Just go out, play and enjoy the company of some good people. It isn't always about the scores at the end of the round, it's about the the fun you had with people that you enjoy being around and the memories of all the trash talking that make it worth showing up.

Been playing too much late night poker to make it on Sunday :eek:. I should know by now that I can't stay up until 5 am and be able to function the next morning. The sad thing is I've been enjoying sleeping late and not being in a hurry to get anywhere.

Jason, speaking as the winningest STD YGB (when it comes to poker :D) I think your group and our group should have a little hold'em tourney one of these days. We usually play 2 rounds at $20 a round. Only once (out of probably 12-15 times) have I lost both rounds :). A couple times, I have taken both... cha-ching :D We also usually have a basket and a parking lot (or back yard) for the losers to play horse on while waiting for the second round.

Can ya get the PDGA to sanction a poker tournament? :D

I did suggest something along these lines last year. Do flip doubles, use BBD's website, and track everybody's placement to find out who is truly the best doubles partner. I thought it to be a rather cool concept myself. :cool:

well i've got good news and bad news. bad news is tonights work day was a dismal showing. it was steve and myself and steve's friend rusty who is not even a disc golfer.

the good news is hole 1 is planted, concrete and all in the ground. it's there i help put it there myself. this is a really good hole. 350 to 380 ft.straight ahead the basket is on a slope but you can see it from the box. kinda of a tunnel shot.

No, Todd, you see, according to BamBam, our saying "we could even start at 6:30 to give more people time to get to the course" means that we "refuse to start at 6:30 to give him time to get to the course." :D With that sort of blatant disregard for his schedule, how could he ever make it in time? I think the real problem is that he is an OMB. OMBs only play when they have a good shot at winning, and when it's tailored specifically to them. OMBs do not like the thought of losing, they do not like driving more than 5 minutes, and they do not like to learn knew things or play new formats. OMBs are the proverbial "old dogs" and they protest any thing that resembles "new tricks" :cool:

Todd, I truly would love to join you guys out on the courses more often, but I have to ask... have you not been paying attention?

Here... just in case you, or anyone else, has missed out on "the" pertinent fact which keeps me from doing so; I work in Denton, until 6:00pm, every Monday through Friday. On extremely rare occasions (only happened once so far this year), I can get out on Thursday in time to play.

Otherwise, if you guys (mostly YGBs, it seems) insist on not making up north - not even occasionally - and perhaps starting at 6:30p instead of 6:00p, then I will continue to NOT throw discs with you at Porter, or any other course.

It has absolutely nothing to do with a "protest mode"... it's more like a "lack of access to a time machine" mode. :p :D

Since it's a slow day today, I went back through the threads (this one and the previous OMB/YGB thread) back to 4/21/05, and I only found one week where the "announced" start time was later than 6:00pm... that was 4/28 at Bear Creek, start time of 6:30pm

Actual start time is of no consequence... I'm not going to get in my car and drive somewhere 20+ miles away in the hopes that everyone didn't actually start at 6:00pm, like they announced they would.

what ever i am going to throw disc's all weekend, starting on Friday around noonish,, dont you guys wish you were going :D

Well, I'm back to carrying the bag, for now, so it will definitely be with me next Thursday. I have the Carolina Team bag, and it is well worth the money... it's in another class altogether from any other bag I've seen or carried. The only problem is, ever since I got it, I can't seem to finish a 2-day event :eek: :p :D:cool: I'm not convinced it's the bag, though.

It's not the new bag, it's the extra 20 lbs of stuff you can pack into the new bag. :cool:

No doubt... I'm sure the half-gallon of water, or other beverage of choice, you can carry in the thing adds just a bit to the weight of the bag.

That was most apparent when I started using my pull cart, and was still having trouble getting around the course. :confused:

*$# ya'll write a lot. Baldguy, nope the Mesquite course is not permanent, but it is available along with the other side of the river as well. We could very easily put 3 18's adjacent to eachother...and really good ones at that. But, in the intrest in spreading the disc golf world, the city will be putting in another course completely on the other side of town (date TBD, still have to cut a lake...long story, but have $10K). Not yet. We are supposed to go to the hospital on the 23rd, but I think we might be headed that way before then. With this kind of condition, I just can't venture too far away from home. I literally lost a disc in there the first round I played with it...it slipped down one side and then under the frame....those bags are huge!

They still need to work on their drink holders though...that little strap doesn't do much good unless you have a large bottle or a coozy in there.

Yeah, the little strap on the bottom of the drink holders is the only problem I have with that bag, too. The problem with it, for me, especially at the Lake, is that the bottom of my water or Gatorade bottle will pick up all sorts of sand and dirt, which then transfers itself all over the place when you drink. It makes it hard to stay fashionably clean at the course. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif :D

I have a coupon in my Entertainment Book that is for one complimentary green fee when another is purchased. Someone might get luck to use that coupon with me. No, it doesn't mean you get the free green fee, but I bet you don't pay full price. :cool:

The course is a very bad golf course. But it make a pretty good Disc golf course. The type of ball golfers out there are very similer to your average disc golfer. The day I was out there you could not really tell the difference other than some were playing with sticks and balls and the other discs discs and baskets.

But with that being said, I will not play out there again unless it is for a tournament. Too many free courses to play. I am too cheap to pay for a cart.

They are suppose to be selling beer out there, which would make it a popular course with some players.

Gary should have been beat by me.. But I decided to play the first round like an OMB.. OMB scores just don't cut it in advanced... no really... I was sick the fisrt day after that disgrace. What a horrible day of disc golf. That was the first time ever in a tourney I played that bad. The 2nd round I played the last few holes with my bag on.. What a whiney assss pussss. Gary played good but he could have been beaten it wasn't like he ran away with it. There were others close to him. Not me but others.... :DI had a little revenge the 2nd day though.. I shot 17 over for the first day and 3 over for the 2nd day. Hmmmm and still beat all the OMB's ...i think....Thats pathetic... :D:DOh well there will always be another tourney..

before you get your thong all wadded up, take a look at your ratings. looks like a 931 average for the weekend. thats a few points under your rating of 937, and almost exactly your AVERAGE. (average is lower than rating because of dropping the low 15%.)

so you played at about your worst two rounds and about your best two rounds. happens all the time. thats why we have averages.

with all those pro winnings, maybe you can invest in a sense of humor :)

Nate Derr, some of you guys know him and some dont but he fell a sleep driving to Waco Saturday morning and rolled his SUV on 35 just north of Waco. He busted his head up and was in the hospital until Sunday evening, he was released. He had a bleed and it seemed to have stopped but he still has to see another doctor. He was alone so there was no one else injured in the accident.

I hope he gets well soon, and am very glad no one else was injured.

I am in for thursday.... and there is no doubt in my mind (and while they will not admit it, in the minds of select ygb'ers also) that this wierd xmas in june streak of theirs will come to a skreeching halt.... /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
