El Chilly
It's an old frustration or frustrtating injury.
It happenned at AM Worlds in Michigan about 3-4 years ago.
Just when I was about to take the lead in (yes Am Mastrers) on a hole I proceeded to 5 putt a hole.
Then out of frustration I kicked at what I thought was a twig on the ground as hard as I could.
(Wish I would of had a metal mini instead.)
It turned out to be still attached and it didn't budge. I basically cut the cartledge in my big toe
in half. Over the years it has digressed into somthing that aches every day and gets worse
the more I play (hence no more 4 round tourneys even 2 rounds is tough).
I had a chance this month and I took it to get it "fused".
See you cant repair cartledge, so it was either put in an "implant" (fake joint) or "fuse" it.
The implants won't stand up to my running according to the doctor so, .... fused it is.
I can't move the first knuckle of the big toe of my right foot at all.
This is not really anything new as I had lost 90% of the motion there over the years.
It remains to be seen as to what impact it will have on my game but, I think it is going
to be help a lot because I was quite often throwing myself out of balance from anticipation
of the pain. This was always true of driving and at times even just putting.
Doc says I won't have that pain any more and I should actually be able to plant better
than before.

We shall see.
Should be 6-8 weeks (forever) till I get to play at full speed again.
For now I'm just a hobblin around and posting on the web.

Maybe I can catch up to Ware for number of posts
:D

Oh yeah guess who won Adv Master Worlds that year ...

Just a quick question about the Charity Marthon. The club has been volunteered to help run the Cat Hollow Marathon, who will be helping? So far it looks like just the two of us. Sure could use a little help, maybe from someone on the board. This is a club fundraiser, unless we want to donate all of our portion to the Lance Armstrong Foundation - which is what I want if it's up to me.

I am sure this refers to those people that pay for the Marathon Players pack verses those that don't. The $25 players pack includes a donation as well as the disc, hat, mini, stickers etc.

I wish I could make it but my excuse is I am leaving to Oklahoma City today to work on a new event. Is that a good excuse?

nix
Jul 14 2004, 01:01 PM
Cool, thanks Roo.
So if you pay the $25, you get all the sweet promo stuff, and a cheaper entry to the minis.
If you skip the $25, you get no loot, and a higher mini entry fee.
Got it.

vinnie
Jul 15 2004, 10:40 AM
thanks!
Move the basket?
Cause that hole was aced 3 out of the last 4 weeks? What about the no ace on that hole that went at least a year?
I am just glad all club members did the aceing , I always hated the conversation about a non-member aceing a hole at the rock.
I have been thinking about moving it deeper though :D
Thanks to all stepping up Saturday at the kitty box, we should have plenty help on our end.
And the big news is the city saying yes to adding 3 holes to the ROCK.
The area for the new holes is not a problem, I will be walking the holes next Wednesday with the city to determine what the city will help with.
Forsure we are paying for the baskets and doing some of the work. I just dont know if we can have the holes in before OUTLAWS, But for sure by the end of the year.

The city like the holes I have laid out. They are going to make sure of a few things, but it looks like a go.
And get this they offer me 36 holes at the ROCK. But they want me to put 18 holes on the 75 acres they bought by holes 5,6, and 7. I said NO, 18 holes on land with only 2 trees would be no fun. But its nice they offered

They shared their cold frosty ones unlike some of yall. Just kidding, it was a HOT SON OF A BISQUIT out there. Kreke bailed on hole 8, and Berlind and I joined up with M & J. We need to station some camels between holes 4 and 5 or plant some really fast growing trees over there. Bring on the water park!!

Can we make it 30 weeks ?
Keep your lowest ( unless they are under 50. Those count against you.)

Geno,
Hope you told M and J about the Double R and Weds league golf.
Hope to see em out there.
We welcome all the good guys we can get.
Especially with frosties :)

I am finally back at work but not yet back at golf.
It will be at least 3 more weeks maybe 5.
But when I can I will be back like all of our other "repaired" golfers Kreke, Ware and
Edman

... We have the technology.
... We can make him stronger.
... We can make him faster.
... We can make him better.

How have all the dragons been doing at the game of representing ?.

Aug 02 2004, 10:52 AM
Geno,
enjoyed the 1/2 round with you and Berlin, hope to play somemore rounds with you guys, No crap it was HOT!!!

p.s. I like the camel idea too!

I need help!
I am working with Lakeway Rec Dept, they are running a tournament for teens August 14. They don't know what they are doing and have asked me to help.
I need from the membership new and used disc. I am meeting with them at the Rock 4:30 Wednesday. So bring me disc, I will be donating the disc so they can move forward on their tournament.
And from the conversation I had with them. They want to put in another course out there and run santioned events. :D
So this is a chance for disc golf to grow at the lake.
so bring em

Aug 02 2004, 07:24 PM
Do they need to be almost new? I have a bunch of used ones, but they didn't always land on the grass fairway :o
Mike....Glad to here hear from ya. I told Vinnie they had computers in Duck Town.

Aug 02 2004, 11:26 PM
Good luck to all Round Rockers headed to IA for Worlds.

