I've started a new thread for Live Oak and Universal City, Texas. For some reason I can't read the other thread and my account has been deleted. Maybe it will be put back today, I don't know. Was I bad?

Anyway, the old thread was over 400 pages long, so it's time we start a new one. This is where I'll post LODGA news, and of course you guys can trash talk each other over here too :D

Right now I'm bohdi, If I get reinstated, I'll be BOHDI. I feel so violated :(

PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE

Purpose: The purpose of this meeting is to receive citizens input and comments on schematic plans for a disc golf course at Pearsall Park.

When: 6:30 pm Monday, November 8, 2004

Where: Millers Pond Community Center, 6175 Pearsall Road

They want disc golfers there, so if you can make it, please do. I'll be going. I have been asked to design the course, and they have allocated a lot of $$ to do it right.

Oct 20 2004, 11:34 AM
16, Chris, so it looks like you're playing free tonite! But look out, I found my putt, and actually its partly due to you. I was blowing by the basket with my scoobie putt like you said, and then I went home and after crying my eyes out, I relaxed and took some of the heat off my putt. 37 birdies, 2 bogies, and 33 pars later at Waterloo I say it's a success! So bring your game big boy!

Ladies Night was very hot and humid. I almost cancelled due to bad hair and frizz but we stuck it out and finished. Our clinic did not take place this week and will take place next week. Laura Baby Lou Karshis, Dora Dora the Explora Guzman and Jibber Jabber Jennifer Morales all played well. Laura came in first place and chose a disc donated by Dave Moody and Jennifer won the ctp and chose a Breast Cancer Awareness towel. Thanks Ladies!!!!!

The last Ladies Night will take place on Thursday Oct 28 because I am going to the Avril Lavign concert. :D

We will then take a break for two weeks and restart the Ladies Night on Saturday afternoon following the Live Oak mini. I guess we might have to change the name to Ladies Day or something. Hope to see you there.

Oct 20 2004, 03:57 PM

I saw a news flash that said Bohdi was "lost" or had been "discontinued" or something to that effect. I just figured he is now in a different realm, that he vaporized after his torrid play this weekend.

I also notice that Wonder Woman has changed. Bohdi's searing heat is creating ripple effects. :)

I thought Jody was watching the path of his disc. Oh no, he can't be, his eyes are closed. Kind of like the way he plays. Maybe he is praying. About the only thing that will help his game. Oh look at his poor hand, two fingers must be broke and look at how his thumb sticks out there. I don't see how the poor boy can play. Oh well he trys. What's up with all you chicken heads in Live Oak Land! I miss you guys and being near that beautiful course. Fort Puke(oops Polk) has little to offer as far as disc golf is concerned. Shreveport about two hours north is the closest with two real nice courses. I highly recommend them if your ever in the area. I will be taking the trip to Houston for the states so I hope to see some of your smiling faces out their. I am signed up for the new Pro 2 division, but apparently nobody interested in playing in this division with me. So, either I move up and get schooled (but feel kinda cool) or move down to advanced and take out Vargas. Hmmmmm! Sorry for all the jibber jabber. Hope you all are doing well!!!

LIVE OOOOOOOAK!!!!

Live Oak is coming up this weekend with sanctioned singles on Saturday and the unsanctioned Big Money Doubles Series on Sunday. Early registrations are going great and with the $445 carry over ace pot from the first three DiscGolfStore.com GCCS events, the ace pot should be close to $750 for the day!

For anyone who needs a hotel for the night, the Comfort Inn has rooms ranging from $59 to $69 depending on Triple A membership etc. I am told it is very nice and has a free breakfast and a pool. (Phone # 210 659-5851, 200 Palisades drive, 78148, Directions from I-10 from Houston, take 1604 right/north, go 7 miles and turn right on Palisades and you are there - - the internet maps steer you wrong apparently).

Directions to the course: NE of San Antonio on I-35, take Judson Rd. or Toepperwein exit to Leafy Hollow Dr, which leads into City Park. 1st tee at the end of park road.

Tournament central will be set up in the pavilion near hole 1.

Hope to see you all there!

Hitchcock Report

The last DiscGolfStore.com Gulf Coast Championship Series event in Hitchcock went great with 65 players on a pretty day. A huge thank you goes out to the local Brooks players who helped set up the course and coordinated the 3 extra holes. Over the first three events we have had 112 different players and we have not even started the swing over to Victoria, Round Rock and Live Oak.

We have had some confusion with the players packs. Each AM at EVERY event gets a players pack. Please see us during lunch or after the second round to pick it up at each event. These packs are available through the generous donations of our donors and raffle ticket sales.

In the Open division, Alex Huges drove over again from Austin and took the division by one over local pro Michael Ynfante by one shooting a 119. The big story of the day came from the Advanced division where Brian Boo Pearson beat not only the Advanced division, but EVERY division with a smoking 115 on the day. The estimated ratings for Boos rounds came out to 989 and 991. Matt Hall (121) and Keith Vest (124) took second and third.

