We will start at 9:30am, and then maybe get a round in that afternoon. Please let me know if you can make it. Bring weed whackers, shears, gloves, anything to help clear a whole lot of shule!

Well Bill, there is an old saying that goes like this...

:D You can't teach an old dog new tricks. :D

Of course when the person who penned this phrase said it he/she was referring to an Old Rec. Geezer named Dave...oh yea, same family. :o

Now ya'll be nice to Gatorputt...he's had a hard life, his daddy only lets him come out and play every now and then.

That is what most of your discs look like as they come out of your hand :D:D

Now, gatorpuke. I was trying to be nice to you and get Dave and Bill off of your back. :o I will not try to keep Jim away from you, I was taught to respect my elders.

Hey everybody check this out! Jimbob and I are going and want to see who else wants to come out to this great new park and help support Chris Himing!

Twin Parks Country Club presents
The Romeo Roundup Mini (it’s Valentines Day on Monday guys)
Saturday, February 12

Come out and enjoy the almost finished clubhouse. The Parkshire course is complete with cement tee boxes on all the holes and all pin placements. Plans are now underway for beautiful new tee signs and direction markers we hope will be ready for February 12.

We will be opening the Country Club to one and all on this day. No greens fees and no memberships required. Enjoy the day and see what Twin Parks Country Club has to offer, play the mini, have some lunch and drinks on us, and relax.

Over the coming months many exciting things are planned as the Clubhouse and Park Hill course are completed. In March a special fundraising event will happen, in April a super secret event, and then on May 21st the Texas 10 Charity Tour comes to town.

Bring your bike if you want as the mountain bike trails are coming along very nicely. For the more experienced riders you will want to check out the awesome downhill jumps trail. In the coming months a more beginner friendly trail will be built.

RT, been missing you on the course. Let me know if you head out there, I'll meet you there and we can throw a round.

Twin Parks has a thread under Courses and they have a web site at www.twinparkscountryclub.com. (http://www.twinparkscountryclub.com.) I have not been there yet, however I am looking forward to going soon. They are located east of Dripping Springs and west of Austin off of US290 at 1111 Hays Country Acres Rd.
I can see about three ways of getting there from here and I don't know which would be the best. You could take 281 N through Blanco and then 290 east past Dripping Springs or take I35 N to San Marcos and 12 up to Dripping Springs and then East on 290 or you could go all the ways to Kyle and 150 to 12 and then right on 290 to Hays Country Rd.
It looks like it is about 68 miles to Dripping Springs if you go through San Marcos and about 70 if you go through Kyle and about 74 if you go through Blanco. You might be able to cut across to 290 from Blanco on 165 and cut some miles and time off. Maybe someone that has been there already knows.
See you on the course.

We had a fun filled ladies day last Saturday. 10 women enjoyed a beautiful day of disc golf. It was quite windy but we stayed strong and finished the round. Laura Karshis, Jenn Morales, Julie Morales, Lisa Lewis, Steph McWhirter, Micheala Steel, Krista Bailey, Toni Schmidt, myself and DES READING!!! Oh ya, you read it right, former World Champ and two time US Womens Champion, Des Reading came and played with the LOLO's. We had a blast!!!!

Krista won the CTP prize donated by Des and Laura won the round and got a disc of her won also.

Thanks Ladies. Dont forget the Live Oak Ice Bowl Saturday January 29 benefitting the EDGE program.

Thank you Dave McKibbin for all of your support for the LOLO's. Dave donated $100.00 to the TWC and $50.00 to the LOLO's for the cost of traveling to the TWC.

However, after getting home and showering, I realized I wasn't going anywhere except my easy chair. Hope everyone had a good time and wish I could have been there. And about Sunday, maybe next time. Had a great time with some great people Saturday. Keep up the super job all those involved in keeping the park in such great shape. G'day my Live Oak friends. I just found out that you have a work day planned for Saturday. The Twin Parks opening mini is scheduled that day, bummer.

Brian is there any chance changing the work day to Sunday? I was hoping to have a large turnout of Live Oakers on Saturday.

If not I understand, work days are important. I could do with a large group of people here as well.

Whatever happens I know it will be sunny.

Feb 07 2005, 06:52 PM
I need to keep it on Saturday so UC will provide a chipper and an operator. They prefer their employees not work on Sunday, something about having to pay double time wages. Anyway, we only need about 10 to help out, so I doubt we will affect your turnout. If it rains, we will cancel the work day. We really need to get this done before the leaves start growing back in the spring ;)

Ladies,

We are having another clean up day at Universal City Park on Saturday at 9:30. If you can help it would be appreciated, bring rakes and shovels and trash bags if you have them. The regular Ladies day will take place as usual on Saturday Feb 12 at 12:30. We will play a casual round in the back. Bring your bags and good attitudes.

Also, the Texas Womens Championships is right around the corner. I would like to plan a Traveling Lolo's trip to check out the course. The estimated date is March 5th. It would be a one day trip and we would leave early in the morning and arrive back at home a little after dark. We will have a great time so don't miss out. We will be carpooling so not everyone has to drive. Let me know as soon as you can so we can plan properly.

