Calculated and clean, Ricky Wysocki is on top at the midway point of the first PDGA Major of the year.

With an 11-under, bogey-free second round, Wysocki is now clear of the field by three strokes heading into the weekend at the PDGA Champions Cup presented by Bushnell, a large margin considering how this field has attacked W.R. Jackson.

“I only had one bogey (Thursday) and no bogies today – that’s what it’s going to take to win, playing clean rounds like that,” Wysocki said. “I’m just in control of my game right now. I know where my discs are going, and I know my landing spots.”

Wysocki’s move to the top of the leaderboard was just one of several big moves made on Friday as we officially hit moving day at this inaugural PDGA Major.

Austin Hannum torched the course to the tune of a 12-under 56 and is now the sole owner of the course record at W.R. Jackson. He jumped 26 spots into a tie for second place.

“Whenever I made the putt on 18, I was doing the math in my head – I knew I had five in a row, then six in a row then a bogey, so I realized that I had a 12 today. I had no idea it was the course record.”

Hannum kept it relatively clean with an 81% fairway hit mark and 100% scrambling. He was also 100% from C1X and had makes of 74 and 60 feet.

“It was a normal day,” he said. “I started with five in a row and was like, ok, this seems really easy today so let’s keep doing this. I just kept hitting the aggressive lines because it was feeling good today.”

Chris Dickerson followed close with a 10-under round, as did Mason Ford to jump to the lead card. They sit three back of Wysocki at 18-under.

Saturday is officially moving day, but the logjam of scores kept the leaderboard shifting at a rapid pace.

Paul McBeth torched the back nine to the tune of nine under for a 10-under round to jump 13 spots into a tie for sixth place at 17-under par. McBeth connected on all three circle 2 attempts and had throw-ins of 96, 70 and, to close out, 101 feet for an eagle on 18.

McBeth will join the chase card of Calvin Heimburg (-18), James Conrad (-17) and Andrew Marwede (-17).

In total, 17 players are within six strokes of the lead.
