Description
Man in the Maze Disc Golf Course – Sahuarita, AZ
The Man in the Maze Disc Golf Course is a thoughtfully designed course that blends the rich cultural heritage of Southern Arizona with the natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Developed in collaboration with the Town of Sahuarita, this course offers a dynamic and engaging layout that caters to players of all skill levels.
Inspired by the iconic I’itoi labyrinth, a symbol deeply rooted in Tohono O’odham culture, the course weaves through diverse terrain, featuring strategic shot placements, elevation changes, and a mix of open fairways and technical wooded lines. Every hole presents a unique challenge, rewarding precision and creativity while providing a scenic and immersive playing experience.
The course features two distinct layouts:
A beginner-friendly 9-hole course set in a slightly wooded area, offering an inviting environment for new players while still incorporating technical elements to encourage skill development.
A championship-level 18-hole layout designed for advanced and professional players, featuring primarily open fairways that demand precision, power, and strategic shot-making.
As a course designer, my goal has been to create a space that not only fosters competition and skill development but also serves as a welcoming destination for the local community and visiting players alike. Man in the Maze is more than just a course—it’s a reflection of Sahuarita’s commitment to outdoor recreation, cultural appreciation, and the ever-growing sport of disc golf.
