The Ocala Greenway is a fantastic course making great use of some unique topography along the Floriday Greenway trails.

With both long and short pads that are concrete, this course offers challenges to all skill-level players. This is a must-play course for those visiting the Ocala area, with its tight but fair wooded fairways, giant oak trees, palmetto bushes, palm trees, and mature pines that create some very fun and technical lines.

In recent years the course layout was updated to a complete 24 hole course which has eliminated a somewhat confusing prior layout. The old layout had 6 alternate holes mixed in between several of the main holes which created some confusion. But now those holes are all played as the standard 24 hole layout with all the baskets and tee signs number 1-24.

The original PAR on the signage is a bit misleading as the local handicap league which plays on Saturdays plays the course as all PAR 3's but the signs say differently.

Overall this is a fantastic course which many of the top local players cut their teeth on as they learned the game. Visiting Pro and Open players continue to report having great experiences on this course.

Many of those top players used to play annually in the "Silver Springs Shootout" which was run at both the Greenway and Pine Oaks courses in Ocala, but in recent years the City of Ocala reclaimed the land that Pine Oaks was on, eliminating that course. It was sad to lose that course! So a few of the local players got together and have built a new course called Sawmill DGC which is only a 15-minute drive from the Greenway. That course has recently been expanded also to a 24 hole layout and there are talks of bringing the old "Silver Springs Shootout" back to life now that there are two fantastic courses in Ocala!

Great Course! Must play!

Almost four years after last review, signs have not improved much. The map at the beginning of the course has been somewhat nullified due to the adding of extra holes which expanded the course from 18-24 holes. Unfortunately, instead of renumbering all the holes, they modified some numbers (hole 4, hole 4A, hole 4B)... Then at some point decided to switch to renumbering the latter holes (renaming hole 16 to hole 22, for example). I heard other players during my round complaining of the same thing. I'm still not quite sure how, but I jumped from hole 6, to hole 18, rather inadvertantly.

All that said, the course itself is a good challenge. Many tightly wooded shots for me to practice my lumberjack technique... And a handful of open shots to really let your arm rip. Nice elevation changes, especially being in Florida. Benches at almost every tee, some even having little pavilions.

Overall a very nice course, if you can find your way around in it.

Awesome set up. Pretty difficult with a lot variety of pin locations (left, str8, right). Only difficulty was figuring out where the 1st hole is (left trail of parking lot about 100 ft.) And always trying to figure out where next hole is. Needs more signs!
