sandalman
Jun 21 2005, 07:01 PM
ok, thanks gary! a 1995 apx would be rare indeed... they came out in about 99 i think. but some might have gotten stamped with old stamps. i know houck was the master at those type of shenanigans for a while :)
garywatts
Jun 22 2005, 11:38 AM
well then maybe it is some thing else,, i do how ever have 4 yellow APX putters that i got with my basket, are these the ones you are looking for?? They have APX molded into the back of them.

used are fine, the four yellow ones I have are used, only for putting practice of course, 3 of them have writting on them.
hey smurf watch it,, i never said i used the basket, not in a long while anyway,, now if I had two of them then maybe that would be a different story. :D

Jun 22 2005, 01:50 PM
Do any of the north Texas OMB's have any Swirl putters, or Holiday Buzzz's?
I understand that due to your age that you may not remember :o, but would you please check. I'll make it worth your efforts! :D
sandalman
Jun 22 2005, 02:34 PM
i have some swirls, yes. some are in rather nice condition, some are more used. i am looking for new first run z-buzzz's if you happen to have any of those.
reddman
Jun 22 2005, 02:39 PM
Oh, 1st run Z-Buzzz. I like those.

I'll take it! Thanks Adam. What do you want that i might have?
okcacehole
Jun 22 2005, 03:28 PM
John - Do you have a white aviar 170+? custom stamp by chance?
The swirl is actually my neighbor Todd's disc that didn't sell on ebay, but I have switched him over from the dark side ( Ryhnos) to aviars and he needs a few more.
my_hero
Jun 22 2005, 04:05 PM
I'm sure i do, but you shouldn't have helped your neighbor with the switch. You should have let him make that decision on his own. You guys are all brainwashed! :D:p :D
okcacehole
Jun 22 2005, 06:41 PM
I got tired of watching him miss putts with the Ryhno...now he can putt :D
I checked the disc at lunch and would have to call it a 9 of 10...it has a black streak on the edge and the bottom lip is used somewhat ( looks like they played catch with it) if that makes any difference.
If not I can give it so Pat on Thursday if you 2 will see each other soon
my_hero
Jun 22 2005, 07:34 PM
Thanks Adam. Although i am a little weary of you giving it to Pat. He'll charge me a 1st run Z-Buzzz for being the middle man! :D

Old men suck, especially those with filthy feet that ALL OF THE SUDDEN want Holidays instead of 1st's. :)
Adam, please give the swirl to Brenner. We'll see if he gives it to me. :DI have a 2001 white Big Bead with the VPO cactus stamp. Will that be okay?
okcacehole
Jun 23 2005, 01:03 PM
That's cool if that is all you have...I actually already have that stamp...
actually I have 2 of them...there were 2 made with the same stamp, but something was different on the wording if I recall correctly.

Jun 23 2005, 01:06 PM

And, YES Mark, this is also a Traders Row thread. :)
okcacehole
Jun 23 2005, 01:34 PM
John- I forget..this trade is Todds disc and yours...that is fine...unless you have a nice soft aviar laying around...either way I am sure he will use that over the APX he was going to trade :D
sandalman
Jun 23 2005, 01:45 PM
hgey goofballs, i have some soft avaiars also, so bring the dang APX! i also have an extra 1998 Tx State big bead in my set of States BigBeads. too bad 4 u that year came only in black!

sandalman
Jun 23 2005, 02:28 PM
i have 16 feet of shelving in the garage. about half of it is new stuff. (a third of that is first run.) the other half is mostly used discraft, with some odd ball stuff
my_hero
Jun 23 2005, 03:11 PM

so how was waco on sunday? hot enough with enough bugs for ya? :D
Actually it was pretty sweet...We hit the Lake course by about 8:30 or so...then headed to the Beast...but they were having jet boat races and the place was covered with people...played Cameron Original (east/west..whatever)..and a few baskets are in new spots since I was out there last.
Not sure if they were like that for the WO, but #17 is a B*atch now and we didn't even shoot it due to people watching the races...#18 was finally up the cliff...what a great hole!!!!
prairie_dawg
Jun 28 2005, 12:46 AM
Was #17 in the long position at the original course? #18 long is a blast. The first time I played that hole in a tourney I dueced it. Lucky blind anny shot went in the basket  Haven't come close since :(

