Thanks Live Oak..got to play my first weekday mini of the year last night - FUN! Poor Danielle, stuck with me & was 1 inch high on a bunch of putts! (We almost had a smoking round!I just kept flying by on my pathetic putting attempts)
She also was witness to the inaugural flight of a beautiful PINK Orion that flew gracefully deep into the woods on hole_________? (down hill & long) Of course it is unmarked.
Not too many pink Orions out there so if ya see could ya hold it until LOSO?

Universal City will remove hole 18 in the next couple of weeks to make way for some oblong piece of cow flesh stadium... pop warner football style.

This Saturday at 7 AM, yes 7 AM, cuz it's really hot by 9 AM!, we'll start cutting a new hole in the back. We will quit by 9am and play some golf, or head over to Live Oak and play the mini. Rich can you give us an extra 15 minutes just in case??

Bring pruning shears, gloves, wear long pants and long sleeve shirts. We need all the muscles we can get!

Played this little 9 hole birdie course with teeth. Real nice, cart friendly, had a fun time. We will be going back forsure in the near future. If you haven't played it yet, it's worth a look see. I-10 to exit Ralph Fair ( past the Dominion), Right on Ralph Fair @ the Exxon, down about two miles, Left into Deer Meadow neighborhood ( real nice, remember we are guests ;) ) ,down about 1mile when you cross over the nice white bridge, look for a small dirt road on the left. It comes up quick and kinda sharp. Pull in and parking to the right. :cool:

Had a chance this weekend to play the new 4 holes behind 15. and I like them, the first one gives you a feeling of Sea Write ( don't know if that how they spell it ) and the last little one was a feeling of Waco up in the wooded area. nice holes Lopar. It gives a nice change to the w i d e open Live Oak everyone is use to. I can't belive RT took a two on the long one up there, well thats what I hear anyway. way to go RT

Just got out of the budget meeting with Council and aside from a few questions all went well. NOTHING was cut! Things could still change before the final vote in August, but I believe we will be ok. For you golfers, there HAS NOT been any discussions of removing the baskets or doing away with the course. As I have said recently, let's not give them or anyone else a reason to do away with the course. This is true for all communities that provide/support disc golf.

It has been raining here. Mostly in the afternoon. I have got to play two of the courses so far, The America Hotel course which is very tight and technical and the NAU course which is a little more open and has some longer holes. Going to play Thorpe later today and they say it is a technical course. I played NAU this morning and I bet I hit the basket at least 8 times on putts I would normally make. Got to get used to this altitude on my putts before Monday. We are enjoying ourselves and looking forward to Monday. Got the field events tomorrow which will be a lot of fun. Not as much as last year though without Randle to harrass me. See you all on the course.

Just finished second round (in the rain). We had about an hour delay during the round because of the rain and lightning. Got only one round tomorrow at 11:30. There is a two hour difference between San Antonio and here. It is difficult to sleep late since I am used to getting up at 5:30 and that means it is 3:30 here. Play a course that is longer and more open than the ones we played today. That is not good for me since I do not do as well on longer courses. Going to rest now. Talk later.
P.S. I am tied for second after two rounds, two out of first. Doing my best but these old guys are pretty good.

Having fun. Finally got a round in without any rain. However, the group after us had to be stopped and will continue tomorrow which will delay our 8:00 AM start. The only problem is they expect more rain tomorrow. Had a decent round today. I am playing pretty consistant disc golf. I have been able to screw up on at least two putts every round which can really hurt when you are playing at Worlds. The person that won last year had a real good round today and jumped up into first. Hanging in there and trying to stay close. May the force be with me. Signing off YODA! :D

Well I guess it is time to get the gun out. I played my usual fairly consistant round,but it wasn't good enough. I am glad we are done with the longer more open course now. Have three rounds left on tighter courses, so hope I can pick it up a little. I think my arm is about dead right now. My forehand shot that I depend on to get through trees isn't going any where. I am still doing my best and we shall see what happens. We are just hoping for no rain this afternoon, but it isn't looking good out right now.

Well they say no news is good news. So here is the news in case you have not looked at the scores yet. I shot terrible. At least the last two holes. I had a 6 and a 5 on the last two holes. Kind of ruined my day. I actually was playing pretty well until then. It started raining with about 4 holes to go, but I don't blame my failure on the rain. Most of it was bad judgement. Looking forward to tomorrow though so I can redeem myself.....Hopefully. We play at 10 AM and then again at 2. Seems kind of close together especially since it has been taking 3 1/2 to 4 hours to play a round.They are pressing my endurance :D

Well it looks like the "fat Lady" has sung. It is all over. Had a great time. My feet hurt, my shoulder hurts, my legs hurt, in other words I am hurting all over. Gee, I love this game. Did my best. Ahh yes. Back in the day.

You are running full out and hit some hole in the turf, and the ankle gives out from under your full weight as the ligaments pop and tear, and you collapse to the ground in a lump of lifeless groaning flesh, only to be attacked by fire ants.

Thankfully my team dragged me off the ant bed.

And while it was fun for a few years, I dont remember playing much after that.

I made it back safe and almost sound. A little more recovery time and I should be good as new, whatever new was like. I really appreciate all the nice words from all of you. May good karma and the force be with you forever. I naturally am disappointed, but I had a great time and enjoyed meeting some other MATURE young men. I think my arm just gave out after a while. About round 5 I just couldn't get any distance or real consistant accuracy out of my forehand. One round I think I hit every poor tree on the course. Good thing there wasn't any conservationist there or they might be picketing my house by now. We named the three courses, trees, more trees and most trees. In other words there were a lot of trees. You should see all the band-aids on my poor disc. All my disc are the same color now, whatever color you call a band-aid :D. I just excused myself to the poor trees, told them I was sorry and moved on before they could retaliate. I think we got maybe two rounds in without any rain. Looking forward to getting back out on Live Oak and playing some disc golf. If you get there before me, warn the trees, I am coming :). See you on the course. Thanks again.

Jimbo-don't sell yourself short. You ARE the champion! However, during your conversations with the trees, did any talk back? What do our trees say? :D Were you able to hand out the minis? Glad to see you are back.

Between Jan and I we handed them all out. Everyone really appreciated them. I took some pins of Texas and stuck them in the minis that I handed out to the mature gentlemen that I played with and they really liked them. One started using it right away and another was saying that his course should do up some like that where he was from. I almost took the one back because the guy started playing very well when he started using the mini.

Yeah, Dave, and we'll have a new hole to play tonight, so we'll play 19 holes until they take out hole 18. For league averages sake, I'll remove the new hole's score until we are only playing 18 holes again. The new one is about 240, but plays more like 320 as it goes up hill a little into trees with a creek on the left and schule on the right. Tee box and permanent basket should be in, in a week or so.

The 2005 LODGA league party will be held Saturday, October 15 at 7pm at Hooligan's at the corner of IH 35 and Loop 1604, right by the theater.

We'll have a spectacular raffle with a disc catcher sport as the final prize. Free food served at 7pm, At least $300 worth of free beer, maybe more. The awards ceremony will commence at 8pm where we'll give out all the league awards and the ace pot money.

If you played in at least one league event, you are welcome to join us. Feel free to bring a friend or spouse. Come Party!!

Not from here, I'm working at the Air Force base in Mountain Home, ID for the week. Played Ann Morrison park on Monday. That was a very nice course, well groomed. Trying to make it out to Bogus today. But they say I need 3-4 hours, plenty of discs and long pants. I'm not sure I'll have enough daylight to get all 18 in. :D

What are the details? Base locale? Times? Do you need the facilities? Prices? Flyers? :confused:
