Sorry, Pat... I was agreeing with you, in my own special way. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

We haven't played enough rounds together for you to know that, but from about 280' and in, I'll throw the direct route with a midrange, even if the approach is wide-open. I'm not a big fan of the hyzer approach.

okcacehole
Dec 19 2005, 07:37 PM
How do you see the Glide vs the Wildcat...That is one straight disc for me...use it on 300 or less dead straight...

didn't try the glide, but the crush didn't work for me

sandalman
Dec 19 2005, 08:30 PM
ok, troll, sorry i didnt get it

adam, for starters, the wildcat is a sharp-edged driver mold, whereas the glide is more of a blunt-edged mid. the glide is unique because it has incredible, well, glide. with one step and decent spin it will go 300 for just about anyone.

the wildcat is straight and can be fairly readily turned over. in that respect it is a lot like an avenger, although the avenger has more stretch in its glide phase.

the glide has been described as a midrange version of the XL. i think its a good comparison. not as fast as the most modern and pure driver molds, but with its extra long glide phase it gets nearly as far - just takes a few more seconds to get there.

on a long open hole, like several at veterans, i'll certainly throw a sharp driver, because if i get lucky and execute well, it'll go 400+ and i dont care too much exactly where or how it gets there. but as the hole gets tighter i wont hesitate to use the glide to get me 250-300 and be left with a relatively straightforward 100-150 foot upshot.

okcacehole
Dec 20 2005, 09:37 AM
haven't ever seen a glide yet...but if it is blunt..I already have a BUZZ for that

Parker....no more bagging for you...920..you are stuck...I still held below the ADV line, but they don't have the Mace event on there which will push me past that magic 915...

Passed Watts up...Andy..you are going backwards and Todd jumped up nicely...Krell...enough said :o

Dieder and Dann...you 800 golfers need to play more

sandalman
Dec 20 2005, 10:08 AM
the glide is not as stable as a z-buzzz. it flies farther than the z-buzzz. if you have ever played a round with me, you have most certainly seen a glide. it was the 2004 ace race disc. it is more of a finesse disc, so maybe you'd be better off leaving it alone til develop some additional skillz.

okcacehole
Dec 20 2005, 10:12 AM
oh you funny man...

guess I should take that post with a grain of salt as you are now in the BBD realm..thinking you throw 400 all the time...

you still have 100 more to catch josh :D

oceanjones
Dec 20 2005, 10:56 AM
The Glide is nice...but I'll tell ya...the most underated midrange out there is the Champ. Cobra. Slow disc, finishes so straight, but you gotta be careful with it too. Also makes a great forehand roller to get out of the junk.

sandalman
Dec 20 2005, 11:24 AM
i believe it said "if i execute well", not "all the time". i can throw 400+ IF I EXECUTE WELL, not all the time. i cant remember ever throwing 500, except at extreme elevations, so josh is safe :D

Why are you signed up as a pro Ryan :D

bambam
Dec 20 2005, 04:42 PM
Because I took cash in Masters at the Lewisville TX10 Final last year.

Any other questions keeping you from getting your work done today, Adam? :D:D:D

sandalman
Dec 20 2005, 04:47 PM
scuze me for buttin in, but what are you signed up for as a pro? theres no events in the immediate future are there, (cept for PIO) ?

bambam
Dec 20 2005, 04:52 PM
He means my membership... I renewed last year as a Pro, since I accepted cash, so when you look at my ratings, I show up as "MPO"

okcacehole
Dec 20 2005, 04:57 PM
Didn't know if you took the cash or not...

Now you can look forward to Mitch Mac smacking you around the place :o

bambam
Dec 20 2005, 05:06 PM
Yeah, one more point and I'm off to MPM land, where I'll be a frequent donator, no doubt :p

I was on the final round card with Mitch Mac at that TX10 final last year, and he's a cool guy to shoot a round with. Very laid back and funny.

bambam
Dec 20 2005, 05:10 PM
Will you be at the PIO, Pat?

Pro Masters?

okcacehole
Dec 20 2005, 05:13 PM
and extremely deadly with that putter....he taught me alot back when I started this game...

has 18 holes in his backyard - that always helps

bambam
Dec 20 2005, 05:21 PM
Yeah, but what I remember most about his game (at that time) was that he didn't leave himself very many long putts... his mid-to-short game is greatness.

Of course, when he did need to hit a long putt, he frequently did.

okcacehole
Dec 20 2005, 05:25 PM
the guy easily has over 100 pro and pro master wins and probably closer to 200.

As a matter of fact, I believe there is going to be a tourney at his house next year...

bambam
Dec 20 2005, 05:30 PM
the guy easily has over 100 pro and pro master wins and probably closer to 200.

And yet, he's one of the most down-to-Earth guys you could ever meet.

Heck, after mentioning to him that that was my first pro event, he spent the rest of the round watching my technique and offering advice, if I wanted it. Maybe that's why I had 7 birdies over the last 10 holes /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif and still finished two strokes behind him. :p

sandalman
Dec 20 2005, 05:36 PM
Will you be at the PIO, Pat?

Pro Masters?

as of now i expect to play the PIO this year, as i have the last coupla years. further, i do expect to play Pro Masters for most events in 2006. even at 939 i am not likely to cash. if i do cash at some event, i will likely turn it down, as i have some unfinished business in oklahoma that i need to take care of.

Trying to get a solid answer out of Krell and them for Monday...I will try to get a decision out of them today...

Ray - I only have 2 Wraiths left now that I can part with..both 168 or 169 ( have to check)...I held the others for you at the Z-Boaz event but never heard back from you

Looks like DTWorld and a few others have small amounts of them left also.

Well, after giving it some thought, I decided it might be wise to ease back into it, since I played a whopping two and 3/4 tourneys this year, with the last one being in May.

Anyway, I'm only one point from "having" to play Pro Masters... one decent tourney, and I'm there.

What is the proper play for hole 5 at Audubon? Go up the little path to the right and throw over the water? Or the big anny? Both are fun...but what do you guys play when you go? And if you throw over the water where do you have the tee pad at?

steve_parker
Jan 03 2006, 01:35 PM
step right up to the path facing the creek and throw a line drive hyzer just over the lip of the creek bank by the basket....

once you make the throw a couple of time you will love that route and that hole no matter how many times you hit the cliff and roll into the water....

okcacehole
Jan 03 2006, 01:48 PM
Watts aced that hole 2 yrs back and the basket was broken..there were not any chain rings on the bucket...

over the water is preferred...but around also works..also a thumber over the top if you can pull that off

sandalman
Jan 03 2006, 02:08 PM
depends on the wind also. its a lefty crushing hyzer with the correct wind. the shot across the creek isnt that difficult - its just more of a mindf*ck. the front of the tee is marked with a stake ( ithink) but sonce there is no formal pad, you can use the 3M back rule if youre going around the outside.

bambam
Jan 03 2006, 02:26 PM
For a righty, the "easier" path is the direct route over the water, but the big anny (or lefty hyzer) route is definitely there... like Pat pointed out, the wind is a big determining factor.

The trouble with the righty hyzer route is obvious... water almost the entire flight. But there is equal trouble with the anny route... trees everywhere that love to catch round plastic objects. Last time we were out there, Frank lost a disc on the anny line, and there were about 8 of us looking for it for over 20 minutes.

disc golfing the whole way. i always thought it would be fun to take a road trip hitting as many courses as possible, but also schedule 18 rest stops. and have a collapsable pin in the trunk and set up a sick rest stop hole, and you and your buddies throw it and head back out on the road. thought it would be kinda cool to see who would win the Fantasy Rest Stop 18.
