Here's a look around Championship Sunday in the Land of Enchantment:
- Three strokes separated the top four in MP40 entering Sunday with Sexton trailing leader Cale Leiviska by three strokes. With an 10-under final round — and four rounds of bogey-free golf — Sexton completed the comeback after a slow Round 1 for a two-stroke win. It was a battle up and down Oso Canyon with Sexton grabbing the lead late over Daniel Polk, who landed on the lead card for three of the four rounds. He tied for second with Paul Oman.
Daniel Polk — T2 in MP40
- Allen birdied six-straight Sunday with her win all but locked in. Lisa Fajkus dropped a 3-under round on Sunday for solo second place in her FP40 debut.
- Brian Schweberger completed a wire-to-wire win, but his lead shrank every day, dropping to just two strokes entering Sunday. Schweberger turned in a solid 6-under round to seal his 437th PDGA win and second PDGA Major title. Robert Frias had the hot round and jumped into solo second place.
- It was the same for Juliana Korver, who ended up with a seven-stroke win, but the action was tight throughout the week with Margaret Patterson.
Jim Oates in MP60
- Championship Sunday winners included: Hank Kirwan, who jumped from second to a four-stroke win in MP55; Jim Oates, whose 994-rated round lifted him to a one-stroke win in MP60; Bethel Barrett, who had the hot round of the day to jump two spots and claim the title in MA65.
Christine Huestis in FP60
- There were two playoffs: Christine Huestis claimed the FP60 title after Deona Werth erased a two-stroke deficit in the finals; Gary Collier and Erik Tribelhorn were tied entering Sunday and it finished that way after regulation. Collier took the MA50 title on the second playoff hole.
John Borelli in MA55
- Two divisions were tied entering Sunday, MA55 and MA60, and finished close. John Borelli kept it clean over the middle part of the round for a two-stroke win in MA55 and Ron Smith had six-straight birdies on back nine to win in MA60.
- Other closes divisions included Barnett in MA40 after a strong push from Justin Liddell. Alexandria Sanchez held on to a wire-to-wire win on FA50 but it got close late with Shawna Pond closing the gap to two strokes.