I think BC would be fun. Or the Lake at 6:30 :D Or The colony from the long tees  I'll be there this week, but next week I'll have to skip. I'll be on the pager :( Stupid pager has the worst timing. I can't even go look at fireworks b/c I've gotta be within 15 mins of a computer the night of the 4th. Anyway, I digress. Is anyone else planning on he Jul 9th Lewisville TX10? Yes, Pat, I know it's a non-sanctioned 1-day and is therefore meaningless, but it's local and not too expensive. Plus, even BamBam can handle 2 rounds! :D
sandalman
Jun 28 2005, 11:30 AM
Fahrenheit Fling - Veterans, July 16-17.
ok boyz, i suspect most of you will have some lame excuse for not showing up, but the FF is on at the Vet in July! this is a fun tourney... start out with championship tees the first round, then gets shorter each round until sunday afternoon we play from the short (wednesday nite) tees to the short baskets.
i know most of you are scared to death of the courses west of 360 (not to mention the players), but try to find the courage to break out of your little shells and make this unique summertime event.
sandalman
Jun 28 2005, 11:33 AM
my vote, if i get one, is BC. its got a good playground for the kid, lots of shade, and (kinda) centrally located.
re the TX10 at the Lake... i thought i heard about some wierd "must be a member" rule this year. is that true? you hafta be a member of the tour to play in hte events? if so, i am out. if not, i am considering playing.
baldguy
Jun 28 2005, 11:34 AM
hmmm last time we went there, we owned our division.... ;) and I know you can't say anything about playing up, pat, since you are such a proponent of the rating system :D
I might play. Depends on the weather forecast for that weekend. I did enjoy my last Vet tourney, but I did *not* enjoy the heat

I think the rule is that you have to be a member to participate in the little extras like ring of fire and CTPs, etc. Oh, yeah and the final is members-only. I bought Deidre and I both $25 memberships at the season opener in Waco, and I have only played one event since. Everything so far has been too far S and not run by Chris... But the next 2 are here. I'll be playing both :)

Now that's dam funny!
Actually, Frank, we moved to Bedford this past weekend... selling the house this Thursday and getting away from Frisco and Mark and Amy's wailing little banshee!! :p :D Seriously, I just wanted to move away from the Lake course, since no one will ever play it on Thursdays. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Too little, too late, BBD.
Seriously seriously... I like the kind of people that hang out at BC better than the Lake course people. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
OK, seriously seriously seriously... it's nunya bidness why we moved, let's just play BC this Thursday, K??? :D

BBD, if I can get enough done around the new place over the next 10 days or so, I plan on being at the Lewisville TX10.
Can't pass up an opportunity to play a 1-day local event... I can finish one of those! :D

Not so BBD. Your are not in the big payoff Ace Hole or the other stuff you mentioned. You can still go down to Dripping Springs and play if you pay :D
Silly one :p

I was contemplating hitting the mckinney wed. night mini. $5 entry fee and lotsa shade :)
As for the tx10 final, I was only guessing. The series lost alot of appeal for me once Chris went to the more hands-off approach. Not that I mind other TDs, but Mr. Himing drew a crowd. Packed events all year... the ones I played this year weren't the same. Anyway, Lewisville and Carrollton are a must, regardless of turnout :)
Pat, you know that it's just silly to ask Frank if he's coming to the STD this week. He's very obviously SKEERED of playing with us. He can't handle the PRESSURE of not knowing who his partner will be before he shows up. What used to be a group of friends getting together to play golf and talk smack has turned into a "Frank must win or it's protest time" fiasco. Personally, I miss the guy and I'd love to see him come out and play on thursdays. But, if he can't stack the team with what he feels is his best opportunity to win, he won't show up. I'm still not sure what he's "protesting," but... whatever. Let's just play some golf :D. OMBs SUCK. YGBs RULE. Frank SUCKS. Watts is a PHAG. You old farts are gonna LOSE!

the last time i played denton was several years ago, and i remember it as being basically fair... in fact at one point i thought of it was the most under-rated course in DFW.
Lake Lewisville:
lefty holes: 3
nuetral holes: 1,2,4,5,6,11,12,15,17
righty holes: 7,8,9,10,13,14,16,18
can you say "down and to the left. down and to the left. down and to the left."
what a waste of a course.

There was an OMB victory last week? Gee what will I ever do....I should protest, whine and gripe like 'ol p*ssy Frankie....
How about GB this week and we can do Porter the 3rd week?

Pat, you say 9 is a righty hole, but 4 is neutral? I disagree... I would lean toward 9 being neutral, and 4 being lefty.
But then again, I also disagree with you that 5 is neutral... in the longer pin placement (which is the only way it's been played the last year plus) it favors the righty.
It's more of a righty course, but I don't think so much so that it should be considered one of the worst. If you take into consideration some of the "real" aspects of playability, such as shade, drainage, distance from pin to next tee, facilities, etc., I would say that the Lake course is one of the better courses in DFW... for a righty, that is. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

nine is OB is the lefty doesnt get the annie correct. 4 is very reachable for the righty annie - actually more reachable for righty annie than the lefty hyzer. lefty has to go fairly wide, which means he has to throw about pin high then take a hard right turn - not really a natural hyzer line.
isnt 5 the little short one? maybe i havent seen a new pin placement. if you say 4 is lefty then you have to say 6 is righty by the sme reasoning.