ATTENTION ALL LOLO's: Please let me know ASAP if you plan on attending the Texas Womens Championships, Vinnie has posted the host hotel and we would like to reserve the room/rooms as soon as we can. Even if you have told me before, please confirm again so we know for sure how many rooms we will need. If two rooms are needed I would like them to be next to each other. The hotel is a Best Western for $59.99 a night, 6 miles from the course. It has a hot tub and pool, the rooms will have 2 queen size beds. With taxes and other fees for a room for four it would be about 16.00 per person per night. I am willing to PROMISE you will have a good time and a unique experience at this tournament. The more LOLO's the better.

Thanks Ladies,
Danielle

Feb 09 2005, 02:26 PM
Just a point on ratings. I think if you stay in rec your rating is very slow to rise due to the fact your playing less skilled players. Most people I have talked to think if you win one Rec you move up to Int. If you win 2 Int you should move up to advanced.

I joined the PDGA two months after being introduced to the game. I'm sick of meeting "rec" players who have been competetive for more than a year. The name of the division would be better served if it were "lacking defined skills".

I sometimes play well other times I don't. I won't play rec any more I would feel like a thief.

Recreational - available to amateur players of all ages with player ratings < 875. For beginning and casual players who are learning basic Frisbee and disc golf skills. Throw 175-300 feet, make 3-5/10 putts from 20 feet, can throw backhand with some accuracy. Score range: 63+

Intermediate - available to amateur players of all ages with player ratings < 915. Developing players who have played 2-3 years and are gaining consistency and experience. Throw 250-350 feet, make 5-7/10 putts from 20 feet, learning different shots. Score range: <63.

Questions for Dave:

How long have you been playing?

Have you learned the basic skills?

Are you a casual player?

I applaud all of you who are sacrificing playing in a MINI to help our cause.

Easy there Brian. :D You know I would be there to help if I could. As you know my "job" takes me out many weekends and other people made prior commitments in terms on travel arrangements.

Good job on all the work and changes at UC.

With all the work being done around Live Oak, UC, Austin, Dripping Springs disc golf is going great.

See you all soon. My best positive thoughts for clear weather all weekend. :D

Sounds like a great cause and Brian is right about the weekends running out. I will be there with the few non-electric tools that I have. I knew I should have bought a cordless reciprocating saw instead of that darned corded one!

The van down by the river needs a good geometry teacher. I am sure Jim and Dave can make some room for you

Now that's a hard decision to make...beautiful wife, soft skin, smells good and a warm bed..-vs-..hairy faced, burly old man and cold floor....no problem in that choice...I'll take the wife and kids.

And are you really playing Intermediate at the V-open? Just another victim.

Nobody playing OMB, I might switch if the division makes by the weekend. And your right, you'll be just another victim :o:D:cool:

Hey Jody,
I am afraid I have not moved into the van yet. There just isn't enough room until you move all your stuff out. By the way, why is it all the disc you play with have someone elses name on them. If you could place in a tourney you could get your own and wouldn't have to use someone elses. :D

I'm watching the weather reports close, if I need to cancel I'll post it here. If you PM me your phone number, I can call you Saturday morning, and let you know if we cancel. If you don't hear from me, we're still on.

The ladies day will take place as usual at 12:30 on Saturday. We will meet at the picnic table and play some of the back holes. If is it raining heavily at 11:30 in San Antonio we will not play. I don't want anyone having to drive all the way to Live Oak and then cancel it because of the rain. I know you ladies are smart enough to know when we will play and when we wont. If it is a slight drizzle, then I will be there. If it is a downpour, I will not.

There is a clean up day planned at Universal City Park on Saturday at 9:00. All help will be appreciated, bring gloves, shovels, rakes and wear long pants if you plan on helping out. These guys have always helped out the LOLO's so I would love to be able to say that we helped them out also. If it is raining in the morning they will also not be out there to help. If you plan on coming email me and I will give you directions to the clean up area.

Don't forget the Traveling LOLO road trip on March 5th to Round Rock. We are going up to check out and play the course before the TWC.

Don't forget your bags and good attitudes.

Maybe we could take the tree trimming equipment and the shredder and help clean up Dave. I'm sure will need a couple of hack saws and chain saws to get through that beard of his. We could have a Dave Work day. Have good weekend Mountain Man Dave. :D:D

Well, it looks like somebody else moved out of the van from under the bridge. Bill now lives in a hay field. What are you living in now, a haystack.

JODY, there is room in the van for you now. :D:o

Bill, great to see you back and tell Randall to come back and play a real sport.

ps..you are blessed to have a great supporting family.

Bill welcome back!! We need to talk PAINT for the Civilian/Military Tournament in June. When can we meet?

Feb 12 2005, 08:16 PM
Two down, three to go. Thanks to the brave and selfless souls who showed up to help today. Shawn H., Larry V., Keith B., Tracy O., Pete L., Turbo G., Brian P. and friend, John I, David M. and Wayne A. You guys rock! Nice 300 foot hyzer line thrown from a small hill.

Next Saturday @ 9:30 am, if you aren't going to Victoria, please come out and help us manicure this hole and start the next. Bring pruning sheers! No chipper next week. But the week after, we'll need more people to help feed the chipper. Don't be scared. Come on Live Oakers, get involved!
