Ok all you Disc Golfers that play at Live Oak its time to give back to the city that has given us two awsome course and have two more course in the works :D LETS MAKE THIS EVENT ONE THAT THE CITY WILL REMEMBER :D:D:D:D:D:D
To all my fellow discguffers-
On January 03, 2001, the City of Live Oak took a chance on me to help them bring their parks system to the forefront of municipalities. Fortunately, discgolf was part of the deal. Well, after 15 new holes, some blood letting, alot of sweat and maybe a tear or two (when I miss that 4') I have come to the decision that it is now time for me to step away from Live Oak. I will continue to support the cause and play every chance I get. I told some golfers a while back that preparing for a tournament was as much fun as playing. Your support has been tremendous. In the 14+ years in the business, I have never seen such a great relationship between the city and any sports association. After some time off, I will pursue other opportunities with some of our local communities and maybe, just maybe, with a little convincing, continue the drive for disc golf. My first day of "retirement" will be Jan. 4th, 2005. I might just have to be on the course that day, playing a little discgolf.

As an out-of-towner, thank you Joe for your work as LOPAR.
One of the better days of my short DG experience was in 2003, arriving at City Park on the Friday morning before LOSO and looking out on the freshly trimmed green grass of the front nine.
Thanks again for your work Joe. You will be missed.

Saturday, December 3. Signup by 9am, players meeting 9:30. Tee off right after SHORT players meeting
2 divisions: Amateur $7 and Open $10. Ams play for prizes, Open plays for cash. Every player gets a raffle ticket to win a disccatcher sport basket. We will not sell additional raffle tickets, sorry Dave $4 from the entry fee goes to the food drive, $3 from the entry fee goes to pay for the basket and prizes for ams. $3 from the pro entry fee goes to the payout. Depending on how much stuff gets donated, these figures may change and more $$ may go to the food drive.
Round 1 (12 holes TBD): Random Draw Best Shot Triples
Round 2 (12 holes TBD): Random Draw Alternating Triples
Break for lunch
Round 3 (9 holes TBD): Singles in divisions
Triples means 3 persons per team randomly drawn from all players entered, not by division, or 2 persons per team if there are left overs. We will redraw teams after each round.
Each players score is added for each round to determine the top 4 in each division. Ties for 4th decided by CTP.
Final Round 4 (9 holes TBD): Top 4 in each division play keeping total score. After 9 holes, sudden death occurs for ties.
There will multiple CTP's on the course during the best shot and singles round. CTP's by card. Everytime you get a CTP, you get another raffle ticket for the basket.
Cash/Prizes will be awarded to top four in am and top three in open.
Come help out a worthy cause, and spread the word, time is short! All canned food donations will be accepted!

Round 2 (12 holes TBD): Random Draw Alternating Triples
Can someone explain to me how this works?
I kind of have an idea but not sure.
seewhere
Dec 02 2005, 03:27 PM
not sure how the draw will work but somehow 3 people will end up making a team. than after the 1st thrower you continue to alternate each shot between all 3 players.
LouMoreno
Dec 02 2005, 03:31 PM
Yup. The 3 players take turns throwing in the same order. Whoever putts last, the next person tees off on the next hole.
Brian must've liked playing in the mix master at Teams. Not playing the mix master is the worst part of winning your pool. :)
losotd
Dec 02 2005, 03:50 PM
that is correct! We'll randomly draw creating teams of three, unless it's uneven and we need a team of two. Then that team will play alternating for 12 holes. It was a blast at Teams! I only got to drive once though in 9 holes, so I added three holes. Too much fun!!!
Remember every player gets a chance at the basket. There will also be CTPs and the closet on each card gets another raffle ticket giving them a slightly better chance at the basket. And best of all, Mr. Chris Himing will be in the house with cool stuff to sell! Let the Le Tour start now!
Laura12670
Dec 02 2005, 03:51 PM
That's what I thought, but how do you decide who throws first and 2nd and so on? Would it be better to have the best driver to throw first or last? I guess that would depend on who is on your card huh? :D
Thanks for the info Chris and Lou, first time playing this way and don't want to be that much of rookie. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
You guys coming down?

Dec 02 2005, 04:09 PM
at teams you have to announce your order prior to the first throw than stay in that order until you are done. I actually wrote the initials of the players names in order on the card somewhere.
also who throws first decides alot on what hole you start on.
you guys have fun I have to do the wife's front brakes tomorrow than Sunday is lago vista $250 plus ace pot.

Dec 02 2005, 04:11 PM
Sounds like a blast but I'm going to be grilling and watching lots of football on Saturday. If you're playing around the lake or the school area there in Live Oak, I'd expect some twos so the 3 person rotation of drive, upshot, and putt won't hold up. Hopefully you'll draw some cool partners. Have fun!

Big thanks to those who made the Lackland course happen. I got several chances to play it when I was in town for work recently. Very good signs made finding my way around easy and I got Ace #6 on the 111' hole. Number 4 I think and my first blind ace. The course design takes excellent advantage of the available terrain. :) I did a time and strokes round running it in 18 minutes with a score of 51 from the shorts for a total of 69. If any one else tries it, let me know how you did. Time and strokes is kind of a hobby for me.
