Something funny is that right after round 4 of the tourney, knowing i was out of the cash, i decide to throw some more holes and see what happened. I started to crush my drives, and could actually putt. Who knew! An intermediate player asked what division i play, and when i said Rec, he called me a bagger. I thought he was joking, but he was in a serious conversation with another guy on whether or not i should move up. haha i laughed.

just because i try to play with the best, doesnt mean i can.

I had a great time, and cant wait to play again. I cant make Zboaz, but maybe another.

I know the weather was great sunday, but how bad was the slop after the rain friday and saturday?

Saturdays first round was a mud pit and the 2nd round wasn't a whole lot better on the teepads, but most of the course had soaked up alot of the water by then

Sunday was pretty optimal...some mud out on the course and pads, but not as bad as the previous day

on a side note, I'm considering going to vegas for a mini-vacation and to play the GCC (Gentleman's Club Challenge) which is supposed to be a pretty nice event. 3 days of golf, scheduled tee times, 1 round of 24 per day. plus i can stay for free with my buddy Keith and it seems like there will be lots of time for other stuff before and after golf. Anyone ever played that event before? In vegas I can play my rating and not catch any crap for it ;)

Looks like DJ might be heading out to that tourney also with a few guys...not sure he has played out there before, but it should be huge with the Memorial being held around the same time

Josh R. and I played one of the courses in Vegas but not sure what the name was, it did go around a soft ball field.

yeah, this is the same course. I have played it before, but last time it was overrun with people who had no idea what DG is, nor did they care to learn. they just wanted to grill on those nice concrete patches and throw baseballs / footballs whatever around on those areas some hippies were trying to call "fairways". That being said, I have a lot of hope that an event like this will be announced and made known to the park-attending public well enough that we can avoid such inconveniences and competition for space. Either way, I get to go hang out and play golf in VEGAS BABY! :)

i wish i could remember the guys name out there that was gonna show us around so i can give me a heads up or in your case heads down :D

I am sure you can switch up but it might be good to just send the TD am PM today so he doesn't have to do it last minute on Saturday morning...we can probably build our own cards since this is a fun round for Charity...no herd golf though :D

I jumped to advanced after i signed up, so he should let you do it. I did it for the same reasons. to see how i faired in a nonsanctioned event in the advanced division. How much are draw dubs gonna be? i may be in for it. If JT can stick around, we are riding together.

PT and I measured all the holes at Audubon the other day and wrote on them on the tee signs with a sharpie. Pretty sweet, but people have already been marking up the signs with grafitti.

That's a good idea. I used to play pool all the time but haven't got to play much lately.

Fox and Hound at 75 and Cambell has some great food as well as good pool tables, and darts, and bar, and couches! its a sweet place.

Friday i plan on playing cedar hill and or ZBOAZ or somewhere farther away than BB or audubon.

everytime the weather has a major shift, I get sick... so when it went from warm to cold to warm again a few days ago... I got sick. I'm just starting to get over it and now it's gonna get cold again? :confused:

Well I'm glad!!! My whole family has been sick (pooping and puking), man...there is nothing like trying to take care of puking kids when you can barely keep your own lunch down.

Just glad we were able to get in a few more holes last night before all this junk hits DFW....we actually escaped losing any discs in that wind and were bogey free for the 12 holes we were able to play.

Something was burning up North and the course was covered in smoke. Probably dropped 15 degrees from when we started to when we finished.

Event #6 Match Play @ Cedar Hill Saturday Feb 25. This will be a non-elimination format like last season. Everyone will play six 6-hole matches for points and the top points getter in the division will be the winner. Match play is an incredibly fun format. This 36-hole one-day event will host all divisions. Friday Pick Doubles at 3pm (un-sanctioned) Jr $20 Rec $25 Int $30 All Adv $35 All Open $40

Unfortunately no, i got tired of dealing with it and couldn't find a house i liked so me and a buddy of mine are going to split a 2 bedroom apartment in my same complex. So basically i wasted a lot of time looking for a house for nothing.

Bummer..but I know the pain...last one I was going to close on sold and paid fully that day...sucked...

