I just found an Element X and a Blaze online in a champion style plastic. Any chance of getting some more discs run in that material dave. I played Innova Champion discs for so long and grew accustomed to the feel and texture. Looking forward to getting my hands on em when I get em. Let me know!

Once we get our putters ran for the spring we will start on some translucent mid-ranges and will probably do some Sabres and Blazes.
Do players really want the discs clear or just CE ( clear evolution)/ Champion type plastic that is tinted.

Dave, in regards to running more translucent plastic...I think some of the best feeling discs you ever had were those totally clear sabres run in 2005. I have a variety of translucent discs that have been run since, but the grip on those clear ones was incredible. While I'm impartial about the clear vs. opaque discussion, the feeling of those discs is what I think you should strive for.
stpitner
Mar 05 2008, 07:29 PM
I think a lot of people like the clear/slightly opaque type color on their disc. However, it would be immediately associated with Champion/Elite-Z/etc. If that is a plus for the plastic, then go for it - it's great for dyes especially when completely clear or white.
I know that I would immediately start carrying them if made, but I'd really like to see a consistent line of stuff start to be made. It would be nice to see a line of product (eg. clear evolution) be produced that I know I could order and stock today and at the same time know that a year or two from now I'll be able to order and stock the same stuff to continue making it available to customers.
I love that day-glow color (yellows, pinks, oranges) that really shine in the twilight hours. They always look awesome in the clear/tinted type plastic.

Hey Dave, I just got this white E Sabre in a trade not too long ago and I have a question about the plastic. All E plastic I've felt is pretty stiff, but this E Sabre is really flexible, and gummy. Is this from a particular run or do some E discs just come out this way?
readysetstab
Mar 08 2008, 05:54 PM
there are a few runs of more flexible plastic. i prefer the more flexible plastic in everything except spirits and wizards. it's great for sabres. the run you have is most likely an attempt to copy the milkies from a while back. not quite successful, but i still like the plastic that resulted.
the pearly sabres from a fairly recent run are the easiest flexible sabres to find. if you like them flexy look for those..
Smokey102977
Mar 09 2008, 03:14 PM
The pearlized Sabre and Blaze are my favorites. I do have a pearl Spirit, Element, and Element X and love them. They are really grippy and flexible. I have not seen them take much damage. They may be a little less stable than the original but more than make up for that with a predictable flight.

There will be SSS magics and glow magics along with a lot of Wizards and Warlocks in all flexes.
We will have tye dye shirts and other apparel.
we do have some other new stuff in the works like some CE Assasins ( clear evolution) and may get it ran in some of our other molds.
we will be set up at White park all weekend doing ring of fires and giving away merch!
Right now we are in the middle of the putter runs and running new stuff is second fiddle until we are done.

It has a 2006 Trojan Park Corps of "Disc"overy Grand Opening stamp on it and is nearly as flexible as Discraft's FLX line. The only thing it says regarding a model is "High Speed Driver" underneath.

its really weird,,,,I dont think we did the stamping on that disc as I have never seen the stamp before in my life.
I know all you Gateway guys are patiently awaiting clear stuff, but we are up to our ears trying to get stores stocked up with putters. The magic auto ship is going out tomorrow and then we have the thumbtract VOODOO we will start working on soon.
tonight we prototyped some clear E in the Sabre, but they were not as soft and flat as I think players are wanting.
with Urethane the material has to be just right as blending makes the discs cloudy and not clear!
We did have good luck running an organic material ( corn based bio-polymer) blended with some recycled rubber.
This run of GREEN ( literally,, the color of the run was green) eco-friendly Wizards are $$$$$$.
I think the starch based material has a great feel to it and the recycled rubber is what we use in the eraser putters.
We will be working on a hot stamp for our green polymer line. ( maybe even another contest)

Dave, I'm glad you're giving that non-petroleum based stuff a try. I saw a piece about that product on TV and wondered if any of our industry guys are using or trying it yet. The carbon footprint of that stuff is way smaller than standard plastics according to the show, and the production plants aren't horizon-dominating ugly masses, either. I should have guessed you might be the first to give it a try!
I'm a little concerned about "green" discs in color, though. Besides black and clear discs, those are among the hardest to find.
I hope the product works well.