I do agree that this course favors right handed players, but I don't agree on all of your assessment. The following holes favor left handed players, if only ever slightly: 1, 2, 3, 4, 12, 17. If you can throw a sidearm shot out to ~300', then you can still get a good play on 8, 10 (a little bit of a stretch), 14, 15, 16, and 18. Out of your list of neutral holes, #4 has to be the most obvious lefty hole; grab an overstable driver and hit a gap to let it skip to the bucket. If #17 were reversed, I would have a lot of birdie opportunities.

Then 17 should be considered lefty, since it can easily be OB if the rightly doesn't get the annie correct.
4 is very reachable for the righty annie - actually more reachable for righty annie than the lefty hyzer.
Gotta disagree with you, again. This is not an easy righty annie throw... combine the low tee box elevation with the tree canopy, and it leaves you with a touchy shot. I personally think the best route there is the righty flick shot.
isnt 5 the little short one? maybe i havent seen a new pin placement. if you say 4 is lefty then you have to say 6 is righty by the sme reasoning.
Not a little short one, anymore. After someone cut down one of the two "gateway" trees over a year ago, Tom moved the pin back about 85-90 feet, and about 20 feet left of center.
I would say 6 somewhat favors the righty, especially for those throwing over 350'... a righty fade could still have a fairly open shot, but the lefty fade will most likely be in the crud.

1,2,12,17 lefty??? you are on crack. all three are dead straight.
#17 doesnt have the ol tree blocking the righty line anymore. the only reason is might be a lefty hole is that i (a lefty) can reach it and you (a righty) cant! :D
even considering #1 as one or the other is absurd. its 150 feet downhill with nothing in the way fer crissakes.
#2 is dead straight also. we both go over the knoll. then i hook right and you hook left. big deal if lefty goes right to early he gets knocked down short. if righty goes wide left, he can still get thru the trees for a look. dead even by any reasonable analysis.
#12 i straight also. a righty can bomb a flat line out there and hyzer glide thru the trees to the pin. to get to the pin, a lefty must annie slighty. mess up the annie and lefty is OB past the white fence. righty has the road fence to think about. this one is dead even also.
in determining L vs R advantages, you cannot be super picky. only broad analysis is really valid. there are 7 more holes that offer a real advantage to the righty than there are for the lefty. its really that simple. the Lake is terribly unbalanced.

ok, I'll bite... Having started at the Lake and played there more times than I can count, I think I know the course pretty well :) I'm sure it'll come out heavily in favor of righties, but it *is* the only rain-playable, shady, concrete teepad, good lookin, heavily played, well maintained and alchohol-friendly course in DFW.
same as before, -1 lefty, +1 righty
#1 0
dead even. period.
#2 -0.5
righties have a tougher line and a tougher putt if the shot hyzers out at the end. still not a hard hole for either
#3 -1
obvious reasons
#4 -0.5
it's not a hard-hook at the end for lefties. a very natural hyzer line is easy to find. very tough hole for righties. not alot of birdies here for the "normal" group :p
#5 +0.5
the new pin placement puts the righties at an advantage for the long tunnel->hyzer end shot, as well as the over the top shot. Lefties get a real nice s-bomb over the trees. Either group is best served with a straight tunnel shot
#6 +0.5
Don't see too many lefty birdies on this hole.... or righties for that matter. righties get a more forgiving line
#7 +1
Big righty hyzer. nuff said
#8 +1
short righty hyzer.
#9 0
This one is now so much longer that it becomes neutral. 99% of either group is playing for the 3 after a long straight first drive.
#10 +1 (I'd go more if my ratings system allowed it :)
long righty hyzer skip. not terribly hard for any righty skill group... lefties gotta be good to take the 2. (don't forget the mando)
#11 +0.5
pretty neutral, but righties again have more room for error
#12 -0.5
same reasons as above, flipped
#13 +1
long righty hyzer. *very* tight tunnel for lefties (or righties who haven't got the arm
#14 +0.5
tight tunnel or big boom hyzer for righties. lefties get the perfect thumber line... almost even
#15 0
hyzer lines for both
#16 +1
spike hyzer line is easier for righty to hit... much easier
#17 -1
true, boom annie goes farter on average. but a LOT of righties end up OB left here trying to throw far. lefties get alot more room for error, and 412 feet isn't *that* far for a hyzer shot
#18 +1
righty hyzer skip... probably most aced hole on the course. Lefties get an interesting over-the-road shot (no mando here) but not nearly as easy as the righty line.
I get +4.5, a heavy advantage for the righties... LL Woods is a different story though :D

once again, BBD shows he gets it. now if he would just stop calling a freaking 412 foot straight shot a lefty hole, we'd be fine.

BBD, wtf does "go farter" mean? you giving your drives a little afterburner?

You have to admit the most common errant shot on that hole is a rightie attempting to throw an annie line that stalls out OB or a straight shot that fades out OB. That's not a concern for a leftie who is fading away from OB into the hill. The hole gets very narrow for righties as you near the basket.
