Two words: Cave hole.

This is a great hike. Technical course, physically demanding. 20 hole course with with 2 layouts: regular and a super tee layout.

It can get soggy in weather weather as the first part of the course is in a drainage creek to the Etowah river.

Ample parking.
$5 parking fees for core of engineers (card only at ticket machine, live person rarely present.
Closes at sunset.

We played Etowa on a beautiful day in Feb., 2019. The course was a bit wet - especially in the lower areas, but definitely navigable. We loved the mature trees, cliffs, ravines, elevation shots & especially the "Cave" hole.

Sam Barfield, course designer, chatted with us around hole 17. It was cool to connect with him & hear some course history. He's put a ton of effort into this course.

Terrain is woodsy. Most shots are obstructed by trees. There are a few open one's though.

This guy does a nice video review of the holes on youtube: https://youtu.be/yTQdesrCe-I

We will definitely play this course again in the future when we're in the area.

Side Note: We took 2 strollers / 3 children with us. That required some determination on our part. Several times we have to "team carry" one stroller at a time up the steps etc. The course is not really designed for that, but we're a bit crazy and would probably do it again. :)

10/26/17 One of the most technical courses in the Atlanta area. Has as many changes of elevation as Perkerson Park. It definitely is as advertised as being very scenic and well designed to take advantage of all the terrain. 1st timers will need to go with a good imagination and luck to navigate many of the difficult shots. Don't go if it has rained the day before. The first 4 hole are in "Low Country" and could get very soggy. This course is a must visit to put on your list. We were preceded by the course designer and he (Sam) was very helpful in our first experience here. Thanks Sam. Can't wait to go again.. MattC