I am just curious about the Element.
The Gateway S plastic is BY FAR the best base plastic out there. Nothing else even comes close. Every time I try to go back to DX or D I just find the discs do not hold up. My latest 12X KC Rocs glide very nicely and have a much better feel than the old KC Pro Rocs. The only problem is that they have HUGE chunks taken out of them already.
Anyway...
My S plastic discs are simply superior. The S Wizards, Warlocks and 1080 Radius putters wear in a very similar way to the old Discraft Elite plastic. This plastic takes as much abuse as nearly anything on the market and still has that wonderful "cheap plastic" glide.
How does the Element and Element X fly in compare to the good DX Rancho Rocs?

there is a firmer run, they are more of a mint green.
Jeremy may have some, did you ask him yet?
anyway this is just the first few prototype runs of the organic.
Is it the flex you are not into or the surface?
Most players that have them or felt them really like the grainy feel to the surface, similar to chalky prototypes, without the residue.
The discs are very durable and seem to be a little overstable as are most of the softer runs of Wizard.
anyway if you have some suggestions for future runs, they are always welcome!

no beef with the surface, it may be my favorite surface to date
the flex is just a little tooo much for me.
i also really like the simple stamp on them as well
perhaps a sweet new stamp is in order for the organic plastics
i also noticed that the inside of the rim (the part perpendicular to the flight plate)is somewhat convex
i hope there are more runs of the organic plastic because i think its super cool

Greetings Dave,
I got an organic green wiz from rusco at dynamic discs. I really really like the plastic but wish that it was a little firmer. Are you going to run more of these? and is there anyway to make it firmer?
o yea they smell real nice too
there is a firmer run, they are more of a mint green.
My suggestion is to throw some in my box if it was lost in the shuffle of BG & Ozark! LOL :D:D

Dave, I wanted to thank you for a great weekend and a great event. A lot of people were wondering what shape the course would be in to play; I thought it looked very nice. Some of the teepads could be a bit flatter, but all and all, the course looked fantastic. I wish I could have shot better the 2nd round at Ozark, but if you don't keep it in the fairway, I guess that's what happens to you :). I was really impressed with Akita's Run; very similar to some of the technical courses that I played in Iowa aside from #11 on that bluff (great looking hole, btw).
I was wondering if it would be possible to post Nikko's scorecard from the 2nd round. George said he just kept in in the fairway and didn't need to throw insane shots to post that insane score. At lot of us traveling home that night just shook are heads at a 60 on that course.

Apr 22 2008, 09:29 AM
I'll try and get Nikko's scores from that round posted on the Ozark Thread.
It seemed the ratings are a lot lower than I though they would be for all 3 rounds. I guess its because there were not so many 1000 rated players at the event.
They are only giving 5.5 points per stroke on Ozark, is this the lowest points per stroke that have ever been issued?

I've known Jim Kenner for quite a long time and over the years have had discussions on the possibilities for them to do some of our molding for us.
My real passion has always been the Course design and installation thing, and I felt if I could get someone as knowledgeable as Jim and Mike at Discraft to mold for us I could have the time to put a lot more courses in the ground.

Hi
I don't usually post unless I have something useful to say, but this time I'll make a comment.
You aren't really going to refer to your clear evolution plastic as CE, are you?
If so, please reconsider. That abbreviation is already taken by the best plastic ever produced, champion edition. There will never be a champion edition type plastic again, because no company wants to produce an unbreakable disc (hurts sales).
I say this as the only person in my area that uses Wizards, and would never use another putter. ever.
but dont use ce to refer to any disc besides champion edition.
Thanks - Bg

I don't believe Dave is going to call the new blend of plastic "CE". Most people on the discussion board equate clear or champion like plastic as "CE" and its just easier to identify what run of discs they are referring to like the ICE Spirits or ICE Sabres by calling them "CE". Im sure Dave will come up with a new name for the plastic or just call it Evolution Pro Line like he has been doing.
gdstour
Apr 25 2008, 10:34 AM
Actually Evolution Pro line which is pretty much like star, is often mistaken as a lower quality plastic ( BY NAME) because Innova uses the term pro line for the 3rd tier of plastic.
We will be removing pro line from our marketing on the evolution line, but haven't yet decided on what we WILL use to go along with Evolution , if anything.
We do plan on producing Clear Evolution and have been running some prototypes.
We will have a name we use for marketing on the discs, but I doubt it's really going to be CE! ( that was just a reference)

The biggest complaint I've heard is about the plastic. Everyone thinks it's too hard (forgetting that it's really durable).
I have a 'soft' wizard, and many people say it's too hard for them. Even the supersoft wizards aren't as soft as a JK Pro aviar. I have yet to try to SSS wizard, but maybe I should.
My ideal putter? A wizard that is as FIRM as the one I have, but is TACKIER. If mine were a little tackier, I would be happy, but the softer ones are a little floppy for me.
Exposure in my area? Remember I used to work at the coop and ordered from you, and they sold well. I have since gotten another job, and the guy working there now is sponsered by Innova, so now it's ALL Innova. It's lame, but I knew it would happen.
There is nowhere in town to buy anything besides Innova now.

Hey Dave Dick,
The voodoo will be a thumbtract putter engineered in design and shape for the organic polymer line.
We already have a new wing we haven't used yet, which is a complete radius with no bead, and wanted to have a new top to go with it.
Hopefully it will have the same stability as the Magic,,, maybe a little more resistance to turn with the same low speed fade!
We are still debating on whether to do a Rhino or GT style thumbtract first. Eventually we will have both and right now we are leaning towards the Rhino style first!
The details on raising Capitol for growth through a private stock offering are being developed. Right now we are trying to decide how important it will be to include Ozark mountain in this investment opportunity.
For long term investors it makes a lot of sense to buy the property and develop a recreational complex, but it could hurt short term profitability and their ROI.
We are considering 2 separate investment opportunities if we cant get a lease for the 240 acres.
We also have a chance at a few course management contracts in and around the ST Louis area.
Full details about the investment opportunity will be ready before Worlds!
Smokey102977

Sounds good! The Rhino track is the way to go, maybe add a secondary bead on the top of the disc that creates a groove for the thumb similar to the GT but more similar to the track of the Rhino.

They like the soft ones. For some reason almost all Memphis golfers prefer really soft putters. I've been using the magic for one disc rounds at a local 9 hole course and have loved the way it holds whatever line you put it on. I can't see it replacing my wizard as my primary though, but its got a spot in the bag.

Is there any disc golf discs made from the same plastic that the little flyer mini's are made of?
sure we have made discs in straight LDPE before, but they really dont hold shape so well ( think innova DX style plastic from 93-98)
Almost all "S" "D" and dx style plastic have weight filler in it if they are above 150 grams.
LDPE stands for low density poly ethylene and only weighs .89-.93 specific gravity, most golf discs need 1.2 in order for them to be anywhere near max weight and our putters need 1.4.
The plastic in the minis has no weight filler in it which is why I'm guessing it seems so different to you.
Typically straight LDPE ( no rubber - no weight filler) like that used in little flyers will not make a max weight discs unless its something like the Hydra or bull dog that has a thick flight plate and more mass.
Straight LDPE plastic will not make a very a durable golf disc in terms of rebound resiliency, but LDPE has really good impact resistance meaning it wont chip because it gives upon impact! The PP and TPE seems to make a better feeling golf discs than ldpe and ? in the (DX) in my opinion!
We have putters made with Poly-Propylene and rubber ( sames as our "S" sure grip plastic) that have no weight filler and they have that feel that you are looking for.
These discs weigh 105-140 grams.

Several weeks ago we exchanged e-mails concerning availability of purchasing some discs at a low price in order to conduct a disc golf demo with a local girl scout troop. The girls had a great time, went home with a disc and who knows, may even pick up the game. Thank you for your help. Due to the overwhelming amount of new players looking for sponsorship that have contacted us, we are taking our time in evaluating all of them, before adding players to the site.
I want to take this time to thank those who are trying to work Gateway into their games and would advise those interested in seeing our company grow to continue throwing the discs, ask questions and give us as much feedback as possible.
Just a reminder;
It is not required for players to use Gateway disc exclusively in order to get sponsored.
Different levels of Sponsorship are available for players who are just using Gateway putters and even for those who are using any of our discs.
Sponsorship is a form of marketing, advertising and promoting which includes much more than what discs are in your bag and how well you compete with them in events.
Traveling and playing in disc golf tournaments to promote your sponsor is getting quite expensive these days and there are many other ways a player can help expose players to our discs and services and that will help us gain market share right at their home course.
Contrary to popular belief being a great player doesn't always mean you are a great promoter and even beneficial to a companies marketing plan.
Conveying the message and technical information about our products to local players at leagues and minis has proven to be very successful in producing results and this doesn't have to come from someone who can throw 500' or make all of their 30 foot putts.
Like most things in life,,, you get out what you put in!
Also you never know what you can get out of life if you don't ask,,, if you don't ask you will never really know!
In other words if you have an idea on how you can help our company,, let us know!

