Moraga commons is a challenging nine-hole course, especially on the long placements. Birdies really feel like you earned them, since the tee shot can be very challenging to park. The elevation changes, and ample tree coverage make for difficult shots even on shorter holes such as one and nine. Most of the trees are very unforgiving if your disc goes into them, so plan ahead with a softball or retrieving tool. The layout encourages forehand and backhand competence, which gives good scoring separation for competitive games. Holes six invites you to really open up and throw your disc at full power, which feels very rewarding when executed correctly.

This park is the main outdoor location in the area, so be warned that there are usually pedestrians congregating around the skate park on hole one, picnickers on hole nine, and a busy walking path crossing through holes four and five. I rate the course 5/5 because it is about as challenging as you can expect a public nine-hole course to be, even though it shares space with walking paths.

Challenging 9-hole course mostly because of the uphill/ downhill throws, but also because there are a number of holes that are blind over ridges or pins that are tucked in/ around large wooded area. Very good signage throughout and a solid workout no matter how well/poor you're throwing. Some shaded areas, but it can get pretty hot in the late summer months.

This is one of the older Bay Area courses. It may be a 9 but it isn't an easy one. It will put some hair on your chest. You are playing up and down this big hill and might be one of the largest 9 hole courses in Nor Cal. Its one of those courses where the 9 is big enough that you question if you want to go back for a second 9. It has some historical Steady Ed significance. Its gets a 3.5 due to these but misses a star because of the conditions are only good for a few months out of the year. It grows tall grass and when its at the point where you cant find your disc they come and till it with tractors and most of the course has big dirt clods that will break your ankles. It also has a couple poison oak spots so pay attention to where your disc lands and what your walking through.

One of the more difficult 9 hole courses I've played. Lots of elevation and longer holes with a variety of shots needed. We have a handicapped league in the summer on Tuesdays, rolling start between 5 and 5:30p.m. New tees installed recently, alternate tees can be made if no one is on the course. Our little East Bay secret, kinda like a mini Novato.
Sontag, RIley, Kremmel, Welty, Fiedler, D'agostino, etc....thank you for teaching us the way of the disc, we've been lucky to learn from the best in the EBDGC.