Me too. If i catch the 1 light between my apartment and work then 4-5 minutes, if not then only about 2-3. Can't beat living 1.2 miles from work.

Duke - why didn't you finish the Victoria tourney? Looks like you were tied for 1st after day one. I heard it was cold and rainy down there.

I was in second after the first round, and tied for third after the second round. The lead card was 2 (Mike & Randall) tied for first 1 stroke ahead of 3 ( Rhett, Tome & myself) tied for third.

I was watching the weather the evening before, and the reports of freezing rain from I-10 north, and the thought of getting to Dallas in the dark made me decide to leave by noon. I was afraid of icy bridges slowing down traffic most of the way. As it turned out, the bridges were only bad near and in Dallas.

It still would have been bad if I had waited 'til the end.

Just hopped off the phone with Josh in Vegas. He said the GCC is going good though he was stuck with a 7:30am tee time.

He mentioned that there were gopher holes on the course and DURING the tourney the city was out there blowing them up! Sure that made putting easy :D He shot a +13 I believe.

I was on track to shoot in the high 900s this round, but as per usual, it fell apart. 4 stokes better than yesterday is still ok, but not enough to make up for the horrible first round.

On a related note, anyone got any tips for overcoming loss of backhand grip? I dunno if it was the early cold air that made my hand swell, but at about 12 holes, something went pretty wrong and I wasn't able to hang on to a backhand throw for the rest of the round. Every shot was coming out early, not matter how hard i tried. almost as if my hand was losing a drastic amount of strength halfway through my motion... I simply couldn't hold on to it. Oddly enough, overhand and sidearm were fine. I managed to salvage the round a bit with some baseball shots, but it went from a likely 72-74 to an 81 once i lost my grip.

anyway vegas is great, weather is awesome... tournament could use some help though. they originally said ams first, pros last on fri, then pros first, ams last on sat and sun. This somehow got changed without any real notice so that now, ams have to play in the 40 degree cold rather than the 75 degree sunshine on all 3 days. The entry form I signed did not tell me that.... I have half a mind to file a complaint. teeing off at 7:30-8:00 every day in the cold is not my idea of fun and I probably wouldn't have come to this tourney if they had posted it this way originally.

throw x-elite or equivalent plastic. its grippier so it is more accuracte out of the hand. both wet/cold and/or tough footing can mean a bit less turnover, so moving from Z to X helps both of those.

much better round for me today at +3, but the current results are wrong in several places... My round scores are right, but I ended up tied for 5th, not 6th. plus my pdga # is wrong.... hopefully this all gets fixed, and I assume it will since the pro scores are missing entirely. Anyway, fun times in vegas. I bought a handful of the full color minis at $10 each if anyone wants one. Sorry, murphy, all the white aviars were gone =/

Park was packed today with families and huge groups...I have never seen that many people at pitch and putt land...Krell lost -7 to +7 out of 27 holes...minus #7 :D

yeah that round was decent. I was 6" from shooting a 73 too :o

hole 20 is a 405 ft hole that is laid out like: 320 ft of about 40-ft wide tunnel (not too tight of a tree line, but straight is the shot for sure), then about 75 feet of "creek" OB maked w/ yellow rope, then about 10 feet to the pin. my second shot ended up 6" shy of the good side of the rope, 10 feet from the basket. that forced a drop-3, shoot-4, drop-in-5. should have been a drop-in-3. boo. I also missed 2 dinker putts for no good reason other than being a chump.

the scores are still wrong... scott lee shot several stokes worse than 76 on his last round (had a rough final 6 ) and "pimp trigger" whot the same as I did. oh well... i hope they can at least fix my pdga number. i reckon I'll send the td an email

BTW, I met Renee Russo at the Wynn today. Looked up from my chips at a blackjack table and there she was, less than a foot away. Took me a minute to be sure it was her, but when an old chinese lady asked her for an autograph i was sure :) very nice lady, and very pretty in person. Wasn't gambling, but the guy that appeared to be her boyfriend / husband / whatever sure was. Must be nice to have a famous actress in your cheering section.