...Sponsorship is a form of marketing, advertising and promoting which includes much more than what discs are in your bag and how well you compete with them in events....
This has my name written all over it! I'm a marketer by trade & a disc golfer by choice. My g/f called BS when I said I'm a marketer first & disc golfer second, well until disc golf pays my mortgage that's the order lol.
I play new courses & meet a handfull of new players just about weekly. Tourneys fill my weekends & casual rounds during the week or prior to events on new courses. I keep my old plastic in my truck to give to new players when I run into a group on the course that serves as my guide or if I see a family come in when I'm leaving & they dont have many discs or any at all (and are playing with frisbees) Growing the sport we all know & love should be a priority for us all. The more players, the more products, the more competition, courses, exposure, etc. Disc golf is growing today at an astronimcal rate & I'm very glad to be a part of it.
Kudos to Gateway for helping out the little guy :D

I really haven't thrown the Black ELX but for certain the Black Elements are the most over stable.
recent runs of Elements (both the firm and Gummy) are really straight stable and hold very tight lines of hyzer or turnover depending on nose angle, speed and spin.
we initially created the Element as a beginner friendly turnover mid-range and feel it works quite well, but apparently players are still looking for something with a little more resistance to turn without fading.
If you want an over-stable ELX any of the most recent runs Orange or white should be over stable enough for mid-range control shots that require a little fade. It's not the kind of OS that you can reverse a lot and have it come back out but if it is flying flat it will surely fade some at the end.
If you need something more over stable we always have the DEMON and the BLAZE that can work quite well as over stable mid-ranges!
We have plans for a new top for the Element and ELX wing/bottom,,, that will be blunt above the parting line like the ELX but still round as it makes the transition to the flight plate like the Element.
It will have a thinner flight plate and combined with the added mass on the nose, should be a lot more gyroscopic and similar to a 1st run BUZZZ.
In other words a beefier flying element with more resistance to turn and more fade thats slower then the ELX and feels wider on the rim.
It should be really sweet in the S plastic for players who like firmer grippy matted plastic for their mid-ranges.

I got to play with Kevin Rarick this weekend, and he had one of the newer runs of elements in his bag. It was purple, domey, stiff, and a thing of beauty. He said they were stable, and they looked a lot like the old stiff black ones from 2005 or so, which are the best run I've ever thrown.
I took the Element out of my bag this year because I like to stick with 1 large diameter midrange mold and the Element just didn't cut it for hyzers. I loved how they flew for straight and anhyzer shots, so these newer runs combined with some of my nice gummy Nike elements may kick the Rocs back out!

Gateway Open:
I am working on an event at Centralia, might have the Gateway open there the the 1st week in September 6&7, if not maybe 2 courses at Sioux passage

David, question about some Demons I have. I have this orange one with a very concave wing, and the disc flies dead stright, very little fade. I also have a red one, but the wing is flat/convex and it's very very overstable. Arent they supposed to be the opposite? Or have I simply switched the terms? Also, why are the two wings different anyway?

Those are the proto's and they fly the best out of all the Diablo's. At first they're going to fly either dead straight with a little fade, or turn with a little fade depending on how much power you have. But once you get them slightly broken in, start throwing them as hyzer flip discs and these discs will BOMB!

its like all the Gateway/Quest dimple discs... 80% power will get you 120% Distance. If you overpower these (T-Bone, Diablo are waht I throw) they will indeed do nothing but flip.

I like the 4 deep water bottle holders, 2 on each side ( 2 of them zippered) and all the storage the tour and player give you with the 2 big 3"X 13" X 13" on each side. it has a putter pocket on the inside and one on the outside that holds 2 discs.

This bag is really comfortable on the back and great for those up north, NE, NW or in the Mountains where the weather can change quickly and they need the extra storage areas for adding or removing layers during the round.
The 4 water bottle holders and 2 large 3" X 13" X 13" compartments on each side can also be used to hold up to 8 extra discs!
Straps are very adjustable to make the bag fit your back just where you like it and theres always the chest strap when you've BOMBED a big drive!

