Women's Global Event Closing In On 2,000 Participant Goal

Women's Global Event Closing In On 2,000 Participant Goal

82 tournaments ready to kick off on May 12

Tuesday, May 1, 2018 - 17:21

We're now just 10 days away from the fourth edition of the PDGA Women's Global Event (WGE). On May 12th, more than 1,700 women from 13 countries and 39 states will tee off at their local, satellite WGEs to compete against all women and girls competing in the same division. The accessibility of these virtual, ratings-based PDGA events and the encouraging atmosphere they provide have been essential factors in facilitating the growth of the female disc golfing demographic since the WGE's inaugural event in 2012.

The PDGA Women’s Committee has strived to make each WGE better than the last. This year, the bar has been set higher than ever to push the boundaries and encourage more women to play disc golf. With just over a week to go, there are now 82 WGEs officially on the schedule, and our goal of 2,000 participants is growing nearer. Several tournaments still have open spots, so if you or someone you know still needs to sign up, the time is now! Look for events highlighted in pink on the PDGA Events Schedule to find a WGE near you.

Global Division Prizes

We're extremely happy to announce that the 2018 PDGA Women's Global Event will be distributing prizes for the top three finishers in every division, regardless of field size. We want to encourage women to sign up for their appropriate division and be proud to represent it! In addition to the prizes listed below, the top three from every division will also receive a gift voucher to use in the Discmania online store, as well as engraved trophies from Disc Diva.

  • 1st Place: Custom pink WGE-embroidered ZÜCA disc golf cart
  • 2nd Place: B-Series Grip Equipment disc golf bag
  • 3rd Place: Voucher for a free pair of shoes from KEEN Footwear

Virtual Players Packs

In addition to locally provided players pack items and global divisional prizes, all registered WGE competitors will have access to a "Virtual Players Pack” with exclusive offers created for and limited to WGE participants. This page will be distributed to players by their respective WGE tournament director via email. If you are a competitor and have not received an email with the link, please contact your tournament director.

Charitable Giving

The PDGA Women's Global Event has partnered with the Disc Golf Foundation as this year's charitable giving partner. The Disc Golf Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has partnered with Throw Pink to coordinate funding for Girl Scout disc golf clinics, equipment, and troop disc golf outings.

We are offering great incentive prize items for the top three events that raise the most money for the Disc Golf Foundation, including items from Throw Pink, Dynamic Discs, the PDGA, and Disc Golf Strong. To be eligible for these incentive prizes, we ask that you submit your donations to the Disc Golf Foundation via PayPal to [email protected] by Friday, May 18. When sending your donation, please include a note with your full Women’s Global Event name and location. Prize winners will be announced on Monday, May 21, 2018, on the PDGA Women’s Global Event Facebook page.
