and then went and laid down on the edge of the fairway. I guess some things don't change wherever you go! :)

sounds like you meet the Ronnie of Colorado :) sounds like a blast be taking pictures
I'm the biggest retred. I've got this bad-***** digital camera and I left it at the hotel. Two nights in a row! How often do you say "my god that's beautiful" every five minutes. So incredible. I kept thinking of the settlers trying to cross these mountains. It's not possible! So steep so tall. You can drive 75 mph north to south for six-seven hours and there they are taking up your passenger window. Those people challenged themselves in ways that we have never even dreamed of. I wish all of us RR' ers could play this course together. I've heard that beer has an extra special effect at this altitude. Especially sale beer! :D See y'all this weekend.

PK,
Sounds like a great trip.
Nice to have a trip journal on the rock thread.

Welcome to my home land. I was raised in Wyo, Colo, Montana.
Did you find any local mini's to get in on ?
If you can pick up a local "stamp" I would gladly repay you for it.
I dare you to try to throw "over" those 150 foot trees.
It finally stopped raining here.
Try to catch the fireworks show at Estes Park, Colo if you really want to see something.
It's about a 60 miles North to Loveland then follow signs to Rocky Mountain National Park
and about a 3 hour ride but well worth it.
Rob, I did play with some locals, good guys. I blasted a hyzer route on the first hole that they had never thought of. Throwing downhill is very cool. No mini's, sorry. I've heard of Estes Park but will not get the chance to see it. I'm flying back to Austin tonight. Possible RR in the morning with some cultists from Waco. :o
Vinnie, I need a favor. Please call me at 254-624-5366.
I promise for the duration of the phone call you don't have to call me sir. ;)

Just got back from a solo noon round at the Rock. Windy! But the reason I'm posting is that not just the basket, but the base too, is gone from hole #5. There's just a pile of dirt where the foundation or whatever you call it was. I would have thought just the basket would have been pulled for July 4th.....what gives? My guess is it needed to be pulled but they couldn't detach it from the base so they pulled the whole thing.
I'm up for another round today (Monday) after 4pm if anyone wants...somewhere besides the Rock that is...its 3 now...will check back here at 4. Cat Hollow or Bart maybe? If not np I know where *I'LL* be at 4:20 :D

did V write that :o
Ware, you forgot to bag on Bart. That course needs someones extra special attention. Who has a whole bunch of time on their hands? Mowing, trimming, dead body removal, :o stench investigation, :o disc-jacker alert, water purification, wow, my disc still stinks from that sewage creek.... :D

I don't get it why they pull the sleeve and basket.
They got the key...oh well, thats one way to weed eat around the basket :D

Jul 06 2004, 11:34 AM
Oh yeah almost forgot. Someone moved the teebox marker on #9 from where it was(is), to a spot about 15' to the left. This new location gives lefties and righties a fair shake at getting to the basket....hook/slice your choice but there's a tree directly in the way of a straightline shot. Not knowing who did that I moved the marker back to the original spot. If this was done by a Dragon I guess it was in response to the 2 recent aces on Wednesdays? If we're in the middle of some teebox moves I'd like to talk about moving #12 teebox about 20' to the right, lol. :D
Dude, new Bart is a fun course. Thanks for the reminder. I need to get out there play that one again.

An Intro to Disc Golf for Dragons :D
The area with tall weeds is to be avoided. Sometimes courses will have preferred paths without weeds that run through trees and near water. These are called "fairways." The idea behind the fairway is that you must throw accurately to be rewarded.
On a unrelated side note. I found a tiedye leopard in the "fairway" of hole 19 at Bart. It had RR Dragon and Butler on it. I will bring it to Waco this weekend. Chris, Vinnie, do you know this guy? Can I just leave it with y'all?

oh and James those aren'tr fairways. you see # 2??? holy [*****]
James, that's funny. I'd agree with you if the fairways were mowed and there weren't trees growing in the baskets. I was just shocked, I hadn't played Bart in about a year and it looks like the parks dept hasn't been there either. :o
Jerry, don't you :mad:me....... :D

Jul 07 2004, 10:07 AM
They really do mow regularly, it's just been so wet. Personally, I would do a little tree trimming, but the mesquite growth behind #3 and around #6, as well as the growth on #2 (you almost have to throw an overstable forehand) has added some new dimensions to the course which I have grown to appreciate.
Chris, I gave the disc to JohnE who will be at RR mini tonight, so try to remember to tell him to give it to you or Laura.

The ONLY draw back with the family goign on vacation and leaving me at home, is making sure everyone gets feed.
