It was a wild and wet day for Round 1 of the Des Moines Challenge presented by Discraft. With a deluge of rain starting early in the morning and continuing all day, there were numerous delays, and some tee times were pushed back as much as 90 minutes. Even the Disc Golf Network live stream was pushed by a couple hours due to rain and lightning delays.

Birgitta Lagerholm tapped out her final putt at the 2004 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships and entered the history books.

The professional careers of Gregg Barsby and Garrett Guthrie got going that same year. Seventeen years later, Juliana Korver is back in the mix.

It's safe to say that Iowa holds a rich and deep history in disc golf.

Stay in the moment.

That’s what Eagle McMahon told himself coming down the stretch of the Portland Open, where a two-stroke lead had quickly become a shot-for-shot battle.

Sunday’s finale in the Pacific Northwest had plenty of moments.

After a slip from Kevin Jones, who had surged to take a two-shot lead with four holes to play, McMahon found himself in a familiar spot: a putt on the 18th hole to win the tournament.

He cashed it.

A much windier day at Glendoveer Golf Park made for some exciting golf for the 2nd round of the 2021 Portland Open presented by Dynamic Discs. With wide open and long fairways, the wind and trees proved a little more visible during Saturday’s round than the one previous.
