2025 European Disc Golf Festival — Round 1 Recap

History was made at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday to kick off the 2025 European Disc Golf Festival.
The first PDGA Major held in Estonia arrived and that first card out on the Song Festival Grounds in the FPO field set the pace.
Like the host city Tallinn, Latvia's Sintija Klezberga made her Major debut and she made the most of it. Klezberga was the first clubhouse leader with an 8-under, 1020-rated round and, after a loaded field navigated the Rockstar track on the hallowed grounds, the opening round ended with the Latvia native on top of the leaderboard.
Klezberga shot 124 points above her rating and is the lowest-rated player to hold an FPO Major lead since 2004. She's one of five players in the past 20 years to hold a lead in their FPO Major debut.
Another player on that list? Valerie Mandujano, who was also on the first card out on Thursday and will also be on the lead card for Round 2. Mandujano, who is two strokes back, made the lead card at the 2019 PDGA Pro Worlds, which was her FPO Major debut.
Canada's Sofia Donnecke is tied for second with Mandujano. Kona Montgomery will round out the lead card after a 5-under day and is tied for fourth with Ella Hansen and Missy Gannon, the 2024 EDGF champion.
On the MPO side, it was the opposite.
Hot rounds were rolling in throughout the day, but it was the loaded feature cards that sizzled the most.

Isaac Robinson and Anthony Barela torched the course to the tune of 13-under, 1086-rated rounds for a share of the lead from the second feature card. From the last card of the historic day, Ricky Wysocki, the 2024 EDGF champion, and Niklas Anttila followed with 12-under rounds and are tied for third with Luke Taylor and Calvin Lonnquist, who will lead Friday's chase card.
Luke Humphires, Raven Newsom and Ezra Aderhold are all knotted up at 11-under ahead of a logjam of five players tied at 10-under. In total, 12 players are within four strokes of the lead.
It's only getting started in Estonia.