In the Advanced Masters division Cecil Larkin (130) came from 4 strokes back to beat Steve Dufrane and Jake Walsdorf by two. DeAtra Edwards (151) won the Advanced Womens division and Jenn Daigle (170) took the Recreational Womens division.

Intermediate was won by Marty Cooper (129) by two over Jaymie Perry and James Bailey. Jaymie had the hot round of the day in the division with 61 during the 2nd round but it was not enough to come back for the victory. The large Recreational division was won by Dan Showman (133) by three over Russell Carmichael and five over Steve Bachtel.

Thank you to everyone who came out!

He is doing better Brian but there is a lot involved that is still critical. Doctors are still working on him. We decided to have him move in with us and if you want to call him or see him you are more then welcome. PM me and I will give you his cell number or my home number. Unfortunately he won't be playing disc for a while. Anyway, thanks for asking. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Does anyone know the name of the dye they use to dye discs? And where you can buy it? Is it "rit" (sp?) dye, or something like that?

sciencet_cher
Oct 28 2004, 01:00 PM
It is rit dye that some people use, you can get it at HEB, Wal-Mart or other similar places.

jocur
Oct 28 2004, 01:43 PM
Has anyone done any dying before? I want to give a shot. Any pointers? Anyone?

Nelle 18131
Oct 28 2004, 01:47 PM
I have dyed with RIT before and you boil the disc in it. Trial and error is how we learned. Contact paper, exacto knife and rit. Put like a tablespoon of dye in a measuring cup and fill the rest with water. Then put it in a shallow pan and bring it to boil and put your disc in, leave some contact paper so you can pick it up out of the water. Keep it in there for about a minute or longer, you can keep checking it until you get the color you want.

jocur
Oct 28 2004, 01:52 PM
does boiling it warp the disc at all?

Nelle 18131
Oct 28 2004, 01:53 PM
No not when you just leave it in for about a minute or two. And just the top of the disc, let it float.

mistuhmiles
Oct 28 2004, 03:32 PM
i normally leave it in for about 5 minutes. after you take it out make sure to wash it off with cold water. it lets the plastic contract and hold the dye.

The last Ladies Night on Tuesdays this year was such a blast. Laura Karshis, Jennie Cashdollar, Jennifer Morales, Jaimee Curtis and myself all enjoyed a beautiful night in Live Oak.
We gave away two entries to the GCCS.
The first one was awarded by drawing names and was donated by the Ladies of Live Oak and John Gimp Edwards.

JAIMEE CURTIS was glad to recieve this donated entry but has decided to plan for her wedding which is less than a week away. Where are her priorities???? :D:D

I will let you know who gets the entry soon.

The next entry was donated by Robbie "Rooster" Cooper. We did something fun with this one and while we were playing, the ladies played "skins" for more chances to win. At the end of the night the ladies had mulitple chances to win if they played well. So now the ladies know a little something about the side games that are played along with disc golf.

LAURA LOU KARSHIS is happy to receive the entry donated by Rooster Cooper!!!!!!

GOOD JOB GIRLS. The LOLO'S will be in full force this Saturday. FIVE Ladies of Live Oak will be playing. I am so happy. You girls make me proud.

Thanks so much to all the people who have helped us out with this. It really means a lot.

Thank you for the entries John Gimp Edwards, Lolo's and Robbie Rooster Cooper.

We had some GREAT Houston representation over in Live Oak! We had over 16 Houston area players in town for the show.

What can we do to get some of yall to play the series? With an event in Round Rock the third week in January and Victoria (or as Vinnie would say it Vinnietoria) coming up December 4th, those are two very easy stops to hit to qualify for the finale in April. We will have FAT payout for qualifiers at that finale (not T-Ten fat, but HUGE none-the-less), and you can also hit the c-tier sanctioned BMDS final the next day.

This is not even taking into account the MacGregor qualifier the 2nd weekend in January, the Katy Crosspoint qualifier two weekends from now and the Pleasure Island qualifier in February. For anyone who has never played P.I., you are really missing out. A very pretty, VERY fun course

All the qualifiers will remain over 100% payout for AMS with the players pack and the finale will be over 100% payout event even if you DONT qualify for the bonus payout. If you need to come on the cheap let me know and Ill try to find yall a place to stay.

Shoot me an email if you have any suggestions for drawing some Live Oak folks to other events. With such a cool course and cool locals, I have no doubt the series will continue to come to Live Oak.

Nov 02 2004, 05:33 PM

The Katy, CrossPoint stop is coming up next weekend for any Live Oakers that are not headed up to the T-Ten final. The is way on the west side of town, so it makes it even closer to Live Oak. It could easily be done in a drive in drive out way if you want to check out this new course.

I talked to the church today, the grass is going to be cut and the course is going to be groomed. Everything is going to look GREAT! We should have a group of new tournament players checking out the action as well which should be fun J

We will be adding three holes between the front and backside. Ill post directions and more specifics later in the week.