Here's my intitial thoughts:
- could the two open bottle holders be alligned similar? ie both toward the back? Would help with balance when packing 2 - 32oz Gatorades
- Insulate the open bottle holders or all 4? ( I carry a frozen water occasionally & it would stay that way longer)
Other than those couple observations it looks pretty sweet. & when can I get one!!!

It appears to have the corregated plastic as the internal frame. Make sure the corners that would be at the base of the frame (closest to the ground) are rounded. I have a Gorilla Boy bag that has the same type of plastic and it had sharp edges that cut through the bottom of the bag. I've stitched it up a couple of times already. I would also agree that the drink holders need to align with each other across the bag. I can see the benefit from alternating to allow for the weight to be closest to you if you were only using one or the other, but functionally and asthetically they might be better aligned if you were carrying multiples. I could see the zippered ones as key and change holders for sure. Looks like a great bag.
Also, is he holding the bag up? I have a friend that has a revo backpack bag that the top pulls away from his shoulders and his discs look like they are going to come out sometimes. This might occur with all backpack styles I'm not for sure.
I wish I was good enough to play in crocs and not twist my ankles. :)

Where the main zipper is to the compartment area, you could possibly line the inside with some felt that way people could hold some smaller things inside like keys, wallets, minis, etc so they could use the side pockets for more discs.

Jul 03 2008, 11:16 AM
I like the zipper bottle pockets for rolling up extra towels or a windbreaker/rain jacket. A valuables felt lined pocket would be a good addition also, maybe under the flap on the upper portion of the back support.

We did run some prototype E Magics a few weeks back and some are pretty firm in flex, but not too many.
We will eventually have E magics in our regular inventory, I'm guessing most runs will be on the softer side though.
We are still deciding on whether or not to offer a range of flexes in our E other than HI-FLEX!
BTW,
We have runs of Medium "S" Magics that are in the 10 range of our flex, that could easily be called firm. I think they are mostly Orange or red/orange in color.

I know I'm a little behind the times, but I'm really impressed with the Warlock. I used to throw Wizards, but I always had to find the flattest ones that shrank the most b/c my smaller hands have a tough time with big beads. Even then I ended up moving on because the Wizard's giant bead would come out of my hand sloppy once or twice a round. The other putters I tried were not as good plastic or flight wise, but a clean release is the most important thing. I tried the magic when it came out, but I didn't like the grip (too top heavy in my hand). Last week I bought a Warlock and it is perfect. I love the plastic--Stiff with a little give in the middle and a rubbery grip. For me it flies better than the Wizard with a cleaner release. It is stable even if I really lay on it, yet has a straighter overall flight characteristic than a Wizard. The Buzzz is my favorite disc, and excuse my cross-brand comparisons, but to me the Warlock is like the Buzzz of putters (beadless, flat, slightly overstable). Gateway is back in my bag now. Please don't let the Warlock slip into obscurity b/c of the all time popularity of the Wizard and the new magic craze.
gdstour
Jul 11 2008, 03:45 PM
Its good to hear the magic is working for you and your description of the flight characteristic is very accurate.
I would say the Warlock is really close in flight to a Wizard without the bead and the Magic has a noticeably different flight!
Because of the way I grip the disc for putting, I can barely tell the difference in the 3, except for the nose of the Magic is more blunt.
I pick up stacks of putters at the factory all the time which have all 3 models and the widest range of flexibilities you could imagine, but the only real difference I can tell when throwing a 30 foot putt is in the weight of the discs. If I pick up a 165 it usually comes out a little late and goes to the right.
Its not like it turns over or anything but it ends up to the right of the basket.
Good thing about our putters is we make all 3 discs in a range of 4 flexibilities ( at least) which should just about cover all the bases when it comes to putting, laying up and driving off the tee with a P&A shaped disc.

