ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The putts weren’t falling. The drives were sailing out of bounds. And, of course, hole 17 tried to derail James Conrad’s attempt at summiting the United States Disc Golf Championship mountain.
All that mattered, though, was that the Virginia pro had one insurance stroke and one hole standing between him and history. That was all he needed.

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- It would have been easy for Chris Clemons to wilt under the pressure that comes with the United States Disc Golf Championship. This is only his third career appearance at Winthrop Gold, after all, and his first time leading a PDGA Major.
But despite triple-digit temperatures and a face drenched in sweat, Clemons was a cool customer yet again on Thursday, and the 31-year-old preserved his spot at the top of the standings heading into a pivotal third round.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Chris Clemons appears to have hit his stride at the right time.
The Kansas City product won his first career A-Tier just six weeks ago at the Vacationland Open in Turner, Maine. A runner-up finish at the Green Mountain Championship followed, as he tossed a career-high 1090-rated final round to climb up in the standings.
Now, the long-haired lefthander can add Wednesday’s performance at Winthrop University to an increasingly impressive resume.