If I make the cut and get to play with the top 40 on Saturday, there will be a big party in the Big B soon to commemorate it! Casa de Martyr can hold a few folks and there's 2 baskets in the backyard, not to mention enough room for a keg. :D

Hey, it ain't Paul's place, but I'd love to have y'all out. :)

Aug 03 2004, 05:44 AM
Had fun Sunday Gene, will be there again this Sunday with mike (A.K.A.-M Losington) :D, trying to get warmed up for Outlaws, later.--Jack

Aug 03 2004, 09:39 AM
Vinnie,
I think I might have maybe one or two for ya.
yeah, Gene we have PC's in Taylor, just no f'n disc course, that's okay though, i'd rather play with better golfer's @ the rock anyway.
Hopefully see ya Sun.

thanks to tree, ware, geno, johne, larry, daave, and myself
Lakway has over 100 new and used disc for their teen tournament in Lakeway 8/14.
They have already planned another for 9/11.
The rec. department is very excited about disc golf in thier part of the world.
(And so you get the right idea, Lakeway is VERY rich)
I have been invited to attend their upcoming rec meetings to get a course in their area.
I pitched the idea of putting baskets on their ball golf course (not like fly 18) disc golf only. This also opens the door for some ball/disc golf challenges. Between the rec's dept. excitement and R&R backing this all could come to pass before the end of the year.
ROUND ROCK!!!!

you're right about one thing PK. My money would have been in your pocket because knowing my luck, I would have drawn your old butt, carried it around the course to a sure victory, and then would have had to split the winnings with you when all you would have been doing was drinking and complaining /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. Me, DD, and Jav did get an evening round in yesterday though, so I still got my practice. Hope the course stays dry for the tournament...speaking of which, Ware or Vinnie, either of yall got an electronic copy of the outlaws entry form you could email me?

Aug 09 2004, 04:53 PM

the 1 time I played that course, the marked distances were grossly inaccurate in my opinion, (threw past one that was marked 500ish, and I know I didn't throw it that far) but that was a while back. Hopefully they have updated their signs or tee boxes. Fun course, though.

The next installment of the traveling RR'er.

I pulled a stealth move and tracked down Dagon and Erik Knight in Denver and Frisco. We went to the mini last night at Copper Mountain. Let me stress the word MOUNTAIN. By far the most gruelling and course I have ever played. As far as beauty it is right there with Frisco which is only about ten miles away. The course is designed right on ski slopes. I knew I was in trouble when I was seriously winded after walking halfway up hole one's 235 ft fairway. There are 300ft holes that Ware couldn't reach. :D The majority of the holes have trees. Hole six is 86 feet! Straight up a hill. My hyzer was parked and it rolled back down the mountain past us and past fives basket. 200ft in the wrong direction! At 10,000 feet the oxygen is, well let's say not readily available. The standard rule is no one has to throw until they catch their breath. I did have a touch of luck when a sawed off hyzer on an insane down hill stood up and rolled about 100ft right to the basket. On hole 17 a two finger was looking pretty good and I threw what I thought was an ok shot on this 250' hole. Well it kept going and going. Somewhere in the neighbor hood of 600+ feet. Past 18's basket and I was on hole 17! It took me two HARD throws to get back to the basket. These guys run a mini. Everyone meets at a bar/restaurant at the bottom of the mountain. Your entry fee gets you one beer and a raffle ticket. Coors is a big sponsor. They give away almost $1000 in raffles every week. Bags, discs, etc. There were eight in open. I won in a playoff and got $70.00. They also paid half. These guys are awesome. I can not recomend enough that if you are in the Denver area head West about and hour and play Frisco and Copper Mountain.

We have talked about double course record being -8.
Then Danial Stacy told me that last year me and him shot -10.
I don't recall the score we shot, but he is sure that we shot -10.
Ware you ran dubs last year do you have any record of this?

edman
Aug 19 2004, 12:47 PM
V I ran dubs last year, I don't think I still have the cards but if I do I know exactly where they are. I let you know tomorrow. I'm pretty sure your right though, I remember a bunch tied at 47. I know you guys bettered that by a couple.

seewhere
Aug 19 2004, 01:30 PM
we will see how you walk, listen to your speech and than determine..

this is what we will do.

Next league is Divisional Singles (to develop handicaps before winter league) starts September 8th and ends on October 27th. Total of 8 weeks. Daylight savings is on Halloween Sunday the 31st. Right in time to start the next league. Handicap Divisional Singles starts November 3rd and runs atleast 10-12 weeks.

I beleive this is what is planned for next league.

It was 18 holes
we had two 18's last year, no need for a 21 hole
-10 thats a good round #....I am thinking -11 is better :D

Aug 19 2004, 05:57 PM
Hey Kansas boy, help me with this one. It's 58 degrees and theres a huge storm rolling in from Wichita. I'm five miles from Waterworks. Should I stay or go!

It will be good to see you back at the Rock. I might make one of the next few Weds but I am generally there on Sunday's.

Aug 19 2004, 08:20 PM
Darn. I made it through hole 8 and it started coming down. Hell-Boy, I played with Mark Stiles. Masters player, great guy. Know him? It was cold enough on a couple of tee boxes to see your breath.

Vinnie, on your way back from Des Moines if you came through KC in the day time. We are going to move North East of KC to Liberty, Kearney, Lawson, Holt. One of those cities. I hope you saw how f'n beautiful it was there. Right up hwy 35. :D