I putt with Warlocks, 1 glow and 1 SSS. I also put with a glow magic and the chalky black. These discs are so easy to throw with confidence. I use the glow warlock for a midrange instead of my buzz on alot of occasions. When I play a 1 disc round, I use the Warlock. It is definately one of the best discs out there.
KevinRarick
Jul 11 2008, 10:25 PM
Gateway putters are the best mids in the game. I rarely ever pull out a midrange disc, unless I'm playing a well designed course with par 4s and 5s, in which you actually can throw a 400 foot drive and then have to throw a midrange to the green. Even then the wizard is the perfect approaching disc.
gdstour
Jul 12 2008, 12:17 PM
It does seem as though the Warlock is getting overlooked because of the recent popularity of the Magic and the demand for the Wizard is at an all time high and growing every week!.
All 3 of the discs ( Wizard, Warlock and Magic) have slightly different flight characteristics when thrown over 60 feet and I feel they compliment each other nicely for approaching and off the tee.
For putting I think its just a matter of grips, hand size and putting technique's that have players migrating to one over the other.
Rumor has it we will have a small bead on the Voodoo ( think small bead Wizard wing) to go along with the thumb track top, but we are going to wait until we get out a new driver and a mid-range before we release another model of putter.
this will give us the ability to use the small bead wing on the current putter top as well.
I could also see putting a bead on the Magic as well sometime down the road, maybe even increasing the blunt edge as well to make it even more gyroscopic!
I have noticed how easy it is to throw the magic for 60-100 foot shots without having to worry about it fading!
This makes The Magic a really great disc for beginners, because it holds the spin longer!

Since I have gotten the Magic I have learned how to throw controlled upshots and my game has benefited from it.
I went from about a 910 rating average to over 950 now for a couple months straight. Once I learned to have some touch, now I am also able to control my other mids and putters better than ever.

Dave -- hard to tell from what's been posted, but are any of the pockets completely waterproof? Since many of us are apt to keep playing in poor/rainy/snowy conditions, a pocket that was completely water safe for our cell phone/car keys/iPods/etc... would be a great feature to have. As it is, with my current backpack, I keep a waterproof ziploc in there for my valuables when the weather is looking grim.
Also, was thinking about names. I don't have any that I love yet, but the idle ideas were:
* The Hole (Whole) Package (bad pun, but I like bad puns)
* Plenum Bag (plenum is the opposite of vacuum -- it means complete, full, whole), and kind of has a nice ring to it.
* or, if you were including a waterproof compartment, and wanted to feature the waterproof/weather resistant elements of the bag, as well as it's size, I have always loved the name Leviathan. I would buy and proudly wear a Leviathan Back Pack.
Leviathan is my favorite idea by far, but it would really need to hinge on some kind of water/weather tie-in as well as size to make the name work.

Jul 18 2008, 06:32 PM
Typically any Gateway disc with a QC( We get QC by faster cycle times or dropping the discs in water or both!) on the back will have a higher dome, less concave on the wing as well as less deflection angle from nose to bead ( bottom edge).
Some times the wings will even get puffy!
All 3 of these will make a disc less over stable from "launch climb' to glide and fade.
Launch climb is the ability to make a disc climb from hyzer to flat or even to an under stable glide.
Launch climb is usually effected most by the deflection height from nose to bead,
Concaved wings also add resistance to the climb and eventual turn, but even if this wing shape is flat, transition height will be a huge factor.
gdstour
Jul 18 2008, 06:39 PM
QC lets a disc cool to shape outside of the mold. This reduces transition height and the additional shrinkage outside the mold allows for the nose to draw closer to the bead ( or bottom).
The less the transition height, the easier or faster air passes under the disc ( especially towards the spin side) creating more lift on the side away from the spin side.

Hi David,
Which of the SSS runs are first runs for all the putters?
White for Wizards, Light Blue for Warlocks and Magic?
the White Wizards with the $$$ stamp were the first runs, which are no where mear as flexible as the surrent SSS Wizards
There were 2 different runs of $$$ warlocks, but were blue with one being quite gummy and shiney and the other a little more matted. TI think the gummy was more of a carolina blue and the matted closer to Dodger blue.
As far as SSS magics go, the st runs were white but there was only about 20 made! I think the next run was Orange, I'm not sure there are any SSS magics, have you seen some?

