It feels a bit selfish to whine about having clear, sunny skies for the opening round of the 2016 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships presented by Dynamic Discs. But in the middle of Kansas with minimal wind, 70% humidity, and a heat index nearing 105 °F (40.5°C), we might just have earned the right. At least a little bit…
To say that the scores thus far are close would be the faux pas of the year, without a doubt. 11 divisions are represented at the 2016 Pro Worlds, and of those 11 divisions, only one has a scoring separation of more than two strokes between first and second place.
Hole 4 – Normal Tee sign is misleading. The player does NOT need to reach the far side of the cart path in order to be safe, the cart path is actually an OB river for Hole 4. (Doug to have tee sign modified.)
Hole 7 – The country club has some stakes and yellow rope protecting one of their greens that are inbounds near the green of disc golf hole 7. If they are in the way of taking your stance, you may carefully remove them and then please return them as you found them after your putt.
It's our favorite time of the year and we can only assume that many of you following along at home would say the same. The PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships presented by Dynamic Discs begins here in sunny Emporia, Kansas this morning as 400+ players from 12 different countries take to the tees. There is no bigger stage in the sport of disc golf, and there is no title more important than the one the players are seeking this week.
After battling in the heat of summer for the next week, only a very talented few will walk away as a PDGA World Champion. And when we say the heat of summer, we mean it. Temperatures will be in the 90s most of the week and the humidity will be extreme.

Only in Emporia, Kansas would you show up at a middle school and see a permanent 18-hole course built around the property, and not be surprised at all to see it. This town thrives on disc golf, and Emporia Middle School was the perfect host for the 2016 Pro Worlds Field Events this afternoon.
Long Drive
*The Long Drive competition is not a true distance competition that is eligible for any World Records as it is not a WFDF sanctioned event.
