There was a moment before James Conrad threw one of the most iconic shots in disc golf history, a moment when time stood still. You could read the focus on his face. There was no doubt as he lined up his shot: this wasn’t going to be a lay up.

After all, laying up isn’t really a James Conrad move.

Whether it’s with friends, disc golf, juggling or his hair, chances are strong he is going all in.

Everyone knew this Worlds would be special, but nobody knew just how special it would turn out to be.

Just hours after Catrina Allen snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a gutsy approach shot that landed safe on the OB line that surrounds The Fort’s daunting 18th green, James Conrad stepped up to a similar shot on that very same hole.

OGDEN, Utah — The journey, with its highs and lows, is what makes the result that much sweeter.

Sitting on the edge of the 18th green on the 90th hole of the 2021 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championship, Catrina Allen, through the process, the grind, the ups, downs, met that goal.

She’s now a two-time PDGA World Champion.

“Hard work, determination, never giving up, no matter what was thrown my way the past couple of years,” Allen said, emotion showing and rightfully so. “The amount of support I have right now is incredible.”

OGDEN, Utah — This was never a race, it’s been a marathon from the start.

The ups and the downs, the highs, and the lows; reaching the finish line of the PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championship as the victor is about enduring them all.

Catrina Allen, through four rounds of dramatic and thrilling action, has been most proud of her finishes each step along the way.