QC sounds interesting. Are you (GDS) the only disc manufacterer that uses QC method?
Most likely yes,
Its a bit of a hassle and you have to make sure the discs don't warp against each other in the water and you also need to dry the water off of each disc.
The Illusions are really the only discs where we have QC'ed more than a few dozen as we do anything we can to get the nose to bead reduced in the Illusion that gets that big late surge of distance, Typically we will QC about 25% of each run of Illusions with it being more effective in the E than the S!
There are a lot of WIDgets made in injection modling that are dropped in Water and at times a part will be placed on a fixture and dropped in water to help it retain its shape and keep it from shrinkage and warping out side of the mold.
If you can cut a 40 second cycle time down by 10 seconds you can get 1 more part for every 3, thats a 25% increase in production.

I have a question regarding Warlock plastic. I am using S Warlocks and they are very rubbery and tacky, yet feel very solid (some are soft, yet stiff in the rim). Is this a newer blend? Will we see more Warlocks like this and perhaps other putters? Is it an H/S type blend?

I have recently acquired an older wizard in this plastic. I've been a medium and glow guy for a long time, but these putters are a good combination of grip and firmness.

Without seeing a picture of the disc or a description of the hot stamp and engraving on the back, its impossible to tell you.
The method of mixing each batch to get the right flex and weight is a very challenging task (a cross between math, science and art) and will always produce runs of discs in between the 2's,4's, 7's and 9's.
Here's what we want players to know about our putters.
Gateway Putter flexibility document:
Here are Gateway we manufacture and Market a WIDE range of flexibilities and surface grips for our PUTT and APROACH discs, ( Wizard, Warlock and Magic)
Our manufacturing techniques have come from over 10 years of extensive R&D producing the BEST polymer blends for golf discs in the industry. Hopefully we have produced something special that meets your needs as an individual customer.
If you are very particular or looking for something specific, the best case scenario is to get in front of a large selection and flex around on them a bit to find that perfect one. Everyone seems to like something different, which is why we make so many different types of putters. If Gateway putters are not available in your area, please ask your local dealer to contact us or contact us directly and we will try and get their location set up.
An IMPORTANT note: The marketing of our putter variations is not just based on flexibility , but also on surface complexion and surface Hardness!
Even though we only state 4 flexibilities in our marketing materials, SSS (Super-Stupid-Soft), SS (Super-Soft), Soft and Medium), We actually produce runs that have a range of more like 1-10.
Heres a rundown on the differences we offer:
A 1 is the softest surface and floppiest we make (think ssss),,, though most SSS we make, we shoot for are 2).
An SS is a 4, a Soft is a 7 and a Medium is a 9 which wont really flex that much unless you really apply pressure (1/2 of the Ms are probably closer to a 10 for players that just like firm discs).
There are many runs that fall in between these target numbers like 1,3, 5, 6 and 8.
Again our marketing of SSS, SS, Soft and medium is not only flex, but surface complexion.
There are formulas that we use when shooting for lets say,,, a 4 (Super Soft) and within in each class there is at least 1 polymer that is proprietary to that particular class.
A Medium has a % of a talc filled polypropylene (PP), a soft has a % of a regular PP, the SS has no PP and a SSS has no PP and a soft rubber TPV or TPE less than 70 A shore.
All recipes for production runs have 2 materials in common, a 90A shore TPV that is compounded with a mineral which is the concentrate that makes the discs heavy and a non mineral filled 80A shore TPV that weighs .93 that is the base.
The concentrate weighs over 2.0 density and the target for a 175 putter would only be 1.4 density.
PP weighs .90 and the talc filled pp weighs 1.7.
The method of mixing each batch to get the right flex and weight is a very challenging task (a cross between math, science and art) and will always produce runs of discs in between the 2's,4's, 7's and 9's.
The one GREAT thing about dry blending our batches as opposed to having a master batch produced for us for each flex, is the fact a dry blended match allows the softest of the materials to migrate to the surface of the part.
So in all 4 flexes, Medium, Soft, SS and SSS, regardless of the flex, the softest material will migrate to the surface making for soft, tacky, grippy discs even if they are not that flexible.. The SSS has no PP added and a rubber that is less than 70 a shore which not only makes it softer in the surface but the most flexible as well.

Long time wizard user here, I've recently decided on my favorite wizard for putting.
Looks like this
http://i1.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/f0/60/5d59_2.JPG
Is 167, stiff yet tacky and super money. It feels sorta like the black plastic used on the larger part of a GGGT stash mini.
Umm... I guess I just wanted to say thanks for making them and I will buy a stack when I find one.

No doubt; firm flight plate, but velvety grip. Me like.
